View 9 RepliesI have data starting in E7. I want it to go down the column and find the negative numbers. If it finds one then I want it to change the number in the row to the left of it to a negative. So if E67 is a negative number, make D67 a negative and so forth down the line Sounds "simple" but how do I do it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a large dataset (24000 rows) that requires me to multiply two different columns of integers. In some cases, the two integers are both negative and multiplying them results in a product that is positive. I actually need that product to be negative rather than positive. I can't quite seem to figure out the best way to accomplish this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have data that comes from a subsytem that places the negative sign at the right of the number, so it is recognized as text. I can get around this using find and replace and then a second step to multiply that by -1, but is there a formula that can do this for me?
I was trying if(right(A1,1)="-",TBD,A1)
I have data in range J2:J365 , H368:H401 & J403:J827. i want to check wether this range have negative values or not if yes load all negative values in the listbox1 by clicking checkbox.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a round formula,
=round(D65-E65,4)
The issue with this formula is if D65 is 0...then the result is a negative number. Just for clarity,
D65=0, E65=10%.....
So I end up with -10%. I can't have a negative number so I'm looking if the result is negative then the cell just equals 0. Is this possible with an IF formula?
I need formula for if cell value = negative number e.g.(-2202) change cell value to 0
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a monthly forecast document that is updated by an operator monthly. At the end of the month, the operator presses a "Copy Accrual" macro that copies accruals for the month and stores them on a seperate tab. After sending the document back to the Finance team (necessary step due to software complications), Finance will send the operator back an updated file at beginning of next month. The operator than presses a "Paste Reversal" macro that is supposed to input the negative of the accrual stored in the seperate tab. The problem is that it is posting as the same value (not negative of value). I tried recording a Macro to fix this, but it did not work. An example of the code that came up with is:
Worksheets("Weekly Forecast").Select
Range("B9").FormulaR1C1 = "=-Accruals!RC[-4]"
Range("H9").Select
Selection.Copy
Range("H10:H33").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
Thoughts on what to do? I think the two things that are throwing me off is the negative, and moving between the different sheets.
I have an array formula which is working as expected returning the value of column K (offset by -1) if a number of criteria are matched.
[Code].....
The issue I'm having is there are occasionally duplicate values in column W and it's using the first value in its return, which isn't always correct.
Unfortunately due to the limited matches available the only way I can think to identify the correct value is by adding an additional criteria, which is that the correct value would always have a negative in Column X one cell above and to the right of where the value is being retrieved from. If there was no negative it would ignore this result.
Is there any way to add an additional criteria to the formula to stipulate that it must match a negative in column X but one cell above?
I've got 12 months worth of business accounts which have been downloaded onto a single spreadsheet.
These show negative and positive values. As I only want to work on the negative figs at the moment, how do I highlight the colour of the positive value cells or font to prevent any mistakes ?
if c12 = $(55.63) which is a negitive value i wont d12 to display OWE.
if c12 = $55.63 which is a positive value i wont d12 to display CREDIT.
These value can vary
How would i wrte this formula correctly?
=IF(SUM(I5:J26))-(SUM(D5:E26))>=0,0,(SUM(I5:J26))-(SUM(D5:E26)
It needs to say if the sum of the two cell ranges is less than or equal to zero then display as zero, otherwise display the answer
I have a worksheet in which the values in cells B8, H37, H42, H48 and H49 must be negative. Occasionally the values get entered as positive numbers.
I would like to use VBA code to automatically change the value from positive to negative.
It appears that the WorkSheet_Change event could be used to do this but I don't know what code to enter into the Sub.
In my first column I will be entering both negative and positive numbers. In the cell next to it I need the amounts to all show as positive only. So both negative numbers and positive in the first column will all show as positive in the adjacent column/cell.

How do I change a Positive number into a Negative number inside a cell formula?
I have a figure in Cell AE 101 which has the positive number 141
I have another cell W1 which has the positive number of 437
I want to create a formula in cell X1 that takes the number in cell AE 101 of 141 and convert the number inside the formula of 141 into a negative number of -141 and then subtracts that number from Cell W1 of 437 leaving an equation inside the formula to read. 437-141 = 296
Since the number in Cell W1 changes all the time and the number in AE101 Changes all the time the new formulated number in X1 will change all the time too as the cells get updated.

I have excel sheet with colored cells.
Positive cash flow cells all have green background,
Negative cash flow cells, all have red background.
I calculate all the "sub- total" columns into one "total sum" cell. Based on this "total sum" I want the cell background to be red if the total sum is negative, or green if total sum is positive. How do I make the cell change to the proper background color based on whether it's a negative or postive total sum?
Im trying to set up an active running inventory sheet where: (A)the progressive daily sheet cells reference back to the corresponding master sheet cells fluctuating the master values, (B) the same progressive daily sheet cells reference back to a cummulative totals-cell based on whether I added or subtracted inventory. I want to make a copy of the blank "sheet 2" with all of the formulas and move it to the end of the workbook each day and enter new values which will reference back to the master sheet so that I can click on a date sheet and see an individual day's values or click on the master sheet to see the fluctuating inventory on-hand and the cummulative +/- totals of all days combined. I've got a couple hundred individual cells to reference. I've tried and tried but I can't make it work. Heres what I need to do:
I need to reference individual cells from "sheet 2,3,etc" back to a corresponding cell in a master sheet. But I need the values in each cell in "sheet 2,3,ETC" to increase or decrease the corresponding cell values in the master sheet. For example: If the value in the master sheet B5 is 200. Then in sheet 2, I enter +50 in B5, I need the master sheet cell B5 to increase by 50 to 250. I also need a way to decrease the cell value in the master sheet B5 if I enter a negative value -50 in sheet 2 B5. I also want to know if I can reference the same cell values entered in "sheet 2,3,etc cell B5" back to totals columns C5 for adding inventory or D5 for subtracting inventory in the master sheet where the master totals columns would reflect cummulative totals added or subtracted. For example: if the value in sheet 2 B5 is +50, then the value in Master sheet C5 would add 50 to a progressive total. But if the value in sheet 2 B5 is -50 then the value in master sheet D5 would add -50 to a progressive total.
Formula for this? If a cell in column T is empty, use column U (but make it negative)??

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am tracking my working hours at night, so i type in the time i start and the time i quit like this:
A 1 start B 1 end
A 2 22:30 B 2 02:30
now i want to calculate the time between.
but since excel don't like the negative time i got a problem. i figure i must make a function something like
=IF(B2<A1,B2+24)
i have tried a few but i don't get the parameters right so i get errors,
I am trying to show how many years it will take for a retiree to run out of money.
row 1 is his available money (this in determined with other formulas such as income - expenses ect)
Row 2 is number of years (J2 would be 10 years)
Let's say available money turns negative on the 10th year (tenth column "J")
How can I write a condition statement that will say that says if the amount in row one is positive do nothing, but when it turns negative add row 2 of whatever column it turned negative in?
Example:
A B C D E F G H I J K L
5000442538503275270021251550975400-175-750-1325

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor simplicity sake I will put what I have in close proximity cells and what my issue is. I am taking a number A1 (7.7) and turning it into time A2 =A1/24 (7:42)
A3 (18:00) Which is our work start time. I am taking 7:42 min estimated work day hours and adding that to our start time of 18:00 for A4.
A4 =A2+A3 (1:42) This tells me that we should get done around 1:42 am
A5 I enter the actual time we finished. Let's say (2:23)
A6 =TEXT(MAX($A$4:$A$5)-MIN($A$4:$A$5),"-H::MM")
This gives me an answer of (23:19), but if I type over the formula in A4 (1:42) which is the answer to the formula and already has that number there, I get the answer (0:41) in A6 and that is the answer I want. I can't figure out why I can't get A6 to give me an answer of (0:41) with a formula in A4. I even tried having another cell formulate A4 and then A4 =that cell and it is still the same.
i have for example column I, J & K. col I and J has both negative & positive values and K (I/J) works out the %
Col I Col J col K
135975 583333 23%
-27748 583333 -5%
-18186 583333 -3%
272550 583333 65%
But i need a formula or formatting that always shows the negative percentage as a zero.
I need to delete a whole row if column J contains a negative number.
I am having difficulties finding the correct wording for picking up the negative value.
I can get it to delete using a word as the reference but not for negative values
Code:
Sub DeleteRows()
Dim c As Range
Dim SrchRng
Set SrchRng = ActiveSheet.Range("j1", ActiveSheet.Range("j65536").End(xlUp))
Do
Set c = SrchRng.Find("
I would like to add to this formula.... if the result of "$L$6-Q15", from below, is 0 or a negative number, then the desired result would be 0 for this formula.
Possibly wrapping IF AND somewhere in this...
=IF((O15+(K16*$L$5))>=$L$6,$L$6-Q15,K16*$L$5)
