I have copied some data from a website. I need to plot these onto a histogram. (this I know). However, the values have a $ sign attached. Is there a way to remove a whole column of $ signs without having to do this one by one?
I am looking to remove numbers and symbols from a single cell.
For example, I start with something like: Cell A1: M. Flank1, T.D. Chang1*, T. Person2, J. Doe3 Cell A2: T.R. Money1*, Y.R. You2 ... and I want: Cell B1: M. Flank, T.D. Chang, T. Person, J. Doe Cell B2: T.R. Money, Y.R. You ...
And, there are about 300 more, with varying number of people per cell. I'm not great with Macros, so if there is a way without macros, that would be good, but, if a macro works best, I can give it a shot..
I have a spreadsheet that I exported from my accounting software. For some reason there are 4 columns that all begin with an apostrophe and have various lengths of white space before the wording begins.
What kind of formula can I use to get rid of the apostrophe and have the wording be left aligned within the cell with no space before or after it?
The file I am working on is attached. They are columns C, D, E and F.
I have a find and replace function that removes + smybols from a coloum of strings. How can I remove the first instance of a space (if it later contains a +, too?
Lotus 123 had a function where you could graphically, in a cell, show plus symbols(+) or negative symbols (-) for the value of the data. For example if you had a column of numbers that you calculated from the previous year that indicate the change, Lotus, in the next cell would allow you to graphically display the symbols that indicate the strength of the change. So if your result was a positive ten then ten plus symbols would be shown. If it was -20 then 20 negative symbols would be shown. Now the numbers I am looking at could be 600,00 and I believe there was a way to to proportion the symbols for example for every 100,000 put in one symbol so the result would be 6 (+) signs.
I need to remove the last bit of text from the contents of multiple cells in a column. In my attached example, I want to remove the last line break and the text " List Price ", by processing all the cells in the column at the same time.
I can add text OK in Format: Cells: Number: Custom using @"text" but haven't been able to figure out how to remove text yet!
I need to delete cells that contain certain characters (symbols) and space. Say I have some columns/rows like -
Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Text Box Text Box Power Power Place Nice Nice.Plus Jump Jump Over High (Jump) Car Black Car Green.Car Car's Color Cars Blue Color Green Red (Color) Black White
And now I need to have cell without those contain symbols or space or character like -
Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Text Box Power Nice Jump
I need to delete a leading space from multiple cells, 200 or more. The leading space is in front of text that is often more than one word so I can't just copy into Word and do a find and replace on the spaces.
I looked in many places and found out about the Trim function but when I tried it, it didn't work for me. I created a column next to the column that I want to remove the leading spaces from.
Then I put =TRIM(B2) in the first cell, =TRIM (B3) in the next one, etc. But all it did was put the exact same thing as before (with the leading space still in it) in that column?
I have a huge financial spreadsheet with linked formulas over multiple sheets, and several of these formulas have absolute references. I would like to be able to remove the anchoring so that I can insert rows without disrupting them. Since there are literally thousands of cells I would need to unanchor manually.
how to remove multiple leading and trailing spaces while leave spaces in the middle of the string in place? I have tried text to columns but this does not remove the multiple spaces.
D E I J Account1 Sum1 Account2 Sum2 151 93,79 BF2479 30,00 1476757 93,79 BF7 22,00 BF2479 30,00 151 93,79 86041 84,03 23235 30,00 534 6608,45
2. I need to clean the multiple identical data in the list by both Account no. and Sum (of course the list is much longer!) so that the list should look like this:
D E I J Account1 Sum1 Account2 Sum2
1476757 93,79 BF7 22,00
86041 84,03 23235 30,00 534 6608,45
I must say that I am a beginner in Excel, so I tried to use this:
(which is reverse of the first one) for column J; (The ranges are the ones used in the real sheet), not for the ones in the example above!); The formula does seem to eliminate a dew unwanted data, but does not give me all the wanted results!
I use an excel spreadsheet alot for billing in the construction industry. There are premade formulas in this spreadsheet. When no input value is present, the total column(s) either show a "$0.00" or show "#DIV/0!". How do I hide these results for the rows that do not yet have any input? I have seen it done on other speadsheets
I need to display the currency symbols for all European & Asia Pacific countries. The only ones available that I could find in excel help are , , . Does anyone know if there are more available? This seems limiting.
I have a column of IDs (260, 266, 405, 437, etc.). There are several instances of the same ID throughout the column. I would like to remove all but one instance of an ID so that I see what IDs I have. Is there a way to identify what IDs are there and then remove all but one of them?
This may be a very simple question so forgive me for my ignorance. I have text in individual cells that look something like this (not actually addresses but same format):
Doe, John 123, Anywhere St (Apt A), Anytown Anystate 12345
I have about 5,000 records. I would like to convert the records to look like this:
Doe John 123 Anywhere St Anytown Anystate 12345
Basically I want to take out all non alphanumeric characters and anything between curved or square brackets. In my minds eye my macro would read something like this:
Do until last character.
If character = alphanumericTrue Move to next characterFalse If character = spaceTrue Move to next characterFalse If character = curved or square bracketTrue Delete all text in brackets including brackets then move to next characterFalse Delete character then move to next character Loop. I would of course create an additional loop to run down the 5,000 records.
I have searched the many forum solutions for duplicates however the ones I found relate to a single column. However what I would like to be able to do is starting from row 6 is to remove duplicates of multiples columns of a single worksheet, namely columns M, O, P, Q and R. Note some cells in each column are blank.
To clarify - it would firstly check for duplicates in column M, keeping just one of the rows of the duplicated value and removing entiely the row/rows of where the duplications appeared. Then go through each of the other four columns. of the worksheet doing the same for each of the other four columns.
Then after the duplicates are removed from all five columns provide a tally at the bottom of the worksheet of how many times a value now appears in the cells of each of repective columns.
Im looking for a formula to count different symbols in a row. I am using =COUNTIF(A1:A1600,CHAR(251)) to count 1 symbol and =COUNTIF(A1:A1600,CHAR(252)) to count another. what i need is a formula to count all symbols no matter what they are. As in this case they will only be the 251 + 252 a formula just for that would be great.
I have a worksheet with what appears to be symbols or text boxes; squares, some with a check mark in them, some without. cannot select any of them to edit or delete them, I can type in the cell behind the symbol, the symbol hides the text. I can copy and paste them, but not delete them. how to identify them to edit and/or delete them. Password protection and all cells are unlocked as well. I have stumped as well as other forums.
I am importing content control information in a word file into excel by using a macro in excel. The information is coming across nicely but when the information about a checkbox comes across, in excel, that's what you see, a checkbox (☐ or ☒). Is there any way (formula or vba) to replace all the checkboxes with a yes or a no?
I wrote a formula that works:
Code: =IF(G8="☒","YeS","nO")
But this will add this information to a new column and I would like to replace the information in the existing column (the form has about 200 checkboxes) and I don't want to add a bunch of new columns.
I also toyed with VBA:
Code: Range("G1:G100").Replace "&", "No"
But when I try to paste the ☐ in the vba code, I get a "?" so I am assuming it doesn't recognize the ☐ as a valid character.
way to convert all symbols ( ) to their equvilant letters (u a) I know that I can do this manualuy with Find replace but I was hoping there was some magic that I am missing.
Please note that the exapples are only 2 of the symbols I need to convert the sheet could contain all of the varieties of symbol.
