View 9 RepliesI update an Excel file daily and save it to a server on a network. Other network users access this file from their own computers. I have a macro created that opens a dialog box upon opening that shows users know of anything important.
Since employees in the office have Excel set to Paranoid mode or something like that, they are never even prompted that macros exist and are intended to run and that they should choose to allow them to run or not.
I would like to approach the problem in a way other than asking all employees to activate all macros or to lower their Excel security settings at all times or only when opening this single document. That would be considered too inconvenient.
I am designing (badly!) an excel file that is intended to be as user friendly as possible. I would like to add in a navigation feature using a list box or other appropriate control form that will take the user to the correct tab in the workbook depending on which item they choose from the list.
My aim is too hide all the tabs at the bottom whilst not crowding my page with multiple command buttons, and still be able to navigate easily through the workbook.
I have a cell (B2) in which there is a formula referencing the value of another cell with the purpose of generating a URL- ="[URL] such that when a numeric value is entered in B3, B2 is made to contain the full URL including B3 as a unique identifier.
I have a macro which straightforwardly copies B2 and pastes its value in the same cell, rendering the text value of the URL.
How do I go about activating the URL as a hyperlink in the macro? It seems like if I click in the cell and hit return, or right-click/Hyperlink.../OK I'm creating a macro to reference the exact unique identifier present at the time that I'm recording the macro- e.g. if B3 is "123", I'm setting the macro to set B2 as [URL] rather than the actual unique identifier in B3.
Has anyone successfully activated the content of a cell as a hyperlink dynamically based on its exact content?
Is there a way to activate a Macro with a conditional in one of the cells? It's like this, I want that if the content of A2 changes to "True" then C2,D2 and E2 change to bold and the background color change to yellow. Is there a way to do this?

If I try to get it to copy down through a range it loops endlessly back and forth between two values. I am sure that there is an easy way of accomplishing this. I have a program that has all Excel Workbooks in seperate instances of Excel. There is a very sound reason for doing this.
The user has maybe 3 to 10 workbooks open. There are times when a workbook is active and has a Macro Link to open one of the already open workbooks.
When the user clicks the link, they naturally get an error message stating that the workbook is already open. Then they have to close the error msg and click on the Macrosoft Tab and look thru the list of open workbooks and then click the one they are looking for. Additionally, in this Menu Program the user really doesn't even have to know the name of the various workbooks.
I hope everyone will believe me when I state that this program works berautifully.
Right now I am simply cleaning up and making a few little things work better.
QUESTION When the user clicks on a macro link that is to open a workbook that is already open, how - On error - can I have the macro continue on and activate the requested workbook - - - Please remember they are all in separate instances of Excel.
Since the code I'm using can determine if the requested workbook is already open, I think there has to be a way to activate that workbook.
I have a multi-sheet workbook. The first sheet is a summary of results from the rest of the workbook. I would like this summary sheet to auto-refresh itself each time the sheet is activated. The VBA code triggered by the Worksheet/Activate event feeds some parameters out to other sheets, then copies back the results to the summary sheet of the workbook.
While doing so, it keeps "reactivating" the first sheet, causing it to get into an endless loop that is triggered by the Worksheet/Activate event. Essentially, I'd like the Worksheet/Activate event to go dormant for 15 seconds or so each time it is triggered.
I need macro that can search through worksheets and identify text urls (pair Networks - World Class Web Hosting.) within a cell and activate just those URLs that are not activated. I have many workbooks containing many worksheets. The URL references are always located somewhere down in column A after word 'Source:' but can be in the middle of string of text in that row after 'Source:'

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a UDF in Cell Sheet1!A1 that inputs some ranges from Sheet1 and calculates a number. Then I have a sub that calculates the value of this function with Evaluate(Sheet1!A1.formula). However, this only works when I am in Sheet1. Otherwise, I get the wrong calculation. How can I avoid this? I will post the code in the open source forum as it otherwise is quite good and automatically resizes array functions to their proper size.

My problem is that I want the end user to be able to run the report multiple times by choosing the name of the macro from the Excel macro menu (i.e. Tools>Macro>Macros) but only one of the workbook macros shows up on the menu. why the other macro is not visible on this menu???

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several commonly used macros saved in my personal.xlsm file so I can tap into the power of these macros on all spreadsheets without having to re-create the macros in every worksheet I do.
The problem I have is that it's slow to recall these macros by clicking on the Developer-->Macros button. I'd much rather assign a hotkey to each...but the Hotkeys only work with ctrl+letter and I find that I accidentally assign my macros to hotkeys that are already hotkeys (example: ctrl+z for undo).
How can I create a macro that gives me a pop-up box with buttons I can push to activate the macro I need and then the pop-up box goes away after selecting the macro (something like a message box pop-up)?

So I want to add that send email macro into my Run all billing macro and it apply to all the macros I call.
I am having a problem trying to create a macro that will loop in order to create several macros. I have a long macro (call it mainmacro) that needs to be able to create several simple macros to be used by the user of the workbook. Each macro has a variable that needs to be taken from mainmacro. Each macro is different based on the value of the 'i' loop variable that the macro is created in. i'm sure im making this sound more complicated than it really is...basically:

I am trying to use the EnableMacros. zip script located here {url} But I am having a hard time making it work!
1. I have copied the module in EnableMacros.zip and imported it into my workbook.
2. I have placed identical code in my workbook's ThisWorkbook as is in the EnableMacros.zip's ThisWorkbook.
3. I have copied Sheet1 from EnableMacros.zip titled "Info Sheet". In MY workbook it is sheet7, but it is titled the "Info Sheet" in the EnableMacros.zip.
4. I have also copied sheet6 from EnableMacros.zip into my workbook and titled it "LoadScreen". In EnableMacros.zip the sheet is titled "Sheet1"

How can I possibly combine them all into ONE MACRO?
Everytime I open the excel file I am working on I get a message saying that the file contains macros.
I have deleted all the macros I could find under "Tools" and "Macros" but I still get Module1.sortie, sortie and sortie listed. I can delete Module1.sortie but for the other two, sortie and sortie, I only have the "cancel" and "create" options.
