Leave Portion Of Text Formula

C4 - #01941 (ATF Cleaner)

I have asked this before as to a formula to get rid of the text and only leave the #01941. The formula I received is =LEFT(C4,FIND(" ",C4)-1) and it works fine.

My queston now is there a way to only leave ATF Cleaner? No ( ) around it?

Lookup For A Portion Of A Text Value

I want to lookup a text value in an array (vlookup). However, instead of searching for the exact value I want to search for only the exact match of the first four characters of the text value. Example

If I have in Cell A1 the text value: 5154
In cell B1 I want to lookup 5154 in the values cells C1 to C6
614a215g
515476
29421cg
215a786
914215g
2154a6

The result would be 515476

I tried with this:

=VLOOKUP(A1,LEFT(Table4,4),1)

Possible To Ignore Text Portion Of Given Cell

I was wondering whether it is possible to have excel ignore the text portion of a given cell. Or alternatively, have excel add in units (or specified text) after you input an initial value so that the cell can be used in a formula.

I have noticed that if I have cell A1 as 1 min and autofill, excel will recognize the number value and still put 2 min in A2, 3 min in A3, etc. However I can not use a function or any formula as the result will be #Value or another error.

I am looking for a way to be able to use the cells in formulas, and I do not want to put the text portion of the cells into another row/column.

I have made something similar before and we were able to make it work... I tried the same code, but it is not working now. Basically in cell a1 I have

Auction Type: Auction, Auction End Time: 11/15/2006 10:00:00 AM(MST), Asking Price/Current Bid: $10.00, Number of Bids: 0, Description: , Traffic: 28
and in cell b1 I need it to only display $10.00 in cell c1 I need 0 (for number of bids)

I have a text strings that contains the word "CHQ 123456" or some other CHQ number. There might be another word/words after the word CHQ xxxxxx something like:

Highlight Portion Of Text Of TextBox

The following code highlights part of the time (hours or minutes) that will be modified by a spin button. The code works fine (although maybe a more efficient way). Each time you click in the time it will highlight the hours or the minutes, depending on where you click. When you click on the spin button the control loses the focus so becomes un-highlighted. I thought that just setting the focus back to the text box would work but what I am getting now is it highlights on every other click of the spin button.

Color Format A Portion Of Text Within A Cell

I have a column of data that contain miscellaneous comments in each of the cells in column 'A'. This is a sample of the text in one of those cells:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Is there a way to programmaticly search each cell in col 'A' to look for any occurrence of the string 'fox jumps over' and highlite in RED only that string occurrence?

So in the end the above cell would now be:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

How To Change Font Color In Portion Of Text String

I have a button (shape) whose text value is linked to cell A1. (In other words, if text in cell A1 changes, the text on the button changes). A concatenation formula exists in cell A1 to "join" together a combination of text and cell values. The formula in A1 looks something like this:

="You have "&B10&" records that contain errors."

I'd like to set the font for the "&B10" portion to be a different color than the rest of the text string so that it stands out from the rest of the text. Obviously this can be done when the text is manually entered into a text box, but when using a formula to populate the text in the text box, it's all or nothing. I'm hoping to find a way to embed a separate font color within the formula string in A1 for just the portion I want to change? For example, all text would be regular/black, but the numeric value generated from cell B10 would be yellow.

I am in need of a formula. I have a number like: 23847-2

I want a formula to take this number and add one to the number before the hyphen. I also want the single digit number after the hyphen to be able to be changed.

So in the end: i want the number copied to the next cell, add one to the portion before the hyphen. Then allow the number after the hyphen to be changed manually.

I need to create a leave tracker wherein i will get the names of the person who want to take leave in that particular month. I have prepared a calendar to make an entry. I need to take care of the following things

1) The person must have sufficient leave balance available to take the leave. so i have to first check if he/she has sufficient leave balance.

Find A PORTION Of Text In A D Column And Automatically Adds The Price To The Right Of It Together In One Cell

I am trying to organize it in a way that I can have all my purchases added based on my text criteria of certain purchase... Ill try to be as clear as possible. I have already organized it in a way that when I paste new months statement in my Excel file it sorts it by date, newest on the top, and I made Conditional Formatting by color on column D which states the Description of purchase. Starbucks appears in description cell but it is followed by number and location making each Starbucks cell in column D different in name. So its hard to use Exact phrase formula to combine the amount for that purchase.

My question is: Is there a formula that find a PORTION of text in a D column and automatically adds the price to the right of it together in one cell. There is a formula that looks for the whole text in the cell but that doesn't work when my name has always some extra numbers at the end of the word Starbucks

Array Formula Works In One Portion But Not After Being Altered And Moved

I figured out exactly what I wanted to do and got it to work in a test excel sheet. However, when integrating it into the actual workbook I wanted, I was unable to get it to work. So, I used the same cell references I need to work in my actual workbook and pasted it all back to the test excel sheet.

So, the test excel sheet has the working formulas up at the top, and a duplicate of what I need to work in the actual cells I need them to work in. Changing the shift start time should group any persons with the same shift togethor. I'm still fairly new, but I think the only portion that could have been changed is the portion that says 1:1.. I figure that is relative to the array so it shouldn't be changed, but not sure what else to do.

Clean A Column To Leave Only Certain Text And Numbers

I have data listed in column A. The data appears in text, blanks, and phone numbers....all in different rows.

I need to capture only the phone number and 3 rows above it no matter what the text says or how many rows inbetween each phone number. Then proceed to copy and paste it to a new sheet into one column.

This needs to continue until i reach the end of column a.
Eg. row 1: the fox
row 2: the pig
row 3: animals
row 4: water
row 5: land
row 6: (780) 111-2222

i need to copy rows 3-6, paste to new column and then continue down column A looking for the next chunk of data to copy and paste.

So it would turn out to look like:
row 1: animals
row 2: water
row 3: land
row 4: (780) 111-2222

All in column B

Formula To Only Leave Last Names

I'm looking to pull into Column B the last name only from the "full name" column (column C).

Right now, in Column B I have the formula =UPPER(MID(C3,FIND(" ",C3)+1,50)) to pull in the last name from the full name that is in column C. The problem is that when column C has a middle initial or a nickname, column B ends up having the middle initial and the last name. For example, if Column C has John "Buster" Jones, I get "Buster" Jones in column B but I only want Jones; or if Column C has Mary T. Smith, I get T. Smith in Column B but I only want SMITH

Is there a better approach so I only get the last name?

Leave Cell Empty Even When There Is A Formula In It

Its probably very simple question, but i can not work it out.

I am trying to design a simple worksheet so I can keep track of how much money my room mate has paid me and what she owes. She pays $142 a week rent plus $23 a month for internet.

Please open the attached workbook. You can see in E7 and 8 there is a red negative number. This is because my tenant hasn't paid me yet for those weeks (D7 & 8).

How can i get these cells to read $0 or leave the cell empty?

The reason why I need this to read $0 or nothing is because it is messing up my next calculation in D3 where it works out how much she has paid for our internet bill.

Thanking you in advance. And sorry if this is a really daft question. Its probably something really simple i have missed.

Annual Leave is calculated base on Jan 1 of every year.

* if analyst hired in the middle of the year, their leaves are pro rated base on Jan 1

Example :

Joined : 9/1/2008 : today is : 10/25/2013 :
Currently leave entitlement is : 12 days [Jan 1 to Sept 1] + 2.66 days [Sept 1 to Oct 25] = 14.66 days
Leave until 31st Dec 2013 : 12 days [Jan 1 to Sept 1] + 5.96 days [ Sept 1 to Dec 31] = 17.96 days

Formula To Delete Whole Numbers But Leave Decimals?

I've got a spreadsheet that's basically a large list of numbers, both whole and decimal. For example, let's say this is in cells A1-A5:

8.2

Is there a formula to get rid of all of the whole numbers but leave the decimals? (What I mean by that is I don't need 4 or 3 as they're whole, but I need the decimals to be left alone).

I know it's probably a really awkward question but I have over 2,000 lines to go through, it will take a long time to do manually.

Perhaps if it's not possible to a formula to delete entries, maybe just make all whole numbers say something like "NO", so that I can sort the column in A-Z order and delete all of the 'NO's quickly by highlighting them all together.

I could really do with is this: =IF(F4>0,F4*3.4%+0.2,"") but I need to be able to make it either 3.4% OR 3.9%. What I thought was if I use another cell, say F3 which I can leave blank or put a 1 in, and tell it if it has a 1 it is 3.9% + 0.20 or if F3 is blank then it is 3.4% + 0.20.

I have been trying to come up with a formula that calculate the number of times one of my employees has taken sick leave. The instances do not mean number of times they have taken a medical leave but the number of instances. For ex: In the month of Sept, my employee takes a medical leave on 1st Sept, then another on 7th Sept and then 3 days of medical leave on 12,13, and 14th Sept. So the total medical leaves is equal to 5, but the number of instances is 3.

The formula should be able to provide a result of 3.

I want to copy that formula down the column B2 but if
B3 is empty I get 01/07/1900
How Do I make so that if there's no date entered in
A column I get blank cells but still retain formulas,
I've been running into this issue with other formulas but I couldn't find any solution searching this forum,
