View 11 RepliesI have a file that contains detailed sales information for each sales person. It typically contains over 20k records and the managers find it difficult to look up their sales people.
Currently it is subtotaled for each sales person but there are about 450 sales people across the country and it's not easy to use.
I have seen other Excel files that use buttons and I am wondering if this might be the solution to this issue. In other words, can I create a button where the managers can just click it, key in their sales person's name and get at the records easier? If so, how does that work? How I could make this file more user friendly.
I have a button that executes a macro which basically activates a worksheet. I wish to put a password which would allow only certain users to access this worksheet through this button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an excel spread sheet with say 20 or so sheets. Sheet 20 known as "Rates" is hidden. What I would like to do is when the user presses a command button say on sheet 1 he is asked for a password which will unhide the Rates sheet . If he gets it wrong a message pops up say incorrect please try again or have an exit button to cancel.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a toggle button that is clicked to hide the score details (using a macro). I need this button to have some sort of password protection because only I should be able to see the score!
I've tried to use the '.protect .unprotect' function, but its not doing exactly what I want it to so Im not sure I even need it there!
Here is my code..
Option Explicit
Private Sub ToggleButton1_Click()
Sheet1.Unprotect
With Range("78:88").EntireRow
.Hidden = Not .Hidden
End With
Sheet1.Protect
End Sub
I want to password protect a command button, so that when a user clicks the button, it prompts them for a password before the button is enabled.

I still get the password box pop up but it is smaller and does not contain the read only button.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have made an excel sheet for multiple choice questions, in which person needs to click on submit button after completing with the test & pop up will say "Your score is__". Now, I want to want to add one more button named "Reset". I want below :
results:
1. Person should not be able to make any changes after clicking on "Submit" button.
2. If one tries to click on "Reset" button, it should ask for password.
3. After keying password for "Reset" button, all questions should be reset so that next person can give test.
I have attached an example excel sheet for reference : DoM1.xlsm‎
I'am trying to make a button that will let me send a email via outlook. trick is work book is password protected but need to send some of the data contained to perssonel that dont have the password so sending teh complete work book doesnt work just need something simple. I have learned all ( little) i know from reading and searching here.
no links to other sites as my firewall here at work will possibly reject it
I need to create a button in an Excel workbook that does the following.
1) Asks for password
2) Uses that password to unlock the workbook
3) Runs a macro that does the following
a) Shows sheet tabs turned off via unchecking the box in options
b) Unhides 3 hidden tabs
I would like to create a command button that is available on my worksheet at all times. When clicked the user would be prompted for a password and then if correct a macro would run. If the password is incorrect then the user would receive an error message "You do not have access to run this maco" and he could go back to entering his values.
I have userform in excel which asks user to enter user id and password. I want a to have "Remember Me" check button on my userform which will remember user details and he wouldn't have to enter user id and password again and again.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI would like to set up an Excel spreadsheet for conducting a time and motion study in a workplace setting where someone follows an employee around to document how much time is spent on a variety of activities. Since the person would have a mobile tablet PC to walk around with and track the data, I would like to capture 3 fields of information:
1) Category of function being performed
2) Start date/time of function
3) Stop date/time of function
For #1, I would like to have a drop down box that appears in each row of Column A with a predefined list (i.e. Activity A, Activity B, Activity C, etc.). For #2 and #3, I would like to create a macro that "timestamps" the current date/time when a blank cell is "clicked".
I have joined here with a great expectation. I used the Forum MR Excel , i posted my question there but no one replied . I hope i will get the answer to my question here. My question is
I Have Combo box
When i click on it i get three Things which i have inputed in the list .
1 ) Machine
2 ) Car
3 ) Bike
With each list , a seperate sheet is assign with complete details like machine for machine sheet , car for car sheet and bike for bike sheet .
Now what i want is when i click on the machine i want the Machine sheet to popup within the same workbook , and when i click car i want the car sheet to popup and same for Bike .
I tried to Assign Macro , but for each list , i am getting the same / last result
here is the code
I have a userform which takes a large amount of sequential geographical data and builds a theoretical model of my layout whithin excel. However I would now like to incorperate an interactive aspect to this userform. I have written code which draws a line diagram whithin a seperate CAD app and imports it as a picture to the excel userform each time the user updates the data, but I would like to be able to select different areas whithin the data by clicking in the appropriate place on the picture in the form. I know this kind of interactivity is a bit beyond visual basics line of duty but my model MUST stay whithin the confines of excel thereforwe my front end must remain VBA for the time being.
My other option is to build up a diagram out of smaller components (boxes etc) whithin the userform. This would be entirely acceptable, however I'm not too sure if its possible to 'create' new pictures on the form from whithin the code.
I've managed to get the following macro working except for one small thing - the link to the folder where the spreadsheet (that will be attached to the email) resides (which I got to work fine in a macro to send out tasks) just ends up as plain text and is not clickable
Make this link clickable in the email so that when the recipient receives the email they can just click on the link and go straight to the relevant folder please? (I've highlighted the line with what I would like to work as a link in red)
I've found countless, very useful macros that do 1/3 of what i need. My needs:
1) A macro to look in a set network folder, and generate a list of Excel files, and display them (1 per row, just the file name if possible)
2) Each file name is a hyperlink to open that sheet
3) A macro to look at the file listed above, then list in the column B a value from a set cell. So it would ideally output:
1| RH0018.xls A1CellValue
2| RH0019.xls A1CellValue
3| RH0020.xls A1CellValue
I had someone look up a price on a website, for a list of part numbers, and copy the link to the website page into my spreadsheet.
Now I want to transfer the price and link to my main spreadsheet.
I know how to use VLookup to get the info to my main spreadsheet but when I transfer the link using VLookup it does not come as a hyperlink that I can click on and be sent to the webpage. It is just text.
How do I convert the links to a hyperlink that I can click on and be sent to the webpage?
I have 1200 records.
When opening a new Excel file, it is asking me for a password to an old excel file that was password protected, which I have deleted from my computer. It is still asking for this password every time I open a new or existing file. When I hit cancel it lets me open the file.

I am havng problems with the belwo macro code -
Range("G7").Select
Selection.Copy
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"Q:PublicPAYMENTS Q&RREPORTSSuspense Activity BUSINESS2008 - Suspense BUSINESS - Activity Reports2008 Avon.xls"
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveWorkbook.Save
ActiveWindow.Close
End Sub
When i open the workbook it requires me to insert a password, i tried to type this but excel will not follow keystrokes, i then inserted the password in cell G7 which i then copy and paste, which you can see the copy at the beginning of the macro.
Is there a way where you can get it to insert the password so i can open the workbook in a macro.
What im trying to do is save 26 suspense spreadsheets by just clicking on a macro.
I have a sheet that is password protected. I have this code attached to a command button. It will unlock the worksheet, autofilter it, print it, unfilter it, and password protect the sheet again. However it is protecting it without a password. I need to have it protected with the password so that someone will not be able to just go to tools to unprotect the sheet.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "rainforest"
Columns("O:O").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=">0", Operator:=xlAnd
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1
Selection.AutoFilter
ActiveSheet.Protect DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True _
, AllowSorting:=True, AllowFiltering:=True
End Sub
I have a togglebutton for an excel sheet in use for scoring psychological tests. When pressed, the button higlights the cells where a raw score is inserted.
What I need is a code to higlight the togglebutton when pressed, eg. green (colorindex 4). The button is white. How to do this?
Below is the code, It has more lines than needed, but it works.
Private Sub ToggleButton1_Click()
'FKV TOGGLE'
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "manisk"
If ToggleButton1 Then

I received this code from an example I found once upon a time that was originally submitted by someone else. Right now the code enters the current date in a cell of the same row as the checkbox when it's checked. I need to revise it, or come up with something similar, that will reference the value of a cell when it is in the same row as the button (from the Forms toolbar) that is clicked to activate the macro. First of all, I don't know how to reference a Forms button in VBA.
Sub Process_CheckBox()
Dim cBox As CheckBox
Dim LRow As Integer
Dim LRange As String
LName = Application.Caller
Set cBox = ActiveSheet.CheckBoxes(LName)
' Find row that checkbox resides in
LRow = cBox.TopLeftCell.Row
LRange = "B" & CStr(LRow)
'Change date in column B, if checkbox is checked
If cBox.Value > 0 Then
ActiveSheet.Range(LRange).Value = Date
'Clear date in column B, if checkbox is unchecked
Else
ActiveSheet.Range(LRange).Value = Null
End If
End Sub
Here is some other code I already created. Unfortunately, because I don't know how to do the row reference, I had to create 25 different macros, which just bulks up the size of my file and slows it down. But here is what I'm trying to accomplish in my macro:.............
I currently am using a form button to create new rows.
I need two different kind of buttons. I have a button that does this-
VB:
Sub InsertRow()
'this inserts a row where the button is clicked.
Dim r As Range
[Code]....
However, when I try and create these codes using a Command button (I need it for the color), I get the error
"unable to get the buttons property of the Worksheet class"
P.S one other thing, say the button is in row 3, and Cells A1 and A2 are merged, when you click the button in row 3, it should extend the merge to A3.
i want to create a save button in sheet 1, on clicking the same the data entered in the particluar cells of sheet 1 should get saved in sheet 2 in given format

The following code assigns buttons to each employee in column B. At the moment the code I have is able to assign the macro "Zip" to each button.

Now, this Zip macro is able to zip the file for the employee "Anthony Tran". However I need it to be able to recognise which employee's button I've clicked and search the same files as above except with that employees name instead of "Anthony Tran".
If it makes things easier, the code for creating buttons for each employee is able to name that button as the employees name that it represents.
This is probably really straight forward but cant see why it happens, the following macro works fine when called by a button created by the form toolbar but doesnt when called by a command button, get the runtime error 1004, "select method of range class failed"
ActiveSheet.Select
Range("B4:B37").Select
Selection.ClearContents
