I have a lots of number arranged in a column. I want to take log of each number (on the base 2) and show the result in the adjacent column. I want this to be in a macro and the results to be displayed all at a time (I dont want to drag the cursor down to get log values for number corresponding to each row).

I am trying to make a column show the result of a formula as positive number only. Right now the column subtracts two other cells and displays the result. I am trying to make it show all the results, positive or negative as positive.

Formula to show the final/total a numeric values appears in an adjacent column.
I am currently attempting (I've researched many posts on this), to count /show the final totals a duplicate numeric value appears in one column, in an adjacent column (example below).
I am currently using an array Frequency formula below (courtesy of the board) filled down in column Q. this works well to count the frequency of duplicate numeric values appear on the list.
Formula used in Column Q below

NB: My list is sorted by column C to ensure all numeric values are in ascending order.

I have a base excel file for summarizing some data, the problem is that the data comes from a different excel spreadsheet. What I want to do is make a function that pulls the data from another spreadsheet into my base file. It would be easy if it were just one excel sheet, but this job would require where the data is pulled from a data file which has many modified versions.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? The files with the data will be structured the exact same but with different data entered in. I just want a button so I can click the file I want the data from and have it show up on my summarizing base file.
I have been trying to get the row number of a cell to be decided by the integer result of a function. My thought was to do something like this .........(D(MATCHxxxxxx))....... With "D" being the column and "MATCHxxxxx" representing some function that results in an integer.

Thr macro works fine - unless the value I am searching for does not exist. The answer is ( Ithink) an IF statement, but I am having problems with the errors, when I try the IF.
The macro below blows up at the ActiveCell.Offset(0, -1) = "109073X line with an error "Run-time error "1004" - Application-defines or object-defined error.
I've tried a number of things I've seen from this board but have not found a way past the error.
If the value is found, the macro moves to the else statment and stops at the ActiveCell statement with the above error. If the value is not found, then the macro goto NotFound.

I want to run a macro if the result of an IF function is true.
E.g. cell J55 contains =IF(H55>I55,"Goodbye","")
H55 contains =NOW()
I55 contains =DATE(2012,12,31)
Now by changing the dates etc. it prints Goodbye.... simple enough, but what I want is for it to run a macro that selects a range from the previous year's figures and simply changes the fill colour on the range. The macro for this also works fine.

I have been using the following formula to add time (hh:mm) in the last 28 rows (inclusive) of Column B into an adjacent cell in Column C (Column A is the date):
=SUMPRODUCT($B1177:$B1204)*24
It is becoming tedious to copy/paste the formula - Is there a formula that would define all cells in Column C to be the sum of the last 28 rows of Column B?

I'm trying to find the largest number in a row and then have the column heading (text) as the result. I can find the largest number by using =max(numb1, numb2 ....) but then how do I get the heading of the column as the result. An example of what I want to happen is below

I have a list of people with SSN, about 3000. This list contains business done by each individual, which can be in all 50 states. I have another list of the same individuals with just their name and addresses and what we call "client number". I need to put the client number with the list for the individual states. I have a number of Grand Totals that equal to Hours of Work in a day ( Based on Demand from Customer Orders)
I only have 95 ( this will be a number in a cell that I want to be able to change if needed) work hours available to me each working day.
I want each day to attempt to fill in up to 95 hours , anything more and it will push the remaining balance forward into the other cells.
IE here is what I have for the next 5 days for Totals

Under the 211 I want it to change to 95 and then carry over the balance to the cell under 120 , I then want that cell to change to 95 and carry over its balance to the next cell and so on down the line. I will always have 22 Working Days I want to work with. So the last day may or may not have a greater then 95 total.
The 95 part I want to be able to change that to whatever number I think I will have available to me and it will adjust accordingly through the line.

My code below works, but I am wondering if there is a better way than using offset(0,3) to prevent a code breakdown if columns are inserted between the Date and Rate columns. The date range is names "DATES" and the rate column in names "RATES"

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to resolve a calculation issue where I want to sum accross columns depending on an entry in the column immediately preceeding. The layout is an Attendance sheet, The columns are for the days of the Month ( 1 - 31 ) and the rows are the Months. There are 2 columns associated with Each day. The first column is for the type of Time Off ( Vacation, Sick, Personal, etc ) the column next to it records the number of Hours some one took off. The work book has a Sheet for Each Employee and a running total needs to be maintained for the amount of "off time" each employee takes by the various time off categories. I have tried setting up range names but this won't work as there will be multiple sheets. I believe the problem is the mixture of Text and Numeric data but could not resolve.
