I have this code on a tab containing a series of dependent dropdowns. There are two dropdowns in each row, Dropdown2 being dependent on the choice in Dropdown1. This code replaces any contents of Dropdown2 with "Select..." if Dropdown1 changes. (Dropdown1 and Dropdown2 are NOT names, those are just the way I refer to them).
I have values in row A and I have values in row C. I want to create a loop to look up xxx and replace it with the values consecutively in row C. Look at example for a better Idea. I found a way to find and replace, but I not sure how to use it with qoutes. I was thinking maybe I dont even need row A and just supply a list and excel could have the chunk of data in the code itself.
I am trying to have a macro clear out the contents of a cell before it quits, the cell contains validation data in the form of a list. My goal is to force the user to choose an option every time before exporting a file, the cell contains what will become a part of the filename. I want to make sure the user, usually me, remembers to change it each time rather than accidentally saving over another filename. I had the following code and kept getting a 400 error (nice and specific)
The only way my macro will run without a 400 error is if that line is commented out. Is there any way to clear out the cell and retain the validation data dropdown list?
See attached spreadsheet, in sheet 1, yellow columns are for restricted cells and Sheet 2 contains the lists for such columns' validation range. Sub-Strategy is dependent on the choice made from Main-Strategy, e.g. if Main-startegy = EquityHedge, then the choices for sub-strategy can only choose Long Biased, Low Beta & opportunistic. But I also have a "Other" category under Main Strategy, Sheet 2 cell G1, if this is chosen then I would like to remove the data validation in the sub-strategy column, (i.e. u can input anything for sub-strategy) how can I do this?
I got all three dropdowns to be dependent on each other, now however, whenever I change the value in the top Input Dependent Box M39, I would like M43 & M47 to appear blank. I want these two cells to appear blank until you select the dropdown which will allow you to select your values of choice.
I am making a workbook where the G column is drop-down menus that are populate a drop down on the H column. Whenever someone changes the selection of the G column I was to erase what is in the corresponding H column. I have this code that works, but I need to do this for 100 lines. Is there any way to put this into a loop instead of writing 100 if statements?
I have a list of account entries on sheet1 that go from 1/1/2014 to 2/05/2014. I want a userform that prompts for a cutoff date, where I will enter 1/31/2014, and it will then clear all entries AFTER the date that I enter into the userform.
I will be doing this on a monthly basis, and the number of rows will change each month.
I have a sheet with data on it. In column 5 I have adate range and I would like to delete and values which have "01/01/1900". Currently I have created a loop but for some reason it does nothing. I can use the find option and it picks up the cells with the ones on. For some reason it seems that it cant find them cells.
The code is as follows
rowcn = 8
target_sheet = "Status Report" Do 'status_flag = 0
If Sheets(target_sheet).Cells(rowcn, 5) = "01/01/1900" Then Sheets(target_sheet).Cells(rowcn, 5) = "" End If rowcn = rowcn + 1 Loop While Sheets(target_sheet).Cells(rowcn, 1) > 0 End Sub
I want a marco that can "find & replace" in a column, let's say K. Let's just say I want to find "AAA" and replace "BBB" and "CCC" and replace "DDD", I just need the code so I can change it myself. It will be more than 40+ replacement.
I was tasked with looking through a 10,000 row by 20 column spreadsheet for 628 different ID Codes and replacing them with their Descriptions. The ID Codes could appear individually in any of these cells (200,000 cells!).
The list of ID's and Descriptions hardly ever changes, so I decided to create the two-dimensional array as part of the find-replace macro shown below (only a few lines of each dimension are shown).
My question isn't related to that (although if you can suggest a better alternative please do). The main "work" of the macro is the loop at the end of the array declarations, which essentially loops through all 628 ID codes in array dimension 1 and does a Find-ReplaceAll with its corresponding Description from array dimesion 2.
This task, manually, could take days. My macro has whittled the task down to 2.5 minutes on a 5-year-old laptop, but I was hoping one of the gurus might suggest an even better method than 628 loop iterations. If not, so be it, the end users will appreciate what I've done and then have to find something to do with their "free time."
I have a range of cell content to be clear (Value only) but no formula in those cell.
The range is populated in cell H106. Example cell if cell H106 = D5:E102 then clear the value value only in cell range D5:E102 if cell C106 = G5:H102 then clear the value value only in cell range G5:H102.
I have a workbook, with coding that opens many workbooks and performs several updates in each one, it seems that for some reason there is build up of memory with big files etc, is there a way with code that after each workbook has been updated and before the master workbook loads the next workbook for update that i can clear all memory, similar to closing excel down completly and reopening ?
I have a small workbook that copies 4 cells to a database list as per the code below, 2 of the fields activate a pop up calendar for date input on a button push the data is transfered to the sheet and the cells are cleared, however on the clear contents parts at the bottom of the code it reactivated the pop up calendar, is there a way of not having this pop up when clearing the contents.
I need multiple macros to copy information from sheet1 to sheet2 and another to copy the information from sheet1 to sheet3 and so on. need a total of 20 macros each to copy information from sheet1 and paste it to the corresponding sheet number. How to do it and this this is what i want to do, Copy roll A-B-C-D,and G but not E-F-H i have formulas that i don't want to clear or re-do every time it is possible to do this.

Below is my initial code that can't get past the first line.
if right(cells(2,i),4) = "D_MA" then ..... ?
I'm trying to clear the contents of all data in each column that has the text conaining "D_MA" in that columns row 2. For instance, if cell F2 has 30D_MA, I want the macro to clear all contents in Column "F" -- but to do this for all columns that contain "D_MA" in row 2.
I have two separate workbooks, the first is called Job test and is to be used as a template for quoting jobs, the second is called Fixtures and is a database of fixtures that are organized in table. I keep them separate as multiple jobs will use the Fixtures DB workbook and I want to be able to update it and add new fixtures in one area. In order to facilitate this I have a macro that opens the Fixtures DB workbook anytime that the Job test workbook is opened. In the Job test workbook I have multiple dropdowns that I hope to make dependent or cascading by means of filtering the Fixtures DB workbook. The issue I have run into is with the following code.
What this code hopes to achieve is that when I change the value in the LightType dropdown, the Fixtures DB workbook will automatically filter the data once to a different sheet(CLampType), then get only unique values for LampType in column O. I have set up a dynamic range for column O so as to populate my next combobox, LampType.
This should all be fairly simple and straightforward, however I am running into "Run-time error '1004': Clear method of Range class failed." when I try to execute the line to clear the worksheet, and also have an error when I try to filter the data via macro. The strange part is all of this can be done manually without a problem, and moreover I have tried recording the process and using the recorded version. Even stranger yet is that when I add an "on error resume next" before everything, the code works fine but keeps looping and acts finicky(I don't want to simply resort to this as a solution). I have also tried setting this macro up inside the Fixtures workbook instead and calling it from the combobox change, to no avail.
Have a cmd button and text box. I need to enter a word in the text box, hit the button, and have excel show me where that text is at on the worksheets (numerous sheets). I have tried unsuccessfully suggestions, but all want to replace the text with something. I do not need to replace the text, just find it.
