Macro Or VBA To Convert Sheet To JPEG / DICOM Or TIFF Formats
Nov 23, 2005
I need to insert an Excel worksheet in the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) in our medical imaging department. Our PACS only accept JPEG or TIFF or DICOM format. Currently, we convert the Excel sheet to PDF and then JPEG and then insert it in the PACS. Is there a way (macro? VBA?) to program a cell (lets call it "Save as a Picture") so that when I click on that cell, the worksheet get saved as jpeg or tiff or dicom format?

I have two columns containing dates (Date1 and Date2). Date1 is like a long date and Date 2 is a short date. I need a macro to compare these two dates and delete rows where Date1 <> Date2. Please find attached the before and after file which also contains the date formats for these two dates.

I have a column of about 1000 records. In each field is a long integer, that has been obtained through a concatenation formula. I have copied the results to a new column and used "paste special, values" to do so. I now have the results in a new column, but the cell format is text and is giving me an error. Even if I pre-format the cells that I will paste into to be a number they do not stay as a number after being pasted into, they still have an error.
I need to run a vlookup on these results but because of the error in the cells the vlookup wont work until they have been changed to a number format. I am able to change the format of the cells to number, no deciaml places, one by one. I have about 1000 records and need to be able to change the cells to number format in one go, as it is too time consuming otherwise.
If I change the format of the cells all together in one go to a number, they do not change unless you double click in them and press enter one by one. Is there a way to change the cell format for all the cells in one go without this laborious process?

I have a names in column A starting with row 7 as follows:
Walden, Douglas E
Haden, Michael
Wilson, Matt David
I need help with coming up with 3 formulas:
(1) That returns the First, Middle Initial, & Last Name in column P of the same row:
Cell P7 Douglas E Walden
Cell P8 Michael Haden
Cell P9 Matt David Wilson
(2) That returns the First & Middle Initial in colum Q of the same row:
Cell Q7 Douglas E
Cell Q8 Michael
Cell Q9 Matt D
However, I am so new at this, the simpler the formula the better because I want to try & understand it, not just learn it.

I am using OCR software to convert .tiff files to .xls files. In Excel I wrote a macro that executes upon encountering certain errors however I can't figure out the code I need to make Excel print the original .tiff file even though they have the same filename just different file extentions (tiff vs xls). I have all the necessary code except how to call the original .tiff file and print it to a printer.

I am creating a Macro to convert formulas to values on a Datasheet after each entry from a form (worksheet) is carried over. Since each entry will go on a separate row I created formulas to give the new datas location. I just can't get the syntax correct for it to run.
Sub Convert_Formulas_to_Values()
Range("Reviews!$B$202").Value: Range("Reviews!$AF$202").Value.Select
Selection.Copy[code]....

This is an example of data.... all with general format at the moment.

I have used this formula to extract the date portion, but I can't get this to then format as date. How do I convert this to the julian date, so I can then apply a date format?
=LEFT(G9,SEARCH("/",G9)+7)
(The day portion of this date always has a leading zero).

3. the last printout I only want to print the following cells in their correct locations

In my spreadsheet, I have approx. 300 'blocks' of data, one for each 'vendor'. I am tracking 5 stats for each vendor for 12 months. Each 'block' has 5 formulas WITH conditional formatting (only one condition used) for each month, so each 'block' has 60 individual cells with conditional formatting. Excel throws an error when I try to copy the block of formulas and formats down the sheet a few hundred times. I have figured out it isn't the formulas that is the problem. It must be some kind of limit Excel 2003 has for how many cells in a workbook can have conditional formatting.

I use Excel 2003 and am trying to put together an automatic macro to apply five conditional formats to a range of cells. The range is H3:H21 and is unnamed. The values in the cells are derived from formulas. These are the conditional formats:
If there is a 1, the background color should be gold/44 and the font should be bolded.
If there is a 2, the background color should be gray 25%/15 and the font should be bolded.
If there is a 3, the background color should be dark yellow/12 and the font should be bolded.
If there is an e, the background color should be red/3 and the font should be bolded.
If there is a 0 (zero), the font should be white/2.
From what I understand, I need to put the code in by using the "View Code" option in the tab sub-menu.

I receive sales data from my wholesalers every month and I continually have to format them to fit the structure of our in-house database. I wanted to design a macro that would automate this process. However, in some months, the files are recieved in a format that is a bit different from the wholesaler's usual format.
Is there such thing as an initial "litmus" test where I could try running the macro and if it doesn't fit the usual structure, there's an error code and I could do it by hand?

I did this macro which formats five worksheets in the same file. I saved this macro as a PERSONAL.XLS file. Last night when i open new files to re-run this macro it was working fine excep one of the worksheets wasnt formatting properly....the macro on this sheet wasnt working for some reason.
Then this morning when i opened new files and tried the macros again it wouldnt work at all. And there is no reacord of them I did five of them and they are all gone! I saved them so why did they disappear! I thought that when you saved a macro as a PERSONAL file that you could open new files and re-run that macro again and again????

An in-house server spits out a whole lot of dates which I put into Excel and then use the dates for analysis (VBA code). The problem is that Excel is getting confused about the date formats. Sometimes the dates are formatted as dd/mm/yyyy and then the next line can randomly be mm/dd/yyyy. This totally messes up all changes of having data integrity.

I need to find a way to insert a row (preferably at the bottom of an existing list) that mirrors the formatting of the row above.
I have had a stab at this (see attached example file) but my solution requires the user to select the correct activecell before it works correctly

I am trying to save a range as a graphic image file (jpg, png). I know I can paste it into a graphics program, like Paint, but was hoping for something a little more straightforward.
I found this article on the Microsoft website which claims to provide a way to save a picture as a graphic image, so I thought I could save the range as a picture and then save that as a graphic file.
Save a picture as a .jpg, .gif, or .png - Excel - Office.com
It works up through step 4. Step 5 doesn't work as advertised for me.
Before starting the procedure in the above link, I first create a graphic image of the range in the worksheet:
Select the range.Copy to clipboard (C-C).Paste as Picture (Paste > As Picture > Paste as Picture).
Now I have the cell range as a picture in the worksheet, so I try the procedure outlined in the link above:
Select the picture.Copy to clipboard (C-C).Paste special (Paste > Paste Special). In the Paste Special dialog box, select a graphic format, such as JPEG, and click OK. This creates a second graphic image in the worksheet.Right-click the image, then click Save as Picture. This option is not available on my right-click dropdown menu.
Is there any simple way to save a cell range as a graphic file without resorting to a graphic program or a macro?

I have 50 word docs where people have pasted powerpoint slides as pictures but just used copy and paste rather than paste special, this means when pasted the file sizes are massive.
I have an excel spreadsheet with hyperlinks to evry document where the file sizes are massive and its taking up so much file space.
I was wondering if anyone has a macro or can hlp me with one that, when i click on a link to the word doc, it would open the word doc, and change the picture from .ppt to .JPEG then close the word doc when done.
Im not sure if this is even do-able, infact i am probably talking rubbish, but it would save me like 2 weeks if ti was possible.

I have a sheet used to process sales orders - about 500 orders per month x ~1.5Mb each. I want to save them as smaller files.
The sheets to save are full of vlookups linked to external sheets and tabs, other formulas, and macros - most of which do not need saving when the sales order is filed. There are lots of merged cells too.
I must save:
1. Cell values
2. Cell formats incl merged cells, borders, colour, font etc.
3. The row and column sizes
4. Print set ups - print area, margins, page setup, header footer etc - (Everything needed to reprint to same as original)
I think I need a "File save as" style Macro which opens a dialogue box for the user to nominate the destination folder (& allows the user to browse for it), and a new file name.
The original file name is "Job Sheet - Omlaw.xls"
The tab/sheet to save is "Front Sheet"
(There are two other tabs - neither of which need saving.)
All cells to be changed to "locked".
The sheet must be password protected in Excel. User to enter it - or not.
The saved file should be "write protected" if possible?

I am on the final part of a visitor log and I am stumpped on how to finish it. I have a electronic signature pad (Interlink Electronics-ePad) that the controls will not allow me to use in VBA for excel, I can get the image and signature on my usersform but am unable to save just the image through any code.
All I have been able to come up with at this time is saving the userform and pasting it in the active worksheet (code for this I found here written by "Michel Pierron"). What I would like to be able to do is have the userform image cropped to where the "Image1" image is (Signature will be in it place when done, the OCX esign block will not show on upload) and then saved as "visitors name, date/time.JPEG" to a folder in my documents.
The attached file is a stripped down version of what i have so far with no checking involved, just trying to get the save part of this done. If all I can do is save the userform as a whole that would work also but would like to be able to change it to a jpeg for storage. Have tried to use epads SDK's to achieve a saved signature but haven't been able, was suppose to be on vacation this week but need to get this done before the 1st.
