View 6 RepliesIn Excel 2010 I need to place a text box between the X axis and the bottom border of a chart.
How can increase the white space between the X axis and the bottom border to allow me to do this?
Two questions:
1) How do make values on x-axis as words? E.g. apples, oranges, etc.
2) Is it possible to have the numbers on x-axis in descending order? If I can figure out 1), I can do this as well, but it would be nice to know if it is possible to have the numbers on x-axis in descending order.
I have a spreadsheet with golfers handicaps, golfers names down the left in column A in rows 3-35. Row 2 has the event numbers titles 1 to 18 (18 events in a year). i need a graph that has the person as the vert axis and the horizontal axis needs to be the event numbers, so i can read down for the person and across to see how there handicaps change from each different event. i have attached the data below.

It all works fine but I've noticed an odd quirk which I can't explain nor can I seem to fix. Here's the (reduced) code :

The category (x) axis title should be horizontal, whereas the value (y) axis title should be rotated. Stepping through the code, when I .SetElement for the category axis title, it appears horizontal as planned. However, as soon as I .SetElement for the rotated value axis title, the category axis title also rotates.
I have some numeric data that has to be put on a log chart. but there is no option for log charts. so i converted my data to log and then drew a chart but i am unable to edit the axis intervals and starting axis value. whenever i change the value it gets back to its default value,ie 1. can anyone tell me how to draw log chart or how to edit axis intervals and starting axis value?

Pressure ( PSIA) Solubility (mol %) Velocity (m/s)
200 0.024 1
300 0.036 1.2
400 0.041 1.8
I need the two x axis to be pressure and solubility and the y axis to be velocity, with the data being demonstrated by a single plot (I have only managed it with two plots which does not demonstrate solubility's relationship to pressure ).
For example at a pressure of 200 PSIA (lower x-axis) and solubility of 0.024 mol % (upper x-axis) velocity was found to be 1 m/s.

how to incorporate another category and value axis to my existing chart.
1. I need to add a rank axis derived from my data column (C6-C15). This column should rank from highest to lowest and create a tie if any number is repeated. I have arranged the rank column in cells B38:L38 as they would appear. I would like this to appear on the top or bottom of the bar graphs.
2. Second I need to add the frequency of hits which = 3 derived from cell J1 This should appear on the chart were it is currently titled. This should create another bar graph colored green and labeled 3.
3. Lastly the numbers axis can remain the same as it appears on the chart or if it would be better to align as shown in cells B43:L43.
What is the best way to have both horizontal and vertical axis as value axis?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to format some TextBoxes from within a For/Next loop. I need a way to check which TextBox is the active TextBox in the loop. Using i as the variable, I came up with this code snippet: Me.Controls("TB" & i).Text = Format("TB" & i, "mm/dd/yy")
If i = 3, this gives me in TextBox3 (which is called TB3) the text 'TB3' and not the value of what is in TB3. It has got to bo something simple, I just can't see it!!!
What is the easiest way to have a button added into a certain cell? Basically I have my workbook enter columns into a certain sheet. When a column is added into that sheet, I want to also add a button, that gives the option to delete the column that it is sitting in. I tried to record macros to figure it out, but I didnt have any luck figuring out logic behind the button placement.

if its possible to place a value (the product of a formula) into a cell ie:
Cell A1 = "a"
Cell A2 = "b"
I would like to be able to say: If A1="a" and A2="b", then place "Yes" into D1.
I realize that =if(and(a1="a",a2="b"),"Yes",0)
placed in D1 would give the same result, but I do not want to have a formula in D1, I simply want the characters "Yes" placed in there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if someone could give me some sample code on how I can get a chart to appear on a userform. What I have is a userform that allows the users to change the inputs that are used in preparing the chart. Then I want a second userform to display the new chart.
I searched the posts and saw reference to saving it as a picture but I am not sure how to go about this. Can I save it as a picture within the excel file? Or does it have to be external. If so, how is this done. And can I do it without interupting what the user is doing on the forms.
I have an excel file which I run every week. I am capturing the data from my last run onto a separate worksheet. I have a total of 5 columns.

I have created a user form (thanks Datsmart), and now need to place the data that will be inserted in that userfom onto my spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet will have 50 rows, each containing a different project. There will be a button on each row to activate the user form for that specific row. They click the button on the spreadsheet, and the user form opens. They enter the data on the user form, and once they click the "add comment" button on the user form, the data should be entered in the last cell of the row on which the button is located.
Now the complicated part:
The users will use that for to update the project from week to week, but each week's comment needs to go in the same cell, but above the previous comment.
IE:
Week 1
Jan 1: Project lauched
Week 2
Jan 6: Project budget submitted
Jan 1: Project lauched
Week 3
Jan 22: Budget approved
Jan 6: Project budget submitted
Jan 1: Project lauched
The date being the date from the user form, and the comment being the comment from the user form. If the latest date can be bolded that would be a bonus.
They each have to go in the same cell cause all relate to the same project. This same thing will be repeated 50 times for each different project.
i have a spred sheet that i am trying to give them scores from highest 10 down to 6 then anyone under will get 5
However if there is a tie for first they will each get 10 then the next will only get 8

I am trying to have 8 various shapes placed on running pages alphabetically, ie 8 modules to a page being 2wide by 4 high. There would be say 200 entries of various combinations and names equating to 80 pages If these can be sorted alphabeitically by name then placed on subsequent pages. Is this possible in excel or in "VB"

The first 5 collumns are stagnant, and will never change throughout the project. The only one that will be updated on a weekly basis will be the "latest activity" collumn.
So in week 2 the above 2 projects would look like this:

The latest activity (in the example they are dated Jan 23) are what I am looking to control by using the userform. On the user form there are 2 textboxes, 1 for date and the other for the "latest activity:" text. Once the user completes the 2 textboxes on the userform, they click a button, and the new information should be entered in the same cell as the previous activity, but on a different line and above the last activity.
It simply to maintain some sense of order in the activity area of the report. As various users fill in this section, they all do it differently....(each use a different date format, some hit alt-enter to get to the next line within the same cell, some just att to the end, some put in the mnext cell etc) and by the time it gets back to me it is a mess, and I have to spend a day tidiying it up.
I would like to add a vertical axis to the right of my plot that looks exactly the same as the left axis. The only way I found to do this is to add a secondary axis. However this axis is based on a data series and it does not match the left axis.
How can I make the left and right vertical axis look the same.
Any way to get the values in a chart/graph by putting an specific X axis value.
E.g. There is relation between Gauge height and Flow

If I draw the curve with Flow on X-axis and Gage on Y-axis and then want to know the flow at Gage 0.53m.
OR
By putting flow value to know Gage height.
I have on sheet 2 in column D names of cities the vary like Sydney Brisbane could be twice but each week the cells could have difference city in them. In column F it will have a number in them a difference number each week . I need the total of the number that matches the city added up on sheet 1 that matches the city in sheet 1 which on sheet one the city never moves.

When the button is pressed it reworks the worksheet and adds in some additional rows (up to 10 max). I'd like it so that the procedure also moves the button down keeping it in line with approximately the last row of data but not sure how to do this with vba...
