View 2 RepliesIf I check the box labeled catagory name on the intial creation or within chart options on the right click menu each data point gets labeled with the name of the catagory.
I would like to label a significant event at one of these data points does anyone know how to do this? If this isn't a built in feature does anyone have a work around that would look good?

I'm looking to replace the words in
VB : myWords = Array("dog", "cat", "hamster")
with a named range.
Here is what I did. I added the lines:
VB:
Dim myArray As Variant
myArray = Range("colorbold")
And replaced mywords with
VB:
myWords = Array("colorbold")
Something is clearly wrong.
I need to read an excel file on share point. The file name is like 'file_name.Vx.x.xls'
Where x.x is an incremental and can change. How can I retrive the correct name?
I would like to replace the blue bit of this Dynamic Named Range (DNR) with an INDIRECT formula in order to modify the starting point for the DNR: =OFFSET(DATA!$C$60,0,0,20,1). Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get my INDIRECT formula to work in order to use it to replace the blue bit above: INDIRECT("'"DATA"'!&ADDRESS(MATCH('SHEET1'!AC8,DATA_Date,0)+22,3)"). The orange bit of the formula above returns a value of 60, therefore the ADDRESS formula should return $C$60, that can then feed into the INDIRECT and act as the equivalent of DATA!$C$60. But it doesn’t.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recorded what I wanted but don't know how to generalise it so regardless of sheet name it can be sorted instead of specifically looking for "leanne final test" worksheet and sorting it by precise cells.
I have starred the section out so you don't have to focus on the rest of the code. Initally I ask for the file to be opened using WeeklyFN, would I need to use it again somehow ?
I have a pivot table as shown below which is pretty straight forward however I am trying to create a macro that will automatically change the point name to match the point name in column E then copy that resulting dispaly to another sheet then pick the next point name in line and do the same thing and repeat for 50 rows, so my end result will be 50 pivot tables ready for printing. I can do this manually but I am trying to make it automatic...BTW the point names in column E change everyday but the pivot table supports the name changes.
Option Explicit
Sub PointName()
Dim Ws As Worksheet
Dim Rng As Range, Cel As Range
Set Ws = ActiveSheet
Set Rng = Range(Cells(2, 7), Cells(Rows.Count, 7).End(xlUp))
For Each Cel In Rng
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "
Ws.Columns("A:B").Copy
Sheets.Add
With ActiveSheet
.Paste
.Name = Trim(Cel)
.Range("A1").Select
End With
Next
Ws.Activate
End Sub
I turned it off for a while and when I turned it back on I am getting an error
Unable to set the _Default property of the PivotItem class
Debugger is highlighting
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "

I copied this file to another computer and my custom toolbar appeared there.
In a file, I created a custom toolbar with submenus. It is possible to save this toolbar with file, so that I can use the file on other computers without the need to create each time this bar.
I have an Excel sheet with a long list of data. A short example is shown below:
Section | Title | Item
1 | INTRODUCTION | a
1.1 | title2 | b
1.2 | title3 | c
1.2.1 | title4 | d
1.2.2 | title5 | e
I made a VBA macro in Excel that runs through this list and creates a new Word file for each item. The filename of the document is based on the data in the Excel file (section and title). Now I would like to add a custom property to each of the newly created Word files, i.e. the value in the 'item' column. Does anyone of you know how I should do this? Or should it be better if I write a macro in Word that runs through the Excel data to create the word files? Here is the code I use to generate the word files:
I'm looking to create a new file from data in my table. I don't want to even imagine having to do this manually again...I'm optimistic there is a solution. All the data needed to create the file is in the table, but i need it stacked and organized in a weird way. It's almost to hard to explain...so I color coded an attachement that basically says it all. It's pretty much the same thing repeated over and over except the last 2 lines. It's just a really messed up organization. In the real version I need the new file in a new workbook. I'm extremely grateful to anyone who can automate this thing

The compatibility woul be determined fom a custom property.
How can I read a custom property from a file wothout opening it?
Has anyone got the add in code? I have my own custom menu bar on my excel. But every time i want to add a new link i must go into the code and manually add the file name extension and relevant VBA code. Is there a method of just entering the file extension in a cell range and excel will automatically update or pick up or link from this location?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried to create a custom menu for a specific file. However, after creating the menu, I posted the file in Sharepoint. When a user download the file from the sharepoint site, the custom menu doesn't work because it is looking for the macro links from my computer. Another problem is that now the custom menu shows up in all other excel files that I open.
My questions are:
1. How do I do it so that the custom menu shows up only when this file is opened up.
2. How do I go about making the menu to look for the macros embeded in the file itself instead of looking for it in my file folder.
I'm trying to take the contents of an excel speadsheet and write it to an html file with my own formatting. For example I would like the row:
|32|55|28|
to end up in the html file as:
<tr>
<td class="align-right">32</td>
<td>55</td>
<td class="">28</td>
</tr>
In theory it seemed fairly simple to loop through a sheet and write before and after each cell, but once I tried writing the code I realized I was in way over my head.
So I am trying to make a file that when opened will act as a template does and change the file name on start-up.
Typically, the template changes the file name by appending one number (e.g. "Book Template REV 1.1.xltm' upon opening would change the file name to 'Book Template REV 1.11.xlsx'). What I want to do, however, is to custom the name change so I could use the file 'Book Template REV 1.1.xltm' while having it change the file name upon opening to 'Custom Name 567.xlsx', without a user being notified of the change (since typically when a template opens the file, the user has no notification that the file name has changed ever so slightly).
We are in the process of switching from running Excel 2007 under Windows XP to running Excel 2010 under Windows 7. Most of my Excel reports are not having any issues. However, I have several macros that cause Excel to crash when they go to save the file. Through trial & error, I have found that the problem seems to occur after deleting custom lists that were created earlier in the macro. Here's the pertinent code:
' Declare Variables
Dim VarListNum1
Dim VarListNum2
Dim VarListNum3
[Code]....
When I execute the macro line-by-line, it is creating & deleting the custom lists as expected. However, if I try to save the file after any of the custom lists have been created, Excel crashes. Has something changed in Excel 2010?
Anyone up for getting me started on code to open a file in a "dynamic" directory, specifically:
Where
Main directory is G:REPORTS
The file name is "Pivot_xx-xx-xx.xls"
The directory where the file is located is G:REPORTSxx-xx-xx
xx-xx-xx is yesterday's date
I am trying to set up a file name and path in a cell, and then use this from a number of other cells but with a cell location added to it. So for example:
cell A1 contains a file name "c:mydirectoryexcelfile.xls"
cell A2 needs to contain the contents of the cell at location K12 (for example) from the file referred to in A1
cell A3 needs to contain the contents of the cell at location K13 (for example) from the file referred to in A1
This is to save having to put the filename and cell reference in all of the of cells. I would then do the same thing with another file in column B of this file and the same with column C etc.
I have a worksheet that has a number in cell K5 - the number is generated on "file open" code and is custom formatted as "TN"0000. Thus 1 appears as TN0001, 2 as TN0002 and so on. I am trying to save a copy of the workbook based on the this cells contents i.e. TN0001.xls, TN0002.xls etc. but the files are saved as 1.xls or 2.xls. The code I am using is
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:DataExcelFORMSDelivery Note" & Range("K5") & ".xls", _
FileFormat:=xlNormal, ReadOnlyRecommended:=True, CreateBackup:=False
I know I must make reference to format within the above....but how? if try something like
" & Format(Range("K5").Value, ("TN""0000")) & ".xls"
I get TN00000.xls
About 2 weeks ago Reafidy posted a reply to the following thread. Save Individual Sheet Based On A1. As I do not want to hi-jack anyone elses thread so I am starting a new one. The code posted does basicly what I need however I was wondering if it is possible to save only "ONE" specific sheet which could be specified in the code, to a specific folder specified in the code and under a name defined by a cells contents. eg.
Save a single sheet named "MatData" from a workbook, name the saved sheet from a "named range on sheet1" & "Cutlist" & ".xls"
to a Folder on the "D" drive called "Saves"
I have a Excel 2010 file that I want to activate the file and create a folder in it named customUI.
the steps to achieve this?
I'm trying to make a converter between about 8 various types of values. These are not units like Km or miles or something like that, but rather numbers that represent a specific "hardness value" on a variety of scales (to name a few: HRC, HRA, K)
What I've been doing so far is plotting the two types against eachother and then getting the best trendline I can so that I can use that formula to convert between the two with relative certainty. (for example, when plotting HV vs HRC my fourth order polynomial trendline with an Rsquared of 1 is y=0.0001x4 - 0.0188x3 + 1.0768x2 - 20.709x + 350.69)
My questions comes up where I was hoping to make a window or box of some sort allowing the user to input a numeric value, then selecting the Input units and the hopeful output calculated units, and have the box spit back to the user the conversion.
I want to be able to create a range of VBA userforms to quickly perform long tedious tasks. I want these userforms to be accessed from a nice tidy toolbar.
I have done this and it looks nice and works well. What I would like to be able to do is have my custom toolbar of userform controlled functions be transferable so that if someone else wants my toolbar and attached functions they can install it easily much the same way you can do with an add in.
Is this sort of thing possible or does it require them to manually install all my userforms, modules and toolbar? If it is possible what sort of things should I be looking at?
I have a master sheet and 102 'advisor named sheets'. The master sheet is updated daily with information (number and text) along 1 row in different columns (A:W). I would like when the advisors name is typed (W) =joebloggs! for this whole row to be auto input on joebloggs sheet. There can be multiple of these entered daily for same person, so the information would need to populate on the next row so not to type over the previous entry.

I would like to combine List1 and List2 into a 3rd named range called List3. I was wondering if this were possible without using any additional cells/columns (i.e. I don't want to use Column C like in the example shown in the link above).
Here's the formula from the example:
Code:
=IFERROR(INDEX(List1,ROWS(C1:$C$1)),IFERROR(INDEX(List2,ROWS(C1:$C$1)-ROWS(List1)),""))
I've played around with it, but could not come with any that worked.
I have read post re this question but have not been able to answer my problem. I get the error message 'Application defined or object defined error' when running the code below. I should indicate the range counter currently indicated about 6,200 rows that this code will work on and the individual range names in the list of 6,200 rows are spread over at least 20 worksheets.
The code appears to be running but after some time it stops on the line of code 'Range(Cells(i, 1).Value) = Cells(i, 2)'.

I want to pay salespeople a bonus when they sell things at a higher Gross Profit. There is a minimum markup. I want to say for every additional point above the floor (F) well pay (B*C). There is also the actual attainment filed (A). For this example lets say the floor (F) is 22% and the actual attainment is 26%.
Illustrations:
.22 = 0(B*C)
.23 = 1(B*C)
.24 = 2(B*C)
A = .26
F= .22
What I want is:
if A >= F THEN for EACH POINT above the floor add 1*(B*C)
Its actually buried in a larger IF(AND function and I need to be able to drag the function down a long column and have it scale with volume sold. But its just this bit of logic I'm hung up on.
