I have a userform with several buttons on, each doing seperate tasks, three of the buttons however are used to load a workbook stored elsewhere in our central data storage drive. Loading these workbooks is not the problem, the problem is when loading these they load up behind the userform and not in a new window.
View 6 RepliesI compared data between excel worksheets all the time, well recently my computer was upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and since then I have not been able to figure out how to have an Excel file to open in the Excel window selected(or last active window) when I have more than one workbook open. Is there a way to do this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat I would like to do is to be able to open a second workbook from a user form, preform some work on it then save and come back to the same place in the original user form.
So in steps:
1 : user clicks command button to open user form
2: user then clicks on command button on userform that opens 2nd workbook via a yes / no message box, but closes userform on 1st workbook (would be ideal if this could stay open, but hidden)
3: user then does work on 2nd workbook,
4: userform on 2nd workbook saves then activates the 1st workbook and reopens the userform
This is where no matter what I try I cant get the command button on the 1st userform to be clicked automatically so the yes / no message box appears.

I have a Userform with a textbox in it. The user is asked to enter a serial number and press Enter. When the Enter key is pressed, I would like to search for that serial nember in "SourceWorkbook.xls", Sheet1, in column A (or B). If the Serial number is found it should be placed in "DestinationWorkbook.xls", Sheet1 Cell A1 etc. If no serial number is found I would like to display a message about it it. I have the UserForm being opened on Workbook_Open and the actual VBA for doing the work in a separate macro in the workbook. All the posts I have found are dealing with accessing cells from the UserForm and I haven't found any dealing with connecting a macro to the UserForm output.
My question is this: I want to return from the UserForm the flags of which reports to run to the (unopened) macro containing the code to do so. How do I open the macro and pass the variables to it?
The UserForm is creatively called "SelectionForm" and the macro is called "DailyFTP" with a Main sub as the entry. I know I can use the code under to capture the radio button and checkbox choices. I have other variables like the names of files set as global variables in the DailyFTP macro. The macro doesn't exist until SelectionForm opens it, so they must be set after the macro is in memory.
I have a workbook open. When I try to open a separate workbook, it opens already opened workbook (basically linking the workbooks as one). I want to have my workbooks on two separate screens this is preventing that. How to unlink these workbooks.

So, I've been trying to work out a distribution list. So far, my research has shown me how to code to be able to send a message through outlook by typing content into a spreadsheet, but I'm trying to find code that will simply open a new message window in outlook. I don't want to send it through excel as I've found to be possible b/c outlook is asking for permission to send to each recipient on the mailing list and we have a fairly large staff here, so clicking that button 20 times to allow the email to go through is more labor intensive than just verifying who's on the distribution list and sending.

I have created a spreadsheet some time ago and have been asked to improve on it but I'm rusty with VBA.
I have an automated ordering system that saves each sent order as the date e.g "05-04-2013.xls" but the management team want a graph with the data for the last 4 weeks compared. I have created a seperate workbook called "consumables report.xls" which has a column with the products listed followed by columns "Quantity" and "cost" which is repeated for the 4 weeks of the month.
I want to add a button to prompt the user to choose the saved order e.g "05-04-2013.xls" (all orders saved in same directory) to copy and paste the quantity and cost columns (c8,D69) into "consumables report.xls". I got this to work earlier but it would only paste the formulas and not the values. So I need
A prompt to open workbook
Copy range (c8,d69)
Close work sheet
Paste special .value (c8,D69)
I dont care if it has to open the workbook to copy the data as this will only be used once a month so it dosnt matter how slow the code is.

I have a spread sheet that I have written that has 2 html links in it. The links work, but they only open in one browser tab. How do I get them to open in different tabs? Opening in two different browser sessions would be acceptable too. I have Excel 2007 and IE 9 but the users may have different versions.

Is it possible to create a "floating" UserForm with VBA? That is, a form that is always on top af all the other windows. If not I think I will have to create an application in VB that imports data from the active Excel Spreadsheet, wich I have been lead to understand is fully possible. I have Monthly sales sheets that import my cash register data into them. I wanted to set them up to do everything without being there. So I have my task manager open excel at 9:30pm everyday and it runs the macro to import the data into the correct day of the month. Here is the workbook

I currently have a small userform placed at the bottom right of the screen (with a command button on it) and this opens up on top of excel instances and other applications/windows and it is set so that you can't interact with anything except the userform.
I wanted to minimize the userform and give focus to immediate next window (can be excel or non excel applications) for 10 seconds and then activate/show the userform back again, when the "Button 1" on the userform is clicked.
I tried hiding the userform, but this doesn't give focus to the immediate next window. Below is the code

I could only find answers for adding minimize and maximize buttons to userform.
When the button is clicked, it should perform
Step a - Minimize the userform
Step b - Give focus to the next immediate window behind the userform
Step c - Wait for 10 seconds
Step d - Bring back the userform its to state.
I have two wide screens, and I stretch excel over both of them to gain the most useable space. Sometimes I save a file while it's on the right screen. This causes problems for my boss, because she opens the file on her computer and it opens offscreen way to the right. I could have sworn there was a setting in excel to save or not save the workbook's window position, but now I can't find it.
