Is there a way to open a URL from a cell reference? For example, in cell B3 I would like to have the web site URL, Google, and have VBA reference the cell rather than a hard coded ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink "[URL]".
Where it is bolded I am trying to replace that with a cell reference such as A1 where I can input a website in that cell rather than edit the VBA code everytime
Here is the code:
Sub URL_Get_Query() With ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add(Connection:= _ "URL;http://quote.money.cnn.com/quote/quote?symbols=msft", _
I have been using some code which will open a blank email from a textbox with the appropriate email address in it with a single mouse click. Now I am trying to open a website in the same manner. See code the textbox code below:
Private Sub txtWeb_Enter() Dim wLink As String wLink = txtWeb.Value On Error Goto err_Handler ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink Address:=wLink, NewWindow:=True Unload Me Exit Sub err_Handler: MsgBox "Cannot connect to " & wLink End Sub
This code successfully opens Internet explorer, and opens the appropriate url. But I want Mozilla to be the web browser.
I have an Excel sheet with about 1,000 rows. Each row has an origin and destination column. Now I need a code that opens a specific website and goes to a specific tab and then search for the origin and destination fields queries. The code then takes each row and place them in the search query. The result from each row can result a valid connection between an origin and a destination OR no connection exists. So simply if connection is successful, the code simply returns "yes" otherwise "no".
I can open the website from Excel, but what I need to click on specific tab where I do my searches. One of the problems I am facing is that when I try to click on the tab I need I get the message that I must use Internet Explorer or Chrome or Mozilla. Although Excel uses Internet Explorer to open the website. I am not sure why this error.
Attached you will find the following:
1 - Few data rows that we need to run the loop on.
2 - A snapshot of the website that we need to input the data from the rows (FOLLOW LINK)
3 A snapshot to show you the tab ("Ocean Schedule") that we need to access after we open the main website in vba. (FOLLOW LINK)
I am using the below code to login to a website from Excel when I close a userform.
What I now need is a way to check if the website is already open to prevent the code from running and I also would like to navigate to another page on the website once its logged in. The web address of the other page is:
[URL]
Sub LogInToRoyalMail() Const cURL = "http://www.XXXXX.co.uk/" 'Enter the web address here Const cUsername = "XXXXXX" 'Enter your user name here Const cPassword = "XXXXXX" 'Enter your Password here
Trying to find a set of code that I can use to open a website that's predetermined, and enter in the users name and password automatically. And if possible, open a new email via the website, addressed to a person, and ready to browse for the file to attach.
The code I have is below.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() ' storenumber = [$c$3]
If [$iv$2] = True Then
If [$iv$3] 0 Then
MsgBox ("Can't send with No Adjustments Checked & Items to Adjust, Please clear one") End End If End If..................
I would like to know the proper syntax for recalling the value of a cell in another workbook. For example, I want a variable in my code to equal cell(1,1) in sheet1 of workbook1.xls.
I am trying to open a stored file on a network drive (with the file location stored in cell E4). When I try to run the macro, I get an error message on Line 3. (Sheets(E4.Value).Activate)
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this, or have a better method to open the closed files?
I've read that it's possible to reference information from a closed sheet, but I don't think that I'm experienced enough in VBA to take on that effort yet.
Using the developer tab I inserted an Active X combo box. Under properties I referenced a 'linked cell' that I want the data to appear in. This box works great as long as I keep the sheet open. Once I save and close the workbook and re-open, that reference is lost. It shows #REF! in that field. Why does it lose the reference? I have tried to reference a cell on the same sheet as well as a cell in a different sheet and it keeps the sheet name but not the individual cell.
I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez() Dim IE As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com IE.Visible = True While IE.Busy DoEvents Wend
'IE.Navigate2 "javascript:SRT_keystuts.exportcsv()" 'this is the name of the download link as from when i hover my pointer over download link. End Sub
Code: Sub CopyAdressToCell()Dim n As String Set n = ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert("http://www.google.com.br/images/srpr/logo4w.png") With Range("B2") t = .Top l = .Left End With With n .Top = t .Left = l End With Range("A2").Value = n '
The first spreadsheet will contain a form that needs to be filled out by a user for a specific car. In the second spreadsheet, I want to have a list of the cars that have already been filled out in a form before.
So example, someone with a car got into an accident and the report is filed under vin:1234 and vin:1234 is added to the list in the second spreadsheet.
A couple days later another accident report is written up, but when the user enters vin:1234 in the form, it will notify the user that vin:1234 has a report already written up on it. The notification also asks if they want to open the file containing vin:1234. When they click 'yes', it will open the file and allow them to either use the current report for their own, or modify what was already entered.
Is this possible to do within excel? I would constantly update spreadsheet 2 with the vins that have been used to keep it as a database.
I'd prefer to edit links with the source workbook open, however I receive this error when I do "A formula in this worksheet contains one or more invalid references." I am able to edit links with the source workbook closed but this takes far too much time to be satisfied with that as the solution. I have used vlookup formulas and the index-match method and they both take about the same amount of time to update. I've separated each worksheet and used the "name manager" add-in and have searched all links for any type of error. I feel like I'm missing something. Is there a way to fix this "invalid reference" error so that I can edit my links with the source workbook open?
How do I change a formula cell reference based on another cell's reference? I'm building a schedule that looks to a task's trigger and adds days based on that relationship. All entries in column "A" will be text and all cells in "B" will be the simple formula "=A2" or "=A3". Due date is calculated by adding the value in "C" to the preceding date in column "D". In the spreadsheet below, the trigger for "Budget set" is "Specs written" with 3 days added to the previous due date.
________A________________B_____________C_________D 1 Task___________Trigger_____________Days_____Due Date 2 Design begins__Proj OK______________10____10-Jan 3 Specs written__Design begins (A2)____5____15-Jan (D2+C3) 4 Budget set_____Specs written (A3)____3____18-Jan (D3+C4)
If the trigger for A4, "Budget set", changed from A3 to A2, is there a way that the formula that determines the due date in D4 could read the trigger cell reference in B4 so that the value in the corresponding row in column "C" is added in the date column?
I have lets say 12 months of data. I have formulas that reference the latest 6 months. When I insert a new column to input a new month, how can I make the formulas include the new months without manually updating them.
EXAMPLE:
12 months of data exist in cells B3:M3 going from B3(oldest) to M3(newest). Formulas reference latest 6 months of data in cells H3:M3. When a new month hits, I insert a column after column M.I would like the formulas to now reference cells I3:N3 which is now the newest 6 months.
I have a workbook with 1000+ worksheets, all of which have 3-letter names. On a master sheet, I would like to make a query of how many non-empty cells there are on a subsidiary worksheet. This works:
Code: =COUNTA(ABC!A:A) What I'd like to do from time to time is input in column A a varying set of 3-letter worksheet names, say
AAB ABC CDE
And have a formula in column B that converts this to
Let's say I've ended up with the number 8 in Cell D4 for example. Is there a formula that can return the letter "G" (The 8th Column) so I can use it in future cell references ? If so, let's say we store that in Cell B5. How do I now refer to a cell in a chosen Row of that same Column by reference to Cell B5 ? For example if I want to refer to Cell G33 can you refer to this Cell in some form like Cell(Contents of Cell B5;33) ??? Don't want to use R1C1 type references if possible.
i am trying to do a sum of my columns but it's not calculating at all.I keep getting "circular reference in an open workbook" error. This is the only workbook opened.
I have the following formula in cell L51 of all sheets calculating the volume depending on the monthly index that is chosen from the drop down menu in a particular sheet. =If(MIndex=0, SUM(D33:L50),If(MIndex=1,SUM(D34:L50),If(MIndex=2,SUM(D35:L50), 0))). I am getting the following message and I do not understand what it is about.
Microsoft Office Excel cannot calculate a formula. Cell references in the formula refer to the formula's result, creating a circular reference. Try one of the following
I have a spread I use daily where I need to go to a series of links on a site and extract data- all that is programmed. But it's a site that requires I first be logged into my account.
Code: Sub AcctLogin()
Dim a As String Set ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") With ie .Visible = True
[Code] ....
The above code works, but it opens up an IE window. I'd just like it to log in in the background so I don't have to deal with a new window..
