How To Protect Formulas When Others Are Entering Data
Feb 27, 2014I have a spreadsheet with multiple formulas in several columns - my staff will be using this spreadsheet to enter data throughout the year so it will be constantly touched by several users. Some of the columns are hidden, but I worry about someone sorting something funky or deleting or adding a row. Any way to protect the columns I have formulas in while still allowing them to enter data in the rest of the spreadsheet?

I also have VB Code in teh sheet as follows to hide rows. If I protect colum A and protect sheet I get an error. How can I protect the sheet and still have the following commnad work?

Excel 2007 :: Protect Formulas For Being Changed / Deleted?
Sep 6, 2013I have a lot of formulas that I don't want to be changed or deleted, but I still want the user to be able to enter data into the cells.
If I use "Protect sheet" I can't select a cell or enter something into it. I sure there is some setting I have to change, but I'm not sure what to select.

Protect VBE Project Using Code
Mar 31, 2009Is there a way to protect a VBE project using a macro instead of going to the properties and manually typing in a password? I'm using a macro that emails just one worksheet in my workbook (creates a new temp file, emails, and deletes it) but when the new file gets to the recipient the VBE project is unlocked.
I found a way to protect the worksheet before saving the temp file, so the worksheet is protected as it should be, but the project explorer window is completely open. Then anybody can see the passwords I'm using to protect the sheet in the first place. So I need to somehow re-protect the project before it saves and emails.

The saving part of the macro is working perfectly, however I cannot get the protection to work. It must have a password - I do not want the receipient to be able to go 'Tools' > 'Unprotect Sheet'.

May 24, 2008I am trying to design a tool which dynamically results in different cells depending on users inputs. Yet, I am willing to protect most of the cells to avoid any user involuntarily (or voluntarily!) modifying the formulas/contents of the calculated (and locked) cells. Is there any way to protect my sheets, allowing only a certain macro to modify the locked and protected cells?

the problem is i have a few cells where i would like to retain the formulas. i tried to do this with custom in validation but this did not work. i also tried to enter the code directly into the worksheet but this didnt work either (my skills are limited..). i am avoiding using protect sheet bc that in turn will affect many of my other buttons. is there something i am overlooking?

Nov 7, 2008I've used VBA to make a picture appear when all the correct answers have been entered and it all works well. However, not to be too mean to 15 year olds, many of my students can be devious little feckers, and I want to hide and password protect the VBA code so that they can't just change the pictures visible section to true. I can password protect the workbook and worksheet, but not the VBA.
I'm entering the Visual Basic editor and I can see my simple script. I then click Tools - VBproject properties - protection. I'm clicking the "Lock Project for Viewing" box then filling in the password and confirming the password and clicking OK. But I can still see and edit my script, despite protecting the sheet and workbook.

The user starts by entering a number in the text box tbRowAdd. When the user clicks on the button called btAdd it first checks to make sure the number entered is equal to or between 1 and 1500. If this is not the case it should display a message box saying "You must enter a valid number from 1 to 1500 in the tex box."
If the number is valid it should then add that amount of rows below the current active cell in the worksheet ReturnData.
It should then continue the formulas in the A, B, C and F columns. The formulas are as follows:

Code To Add New Row And Copy Formulas Only (not Values)
Jan 28, 2014Im looking for code to add new rows and copy the formulas only (not values) into the cells A, B, C, D and F. I have found code that does this in various places online but in every case I have found they duplicate the row then remove the values (so the formulas are left behind). The issue I have however is that it triggers some change event code I have on the sheet which interrupts the process.
Is it not possible to simply insert a new blank row, then copy down the formulas only without values?

I have the following code to select rows that meet 2 different criteria and copy them to a new sheet.
The problem is I only want to copy the values not all the formulas - the formulas don't work in the new location as they are referencing cells that are no longer there.

Also is there any way where i can let the user copy the VALUE from the result (C1) into another Sheet in case if am using + Sign to obtain the result in C1 instead of writing a VBA Code.
Basically i am looking for the user to in put data in A and B and the result should come in C like wise i want the user to input the values in few rows and the user should get the result in the respetive rows under column C. Code Which Converts Cells With Formulas To A New Formula
Jul 2, 2009Someone here wrote up this code for me which converts cells with formulas to a new formula (It adds a division to the formula in the cell). It works great with one problem. If the code is rerun multiple times it doesn't check if there is a division added already and just keeps adding and adding to existing formula. For the last our I tried to add a check to the code. Something along the lines "If cell already has "/H2" inserted" skip to next cell. But nothing is working.

After the VBA is done running, I change the values in the cells that are referenced by the cells I wrote formulas in. The formulas do not update after I enter this new information. My calculation is set to automatic, and F9 doesn't help.
