View 2 RepliesI've built a macro to run a loop that opens excel files, prints certain sheets and closes them. I have the macro working - to some degree. here is my code (this is excel):
Sub RMPProducer()
OldPath = "S:RMBS_Performance_Analytics Analysis1 Staging Folder For Monthly Model Templates2007200704VVDeals"
Dim t As Workbook
Dim s As String
Dim a As Window
With Application.FileSearch
.NewSearch
.LookIn = OldPath
.SearchSubFolders = False
.Filename = "*.xls"
.MatchTextExactly = True
If .Execute() > 0 Then
For i = 1 To .FoundFiles.Count
s = .FoundFiles(i)
I have 2 problems. First problem is that I am trying to add a function to make the window close once its finished printing. This actually works - but it limits my loop iterations from i = 1 to 2 (so it only runs 2 times and I'm not exactly sure why). If I don't include the statement - this can run for up to 7 - 8 times (these are very large files) then excel runs out of memory. Unfortunately, i can't set the loop to run from i = anything other than one.
So What I would prefer is to be able to make the "ActiveWindow.close" command work - because this way I can run the entire loop. But I'm not sure how to. I tried window referencing, I tried adding a new active Window so when the file opens, its opening in the active window already, but nothing works.
Preferably, I need to be able to reference both windows, as my next macro will involve referencing 2 windows (one static - always open) and the other the loop above.
Dim iStartBook As Long, iNewBook As Long
iStartBook = ActiveWindow.Index
ActiveWindow.NewWindow
iNewBook = ActiveWindow.Index
I'm trying to grab the "2" that .NewWindow generates. The above gives 1 both times, despite the obvious 2 in the caption after you run it. So what property works? What does .Index mean here?
I have multiple excel workbooks open at the same time. I need to run a macro on one of them every 15 min but I need to return to the active window when the macro is done. How do I read what window is active then return to it when the macro is done?
Sub AutoSave()
dTime = Now + TimeValue("00:15:00")
Application .OnTime dTime, "AutoSave"
Windows("data.xlsm").Activate
Sheets("Data").Copy
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
ActiveWorkbook. SaveAs Filename:="c:excel" & Format(Time, "hhmmss"), FileFormat:=xlCSV
ActiveWorkbook.Close
Application.DisplayAlerts = True
Windows(1).ActivatePrevious
End Sub
I'm trying find a way in VBA to make a particular cell the top left one in the active window.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI compared data between excel worksheets all the time, well recently my computer was upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and since then I have not been able to figure out how to have an Excel file to open in the Excel window selected(or last active window) when I have more than one workbook open. Is there a way to do this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if it possible to create a macro that permanently increases the height of a workbook by a set increment
I have several workbooks that i have the code below assigned to
[Code] ......
So when they open they resize to that set size and position. and what ive been doing if i need to resize (which is often) is just adjust the values in the above code.
Not that the way ive been doing it is difficult but i was thinking how great it would be if i could have a macro i could run that permanently adds 9 to the .Height and subtracts 9 from the .Top
I am still kind of new to using VBA code and my editing skills are very novice at the moment.
How would I change this Code to run on only the active cell selected and that is all, instead of the whole page?

Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
Dim xCell As Range
Dim xFormula As String
For Each xCell In Selection

I have a workbook with about 12 worksheets within it. I am trying to input a button on worksheet 3 that when pushed would activate worksheet 12. Basically the same as if you clicked on the tab at the bottom of the screen called worksheet 12.
I realise that you have to create a button which Ive done. However I cannot seem to figure out the proper macro code to get the button to change the current worksheet when its pushed.
I want to change the format, design & background color of the POPUP Message.
How to Change format of warning / message / popup window which appear after giving the data validation or Macro criteria.
The below code opens up the printpreview window. This does not allow to select the correct (or change) printer it will automatic use the default printer.
Is there a way for the code to open the print window so I can change the printer and select number of copies?
Code:
Sub Print_Button()
Dim ws As Worksheet, cell As Range
Set ws = Sheets("main")
Set cell = Range("g2000").End(xlUp)
Do Until cell.Value ""
Set cell = cell.Offset(-1, 0)
Loop
ws.PageSetup.PrintArea = ("A2:" & cell.Address)
ws.PrintPreview

I currently have the following macro running to set a chart's data values:
Sub C3Quarter12013()
'
' C3Quarter32013 Macro
'
'
ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 2").Activate
ActiveChart.PlotArea.Select
ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(1).Values = _
[Code] ......
When I copy the tab and change some of the data within the cells, I want the macro refer to the chart on the current tab and the values in the current tab - as currently it refers to only "Chart 2" and the values in the tab 'Figure 2 - WE OPH'.
I've tried changing the sheet name to ActiveSheet.name but that doesn't seem to work.
A macro, which would allow me to click on a particular cell, which will have an ID number (1 through 34), each ID# is attributed to a particular employee. These ID# are located in my spreadsheet in columns B & G, and the ID #'s begin initially in B6 & G6 and continue downward to B34 & G34. These ID #'s are used in a vlookup type formula which covers 35 pages of this workbook. What I'd like to do is be able to click on any cell between B6& B34 (and/or the same in G6&G34), which has a particular ID # in it and have the photo of that particular employee designated with that ID# pop up in a window generated by the macro. I hope this makes sense! Any help would be greatly appreciated. My 1st sheet in my workbook is my "lookup" tab, which contains my ID# list and numbering sequence affiliated to each employee. So I'm not sure if I'd need to put the photograph of the employee in a column next to the employees name or have a folder designated with all my pictures in a certain directory, etc.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI need to input a long list of steel sections in Excel. The steel sections have names like HEA200, HEA120, HEB 400, HEM300 etc.
I was thinking that this could be done easier by using codes for the section prefixes (HEA,HEB, HEM etc) and that the cell value would change automatically.
HEA=1
HEB=2
HEM=3
HD=4
UNP=5
etc.
For example:
I input "1100" - this would change on the fly to HEA100
I input "2200" - this would change on the fly to HEB200
I input "5200" - this would change on the fly to UNP200
I know I could do this by using a lookup function in another cell, but I want it all to happen in the same cell.
I found Change Color Of Row When Cell Is Selected ("search" is my friend).
StephenR's example is just the sort of thing I want, except I'd like it to ignore Cells that already have an Interior colour, or revert the Cells to their original Interior colour when you move on. The other issue I see would be how could you change/edit a Cells fill properties, without this routine changing it back to white when you move on?
Just want to know if is possible control a popoup window through a VBScript Macro in excel? I don't know if I could click a button from a PopUp when it appears? I mean I cant go forward because a popup message appears and I dont know how take the control of it.
I mean how can the parent window take the control of the child window (popup window)
This is the first time i am using this forum. I am having a doubt in the macro. I am using MS-Office 2007 version. In Excel 2007 when you go to "developer" tab, the first group is "code" under that when you click on "Macro". You will be able to see a button called "create". Can you tell for what purpose it is used? when it will be "active" because it is always in disabled state.

1. excel workbook is opened in New Excel window
2. Ribbon is hidden for this new window
i have tried with code stated below it hides the ribbon but new excel window is not open
Private sub Workbook_open()
Application.ExecuteExcel4Macro "Show.toolbar(""Ribbon"",False)"

Is there VBA code that will:
a) change the color of the active cell?
b) return the formatting back when that cell is no longer active?
Here is a screen shot of what I have:
I want to be able to enter the name from the above 4 cells (B3,B4,B5,B6) IN THAT COLUMN, and have the active cell change color accordingly.
If I am in cell C7 and start to type "PUBLIX" It should turn red in color. It does not because the code looks to a specific cell (example: B3). What can I change in my code to give the results I desire?
I have conditional formatting code below I copied from THIS site:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
' Multiple Conditional Format
Dim rng As Range
' Only look at single cell changes
If Target.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
' Adjust Format range to suit
Set rng = Range("B7:H74")
' Only look at that range
If Intersect(Target, rng) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
' Adjust conditions to suit
Select Case Target.Value
Case Range("B6").Value
Target.Font.ColorIndex = 50 ' Green
Case Range("B5").Value
Target.Font.ColorIndex = 3 ' Blue
' Case "Super"
' Target.Font.ColorIndex = 6 ' Yellow
Case Range("B4").Value
Target.Font.ColorIndex = 13 ' Purple-ish
Case Range("B3").Value
Target.Font.ColorIndex = 5 ' Red
' Case "Corporate"
' Target.Font.ColorIndex = 37 ' Light Blue
End Select
End Sub
Found code on this site to change the color of the active cell. One problem and two questions. Code works, however, when you save and close the last active cell is stuck with the new color. Question1 is it possible to limit this code to cells in column B only and fix the problem above? Is there an easier better way to get the same result. See Attached

I need code that will let me activate and inactivate a custom menu bar macro when the user leaves/reeturns to the workbook the menu is for. Example: in workbook A (with a cutsom menu bar), the user inputs data, but needs to check or edit workbook B (normal menu bars). I want the menus to go back to normal when the user activates Window WorkbookB. When finished there, and selecting Workbook A, I want the custom menu macro to run again. I already have create/delete code. Would the solution be some type of If Then in the Sheet Code?

The attached sample workbook has a listbox of areas in a userform. The Textbox on the user form is so that the user can edit the Area names in the listbox. The userform functions fine as long as the column that contains the area name is not hidden. What I want to be able to do is edit the Area Names using the Textbox with the area name column hidden.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recorded one that does a very simple task, converts formulas to values. I saved it in my personal workbook, all is well. I noticed that excel names them Module1, Module2 etc. I thought it would be better to name them, so in the properties window next to "name" i changed Module1 to ConvertFormulas.
However, when i go to a worksheet, the keyboard shortcut no longer works. Reverting back to the old name Module1 solves this. Clicking Tools -> Macro -> Macros, selecting ConvertFormulas and then Options and modifying the shortcut.
I'm very new to Excel and definately to macros/vba. I've already received a tremendous amount of help with this file but I'm am really struggling here and getting very frustrated! I've got a pretty good handle on the excel part but the macros/vba is another story. Here is what i'm attempting to do: I've created a form "frmMacroButtons" which has 8 buttons. When the workbook is opened I want this form/window to launch. I want the user to be able to select any of the buttons but also be able to just click into the worksheet manually if wanted but have the window stay open to go back to use the buttons. Each of the buttons I've typed a description of what I want each of the buttons to do in the code view.
