Part of my code adds a Worksheet to the selected Workbook and then re-orders them alphabetically, but one of the Worksheets (Called home) should always remain at position 1. Is there a way to dictate exactly which postion it should be in so that I can place it there after the sort is complete?
I have an expanding worksheet and would like to move a button so that it is always near the bottom of the worksheet data. When the button is pressed it reworks the worksheet and adds in some additional rows (up to 10 max). I'd like it so that the procedure also moves the button down keeping it in line with approximately the last row of data but not sure how to do this with vba...
I have rankings from several different sources all with different rankings for different people with a different number of people in each set of rankings.
I would like to match the names from each ranking set and place the corresponding ranking into one worksheet. I have done this without the code but over the course of the next couple of months the rankings will be changing.
I have them importing from the web so when they update I would also like for my rankings to update. Attached is the rankings each in their own worksheet. The final sheet is what the end product looks like.
I have a simple one-column section (column A) of values in Sheet1:
Column-A Hal Sonny Betty Adam James
I would like to sort this, but have the sorted results displayed in Column-A of Sheet2.
How can I do this?
Note: I need to be able build flexibility into this such that I can add names to the bottom of the list in Sheet1, knowing that the results in Sheet2 will be able to accomodate the additions.
I want to find a way to create multiple worksheets and matching data to be placed on appropriate sheets.
Here are more details (Please check the attached sheet screenshot as well):

In a workbook, there is a "Master-Sheet". This master sheet contains 8 columns.
I want to create as many new worksheets after master sheet as the values are there in column B (Column 2 i.e. Ad Group). In above attached screenshot, there are 8 values (B2:B9 or A-H). So, I would like to create 8 new worksheets after the master sheet. Also, I want to rename them based on their value from Ad Group column.
Each newly created worksheet should have same columns as the master sheet . Same 8 columns with their name intact.
Finally, I want all matching data of the Ad Group values to be placed on their respective newly created worksheet. For example, worksheet A should have A2:H2 data. Worksheet B should have A3:H3 data, and so on.
Please note that same ad group may have more than one row data. But I don't want to create multiple worksheet of same name ad group. The worksheet should be just one, but all matching data should be placed in that one sheet.
I know it is a bit complex task, but I am sure there would be a way to perform this automatically - probably a macro.
I'm having some difficulties in defining my formula. I'm pretty sure that this should be possible. I have a table containing values and dates. For each change in dates, I should summarize every value for that date. I cannot use the autosummarize function, because I do not want the sum to be beneath the values, rather in a column to the right of the values.
I have created a formula which checks for a change in date: =IF(C15=C16;0;1) where the C column contains the dates. Basically I say that the Index column should contain a 0 if the date is the same as previously registered, 1 if it is a new date.
The index column is used in some conditional formatting rules, so I would like to keep it anyway.
I have one Popup Menus in Userform, But i want to to Open Popup menu in Specific Position in userform, In Fixed Position,i want to specific a position which opens Popup Menus in Userform.
I have a very large file of data, over 500,000 rows, opening in one sheet in Excel is not an option with my current version. In each row I need to change the characters in positions 41-44 from whatever they current are, to '9999'. I'm sure there has to be a way I can do this using vba, does anyone have a sample snippet of code, or another post they can point me too?
In one column I want to reference the maximum value entered in another column. In a third column, I want to refernce a different row that is in the same column as the maximum value.
I have a bit of a complicated one here so I have attached my book, its probably easier to undertstand the query by looking at the book. Hopefully somebody can help me out here.
I have 2 worksheets:
A results worksheet - this contains all category of results, each category has been given a specific sort id.
A foreign worksheet - this contains all categories found on the results worksheet with sort id = 7.
Now the complicated bit. The whole exercise is too pick up the correct exchange rate for the foreign category (sort id 7). each foreign type has a specific number at the end of its description in brackets e.g (3).
At the bottom of the "results worksheet" is a key which says what type of exchange rate to use for this type e.g. (3) Price of CAD 22.9 converted using exchange rate of CAD 1.9645 = £1.
What I need to do is on the foreign worksheet, it to recognise the number in the item description, keep it in mind then switch over to the "results worksheet" find the keys at the bottom of the page (the key is not necessarily in the same place all the time!!), match the number in the items description with the corresponding key and then find the exchange rate.
As i said very difficult to explain, since I reletively zero experience with this kind of work in excel. Luckily I been muddling my way through a work project gradually thanks to a forum member here. so i hope we can keep this up!
edit: two restrictions in the way this solution can be done: 1- Results worksheet can not be modified, but it can be referenced to using INDIRECT, and you can make any number of modifications outside of the results worksheet. 2. Any solution must be automatic. /edit
I have attached my workbook and highlighted the bits I need to fill and the picks I need to pick up.
Would be ever so grateful if some1 could show me the light here.
Using excel and Crystal Ball I generated a workbook that calculates via VBA Value at Risk and diverse financial charts and ratios.
I have a second workbook, the template, where this values are pasted generating a report.
Up to this point the macro works correctly, the problem is that some of the Crystal Ball charts are pasted as images and I dont know how to "handle" this images.
I reached the point where I can paste the image in the template.
I want the macro to:
1) Detect the images in the template worksheet 2) Determine a position and size for each image
Is it possible by using Visual Basic coding to position an image on a worksheet so that no matter what the screensize is it will always appear in the center of the screen, a corner or a side?
I have written a small piece of code that handles clicks on buttons on an excel spread sheet. When a button is pressed, i need to know the row number where the button resides in.
I have searched and read about this issue on several forums, and they all indicate that i need to use something like
application.caller.topleftcell.row
to get the row number and
application.caller.topleftcell.column
to get the column number.
However, when i use the row variant, it ALWAYS returns row number 1. When i use the column variant, it returns the column number it is actually in.
i have added the full code that is creating the buttons below, and also the part that displayes the rownumber that is incorrect.
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim name Dim time As Integer time = InputBox("Typ the hour you are checking" & vbCrLf & "eg: 7, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19", "Which Check")
The code behaves differently in Excel 2002 and 2007. In 2002 it returns the row the button sits on, but 2007 returns the cell above the button. This could be because the workbook is an XLS running in Excel 2007 in compatibility mode? Is there a way to "nudge" the button down a little after it has been placed using .top/.left ? Or is the only way around this something like;
Range(ActiveSheet.Buttons(Application.Caller).TopLeftCell.Address).Activate count = ActiveCell.Row If Application.Version >= 12 Then count = count + 1 End If
Is this a bug, or something that I am doing wrong ? The workbook needs to be a .xls to ensure that it works in older versions of Excel.
I need a macro that will create a new blank worksheet, move it to the last spot and paste the entire contents of the sheet named "master" into the newly created sheet. I have tried to do this with the recorder but have been unable to get it to work.
I'm having a 6000+ records, (contacts DB) exported in Excel 2003 format from MS Outlook.
Except the "First" and "LastName", all other contact elements are in the field "Notes" (which is the BZ column according to the exported outlook layout) multiplied by 6469 (records in total)
Now, I want every time to take the part of the text says "TER:something..." (part of which is date, but not every time with the known format dd-mm-yyyy, as you see here is yyy, followed by something else, with parenthesis here and maybe more data) and copy it in a new cell..., e.g:CO Column, same Row...
Above and every field which by the way is formatted as General (and it is text mainly) are made by merging older excel fields where data laid here and there, that's why you see the commas...with the method of a module with the following code:
Function MyMerge(Rng As Range) For Each Cell In Rng Temp = Temp & Cell.Value & ", " Next Cell Temp = Mid(Temp, 1, Len(Temp) - 2) MyMerge = Temp End Function
Note1:Records with the above string (TER:dd-mm-yyy) are 771 from 6469. Note2: As an alternative solution I can see an extraction of the TER:dd-mm-yyy string and the copy in a new place, like the:CO Column, same Row...
I would like to change the greater than number to the value in cell 'I11' in sheet 'Linear Programming Data' and the less than number to the value in cell 'I12' in sheet 'Linear Programming Data'. The code I am using was done by recording a macro since I don't know how to code in vba.
Code: Sub Results2() ' Results2 Macro ' copy table filter power by greater than and less than Sheets("Finalizing Results 2").Select Cells.Select
What I am trying to do is to write a macro that will automatically copy six columns from worksheet (Sheet 1) to another worksheet (Sheet 2). i.e. ‘Description of Project’, ‘WBS Code’, ‘Rate’, ‘Employee Name’, ‘Premium’, ‘Invoice’, ‘Status’, ‘Total Cumulative Hours’, ‘Total Cumulative Amount’ from Worksheet (from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2)
The problem arises as I know the names of the columns to be copied in Sheet 1 (as details above) but they can be in any order in sheet 1.
In additional the columns ‘Total Cumulative Hours’, ‘Total Cumulative Amount’ are total columns so when they are copied from ‘Sheet 1’ to ‘Sheet 2’ their values should be copied as opposed to the formulas
What is the easiest way to have a button added into a certain cell? Basically I have my workbook enter columns into a certain sheet. When a column is added into that sheet, I want to also add a button, that gives the option to delete the column that it is sitting in. I tried to record macros to figure it out, but I didnt have any luck figuring out logic behind the button placement.
If I have 1 Jan thru 31 Dec in A1 - A365, is there a way I can identify every weekend by placing 'X' in Col B alongside every occurrence of Saturday and Sunday?
I was wondering if someone could give me some sample code on how I can get a chart to appear on a userform. What I have is a userform that allows the users to change the inputs that are used in preparing the chart. Then I want a second userform to display the new chart.
I searched the posts and saw reference to saving it as a picture but I am not sure how to go about this. Can I save it as a picture within the excel file? Or does it have to be external. If so, how is this done. And can I do it without interupting what the user is doing on the forms.
