Parsing HTML From List Of URLs
May 1, 2013
I need some type of vba or macro that can extract text in between html tags from a list of URL's.
For example
I have a list of urls in column A
Columns B,C,D,E - are where different types of information from the website will go.
So B contains values of text between a <title> tag </title>
C will contain values of text between a <object> tag </object>
and so forth ....

I am trying to parse a section of html into excel but I don't know how to parse into a new row with each pattern rotation. I can do this both in Word and notepad++, but I can't find the same function of replace-with-line-break in excel's find-and-replace box.
Original html extract:
"shb":{"landline":"£1","mobile":"£1","text":"8p","mms":"24p"},"af":{"landline":"18p","mobile":"18p","text":"8p","mms":"24p"},"ak":{"landline":"3p","mobile":"3p","text":"8p","mms":"24p"},"al":{"landline":"10p","mobile":"25p","text":"8p","mms":"24p"},"dz":{"landline":"5p","mobile":"27p","text":"8p","mms":"24p"},
Results I need:
Capture.PNG
There is only one line as such in the entire page, so I don't need to loop through "blocks" of html codes with multiple lines.
I have had a look around and not sure what would be a good way to tackle this. RegEx (how to do it in excel macro)? HTML tags parsing (but these are not strictly tags)? I need to extract the correct section from page source as well, but I imagine this shouldn't be too hard. The url to the page I am extracting from is [URL] ........

I've got a long list of inventory items. The naming convention of these items is not totally consistent. Below is a representative sample of all the different kinds of names:
1800Brandacom (CLIENTA) 25.00
1800Brandacom 25.00
brandb (Variable)
BrandC-100.00-PL-ALG
brandd variable
[Code] .....
I need to separate out the name of the brand and the number (or if the item says "variable", use a 1 for the number) into two columns, so that the results would be:
1800Brandacom
1800Brandacom
brandb
BrandC
brandd
[Code] ....
and:
25.00
25.00
1.00
100.00
1.00
[Code] ....
For the numbers, I have used this array formula to search for the first letter in the string, and then search for the first number following the first letter, and then return all numbers up to "." Unfortunately this does not work consistently when there is a number in the middle of the brand name or the item has no number.
[Code] ....
For the names I have used this formula, which fails when the name has a "-" in it.
[Code] .....
Any way to extract the names and numbers which would work consistently across all the items!

I have two worksheets: A and B.
Worksheet A:Contains 2 columns: Issue# (Col. A) and Program (Col. B).
Issue# contains a list of multiple issues. There are several instances in which the issue# is repeated.
Any particular Issue# field may have several issues in it, delimited by a comma.
Program is a program associated with the issue and this column also contains duplicates.
Worksheet B:Contains 1 column: Issue# (Col. A)
This is a unique list of issues#'s.
All Im looking to do is parse all Issue#'s from Worksheet B and have some way of knowing if that issue# is anywhere in Worksheet A. Most importantly, I need the "indicator" to be displayed on Worksheet A. This way I can see what program(s) is/are associated with the matching issues.
A couple other notes:All Issue#'s in Worksheet B are referenced at least once in the Worksheet A Issue# list
There are several issues in Worksheet A which are not referenced in the issue list on worksheet B (of which I dont care about)
I really hope that makes sense, but if not...
Here's the best example I could come up with: ....

What I want to do is select other options in IE html drop down list. But somehow the other methods I read online doesn't work with my situation. I got either "Variable or Block Variable not set yet" or "Property or Method doesn't apply" errors. The following is the VBA code I have so far:
[Code]...
and the following is html code of the web page:
HTML Code:
<div id="reports">
<h6>Name ~ Doc Date</h6>
<select name="dxr_report" size="1"
onchange="changeReport('form')">
<option value="file1" selected = "selected"
[Code] .......
I tried IE.document.getElementByName("dxr_report").Value = "file2" to choose the file2 but failed.
I also tried IE.document.all.Item("dxr_report").Vaule = "file2", doesn't work either.

I am looking to extract URL's from a excel sheet.
Actually,, I have some software, which I have opened in notepad,
and then copied the data into excel.
The data is a mess.
It has had loads of unwanted characters etc. I've managed to clean this all up now.
What I'm looking for if possible is to extract all URLs to another worksheet.
As an example, I have 1 sheet that has 1654 rows of data, that goes right to
column DK.
All URLs now have 1 space before it and 1 space after it,
For example:
(space)[url](space)
or
(space)[url](space)
If possible, I would like to be able to run a macro that would
look at this worksheet and find all the URL's, then return
them into a new spreadsheet in a list,,, and if possible
not returning duplicates,
(If it does find dups if a pop up could mention how many dups deleted)
if this is hard to do then no worries at all.
As a note,I'd spent a while looking for a macro to delete all unwanted characters,, found 1,,
so for info purposes, I post it below, seemed to run fine;
but if there are any other alteratives/suggestions, I'm all ears
Sub clean()
Dim vAddText(0 To 38) As String
vAddText(0) = Chr(1)
vAddText(1) = Chr(2)
vAddText(2) = Chr(3)
vAddText(3) = Chr(4)
vAddText(4) = Chr(5)
vAddText(5) = Chr(6)
vAddText(6) = Chr(7)
vAddText(7) = Chr(8)

I need to create a lot of web queries to extract data from several webpages. The web pages all have the same url except the last string of numbers, e.g. ww.somewhere.com/lookup.html?type=[x] where [x] is just one or more integers that are in sequential order.
I want to create around 50 web queries (maybe more later) without doing this manually. Is there any way to put these urls in a column and have excel read through them and query the data?

I am having problems extracting URLs from data in Column (column A) and displaying them in Column B. I watched 'MrExcel's Learn Excel #664 - Extracting Links' on youtube [URL] (about 2.40 is where the final code is displayed) and it is the perfect solution with the following code:
Sub GetLinks()
For Each hl In ActiveSheet.Hyperlinks
Cells(hl.Parent.Row, 2).Value = h1.Address
Next hl
End Sub
However when i go to run the macro in Office 2007, I receive an error: runtime error 424 object required, and the 3rd row is highlighted when i hit the debug button. This is actually my first time using VBA but as far as I can tell, I replicated the exact same code which is supposed to populate urls in column B.

I am trying to create a spreadsheet for an online gift registry. They require that the spreadsheet have the photo's url's in a column. I already have the spreadsheet filled with my data. In the spreadsheet, Column D is filled with unique numbers, some with parenthesis, (ex. 52011, 52011(2), 34132, etc.)
I also have a folder full of images that are similarly formatted as such
"...imagesrand_name_52011.jpg". (They will be moved eventually to a webserver.) Each number in the column may or may not have a corresponding image. And the images may or may not have a corresponding number in the spreadsheet. Is there a way to generate a url automatically in a column that corresponds to the image with the matching number? And if it doesn't, just leave it blank?

Paste URL as Hyperlink: I just want to paste a bunch of urls into a spreadsheet and have them automatically formatted as urls. i've checked my auto-correct options, and i have selected the checkbox that says: replace as you type/internet and network paths with hyperlinks.
See attached. if you copy and paste a url into the spreadsheet, it will be formatted as text.
Format Existing URLs as Hyperlinks : the attached spreadsheet contains urls that have been copy & pasted. is there a way to format them as hyperlinks all at once?

I have a column of cells over 2000 rows that have a bunch of text in each cell. In the middle of this text in each cell are websites (not hyperlinked). I was wondering if someone wrote a macro or formula to extract URLs located in a bunch of text? I can parse this out but doing some delimiting but that will take longer.

I have a text file that has data at various time steps say 0,1,2,3 etc. In each loop, the output data is recoreded that contains numbers and strings. I want to parse certain info from this text file.
Say I am interested in reading the data for very last time step, so when I open the text file for reading, I want to move down to the Time Step 3 line. Then I want to read the text line by line, any time I encounter the word WIND, I want to skip five spaces and pick up the number that appears there. I want to paste this value to say cell A1 in a sheet called ParsedData. I want to continue reading till the end while picking all such values and filling the ParsedData sheet A2, A3, A4 ... cells till the end.

macro that will parse data that has been pasted in to Excel from a text document. Once the macro is executed the pasted data will be sent to a separate spreadsheet and parsed horizontally with the data residing in is respective cell.
Here is an example of my data from text:
FIRST: Frank
MIDDLE: N.
LAST: Stien
ADDRESS: APT14
STREET: Halloween
ZIP CODE: 123456
CITY: Scaryville
STATE: Scary Ya
COUNTRY: Transilvania
COMMENT: N/A
Here is an example of my desired results:
A2:Frank, B2:N, C2:Stien, D2:APT14, E2:Halloween, F2:123456, G2:Scaryville, H2:ScaryYa, I2: Transilvania, J2:N/A
The data is always pasted in A2 on the first sheet, and varies somewhat in length but the format is always the same.

I have been given a set of data from one of our clients with company and address information in a Microsoft Word document. The data is not formatted into fields delimited by either a comma or tab and none of the fields has a heading of any sort. The data flows vertically rather than horizontally. I have imported the data into Excel in the hopes of being able to break out the data into an Excel or csv format in which the data can be imported into a Filemaker Pro database. Its format is the following:
Company Name (cell A:1)
Address (cell A:2)
City (cell A:3)
State (cell A:4)
Zip (cell A:5)
telephone (cell A:6)
I have tried recording a macro that moves the data from cell A:1 into cell B:1, then cell A:7 into cell B:2, etc. But have failed to get a macro to work that runs through all of the data in column A:A. The data is consistent - that is, there are only the 6 rows of data. Is it possible to write a code that moves the data from cell A:1 (the company name) into cell B:1, then skips 6 rows to cell A:7 (the next instance of a company name) and moves cell A:7 into cell B:2. The same procedure would then be run on the address, city, zip, and telephone.

I am attempting to automatically (once a week) pull down the data from this site (http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/esc/oe/plan...bidsum_csv.php) which is posted in a csv and parse it. While this may seem to be a simple process, the people who posted the CSV did not take into account that there are dollar values in the data in the millions and billions. As a result, a normal comma parse does not work since it splits the values.

Here is an example of some data I need to parse.
IN: CS, Test 2A-1, CBL, PHL, South Penn I/L, Loc P10, 49C-Loc P11B, AP 1.5
That code that I have so far:
select t.description,
REGEXP_SUBSTR(t.DESCRIPTION, '[^,]+', 1, 1) col_1,
REGEXP_SUBSTR(t.DESCRIPTION, '[^,]+', 1, 2) col_2,
REGEXP_SUBSTR(t.DESCRIPTION, '[^,]+', 1, 3) col_3,
[Code] .......
I have 2 problems:
1st problem is that for COL 7, all i want in there is the "49C", I'm currently getting " 49C-Loc P11B".
My ultimate goal is to get any number that is before the C and the C itself. The number before the C could be 1 to 3 digits.
2nd problem is Column 9. That snipit of data will always start with an "A", have another alpha, then a space, then a number. I'm trying to just get the number.
