I have a project were i have to make a macro and place in a workbook such that as soon as i open that excel file
1. excel workbook is opened in New Excel window
2. Ribbon is hidden for this new window
i have tried with code stated below it hides the ribbon but new excel window is not open

I'm trying to have a macro that opens the save as window, places the name in cell f5 and then allows you to save the workbook with cell f5 as the filename. I have managed to get the save as window to come up and the cell f5 as the name, but when I press save is doesn't. Here is what I have (also, is there a way to direct this to a specific folder).

I am using Excel2010.
My sheet displays values collected from a database via an AddIn. The values are updated by pressing CTRL+G (AddIn function).
I have an OnTime macro running SendKeys "^G" to update the values every minute. When the values exceed a certain limit, a sound is played from a custom Alarm function.
This all works as long as the excel window is active.
But if excel is minimized or another window is opened, the values stop updating until Excel is active again.
When the values dont update the sound is not played and that defeats the purpose of the sheet.
I currently have the following code that copies a range opens notepad pastes the range opens save dialog and types the file name. The problem I have is with overwriting the existing file.

In the last couple of weeks my copy of Excel 2010 has started acting strange. Now when I double click an xls or xlsx file in Windows Explorer, it tries to open a new instance of Excel, whic means that it tries to reopen Personal.xlsm and Personal.xlsb, and finds they are already open, so it gives me an error message. Previously it perfectly happily opened the document in another window in the same instance, which is presumably much more memory efficient quite apart from the file locking problem mentioned. How do I get it back to the way it was before? Is this another of MS's famous overnight downgrades?

(So, if my last row of data is 38205, it will open starting at row 38206...hence I see no data until I hit Ctrl+Home). I have not found anything about this on the internet and I cannot find a setting. I need Excel to open to A1 so I don't freak out every time I open a workbook and see no data.

Recently my friend forced Excel to close through Task Manager by Ending the Proccess... Since he did that, every .xls(x) file do not opens. No errors. Just Excel Icon on taskbar appears.... as it is minimized... But it doesn't minized.. Either this icon on a taskbar is minimized Excel icon, or this just an icon ....

I am very new to programming in excel, so bear with me. I need to have a window that pops up when you load excel. I need it to say something like
If A2 > A1, then the popup should say "value exceeded in row 1"
If B2 > B1, then the popup should say "value exceeded in row 2"
If both of the statements above are true, then I would like both of the errors to be in the same window/popup, instead of two seperate ones. I hope thats clear.
I am in a middle of creating macro that makes some calculations in a file downloaded from SAP.
This Macro is in a form of a userform with 8 optionBoxes more then10 Option Buttons then after clicking on a specific button a certain action is being performed it looks like this:

The code is in one file and I would like the macro operations to be performed on data that are in separate file.
Both are open while perforing macro action, and sometimes I'm getting a stop because macro is being performed in a file with code.
Referencing it with something like:
Windows(FN).activate where FN is defined as the name of a file that is being prepared by "Prepare Template" button.
I have a spread sheet that I have written that has 2 html links in it. The links work, but they only open in one browser tab. How do I get them to open in different tabs? Opening in two different browser sessions would be acceptable too. I have Excel 2007 and IE 9 but the users may have different versions.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working on an Excel workbook that is opened by a batch file, updates information, copy and pastes that information to PowerPoint, and closes itself after spending two minutes idle. This is all for an employee communication monitor that runs 24/7. However, I don't like that the Excel spreadsheet displays on the monitors for two minutes every time it opens and runs.
Right now I was using the bit of code below to minimize the workbook when it was done copying and pasting the information. It works fine for the monitors, but the application is not visible in the Taskbar.

A macro, which would allow me to click on a particular cell, which will have an ID number (1 through 34), each ID# is attributed to a particular employee. These ID# are located in my spreadsheet in columns B & G, and the ID #'s begin initially in B6 & G6 and continue downward to B34 & G34. These ID #'s are used in a vlookup type formula which covers 35 pages of this workbook. What I'd like to do is be able to click on any cell between B6& B34 (and/or the same in G6&G34), which has a particular ID # in it and have the photo of that particular employee designated with that ID# pop up in a window generated by the macro. I hope this makes sense! Any help would be greatly appreciated. My 1st sheet in my workbook is my "lookup" tab, which contains my ID# list and numbering sequence affiliated to each employee. So I'm not sure if I'd need to put the photograph of the employee in a column next to the employees name or have a folder designated with all my pictures in a certain directory, etc.

In Excel 2007 when you go to "developer" tab, the first group is "code" under that when you click on "Macro". You will be able to see a button called "create". We have added both the Analysis Toolpak and Analysis Toolpak - VBA to the add-Ins and have the button on the toolbar, however when we click on the button, we don't get the popup window allowing the user to pick the analysis tool they want to use. Have tried this on a number of PCs (we all run the same version) and it doesn't work on any of them.
What we have to do do make this toolpak work?

Sadly, ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=2 was too fast and =1 was too slow!
That's the only command I know to get this to work.
