How To Check If Website Is Open And Also Navigate To Another Page
Oct 12, 2011
I am using the below code to login to a website from Excel when I close a userform.
What I now need is a way to check if the website is already open to prevent the code from running and I also would like to navigate to another page on the website once its logged in. The web address of the other page is:
[URL]
Sub LogInToRoyalMail()
Const cURL = "http://www.XXXXX.co.uk/" 'Enter the web address here
Const cUsername = "XXXXXX" 'Enter your user name here
Const cPassword = "XXXXXX" 'Enter your Password here
I'm doing some extremely repetitive work with a web tool at work. I need to import about 1800 tables for my first assignment and 5000 for my second. I did a search on the forum and found out that Excel and vba is able to import tables from a website's chart which is amazing. I recorded a macro and got
Sheets("Sheet2").Select Range("A1").Select With ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add(Connection:= _ "URL I can;t give out this information" _ , Destination:=Range("A1")) .Name = "index" .FieldNames = True .RowNumbers = False .FillAdjacentFormulas = False .PreserveFormatting = True .RefreshOnFileOpen = False .BackgroundQuery = True .RefreshStyle = xlInsertDeleteCells .SavePassword = False.....................
For each session I have to go to my site, log in with a username and password which is the same everytime then go to a specific page select the right drop down and import chart. The Chart under the drop down is the chart I need to import. The macro I recorded has no problem doing this but however it keeps grabbing the same chart, how do i fix that, so it knows to select the right drop down then import the right chart?
Is there a way to open a URL from a cell reference? For example, in cell B3 I would like to have the web site URL, Google, and have VBA reference the cell rather than a hard coded ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink "[URL]".
I have been using some code which will open a blank email from a textbox with the appropriate email address in it with a single mouse click. Now I am trying to open a website in the same manner. See code the textbox code below:
Private Sub txtWeb_Enter() Dim wLink As String wLink = txtWeb.Value On Error Goto err_Handler ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink Address:=wLink, NewWindow:=True Unload Me Exit Sub err_Handler: MsgBox "Cannot connect to " & wLink End Sub
This code successfully opens Internet explorer, and opens the appropriate url. But I want Mozilla to be the web browser.
I have an Excel sheet with about 1,000 rows. Each row has an origin and destination column. Now I need a code that opens a specific website and goes to a specific tab and then search for the origin and destination fields queries. The code then takes each row and place them in the search query. The result from each row can result a valid connection between an origin and a destination OR no connection exists. So simply if connection is successful, the code simply returns "yes" otherwise "no".
I can open the website from Excel, but what I need to click on specific tab where I do my searches. One of the problems I am facing is that when I try to click on the tab I need I get the message that I must use Internet Explorer or Chrome or Mozilla. Although Excel uses Internet Explorer to open the website. I am not sure why this error.
Attached you will find the following:
1 - Few data rows that we need to run the loop on.
2 - A snapshot of the website that we need to input the data from the rows (FOLLOW LINK)
3 A snapshot to show you the tab ("Ocean Schedule") that we need to access after we open the main website in vba. (FOLLOW LINK)
Trying to find a set of code that I can use to open a website that's predetermined, and enter in the users name and password automatically. And if possible, open a new email via the website, addressed to a person, and ready to browse for the file to attach.
The code I have is below.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() ' storenumber = [$c$3]
If [$iv$2] = True Then
If [$iv$3] 0 Then
MsgBox ("Can't send with No Adjustments Checked & Items to Adjust, Please clear one") End End If End If..................
I have two workbooks. One is a no-nonsense form interface that my bosses will use to enter safety information. I'll call this workbook "Form". This file is stored locally on each of their computers. The other workbook is stored on a common drive. I'll call it "Master".
When my bosses fill out the Form and click "Submit", the Master file is opened, and certain cells are populated based on information entered in the Form. This is the code I am using to make this happen:
I did a macro on my mac to transfer a sheet from one workbook to another worbook. It works very well when the destination workbook is open. Therefore I wanted to add some piece of code to check if the destination workbook is open. If not then I wanted the macro to open it before tranfering the sheet. Here is the code I´m using for tranfering the sheet
Sub Transfer_Sluttet() If ActiveSheet.Index <> Sheets.Count Then Application.DisplayAlerts = False Set ws = ActiveSheet Sheets(ws.Index + 1).Delete ws.Move Before:=Workbooks("Sluttet.xls").Sheets("sheet2") 'Moves active sheet to beginning of named workbook. 'Replace Test.xls with the full name of the target workbook you want. Application.DisplayAlerts = True End If End Sub
This is the type of macro I useually use on my pc to check if a workbook is open and if not then open it
If IsWorkbookOpened("Filename.xls", "C:Documents and ..................
I would like to write a Sub that will see if a workbook is open and if it is not then open it. I know how to have a macro automatically open a workbook, but I run into problems when the macro runs and tries to open an already opened workbook.
I have a list of urls and I need to check them regularly, if they are updated or not. All the pages are from the same website and in same format. The information I need to check if updated or not is inside a table.
I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez() Dim IE As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com IE.Visible = True While IE.Busy DoEvents Wend
'IE.Navigate2 "javascript:SRT_keystuts.exportcsv()" 'this is the name of the download link as from when i hover my pointer over download link. End Sub
I have an array set up with values I want to look in a Pivot Field for and then pull data back based on that selection. It works great until there is an item in my array that is not listed in the Pivot Field. Then it pulls the data from the last item again, which skews my results. So my questions is, how can I skip to the next item in an array if it is not listed in the Pivot Field? Here is the section of code
Due to the protection function, users cannot sort by descending (using filter), and this is causing some problems. So I was wondering if it were possible for the sheet to be sorted automatically whenever the spreadsheet is opened. Is this a viable solution?
The sheet is titled Summary (Sheet 1), and the range is A4:CI301 and I would like to sort based on the data in column C, in Descending order (C4 - C301).
Like I said, I'm not sure if this is the best method or not, so I am open to any suggestions that may be applicable.
I have tried to open an internet page usin excel in order to get some information, for this I wrote the following code which doesn't work:
Dim i As Integer For i = 2 To 3000 Workbooks.Open Filename:="http://www.anm.ro/anm/anm_maint.asp?anmPage=2&ID=i" Application.Goto Reference:="R12C3" Range("C12:C25").Select Selection.Copy ActiveWindow.ActivateNext ActiveCell.SpecialCells(xlLastCell).Next.Select ActiveSheet.Paste ActiveWindow.ActivateNext ActiveWorkbook.Close Next End Sub
How can I make so that, this procedure to open page with ID 2, and 3and so on
However, when this is executed it returns the following error:
Run-time error '-2146697210 (800c0006)': Method 'FollowHyperlink' of object '_Workbook' failed
Clearly, I'm doing something wrong. I wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that the webpage I'm trying to open is a pdf and not html or similar, but this doesn't appear to be the issue.
I want to make Excel show page breaks automatically when I open a new file. Please tell me how to do that. I tried changing the book.xlt and sheet.xlt files, but to no avail. I am using Excel 2003.
I want to create something like this: macro checking if file aaa.csv isn't open, if it is macro should stop and show message box "Close aaa.csv", and if file isn't open it should continue to work.
The file aaa.csv is stored in the same folder as workbook with my macro.
I need VBA code to check if two spreadsheets are open at the same time. One is named OMD.xls and the other Report.xls
If they are not, then I need the current sub-routine to stop and exit, followed by a message box that informs the user to open the two spreadsheets at the same time.
know a simple code that I can use in Excel VBA to simply check if Microsoft Word is open or not? I'm not worried about checking for a specific document, but just if the application is running or not.
I have to files and a macro which copies data from one file to the other. The code goes as follows:
Sub test()
Range("A2").Activate
ActiveCell.Copy
ChDir "D:" Workbooks.Open Filename:="D: est2.xls"
Range("B1").Select
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False End Sub
Everything is ok as long as the second file (test2) - the one data is copied to, is closed the moment the macro starts acting. The problem is: when test2.xls was opened before the macro was activated a window pops up saying that all unsaved data in test2.xls would be lost.
The best thing to do is to write a piece of code stating that : if the target file is closed then the macro should open it and do its stuff, but if the target file is already opened than the macro should simply switch to the already opened workbook without trying to reopen it. All I need is a piece of code regulating that
Y have files that are stored as .xla files because they are standalone applications that just contain the code.
Y need to test if one .xla file is open and if so close it, so i'am able to open another one. Otherwise the APP withevents from both APP get all mixed up.
I'am actually doing it from vb.net 2005 and i 'am using latebinding. But the code would be similar y guess.
