Excel 2013 :: Renaming Charts Keeps Reverting Names

Jul 31, 2014

I am trying to rename a chart in Excel 2013, but it keeps reverting my names. It looks like there might be a 32 character limit on the name length, but I cannot find any documentation supporting this.

In case it's not clear, I'm trying to rename a chart from Chart38 to "Productivity - Tractors CY/OP - Month", but once I press Enter, it changes back to Chart38. If I can shorten the name to less than 32 chars it seems to work, but that will be nearly impossible for some other charts.

Excel 2013 :: Truncating File Names?

Jan 27, 2014

We have had a few instances where Excel 2013 is truncating a filename when saving for example "MF Not Settled - Dec 13 Rental A.." the filename includes additional characters than this but has replaced them with .., I initially thought it could be a file path length issue but the files in question the total length is less than 150 characters including the server name.

This is also happening with links inside excel files to different tabs in the same workbook and well as macro names causing them to have to be ran manually as it has truncated the name to .. at the end.

find some examples below:

Full filename: MF Jan 2014 vols Smart churn sensitivity
Truncated filename: MF Jan 2014 vols Smart churn...

Also if you try to link to the truncated workbook whilst open it displays the formula as:

='[MF Jan 2014 vols Smart churn...sitivity.xlsm]Input c!$E$13

My work around is to save the file to another folder, without closing it, and then it works fine. However, in doing this it will try to save as the truncated name, so I first have to select the correct name of the file in the existing folder, before saving to a separate folder. However, if the file is closed, and then reopened the problem returns.

Excel 2013 :: Not Loading Listbox With Sheet Names From Another Workbook

Feb 27, 2014

I've created a macro that loads a listbox with the sheet names from another workbook. It works fine with Excel 2007-2010 but some reason fails with 2013. It doesn't crash, it just doesn't add items to the listbox nor doest it add the caption to Userform1.Caption. It does launch the form. Here is the code snippet:

Code:
'open read-only
wbkpath = Sheet3.Cells(1, "f") 'full pathway to source workbook
Workbooks.Open Filename:=wbkpath, ReadOnly:=True
Set swbk = ActiveWorkbook

Excel 2013 :: Replacing Values In Existing Functions With Newly Defined Names

Jan 6, 2014

I'm trying to simplify a spreadsheet i've been given by defining names for certain values. I'm using Excel 2013. Is there any way to have all of the newly defined names I've created for cells automatically be inserted into all of the formulas that exist in the spreadsheet?

Example.

Old formula in one sheet of a workbook looks up a cell in another sheet with the value of ='sheet1!A1

I've given the value of cell A1 in Sheet1 a name of dgwd.

How do I get every formula in the workbook that references 'sheet1!A1 to change the value within that formula to dgwd?

Excel 2003 :: Renaming Textboxes Based On Their Position In Sheet?

Jun 14, 2013

I have an excel file (2003 version) with one sheet called sheet1.

On sheet1 I have multiple text boxes, however each text box has the same text box number "Text Box 1244" (this number appears in the top left-hand side in excel when I click the textbox).

I was wondering if it's possible to rename the text boxes based on their location on the sheet.

Eg. If i had a sheet with 5 rows of text boxes and 3 columns of text boxes (15 text boxes in total).

The top left-hand box gets renamed to "Text Box 1", then the text box below that gets renamed to "Text Box 2" and so on to the bottom of the sheet to "Text Box 5". Then the vba script would move to the text box that was to the right of the first text box (1st row again but 2nd column), and rename all the text boxes in that column ("Text Box 6" onward).

The outcome would look something like:
TB1 TB6 TB11
TB2 TB7 TB12
TB3 TB8 TB13
TB4 TB9 TB14
TB5 TB10 TB15

I'm stuck on this problem a while now and cannot find any scripts to solve it. My VBA is non-existent, I usually get by on bits of code I find on the web.

I hope each textbox has a hidden co-ordinate associated with it, then it might be possible to loop through all the textboxes based on their positions and rename them.

Excel 2013 :: No Column Headers?

Nov 28, 2013

My and a work college needed to combine our separate excel worksheets into a single document.

Office 2013 didn't have a function to "import sheet from file" so we used open office to import my .xlsx worksheets.

After we finished importing we exported the final workbook as .xls (so I could open it).

After opening the workbook on my pc (excel 2013) i notice some of the sheets no longer have column headers, but the row headings still exists. (No ABCD, only 1234)

Also I am unable to use features such as "Freeze Pane"

I suspect this was caused by importing and exporting through open office?

Excel 2013 :: Insert New Row But Keep Formula?

May 29, 2013

I have a complicated spreadsheet with several columns. Some columns B, D, E, F, M come from calculations on other columns or are columns copied from other worksheets within the same workbook.

I have another column C which is generated entirely off a macro with no input from the user.

I insert a row at line 8 (see above). However its just a blankrow and the formula highlighted in E2 does not show in E8 but it does appear for E9. I'd need that formula to be in E8.

My dilemma is how to insert a row and have it copy the formula from too.

I'd like to avoid copying another row into it and editing data. Other thing to avoid is putting all new rows at the end of the spreadsheet if possible. Has to be in the middle of the existing table.

I have Excel 2010 or 2013.

Excel 2013 :: How To Add Date Range

Mar 4, 2014

I have a big spreadsheet with IT / Finance data. Below is the formula, I currently have. I am summing column Y in Tab Savings Data Detail, where column A does not equal Parent, and The Value in Column AK on the Savings data details tab matches the value in current tab for cell B26 and where column G on the savings detail tab equals Transition to IT. I am adding that value to the second sumifs statement essentially the values in column X on the savings detail tab with the same criteria.

Now I need to add to each of these formulas. I need to sum only the values where the date value in column W on the data details tab is greater than or equal to 01/01/2013 and less than or equal to 12/31/2013

find the easiest way?

=SUMIFS('savings data details'!$Y:$Y,'savings data details'!$A:$A,"Parent",'savings data details'!$AK:$AK,$B26,'savings data details'!$G:$G,"Transition to IT")+
SUMIFS('savings data details'!$X:$X,'savings data details'!$A:$A,"Parent",'savings data details'!$AK:$AK,$B26,'savings data details'!$G:$G,"Transition to IT")

Excel 2013 :: Retrieve AutoFilter Criteria VBA

Jul 20, 2014

Is it possible to retrieve an arrary of the autofilter criteria. I know this is possible in pre 2007 but with 2007 onwards I can't find a way of doing it.

I know I can get all the available items in a list by using the scripting.dictionary and also by using the visible cells I could see what could be filtered but that is not really accurate for what I want.

E.G.

If I have multiple columns and look at the filtered information in one column I can retrieve an array of the visible cells from that column but that is not necessarily the criteria that is in the column. i.E. If another column has a filter rows may be filtered that would have otherwise been visible.
