using Excel 2010.I have a column (column X )which i want to hide and lock so that only i can access the column.I have some information here i need to hide and protect. Is a code/password a option
I have an intern that is working with me, and I have a file that I need updated but one of the columns has confidential information so I would like to just hide & password protect this column this way he can't access/view this information but still have access to modify the rest of the spreadsheet.
Iam making some test report tamplet`s, in that when I select the material from drop down (ref enclosed xls file) all spec will be displayed. ·I want the sheet to be protected at the same time few cells to be allowed for data entry (cells marked with blue)· If sheet can`t be protected I want to hide the formulas and spec details used in it.
How would I go about lock a cell after there is an entry. Once the entry has been made the user could not change the entry. For example if a user enter in cell b2 he could not change the entry, he could change a2, c2, d2. He would also be able to put an other entry in b3, once enter the cell is lock.
I am in the exploratory stages of determining whether I can create a report in Excel 2007 to add the instances of a particular entry in a column. It is tricky, because I want to survey only the first 4 entry rows of a group of 8 entries and then return the result as only one instance of the entry over each of a set number of these sets of data rows, in each case 4 sets. This process would repeat down the spreadsheet, and the number of occurrences of each particular entry summed and reported in a separate tab of the same spreadsheet.
The rows in this spreadsheet are 17-1240. The entry names are a combination of two columns, J and K. These must match identically for the counter to count an additional entry.
I would prefer to make the report in a different tab in the same spreadsheet...just available for reference.
Any way to construct a formula in excel that will look at a reference in one column and find the latest date from the data in an adjacent column for that specific reference?
Below is an exctract from a much larger sheet of the columns in question.
The result in the last column should be 21/05/2014 for anything with D.O.001 in the second column and 15/05/2014 for anything with D.O.002.
Date Decision agreed Disposal Order Latest Decision date for D.O.
I have a spreadsheet of several thousand named items (in column B) with values associated with them in column A). The "name" field is a string of several alternative names for the item.
I have a list of ~50 items that I am trying to find the values for. Each uses one of the alternate names.
What I want is a function that will return the associated value in column A when one of my shortlist names is found.
Is there any possibility to protect alternate cells of column see below for example. I want to lock cells B1, B6, B11 and B16 only so that no one is able to delete the average rate.
A B average rate0.0 1 1 1 1 average rate0.0 1 1 1 1 average rate0.0 1 1 1 1 average rate0.0 1 1 1 1
Using Excel 2007. When I put password protection on the template, the template child doc also gets the same password protection. I want to prevent tampering on the template, but I want the child doc to be fully editable for the end user. After all, isn't that the purpose of a template? I just don't want anyone to be able to edit the template itself, which also seems like the purpose of a template. Am I missing something about not seeing how to configure this obvious functionality?
I know how to protect a worksheet with a password so that no one can amend the contents or view the formulas in the cells. And then we can un-protect the worksheet by clicking on the "review" tab in excel 2007 and so on. But recently I came across an excel sheet which was password protected and my query is that the "Review" tab was greyed out. What kind of protection was this that clicking on "review" tab option is also unavailable. And how does these kind of sheets get unlocked then.
I have a workbook which i really want to protect. I don't want any formulas to be seen and tampered with.
Simply hiding/locking cells and protecting the sheet is not secure enough. within minutes of googling crack password, i was able to find a macro that unlocks the sheet.
Is there something out there that can really secure your workbook. I found something called XLS Padlock [URL].... seems great.
How to protect only the colored cells in excel sheet which has formulas in it and it is a sale sheet because i do not want my team to mixup with the formula.
I'm using Excel 2007. I know how to protect specific cells within a worksheet, but I have not been able to find any information online pertaining to locking or protecting inserted header/footer data, even if I protect the worksheet.
I'm not concerned about setting specific VBA commands to ensure the header/footer prints, but rather preventing other users from being able to edit the data upon distribution of the worksheet.
Is it possible to protect an inserted text box from being moved, stretched, etc. while allowing data input into the cell/s? I'm using a 2003 version of excel.
I've attached the sheet in question. The yellow text boxes are what I want to lock, yet still allow data input.
I have an excel file with three worksheets in it. I can happily protect each sheet with a different password but what i want to be able to do is the following:
a. have a global administrator password for all the sheets - so i assume set the same password to protect the whole sheet b. have individual passwords that only allow the user to insert rows and change data within restricted columns, i.e. can only edit columns A:Z and cannot manipulate any formulas within that range A:Z
I have a sheet witch has a number of tick boxes and depending on the response a number of hidden rows may open to allow further info to be recorded, how do I protect the sheet in excel 2003 as unlocking certain cells & protecting the sheet will not work.
I have a lot of formulas that I don't want to be changed or deleted, but I still want the user to be able to enter data into the cells.
If I use "Protect sheet" I can't select a cell or enter something into it. I sure there is some setting I have to change, but I'm not sure what to select.
I experience it takes a lot of time to protect/unprotect sheets in Excel 2013. However, only if the operation is made WITH PASSWORD. This was not the case in Excel 2007. Operation was fast independent with/witout password.
In attached file I have made an example where the time to protect/unprotect 25 sheets is investigated. Can make the test in Excel2013 to double check it is not my computer causing the time delay.
Result test - 25 sheets: Protect - No password: 0,02 s Unprotect - No password: 0,06 s Protect - With password: 6,9 s Unprotect - With password: 6,9 s
Is it possible to protect an excel file such that it will open up only on designated computers (identified by the computer name or some unique hardware identification like MAC address etc)?I was wondering if the VB editor can be used to do the same.
Let me put my requirement in detail:
I have an excel file "123" created in one computer (named=A). On this computer this file can be opened by anyone.I write a code such a way that, this particular file when copied on to other computers say (B,C & D) would open up as usual. But on computer E or any other computer, it should not open.
I cannot use password protect feature on the file as "n" number of users will be accessing this file on those designated computers. I was finding few of the clients copying the files on their personal drives or email without proper consent. If its possible, I would like to employ the same on few of my word (.doc) files as well.
I have a file used by our employees through our local area network. Because that file has many functions and possibilities that took us a lot of time to create, I would like to protect this file so no employee can copy it to an external device without a password. It would be great, though, if the file could be exchanged or sent among employees as logn as it remains WITHIN our internal network.
Is it technically possible to protect an Excel file in a such a way?
Excel 2010, Windows 7: Is it possible to password protect an Excel document at an "Administrator" or a executive level. I want to grant access to the document, and the ability to manipulate it as they choose, to everyone with the password but prohibit them from changing the password once they are in.
I am using Excel 2007 and I have a worksheet with multiple columns, some of these columns are protected and some are not.
I then lock the worksheet with a password so the user can't edit certain cells that are protected but can modify the unprotected cells, the problem is the user cannot use the filter or sort the workbook.
Is there a way to allow filtering or sorting but still lock down the worksheet.
Is there a way to protect the conditional formatting of accessible cells in a protected sheet.
Detail: I have a protected excel sheet. However some of the cells are made accessible so others (my secretary) can fill them up. The accessible cells have conditional formatting which become nonfunctional during pasting from other sources if "special paste" is not used.
I have an annual leave (vacation) work book with a summary page work sheet and separate work sheets for each month i.e. Jan, Feb, Mar.....to......Dec. In order to protect the formulas I have protected them by allowing only access to the input cells on each work sheet and the protect each work sheet.
When someone either joins or leaves the team I have to manually unprotect each sheet and protect again when I have completed the amendments to each of the 13 tabs.
macro code I would need to unprotect all the works sheets in one go (as I use the same password for all the sheets) and reset the passwords (protect) the sheets with more macro code.
I will be running the two macros from my own personal.xls file and ideally they would be fully automatic i.e. I would not need to input the passwords in to unlock or lock the work sheets as the password would be written in the code already
