I've built a macro to run a loop that opens excel files, prints certain sheets and closes them. First problem is that I am trying to add a function to make the window close once its finished printing. If I don't include the statement - this can run for up to 7 - 8 times (these are very large files) then excel runs out of memory. Unfortunately, i can't set the loop to run from i = anything other than one. So What I would prefer is to be able to make the "ActiveWindow.close" command work - because this way I can run the entire loop. But I'm not sure how to. I tried window referencing, I tried adding a new active Window so when the file opens, its opening in the active window already, but nothing works. Preferably, I need to be able to reference both windows, as my next macro will involve referencing 2 windows (one static - always open) and the other the loop above.

How do I read what window is active then return to it when the macro is done? Macro Code To Change Active Worksheet
I have a workbook with about 12 worksheets within it. I am trying to input a button on worksheet 3 that when pushed would activate worksheet 12. Basically the same as if you clicked on the tab at the bottom of the screen called worksheet 12. I realise that you have to create a button which Ive done. However I cannot seem to figure out the proper macro code to get the button to change the current worksheet when its pushed.

Macro For Pop-up Window With Picture
A macro, which would allow me to click on a particular cell, which will have an ID number (1 through 34), each ID# is attributed to a particular employee. These ID# are located in my spreadsheet in columns B & G, and the ID #'s begin initially in B6 & G6 and continue downward to B34 & G34. These ID #'s are used in a vlookup type formula which covers 35 pages of this workbook. What I'd like to do is be able to click on any cell between B6& B34 (and/or the same in G6&G34), which has a particular ID # in it and have the photo of that particular employee designated with that ID# pop up in a window generated by the macro. I hope this makes sense! Any help would be greatly appreciated. My 1st sheet in my workbook is my "lookup" tab, which contains my ID# list and numbering sequence affiliated to each employee. So I'm not sure if I'd need to put the photograph of the employee in a column next to the employees name or have a folder designated with all my pictures in a certain directory, etc.

Doubt In Macro Window In 2007
This is the first time i am using this forum. I am having a doubt in the macro. I am using MS-Office 2007 version. In Excel 2007 when you go to "developer" tab, the first group is "code" under that when you click on "Macro". You will be able to see a button called "create". Can you tell for what purpose it is used? when it will be "active" because it is always in disabled state.

Change Active Cell Color According To Name Above
Here is a screen shot of what I have: I want to be able to enter the name from the above 4 cells (B3,B4,B5,B6) IN THAT COLUMN, and have the active cell change color accordingly. If I am in cell C7 and start to type "PUBLIX" It should turn red in color. It does not because the code looks to a specific cell (example: B3). Change Active Cell Value On The Fly
I need to input a long list of steel sections in Excel. The steel sections have names like HEA200, HEA120, HEB 400, HEM300 etc. I was thinking that this could be done easier by using codes for the section prefixes (HEA,HEB, HEM etc) and that the cell value would change automatically. HEA=1 HEB=2 HEM=3 HD=4 UNP=5 etc. For example: I input "1100" - this would change on the fly to HEA100 I input "2200" - this would change on the fly to HEB200 I input "5200" - this would change on the fly to UNP200 I know I could do this by using a lookup function in another cell, but I want it all to happen in the same cell.

Change Active Cell Color
Found code on this site to change the color of the active cell. One problem and two questions. Code works, however, when you save and close the last active cell is stuck with the new color. I found Change Color Of Row When Cell Is Selected ("search" is my friend). StephenR's example is just the sort of thing I want, except I'd like it to ignore Cells that already have an Interior colour, or revert the Cells to their original Interior colour when you move on. The other issue I see would be how could you change/edit a Cells fill properties, without this routine changing it back to white when you move on?

The attached sample workbook has a listbox of areas in a userform. The Textbox on the user form is so that the user can edit the Area names in the listbox. Macro Window With Buttons To Accept User Input
I'm very new to Excel and definately to macros/vba. I've already received a tremendous amount of help with this file but I'm am really struggling here and getting very frustrated! I've got a pretty good handle on the excel part but the macros/vba is another story. Here is what i'm attempting to do: I've created a form "frmMacroButtons" which has 8 buttons. When the workbook is opened I want this form/window to launch. I want the user to be able to select any of the buttons but also be able to just click into the worksheet manually if wanted but have the window stay open to go back to use the buttons. Macro To Make Insert Comment Window Appear Automatically
I have created an attendance tracker for a team of people at work. It simply involves a grid of the days of the month and on each 'day' (or cell) I have set up the Validation command to prompt the the user to select whether they were at work, on holiday, off sick etc. etc from a drop down box. If they do not change the cell, its defaulted value is that they are in work. When a user selects the days that they are planning a holiday in the future, they are meant to write a comment on the cells they have changed, to advise when they had 'requested' the holiday. What I would like is (a macro?) which makes the comment box automatically 'pop up' when they change a cell from its default value prompting them to fill in the details rather than relying on them to 'add comments' manually. In addition, what would be the best way to 'restrict' them from booking holiday within the next 7 days - we have a problem with people booking holiday on 'lastminute.com' for 2 days time, booking off the holiday on the spreadsheet and saying that they had it planned for weeks!

Rename Macro In Properties Window Loses Shortcut
I recorded one that does a very simple task, converts formulas to values. I saved it in my personal workbook, all is well. I noticed that excel names them Module1, Module2 etc. I thought it would be better to name them, so in the properties window next to "name" i changed Module1 to ConvertFormulas. However, when i go to a worksheet, the keyboard shortcut no longer works. Reverting back to the old name Module1 solves this. Clicking Tools -> Macro -> Macros, selecting ConvertFormulas and then Options and modifying the shortcut.

Run Menu Macro When Window Selected/Deselected
I need code that will let me activate and inactivate a custom menu bar macro when the user leaves/reeturns to the workbook the menu is for. Example: in workbook A (with a cutsom menu bar), the user inputs data, but needs to check or edit workbook B (normal menu bars). I want the menus to go back to normal when the user activates Window WorkbookB. When finished there, and selecting Workbook A, I want the custom menu macro to run again. Change/Modify/Add Text In Shape On Non-Active Worksheet
I have a button on say, sheet1 with text that I want to change after a certain action takes place; however, I was trying to change this text without switching sheets. (switching sheets isn't a big deal, I'm mainly trying to do it my way for the practice). Macro Will Not Look At Active Workbook
I have 2 workbooks open in the same excel session. each with its own unique name. The macro looks for a specific name and then copies data from this workbook to the 2nd workbook. For some reason it no longer like the name of the workbook #1 which has not change (as far as I can tell) When I run the macro i get the run time error '9' subscript out of range, when i click on the debug this is what is highlighted and underlined.

Macro To Refresh All Active Cells
writing a macro that will refresh all the active cells in my "Master" worksheet. Every month, I append data from one Excel worksheet to the end of my Master worksheet. I want all the cells in the Master worksheet to be formatted as text. However when I copy the cells, I get different formats, i.e. text, general, number, etc. Simply selecting the new data and applying the text format from the Format Cells popup, does not work. Find Method To Search For The Active And Non Active Values
I have a range of amounts in Sheet 1 from F7:Q13 and im using the find method to search for the active and non active values in the cell. Which means that if there's a value in the cell it will transfer the value in Sheet 2, if nothing is found in the cell the cells in Sheet 2 will return as nothing or null. Macro Code Only Works If Specific Worksheet Active
I have searched the FAQ's but have not found a suitable answer to my problem. I have some code that works perfectly when it is run from the VB Editor but when I put it behind a command button it gives me an error almost straight away. I have read that when a command button is used the command button defaults the active sheet to the one that it is one therefore you always have to specify the active sheet but I have done this so am still confused as to why it is falling over. Create Macro To Chart Data With Location As Object In Active Sheet
I have been trying to create a macro in excel to chart a selection of data and to output the chart on the active sheet where the data was taken (as opposed to a named sheet). So basically, I have about 300 worksheets with data, and I would like to have a button on each page that automatically charts that data when clicked, and outputs the chart to the page where the macro was clicked. Worksheet Change Macro Takes Too Much Time When Run With Update List Macro
I have a worksheet in which I have a worksheet_change macro. This worksheet_change macro makes sure that a few cells will keep their colors, even if the user copies and pastes a new value to that cell. This worksheet_change macro runs each time there is a change on the worksheet. Now my problem is that on the same sheet I have an update list macro which updates around 20.000 rows and two columns (which is alltogether around 40.000 values) and it takes a while to run. So.. it takes a loooooooooot of time (too much) when these two macros both run. My question is that can I somehow disable the worksheet_change macro while the update list macro runs. I mean something like when I start the update list macro to disable worksheet_change macro and when the update list macro finishes, then reenable worksheet_change macro?

I'm trying to create a copy of the active sheet and then rename the new copied sheet to what's in cell O4, which is a formula (see below) and then paste value cell O4 in B3 of the copied sheet.
