Search And Replace: Loop To Look Up Xxx And Replace It With The Values Consecutively In Row C

I have values in row A and I have values in row C. I want to create a loop to look up xxx and replace it with the values consecutively in row C. Look at example for a better Idea. I found a way to find and replace, but I not sure how to use it with qoutes. I was thinking maybe I dont even need row A and just supply a list and excel could have the chunk of data in the code itself.

I am looping in Excel to find "NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES". IF found I want to go up one row and replace the first 4 digits with " 9ZZ". The Line 1 data will alway be different so I just want to replace the first 4 digits. I don't want it to effect the rest of the line.

Example:
Line 1 - 100 6300 BRCH TOTALS
Line 2 - NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES

RESULTS NEEDED:

Line 1 - 9ZZ 6300 BRCH TOTALS
Line 2 - NUMBE OF EMPLOYEES

Search Across Columns By Row & Replace Specific Cell Contents
I have created a desk planning spreadsheet in excel. Each week a mailmerge sends out an email to everyone in the office asking them to confirm when they will need a desk in the next week.

As the normal employee doesnt get involved in desk planning I want them simply to state whether they will be in the building or not by entering "GH" (our building) in a cell under each day in the email they get sent.

When the reply comes in we select the cells from the email and then paste them into the desk planning spreadsheet.
-----

WHAT I NEED TO DO:
Select some cells (must be in the same row - that we have just pasted in).
Press a button on the Worksheet labelled "Auto Assign Desk", which does this:-
For each cell that contains "GH", replace with the right-most cell to the left of the selection that starts "GH_"... (this is the start of a unique desk reference (GH_1_1, GH_1_2,etc.)
-----

This will assign the employee to the desk they were sat at last, when they are in the office next week.

Find And Replace With Loop
I have a sheet with data on it. In column 5 I have adate range and I would like to delete and values which have "01/01/1900". Currently I have created a loop but for some reason it does nothing. I can use the find option and it picks up the cells with the ones on. For some reason it seems that it cant find them cells.

The code is as follows

Sub jdate()

rowcn = 8

target_sheet = "Status Report"
Do
'status_flag = 0

If Sheets(target_sheet).Cells(rowcn, 5) = "01/01/1900" Then
Sheets(target_sheet).Cells(rowcn, 5) = ""
End If
rowcn = rowcn + 1
Loop While Sheets(target_sheet).Cells(rowcn, 1) > 0

Using Wildcard With Search And Replace
I have numerous formulas that use a macro with an indirect cell reference, for example:
INDIRECT(macro(A21))

I am moving these formulas to a different workbook and I need them to still refer to items in the old sheet. I accomplish this by using this formula:

INDIRECT(CONCATENATE("OtherSheet.xls!",macro(A21)))
This works. However, I need to do a global search and replace for all of these formulas without deleting my indirect cell reference. I could replace
macro
with
CONCATENATE("OtherSheet.xls!",macro
but that would leave me short a ).
Is there a way to use a wildcard to accomplish this? It does not seem that replace
macro(*)
with
CONCATENATE("OtherSheet.xls!",macro(*))

Replace #VALUE With <nul> On SEARCH

Subsequent data selection also results in #VALUE...

In sheet one I have a list of bank transactions. I want to find all transactions matching a specific search string (in $C$2). $C$2 is compared with data in column B of sheet 705334-0707-0408.

How do I get a nul value in column A (=IF(SEARCH($C$2,'705334-0707-0408'!C3)>0,ROWS($1:2),"")). I've tried to compare the result to #VALUE, and tried NOT and a few other combinations, but can't get it to work.

I cant use the contents of a different column; there are only date, details and amount. None of date or amount influence, or are influenced by the details in column B.

Search And Replace Text In A Column
I want to replace all blank cells in column A with the word "BLANK" but my problem is that I need to tell Excel to stop searching for blank cells in column A once and only once column A is equal to the last data row in the column named "Product Number". I tried this macro but, naturally, it replaces all the empty cells in the WHOLE COLUMN.

I will always have a header column in row 1. The data is below that (data will always start at row 2).

Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.Replace What:="", Replacement:="BLANK", LookAt:=xlPart, _
SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False, _
ReplaceFormat:=False
How can I change this so that the find/replace macro searches all the way down equal to the last data row in the "Product Number" column?

Below are 2 examples. Example 1 is pre macro and example 2 is post macro.

Unwanted Character, Can Not Search And Replace
I have a sheet that I often have to edit and import into SQL database.

I have no control over the format of the sheet given to me and it seems that something has changed causing me the following problem.

When I try to import the Data it’s showing ten times as many items than are actually there.

The problem I think is in a text column. I’ve tested this by using an old column from a previous sheet and pasting this into the new sheet and I can import it ok.

What I seem to have is a rectangular box character but I’m not sure what it is.
I can copy and past it into Notepad as it is, but pasted into Word it seems to be a carriage Return.

So whether it’s an actual charter or not I’m not sure.

Are there any tools out there so I can hover over characters in Excel to see what it is! So at least I can be sure what I’m trying to Search and Replace?

More Efficient Alternative To Find-Replace Loop?
I was tasked with looking through a 10,000 row by 20 column spreadsheet for 628 different ID Codes and replacing them with their Descriptions. The ID Codes could appear individually in any of these cells (200,000 cells!).

The list of ID's and Descriptions hardly ever changes, so I decided to create the two-dimensional array as part of the find-replace macro shown below (only a few lines of each dimension are shown).

My question isn't related to that (although if you can suggest a better alternative please do). The main "work" of the macro is the loop at the end of the array declarations, which essentially loops through all 628 ID codes in array dimension 1 and does a Find-ReplaceAll with its corresponding Description from array dimesion 2.

This task, manually, could take days. My macro has whittled the task down to 2.5 minutes on a 5-year-old laptop, but I was hoping one of the gurus might suggest an even better method than 628 loop iterations. If not, so be it, the end users will appreciate what I've done and then have to find something to do with their "free time."

Replace The Values
I have a workbook with two worksheets. The first is called Input and in cells C3 a product code is entered and in cell D7 the value and F10 the description.

The second sheet called History has a range of Product codes in cells AA5:CD5, AA4:CD4 holds values and AA8:CD8 descriptions.

Now for the intersting part, I need a macro to run that looks at the value in cell C3 of the input sheet and if a match can be found in cells AA5:CD5 of the History sheet then the value from D7 would replace the value in AA4:CD4 and F10 would replace the value in AA8:CD8.

Example if cell C3 has RJ12345 as the product, D7 reads £15.10 and D7 reads towel.

The code RJ12345 is foound in cell BC5 then cell BC4 would be replaced with the value £15.10 and BC6 would have the worf towel entered.

How Do I Replace Numeric Values Only
When using the replace rule in Excel, you can use "?" to represent a standard variable, e.g. if you had the text "Bottle 100g", and you set the replace rule as "?g", it would delete the "g" and the four characters before it, leaving you with "Bottle".

However, if I have lots of replace rules to make in a file, and I only want to eliminate the numerical values before a letter, how do I go about doing this?

For example, if I had the text "Dog food 10g", and I made a replace rule "??g", it would leave me with " food ". What I would really need, is a way of taking away the numeric values before the "g", which would give me "Dog food".

Therefore, is there a unique identifier for numeric and/or text values?

Replace Row Of First Cells Match
replace row of first cells match

replace row if 1st column match

But that's only a very small part of my question.

1. I have an original list of IP addresses which contain many duplicates.
2. I used "The Duplicate Finder" Add-in and created a unique list of IP addresses from the original list.
3. I did proprietary search on the unique IP list to get an approximate geographic location of each IP address.

Now I want to match all the IP search information to all the duplicates in the original list.

It's difficult for me to craft an exact question without knowing the proper terminology, so I'll "illustrate" a few point below.

Original List of IP addresses in a single column (IP Address)

IP address
12.34.56.78
12.34.56.78
98.76.54.32
95.62.84.37
95.62.84.37
95.62.84.37
95.62.84.37
55.11.99.225
55.11.99.225
23.56.89.14
78.56.12.43
78.56.12.43

Unique list of IP address with additional info in 3 more columns (4 columns total)

IP Address Country State City
12.34.56.78 USA CA SomeName
98.76.54.32 USA NY AnotherName
95.62.84.37 GB England Ye OldeName
55.11.99.225 MX EL SmokyCity
23.56.89.14 USA WA RainyCity
78.56.12.43 USA FL ViceCity

What I want to do is if an IP address in the original list matches the IP address in the unique list, the original IP row is replaced with the matching IP row in the unique list.

Find & Replace Values Based On Condition

For Each cell In target
If cell.Value = "**:** ? **:**" Then cell.Value = "00.00"

A example would be 02:47 / 03:15 the next row could have 03:15 / 04:09
and so on however I could have text in some rows. In reality I would like to find and replace the cell.value with the Left 5 characters if the cell contains ANY value maching that format. Text in that column will never have that format combination

I don't know... that probably doesn't make any sense, and maybe there's no way to get it done. If so, it would save me hours. Couldn't see a way to attch an example file to my post, otherwise I could probably describe it a bit clearer.

Replace With 0
I am in need of a quick macro. I am not sure how to even write this one.

I need it to look at all the cells in the worksheet, and if it is an an error (such as #DIV/O, #NUM, #N/A, etc) replace it with a 0.

Is this possible through VBA?

Even better, how can I make this an Add-in?
