In the old Excel it is possible to rename a chart by pressing SHIFT+Mouse Click and then write a new name in the upper left corner name box. You can apparently do the same thing in Excel 2007, but the new name doesn't stick.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to rename a chart in Excel 2013, but it keeps reverting my names. It looks like there might be a 32 character limit on the name length, but I cannot find any documentation supporting this.
In case it's not clear, I'm trying to rename a chart from Chart38 to "Productivity - Tractors CY/OP - Month", but once I press Enter, it changes back to Chart38. If I can shorten the name to less than 32 chars it seems to work, but that will be nearly impossible for some other charts.
I have a piece of code that arranges a chart to fit the data it should show. The code used to work perfectly in the old Excel version, but after an "upgrade" to Excel 2007 I get "Automation Error" from the line where the scale type is set.

One chart has the values going down from upper left to lower right
The other chart has the values going up from lower left to upper right
Is there anyway to merge these charts to see if they intersect at all?
I've prepared an excel file (excel 2007) with some tabs that contains several charts (4 to 6 charts). When I want to print this file, the sheets with the charts on it doesn't print properly. I have set the print area to cover the charts only and then set it to fit on 1 page but the charts will not scale to fit.
I read somewhere that this is an excel bug - is there a workaround for this?
I could resize all my charts smaller but only as a last resort.

Using Excel 2007. Is there a straightforward way to do a waterfall chart?
eg. stacked bars running from left to right.
First Column = 2011 Headcount
2nd Column = stacked bar with additions (by category) - stepping up from the 2011 total.
3rd Column = stacked bar with reductions (by category) - steppind down from the first column + 2nd colum total.
4th column = 2011 exit (which will be at the same height as the bottom of the 3rd column).

I am trying to put some charts into a report that is pivot table based. I have some code that will work if the pivot tables stay stagnic but the users may change the tables around so that could be an issue of new data. I have the following code where I changed the source to the pivot table name (general name because of numberous report possibilites). I have taken out the other charts because they are just a variation of the chart 1. I am crashing on the line with the * on it.

In a separate macro I will then want to open the workbook again and compare the last two tabs worth of data, to highlight where old data has been removed.

I have forty files in a folder that are generated by a system every day.
The files all have something in common, they all include "V9TEST" in them.

I have a folder containing pictures.
I have an excel sheet containing data.
The pictures' filenames are #s which are located in Column A of the spreadsheet. I would like to be able to have excel take the picture name, lookup which Row it is and then add the information from Column B, C, D and E into the filename. It would need to do it for all the pictures located in the folder.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIīd like to have a single workbook for each calendar year, with a tab for each date Monday through Friday (like 11-Jun, 12-Jun, etc.). I could then type the patients` names and times of arrival, among the other information I track. Alternatively, I could have a workbook for each month of each year (titled for example 2007 June or 2008 August), with the tabs titled by the date of the month (like 1, 4, 10, etc).
Is there an easy way to do this without manually renaming each tab for each day of the year?
If itīs too hard to limit the macro to create tabs for only the days of the workweek, it wouldnīt bother me if the workbook had to include every day of the week (Sunday-Saturday). I can always go back and delete the unnecessary ones.
I mean renaming tabs on the sheets, the tabs at the moment are called Output 1 (*****) instead of Sheet 1 etc.. and i would like that changed to contents in cell A9. If possible only the Output 1 will be removed and it will change to something similar "X-Ray (5E4TT)"

now the problem is, i pull of reports and sometimes worksheets can be up to one hundred.. now in cell a9 is the name of the report. I have found vba code to rename sheets to cell contents **extract below**
but any chance of renaming contents of cell a9 to a worksheet named Output 1 (*****) etc.. and if the contents of cell a9 can be trimmed so only certain part of a lengthy title

The Above O/p is anything aftyer / is ignore and the last character of the 1st field is A is replace with 0 and B is replace with 1.
I got a workbook containing a worksheet called APheb1.
I would like to create a macro that would replicate this worksheet and rename it APheb2, APheb3 etc... till a number i specify. For example if i specify 90, then it would replicate APheb1 90 times till APheb90.

I have several (around 35) CSV files that I download regulary. Is there a quick way to rename all the CSV files in a given folder based on adding "Update_" to each file name.
