Pulling Data From Cells Into A Matrix?

In VBA I'm trying to grab numbers from a cell range (ie: A1:A10), and save them to a matrix or variable. I will later need to grab additional numbers and add it to that matrix. I have experimented several different ways, but belows demonstrates what I'm trying to do:

my_data = Range("A1:A10").Value
my_data = my_data&Range("B1:B10").Value

Formula For Pulling Data From A Matrix

Im currently working to speed up my monthly reporting process. Each month I pull data from the ledger by account & office. Below is an example of what the format of the ledger looks like.

My next step is to report the amounts by account number for each office. At the moment I do this manually, which takes a very long time. My goal is to be able to paste the ledger data on a worksheet and have my report populate automatically.

In regards to the account numbers from the ledger, we summarize the accounts using the first 3 digits of the account. For example, account number "1113454" would be considered a "111" account. Account number 3335454 would be considered a "333" account.

Pulling Data Associated With Countif Cells

I am tracking 3 different payment types, and the employee, customer and dollar amount for the transactions that can not be verified. All of this data is then transferred over the the "Summary" sheet. I found the Countif formula that will tell me how many times an employee names appears on the sheet, but I was wondering if it were possible to also calculate the dollar amount associated with those transactions.

I have attached the spreadsheet to better explain what I am talking about, but below is a very small example. I do not want to calculate the info on this page, but rather add another 2 cells next to where the number of unclaimed and the % of unclaimed are calculated on the "Summary" sheet. How To Prevent Data From Moving Cells Within The Input Matrix

I have a worksheet that I will be allowing other to access so that I can get them to input certain data. I will be protecting the sheet to avoid having them inadvertantly overwrite any of my formulae. So, I have a matrix on the left for them to input data into with calculations to the right that they cannot change. Can I prevent them from moving cells within the input matrix

I have this info on my excel spreadsheet plus 500 more lines. What I am looking for is if a name repeats then the info in column 2, 3, 5 and 6 for that name needs to be brought to new row. Example would be if I used the name karen on the next row then I would like her info from the desired cells to auto populate so I don't have to keep entering them and so on with new and old names. I have been trying to get this done for months know and have had no luck. My sheet already has over 500 lines of names and it would be nice if I could use the data from the past as well as the future to populate these cells.

I have one sheet that is used to check off when certain questions are answered for an inspection of departments in a building. As the first image shows, Row 1 contains the questions; Column A contains the departments. I simplified this for the image, but the rows represent individual audits, over time, so a department will appear again and again on subsequent rows, as new audits are conducted. When it's time to do a new audit, the user starts a new row and selects the department in Column A from a drop down list (via data validation).

What I need to happen is when the user selects a department, certain cells under each question are filled with black, indicating that the question does not apply to that department.

Copy Cells & Paste Into Matrix

I have a spreadsheet with issue impact analyses tracked. I would have the Probability and Impact in two different columns with values ranging from 1 to 5. Each item has a reference number in Col A.

I have this matrix denoted in the file attached with Probability on the X axis and Impact on the Y axis as denoted in the image attached. you may note I have total of 9 cells in each block that represents different values of Impact for every value of Probability. Now I need to copy the reference numbers in the matrix presented at the bottom of the image in such a way that all the reference numbers with Probability 1 and varying Impact score will be sequnetially pasted in the cells of the squares with Probability 1 and Impact 1 to 5 (bottom most square blocks in the graph.

I have a VBA code that pulls a value from a single cell on a separate tab. Instead of just pulling the value (ex. 3.44589348) is there a way to have it pull the value as a link to the other tab? It still would display the number but if you click on the cell it would display =Sheet2!A1 (for example).

Pulling Information From Different Cells

My goal is to create a pair of validation lists. The first will allow you to select what craft you are using (i.e. Alchemy). That will bring up the second list which will allow you select what recipe you are using (i.e. Black Ink). From here, I want the spreadsheet to automatically fill out what ingredients are in the recipe, the skill levels needed to complete the recipe at 100% success, and what the yield is each time successfully complete the craft.

The first part is easy, using the INDIRECT function to pull up a second list from the first. I have no idea how to make the other cells fill out, or even how to structure the data to make it accessible.

Making Report And Show Data From Matrix With Header And Data?

I added an attachment with an example. You will see a matrix, with in the most left column an ID, then the headers of the matrix has different numbers that mean something.

What I want to do is, you fill in a number in the combobox, then press on a button and a report will be made on a new worksheet. With a list of the numbers and dates in the matrix that the ID has. Like shown in the example sheet in the workbook.

Removing Blank Cells In A Large Matrix

This is my first post on this forum and I am an Excel novice. I have a worksheet with lots of blank cells and I need to shift all the cells with data all the way to the left (to column A). I cannot get the sort or filter functions to do this for me, and I've never used macros but it appears they might be useful for my problem. I'd like to find an automatic process to move the data left rather than drag and drop hundreds of times. I'm attaching the complete xls file for your viewing.

Color Cells Within Matrix Based On Conditions Outside

In 'MAIN REPORT' there are thousands of columns of data, of which the important columns are 'Factory No.' and 'Row No' and 'Quantity'.

Each factory has its own worksheet as well.

In each of those factory sheets there is a 15x65 grid for each of the 65 rows that are mentioned in MAIN REPORT.

I have created and IF statement that checks if there is any data in 'Quantity row' and if there is it enters a "1" in the that cell of the virtual Factory grid.

This is the formula:
=IF('MAIN REPORT'!I2="","",1)
However, this simply checks that data while there is only 1 quantity for each row of each house.

Sometimes there will be different quantities (for diff. products), and I need a formula/macro that checks the line no. column and then,

If there are 5 items in row 7 for example then it will place five "1"'s in the first five cells of row seven in the corresponding factory sheet.

Select Certain Cells In Matrix To Assign A 0-1 Or 1-0 Dyad 10,000 Times

I am a research student trying to calculate the linearity of a certain number of individuals (the subjects of my study).

In my matrix of individuals I have the row individuals dominant to column individuals given values of 1, and where individuals in the column are dominant to those in the row, a value of 0 is given. Where the relationships are "tied" a value of 0.5 is entered. I have more than 30 unknown relationships, which I have filled with "x".

What I have to do, is select these x-cells (Haha, Excels :P) and randomly insert a 1-0 or 0-1 dyad between the corresponding individuals. So if (in the data file) Garth and Nala are to have a 1-0 or 0-1 inserted to their corresponding cells, but they must be opposite; like if row-Garth gets a 1 on column-Nala, then column-Garth gets a 0 on row-Nala.

I have highlighted (in the second matrix) all of the non-x cells. I have to make 10,000 matrices (or at least replicate the application of these random 1-0/0-1 dyads 10,000 times).

I'm running a small messenger company and I've got a geographic area divided into five zones: 1,2,3E,3W,& 4

Deliveries within 1 zone will be charged for one zone.
Deliveries from Zone 1 to Zone 2 will be charged for 2 zones. Etc.

I've got a list of zones in my From column and also in my To column.

I need to write a formula that will give my customers the Zones Charged in a seperate cell.

I learned how to do something like this back in school, but don't even know what to call it anymore. Maybe it's some kind of comples IF function.

On my example sheet it shows how many cables and how the cable length per job. What i need is for the hour/job column to be populated from the Hours sheet by matching the column and row. e.g 4 cables at 40 metres would give me cell D7 (27.89), as 25 metres would be no good - so rounding up would be required.

Pulling Data From A Tab

i want it to change the Header in E1 to the name of that price level and have the prices change according to that price level. The price level prices are currently being pulled from another tab through vlookups which lookups up the part numbers. My method only works with 1 price level right now and have no clue how to approach it with more then one price level. Also these part numbers will change positions and locations and are not permanent hence why i thought to use a vlookup.

Is there a way macro wise ( preferably through a formula ) that i can have Column E prices change according to the Price Level Entered.

wish to write an VB macro in Excel (2003) that populates a 6 row by 10 column matrix (for a 3 D graph) by inserting values from matrix row column headers in cells in another worksheet and using goal seek to derive a value which will be pasted in the respective cell in the 6X10 matrix

Specific example: Matrix (Row Headers A2 to A7, Column Headers B1 to K1, Cell values are in B2 to K7). Please note row and column headers are numerical values since this is for a 3D graph

Macro to be written

Pick a value (numerical) from row header A3 in Sheet A and paste it in cell B6 in another sheet (Sheet B). Pick anothet value (numerical) from column header D1 in Sheet A and paste it in cell B7 in Sheet B.

Run a goal seek scenario such that cell S10 in sheet B is equal to 50 by changing cell G8 in Sheet B

Copy the value chosen/optimised by Goal Seek from cell G8 in Sheet B and paste it in Cell D3 (which is the relevant cell for the values for intersection of headers A3 and D1) in Sheet A

Macro should populate all cells in the matrix in Sheet A (matrix cells to be populated are B2 to K7) in a similar fashion

The macro should be locked in to the cells which are either being copied from or pasted into so that it still references them even if new columns or rows are inserted.

The number of entries of course is a lot bigger, that's why I'm trying to make it auto.

So what I need is to have a table created that would mix both data type in 2 columns, like this:

Matrix - Need Data Sorted Into Lists

I have a matrix of mixed numbers (going across many columns and rows) in Sheet1. They are a mix of positive and negative numbers, In Sheet2 I need 2 lists to be automatically displayed, taken from the data in Sheet1.

The first list (column) is for positive numbers only, the second is for negative numbers.

There is one filter: only numbers over a specified value (for the positive list) must be used from the data, and only numbers under a specified value (for the negative list) must be used from the data. The 2 filters can be stored in any cells in Sheet2 (the worksheet where the lists will be), lets say, for ease of use, A1 and B1.

But here's the tricky part: I need the location reference of each number in the matrix displayed next to the number in the list!!! Eg: in the matrix, I have names running down the left (A2 to A25) and the same names in the same order running across the top (B1 to Y1) - just like any basic matrix! If A6 is called "John" and L1 is called "Pete" and their value (at cell L6) is 10, then I need them to be displayed in the "positive list" amongst the others (sorted automatically into numerical order) with the words "John" in the cell to the right of the score, and "Pete" in the one after that to the right: so it will look like:

A2 B2 C2
10 John Pete

(remember that these 2 lists are on Sheet2, not on the matrix worsheet! A1 and B1 contain the 2 filters for the positive and negative lists).

Of course, this must only happen if the filter in A1 (the positive filter) is 10 or under. If it was anything above 10, then this one would not make the list.

As for duplicates in the matrix coming up twice in the lists, that's not a problem this wont matter! It's ok for the lists to have constant duplicates displayed eg: 10 John Pete will also have next to it 10 Pete John.

Distance Matrix For Multivariate Data

I have a multivariate dataset with a large number of cases. eg. 50.000 cases (data points) and 40 variables. I need to calculate the distances between each pair of data points in this 40-dimensional space. Obviously i cannot produce a whole data matrix, which would have to be 50.000 x 50.000 big. but i need at least the average distance - if N is the number of cases there are (N*N-N)/2 possible pairs of points. Idealy, the (N*N-N)/2 distances could be placed in a column so i could make a histogram of the values. Still this doesn't seem like a very good solution as the (N*N-N)/2 distances if N=50.000 would fill about 75 worksheets!

Here is a simplified exaple of what i want to do, but with N=4 and only 3 variables:

Compare Blocks Matrix Of Data

I have the follwing data in A1:T17


I want to compare the first set of 20 numbers (A1:T1) with the second set (A2:T2) and check how many numbers match. ** If the matched numbers
are >=10 ** then list them to the right of cell W1. In this example, 10 numbers matched are 4,9,10,21,35,47,64,72,74,75. List them in W1:AF1.

Now compare (A1:T1) with (A3:T3). In this example, 11 numbers matched 4,9,10,21,33,41,47,57,6,72,74 list them in W2:AG2.

Now compare (A1:T1) with (A4:T4). 10 numbers matched 3,4,10,11,21,32,33,35,60,69 list them in W3:AF3.

Compare (A1:T1) with (A5:T5). Here only 5 numbers matched 9,21,64,69,75 (Which is ** less than 10 ** - does not match the criteria) DO NOT LIST

Compare (A1:T1) with (A6:T6). 11 numbers matched, 3,4,7,10,21,33,37,47,57,69,75 list them in cell W4:AG4.

Pulling Data From Dates?

In the little chart on the left, I have the customer name, when their story is due, and when it was completed. On the right, I want to show how many words per hour my journalist is averaging for each week. What I'd like to do in cells J2 through J5 is to have a formula that pulls out the total number of words written for all projects that occurred during that time frame. I can't seem to figure out the formula, though. I was thinking that I needed an array formula starting with ifferror and calling from the row functions, but I can't seem to get it to work out right.
