Return Cell Below VLOOKUP Result
May 30, 2006After using a vlookup to find a value in a cell I want it to return the cell belows information.

View 2 RepliesBeen working on this problem for a while, I need to have a vlookup (or other function) return locations based off of a concatenate (for unique identifiers). Only issue is that the concatenate formula creates doubles which returns the same location for each vlookup. I have attached an example file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using this formula (thanks to dafan & HalfAce [url]
=IF(VLOOKUP($A177,$A$736:$C$787,3,FALSE)=0,"",VLOOKUP($A177,$A$736:$I$787,3,FALSE))
to return the value located in the 3rd column of the range when the value in the 1st column of the range matches the data in A177.
However, there isn't a match for the data in A178 in the range, so the formula returns "#N/A". I would like the cell containing the formula to remain blank in those instances.
When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.
Is there any way that I can have the VLOOKUP return a zero (0) value when the result is #N/A? I need the number as a result to work with sums.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to return a result IF a certain value is found in another cell. I've attached a sample workbook, but here's a description:
On the "Inventory" worksheet, in column H, I want to lookup the quantity in column B from the "Warehouse Response" worksheet. If the Part # in column E of the response sheet is NI1088106, I want THAT value to show under the NI1088106 part number, and I want the quantities for the NI1089106 to show under that part number. Ideally, the result of the formula would show a "0" if no data is found.
Here's the formula I tried beside the NI1088106 data, but it's not giving the desired results: =IF('Warehouse Response'!E:E="NI1088106", VLOOKUP(LEFT(A3,3),data,2,0))
I am editing macro formula... is it possible VB does calculation during code execution & return only the value to Cell. this way the formula calculation remain hidden & code will probably run faster..eg.
Range("D3").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "= COUNTA(Data!C[-3])-1"
Range("D3").Select
Selection.Copy
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
I need to calculate & keep only value not formula in excel sheet each time the macro runs. I am getting error
Worksheets("data").Range("D3").Value = Application.CountA(Data![C:C]) - 1
In workbook 1, I have summary sheet with columns
A -> SNO
B -> Customer Name
C -> Product Name
D -> MODEL
E -> Quotation Rate
I have to retrieve MODEL & Quotation Rate .
and also having seperate sheet for each customers say X1 , Y1 , Z1 ( so other sheet names as X1, Y1 & Z1)
In X1 sheet , I do have following columns
A-> Product Name ,
b-> Model (as of now limited to 1 per product name)
c -> Rate
Now my request is as follows Based on the Column b value in Summary sheet - i have to goto respective sheet and do vlookup for the respective product name and retrieve model and fill it in Column D. I heard i can use INDIRECT function and Vlookup in this junction .
I am trying to use a VLOOKUP on a table of manufacturing die cuts of certain sizes.
A formula tells me a number close to the die that is available. The rule is to use the next larger size die cut for the job.
An example of die sizes are:
Die Sizes
108.0
112.7
114.3
117.5
My formula gives me 114.22, therefore, I should use the 114.3 die.
However, the VLOOKUP says 112.7, not the answer I want.
How can I adjust this VLOOKUP to give me the next size down? I am guessing a IF, but I am not the best at writing IF statements.
I have a table of repair jobs done over a period of time. I just need to determine during which shift was the repair job done. The time during which the job was initiated is called Notification Time.
If the job was done at, say, 0100 hrs, then it was done during Shift 1 (0000hrs to 0800 hrs)
If done at 0830 hrs, Shift 2 (0801 to 1600hrs)
If done at 2030 hrs, Shift 3 (1601 to 2359 hrs)
I need a formula to allow me to determine the Shift no. by just checking against the Notification Time column.
I have a spreadsheet where in cell E2 there is a drop down box with the following options to select: Warranty Replacement, Insurance Claim, Billing Issues, Retention Opportunities.
In cell F2 is where wait time minutes are generated depending on what is selected from the drop down box in E2. I am trying to create a nested IF formula for the following scenario:
Warranty Replacement = 20
Insurance Claim = 20
Billing Issues = 15
Retention Opportunities = 20
I am using VLOOKUP to find the size of a cam to be installed in a tablet press, based on the product code it will be running.
The array has two columns: (W) Product Code, (X) Cam Size.
Array: W4:X437
The user selects the Product Code from a drop-down list in cell E5.
The resulting Cam Size is displayed in cell E7. The VLOOKUP works fine.
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(E5,W4:X437,2,FALSE),"")
Occasionally, the cam size has to be updated. The user would then select a new cam size from a drop-down list in cell E9.
I have a "Update Cam Size" command button.
What I need to happen is for the value in E9 to replace the value in the array that is displayed in E7. Obviously, I have to know the location of the cell in the array, but I can't figure that part out. I've tried ADDRESS and MATCH functions, but it comes back with "#N/A" Value not available error.
=ADDRESS(MATCH(E7,W4:X437,0),2)
I have a spreadsheet that give me the percentage difference of two cell say a1 and a2 (=a2/a1)[format as % two decimal places]. The result is on say b5 as a %[format as % two decimal places]. Now on B6 I want to do this:
if B5 is >3.01% then b6 =" Market Test Required"
if B5 is +3% then b6 =110
if B5 is +2% then b6 =106
if B5 is +1% then b6 =103
if B5 is 0% then b6 =100
if B5 is -1% then b6 =96
if B5 is -2% then b6 =93
if B5 is -3% then b6 =90
if B5 is >-3.01% then b6 ="Market Test Required"
So on and so on.... I would really appreciate your help on this issue.
I have used excel for some time now but not with complex formulas or any vb.
what I would like to do is view a cell result in my userform with out deleting my formula
It works perfect from the excel side but I just cant get it right from the user form side
Ok so cell D6 contains a vlookup formula. I want the vlookup result to appear in my userform. I can get this to work but it overrides the vlookup formula with the result. This means that when I go to use it again it just shows the same result.This is what I have:
Cell D8 has a Combobox with a list of names to select from
this is the formula in cell D6 =VLOOKUP(D8,B107:I754,2,FALSE) This retrieves the selected customers account number from the combobox. I need my userform to display the account number with out erasing the formulas because I will need to search for more account numbers after.
I have named the textbox in my userform Customeraccountb
I am trying to write a formula to figure out Body Mass Indexes for certain age groups and whether or not they fall into a High or Low risk category. So, I am trying to write a formula that does the following. I have 3 columns, Gender, Age and BMI. I need the formula to do the following.
IF Gender = M AND Age >18, <39 AND BMI >7%, <19%, Then return an "L" into 4th column
IF Gender = M AND Age >18, <39 AND BMI >19%, Then return an "H" into 4th column
IF Gender = M AND Age >40, <59 AND BMI >14%, <23%, Then return an "L" into 4th column..............................
I deal with a rather large excel database (the range is A1:AV168266) that contains customer information. Some of these various customers are affiliated with a group called "ascend" and I need to be able to filter all my list by every customer affilliated with Ascend. The trouble is that the word "ascend" can appear in 8 different columns and usually when it appears in one column it doesn't appear in the others and their can also be more text in the cell beyond the word "ascend". I want to create a formula that will simply look for the word "ascend" in any cell of a row and return a result I can filter by. I will be putting the formula in column AW and put it in all 170,000 rows of that column, that way I can just filter by a single column.
I've played around with combining COUNTIF with SEARCH and MATCH with SEARCH but nothing seems to work.
I am trying to use vlookup to locate a cell in another work book. The identifier is in the same workbook as the vlookup formula however the table and column to look within is in another. The identifier will also show up in the other work book where the table resides.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi am trying to write some code to analyse a weightlifting movement that occurs 3 times. In particular there is a part of the macro where the user will input the start and end time of the movement using input boxes (to only select relevant data).
I want to then use a vlookup function to search for the start and end times in a range (1 column) in the time range and return the cell reference of these so i can select only these values and either create a graph or do more analysis. My code for this particular part so far looks like:
is there anyway to have a vlookup formula display a blank cell instead of #N/A if the value it was looking for is not found. For example the first spreadsheet contains the persons name say Bob, the 2nd spreadsheet that the vlookup formula is searching does not contain the name Bob right now excel shows #N/A but what I want it to show is a blank cell. I've tried conditional formating to just white out the text if #N/A appears but can't seem to get that to work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Vlookup, it returns a number, and when it doesn't find a match it returns N/A, and when it does return a match and the return value cell is blank, it returns 0. Is there any way I can have this so when it doesn't find a match, it returns a blank cell, and when it finds a match and there is no value in the return cell, it returns a blank cell as well, rather than 0?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am struggling with the Vlookup function on Excell 2003. I am trying to lookup data with refernce to two cells to return the data. for example cell A1 = 1 AND cell B1 = 2 then return column 3 data. However I need this in a lookup or something very similar.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a normal VLOOKUP of this loookup range:
A 1
B 2
C 3
D 4
=VLOOKUP(T14,U6:V9,2,TRUE)
If the value in T14 is in the lookup range, I get the expected value returned. If the value exceeds the vlaues in the lookup range (e.g. I enter "E"), I get the last value in the range (4). How do I get it to return a blank cell if the entry in T14 is not found?
I think I am surrounded by trees and can't find the forest, I have a list of tariffs and need to get them to a generic name. The attached file may help, the gist of it is I need to output the generic name for each tariff instead of the supplier name for that tariff.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for a solution to my formula problem in this forum regarding vlookup and saw similar formula e.i returning multiple values but it doesn't cater with what I need.
Vlook is returning only the first value but what I need is to return all the multiple return values in 1 cell. I've attached a sample worksheet for reference.
OK for example if i hae this list of data:
Invoice number Order number
111 560
112 561
112 562
113 563
What i need to do is a vlookup from the above table to return the following:
Invoice Number Order number
111 560
112 561, 562
113 563
Traditionally the vookup will return the first value it can match. I can return multiple values on different lines using an array formula but this is not useful.
In the example below I have table array A1:B8. Lookup criteria in cell A11 and want to return MULTIPLE values from column B in cell B11.
I would prefer to not use VBA if possible
A
B
1
[Code]....
This is probably really basic but can anybody tell me how to return the colour of a cell aswell as the content in a vlookup??

I need to compare a string from say A1 to a range of cells in another workbook and if found return the value of a cell on the same row.
Something like - look up string value in A1 in other workbook.sheet1.A1:A65535 if matched return the value of matched row column b.
OR
IF Otherworkbook.sheet1.A20 = A1 return the value of B20
