Turn Auto-Date Feature Off Possible

Aug 9, 2007

I am working w/ values that are interpreted as dates by Excel. The issue is that as I change it through code and have it displayed as I need it, I have to move it around to other locations w/in current sheet or to other sheets it gets reformatted to a date or serial number.

way to disable this feature as akin to turning off auto-correct feature. But have not found any method to do so. Can this be done in code?

Lookup A Date Dependent On Value

Jun 21, 2007

I have a row of values with empty cells in between and I need to detect the first value(negative) and return the date of this numerical value, which is placed three cells above. It is basically a way to automatically find the date of the first transaction for an IRR calculation. I was thinking of using an HLOOKUP or some kind of a MATCH, INDEX structure but I think you need to match to a particular value there, or am I mistaken.

Turn #DIV//0!” To “0” Or Even Turn It To A Blank Cell

Nov 6, 2009

I have a workbook which is set up to take an average heart rate of a participant from a series of data points. I have set the spreadsheet up before I have collected some of the data. (so I can review the project at the 3 months period and its an ongoing project).

The problem is that if there is no data in a participants column then excel correctly gives you readout of “#DIV//0!”. On my results page this #DIV//0!” makes it hard to read the spreadsheet. Is it possible to get excel to turn #DIV//0!” to “0” or even turn it to a blank cell?

I've been trying for ages now and have a mental block.

Turn Autocalculation Off While Macro Runs

Mar 11, 2009

I have a macro which reads data from a large number (up to 500) of books in a folder. This extracted information is subject to some fairly heavy analysis which means that the macro runs very slowly as the sheet is constantly calculating.

I would like to add some code - maybe after 'screen updating = false' - that would turn off auto calculation while the macro runs and then restore it once the macro is finished.

Finding Latest Date In A Range Dependent On Record Variable

Sep 4, 2013

I have this table as my simple little database and I have to extract some info from it and keep track of dates and deadlines...

A
B
C
D
E
F
G
H

[Code]...

I have to get the following data, I need to lookup the last visit date out of all dates associated with a specific name in column "A".

This requires that I test an unsorted table for a value in column "A", i.e. "test2". Then determine which record has the latest date.

In other words, If I test for the value "test2" in column "A", I find I have 2 records, with dates ranged across "D4:F4 and D7:F7".

I need to return the latest date found in those ranges...

The purpose here is to write a function that will find a range of dates associated with a name in an unsorted table, from that range find the latest date, then add 90 days to that date and display the results....

I have been trying to employ a form of, =VLOOKUP(E3,$B$3:$D$11,MATCH($F$1,$B$1:$D$1,0),FALSE) and =INDEX(Table_Array,MATCH(Lookup_Value,Lookup_Array,0),Col_Index_Num) combined with "IF" functions, but to be totally honest I am COMPLETELY lost here....

Dependent Drop Down List With DEPENDENT DEFAULT VALUE

Jan 22, 2010

Situation:
I have two drop down lists 1) Country and 2) States/province

Country has list: [US, Canada]

If "US" is selected, [Arizona ,Florida, NewYork] is listed in the 2nd drop down list
If "Canada" is selected, [Alberta, Ontario, Quebec] is listed in the 2nd drop down list

Scenario:
First, I select "US" and choose the states to "Florida"
Next I change the country to "Canada" and forgot to choose province
Then, the 2nd dropdown list is changed to [Alberta, Ontario, Quebec],
BUT the current value is still "Florida"

Probem:
Now I have "Canada" and "Florida" selected in the sheet

Question:
If the primary list is changed, can I make the 2nd drop down list to show a default value (e.g. blank or the first entry i.e. Alberta)?

Assigning Macro To Each Button To Zip Files Dependent On Button Name?

Jan 28, 2014

Context: I have a spreadsheet that contains a list of employee names and their certifications. I want to be able to assign a button to each employee in column B with a macro that is able to zip files from a folder that contains that employees name.

The following code assigns buttons to each employee in column B. At the moment the code I have is able to assign the macro "Zip" to each button.

[Code] .....

Now, this Zip macro is able to zip the file for the employee "Anthony Tran". However I need it to be able to recognise which employee's button I've clicked and search the same files as above except with that employees name instead of "Anthony Tran".

If it makes things easier, the code for creating buttons for each employee is able to name that button as the employees name that it represents.

Create Macro That Filter Date In A Column From One Week Previous Till Current Date

Mar 14, 2014

I have an excel sheet wherin there is a column that has the data where in the dates are displayed and many other columns.

I get this excel every Thursday so i want to filter this date column in such a way that it give me the data related to the date of the previous week only yet there is a catch here. When i say previous week i mean.

Suppose today is 03/14/14 then i want the data from 03/07/14 till today ie Last week friday to this week full( so cant use Current week option) and then paste it in a new sheet.

I tried the Record part but in that it is taking a hard coded value as i am selecting the date myself. I dont want to change the date manually every time.

this was the macro that was created

Code:
ActiveSheet.Range("$A$1:$BX$58").AutoFilter Field:=1, Operator:= _
xlFilterValues, Criteria2:=Array(1, "3/10/2014")
Range("A59").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=COUNT(R[-4]C:R[-1]C)"
Range("A60").Select

Turn Off Calculations

Feb 2, 2010

I have attached a sample file. All the data is inserted into this file via a text file, except one column "G". Someone in this forum was kind enough to help me in being able to include the city name 'G' to a parcel number 'A'. However, the page is constantly trying to complete 'Calculations' and won't let me do anything without first hitting 'Control Break'.

This is fine except that when I try to save the file into .txt, I don't have the option of 'Control Break' and I have to end up closing the file. As the 'real' file has over 100,000 rows, nothing happens very fast. I have tied changing the 'Calculation Options' but that doesn't seem to change anything.
