I have a columb of positions which at the moment have a decimal place, I want to substitute the first decimal with a degree ie. S27.01.050 for S27°01.050 This has to apply to all cells in that columb.

I'm trying to convert degree minutes and second latitude and longitude to decimal lat and long in excel (I have 100s of such conversion to undertake). When trying out dividing the minutes and second by 60 and checking my calculation on Google Maps lat/long finder or Latlong.net my calculations are not correct. However the equation to other way around - converting from decimal lat long to DMS (*60) works.

Custom Format To Replace Decimal With Comma

I am having problems applying custom format to numbers that need to be formatted.
custom format use is 0",00". When I apply the custom format above to whole numbers, I achieve the results I want:

0.00
20.00
40.00

becomes

0,00
20,00
40,00

However, when I apply to numbers with decimal places

0.20.......

how I can change the custom format so that the period is replaced with a comma but the decimal values are preserved?

3rd Degree Polynomial

I have this data:

x y
310 516
320 526
325 535
330 587
335 640
340 715
345 857
350 1040

When I perform a third degree polynomial curve fit I get this equation:
y = 0.0106x3 - 10.0266x2 + 3152.3381x - 329943.8370
R2 = 0.9987

Which isnt right. On a calculator, I get negative numbers. Does excel have problems with 3rd degree polynomials?

I'm logging temperatures and I want to add the degree symbol "°" to the end of the numbers, how do I do that? It's easy if I just use one number (#°), but how do I do it when adding the lowest and highest in the same cell, e.g. 33-35?

Delete Degree Symbol Through VBA

Have written all the code to remove various words,numbers, etc from cells but this one symbol...I can not figure it out.

It looks like this:

Its the degree symbol, however using that symbol in VBA has proved to fail me. I have a large data set that is created for import but it will continue to fail until I remove this, Find(Replace) should work right? But using a search in VBA it deletes the entire cell.

Calculate 2nd Degree Polynomial Trendline Coefficients In VBA Without Using Cells

i have a function in a cell (that works) to extract coefficients from a range of cells in a workbook:

VB: =INDEX(LINEST(CP25:CP27,CQ25:CQ27^{1,2}),1)}

i have variables for cp25:cp27 and cq25:cq27 already defined in my vba code. the values for these in the case i am working on are as follows (returns 110.5):

cp25 = 560
cp26 = 570
cp27 = 580
cq25 = .414
cq26 = .479
cq27 = .536

1) how to do this function in VBA only - this is part of a UDF and cannot have any helper cells
2) how to refer to 560,570,580 as a 'range'. is there a way to put these six variables into my ranges for later processing?

All of the google searches i have deal only with linear regression, taking from existing graphs, or say to just use the function i have above.

I have tried

VB:

Var = Application.WorksheetFunction.LinEst(Sheets("references").Range("CP25:CP27"), Sheets("references").Range("CQ25:CQ27^{1,2}"), 1)

but return #value! errors. when i remove the ^{1,2} portion, i do return a value but it is incorrect (returns 160), what is the correct syntax for adding in the ^{1,2}? if you do that would be fantastic, but brings me back to issue #2 in that i need to refer to my variables in the vba code and not this range (as they will eventually be going away).

Extracting Variables From Quartic Function (4th Degree Polynomial)

I have quite a number of 4th degree polynomials and attempting to extract the variables from every equation. I used the formula below (from another thread);

=LOOKUP(99^99,--("0"&MID(A1,MIN(SEARCH({0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9},A1&"0 123456789")),ROW($1:$10000))))

but it only extracts the first variable.

4th degree polynomial function: f(x) = ax^4 + bx^3 + cx^2 + dx + e

Example of one of the equations: Y = -42.4276 + 319.989 X - 809.094 X^2 + 942.247 X ^3 - 397.587 X^4

I'll like to have the final result like below (Based on the Example equation above)

edcba-42.4276319.989-809.094942.247-397.587

I have a vba macro that takes data from one workbook and pastes it into another workbook. In doing this I have declared a few variables of type single (I only need two decimal precision). However, when I copy the values from the cells on the source workbook and paste them into the target workbook, the numbers end up having 12 decimal places. Ultimately, this extra precision causes my totals to be off by .01 or more after a while. I have to make a excel document in which I have length and width in feet and inch format.

E.g. 10.01 in which 10 is feet and .01 is inch

I have all the length and width values in the above format. And what I want to do is convert the inch value (10.01) to feet value (.01=.08 feet) .

I am trying to create a unique sample code by putting together the values of other cells that a user will input. It's all working well apart from the last part, where I am trying to include a decimal number. I want the decimal number to appear without the central "." and in a four digit format. e.g. 2.5 would appear as 0250, 14.25 would appear as 1425. This is the formlua I am using currently:

However, where the value of H4 is 2.5, I am getting a result of 0303 (I've put this part in bold). I have attached a small spreadsheet to aid understanding.

Excel 2003 :: Find And Replace Missing The Ability To Replace Values?

This problem has come up fairly frequently lately, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or if this is by design...but in Excel 2003 I can't seem to do a "Find and Replace" based on the value of a cell. I can do a find, based on cell value, but the moment I change to the replace tab, the "values" and "comments" are missing from the "look in" dropdown.

I've only noticed this when I'm trying to replace on a filtered list, so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue.

Perhaps an alternative way of arriving at the same goal. Basically I have a worksheet with a number of filtered columns. They are filtered just right, using custom filtering, and so I do not want to undo the filters. In some columns I have formulas that are returning #VALUE! errors. I'd like to replace all of these cells with NA.

I recently became owner of a spreadsheet with some issues, and I am trying to make it useful. Each row has a URL of a blog post, and I want to extract the date from it (which is present in each URL) while getting rid of the rest of the URL. I was able to get rid of everything up to the year (which comes first), but then the URL continues, for example, 2013/05/16/the-rest-of-the-url/ and I would like to just have 2013/05/16 remain.

I am trying to use find and replace with the find box reading 2013/??/??/*/ and replacing it with 2013/??/?? which effectively erases everything else in the url, but leaves ?? instead of the numbers. Is there any way to have it so that it keeps whatever was in the original box?

What i want it to do is find anything that says FWD_EUR and then replace that cell (e.g C2) with CASH_EUR_FWD and after it has done that it replaces the adjacent cell (e.g. D2) with EUR_FWD. I used the following code to replace " characters to !%. Then I copy the selected cells, and replace the !% back to "-es. The copied cells contain the "-es. When I comment the second replace, the function is working correctly, the copied cells contain the !%. What's the problem of my code?

If i user the format DD hh:mm:ss values over 32 will start counting the days from 0 (like a new month). and if i format it like M D h:m:s values < 32 days gets displayed with a 1 (for the month) before the days.

I need to create a formula in a spreadsheet so that when KWD or BHD is entered into a cell then another cell changes to 8 decimal places if neither of these are in the box then it needs to be 7 decimals! But the box that is changing needs to be alterable.

I have posted this on a non excel specialised forums and i got this answer:

in cell x you have "kwd"
in cell y you put: =IF(cell X="kwd",TEXT(cell Z,"#,##0.00000000"),TEXT(CELL z,"#,##0.0000000"))
in cell Z you put the value that you want to be alterable

Extract 2 digits to the right of a decimal when it ends in 0, AND keep it a value.

Ex: .69 .75 .50 .70 = 69 75 50 70.

Text to columns won't work because it has to calculate from other cells' data. This value is then used in an IF function.
