Return Active Cell's Location/row
I'm having trouble identifing a way to return a location for the position of the active cell. I've searched Excel help with "Position, location, return, activecell, etc." and I can't seem to figure this out. I know that it's possible, so that's why I'm on here!
...
Ok, say the active cell is currently "F1", and I need the location "F1" to identify the ROW to be used in a formula later, how would I go about that?
The current contents of cell "F1"' will be "REPLACE", but I need to change the words "REPLACE" in "F1" and other cells labeled "REPLACE" in column F to the following formula (where the "1" in "A1" is is the current row):

Highlighting Active Cell's Row, Along With Any Row That Shares Same Value In That Column
Is it possible to click on a cell in column C, and have the wishlist below happen: That active cell's row is hightlighted. Any cell in that column that has the same value as active cell is also highlighted. Plus, any cell in another sheet that has that value it's row is highlighted too. Example: I click on C5 in Sheet 2 its value is 45000789 it row is highlighted, this value also appears in C3 in the same sheet, so it's row is highlighted as well. Plus, in sheet 1 in C10 this value appears and it's row is highlighted as well. When any of the values are clicked again the highlight is removed from all parties.

Select A Range Based On Active Cell Location?
I'm trying to select a range of cells whereby the range is dependent on the currently active cell. I know you can use the "Activesheet.Range("A1:D2").select" method to select a range where the cells are always the same, but I'm after a dynamic selection where the values can be programmatically altered depending on some other result. For example, let's say that I make a certain cell active (based on the result of some other formula), and I want to select the range of cells in the adjacent column that is X rows deep. Putting this into context, imagine the resultant active cell is B2, I then want to select the range C2:C10, but if the active cell is E10, the range selected would be F10:F18 (if active cell is X, then range would be Y:Z). The Offset function would allow me to position the cell based on the current active one, but it doesn't let me select a range. The Range function only lets you choose either hard coded or index cells, e.g. "Range(cells(y,z), cells(y,z)).select", but this is still no good because I'd need to know the index value of the active cell (can this be done?).

Method 'location' Of Object '_Chart' Failed
I'm currently working on a fairly complex VBA project in Excel 2007. Basically though, I'm downloading information from a site, massaging it, creating a lot of graphs, saving them locally, deleting the chart from excel. I then save a copy of the workbook to a local file, clear the Spreadsheet, and then Do the same for information from another site. When I had all of the code in one Module and ran it as a macro it ran flawlessly. Now i've put the information into a Class. And am pretty much running the same process via a UserForm. The problem I have though is that at any point after I execute the (and please assume that all variables have been declared, because they have)

Insert Row On Sheet & Move Active Cell Row To It
I would like to create a macro that could archive entries from one sheet and insert them in another. I created one but the problem is that the entry has to be the same row each time. Example: Sheet 1 – is current jobs and sheet 2 is old jobs. My macro moves an entry from Row A-5 of Sheet 1 and moves it to the top of Sheet 2. I would like to be able to scroll through each entry select it and have it moved to the top of the Old Jobs sheet.

So if the value in F12 = 950 and 100 is the value in the active cell the maximum value in F12 should show 1000, not 1050. It should do this on the click of a button.

Create Macro To Chart Data With Location As Object In Active Sheet
I have been trying to create a macro in excel to chart a selection of data and to output the chart on the active sheet where the data was taken (as opposed to a named sheet). So basically, I have about 300 worksheets with data, and I would like to have a button on each page that automatically charts that data when clicked, and outputs the chart to the page where the macro was clicked. However, I have not been able to figure out a relative reference that will allow me to make the LocationasObject reference simply the ActiveSheet as opposed to a specifically named sheet. See my code below, which references an output to a worksheet called "Charts". Right now, all of my charts are outputting to the sheet called "Charts", as opposed to the active sheet. Sub ConsDiscChart() ActiveCell.Offset(29, 11).Range("A1").Select Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select Selection.End(xlUp).Select Selection.End(xlUp).Select Selection.End(xlUp).Select Selection.End(xlUp).Select Selection.End(xlUp).Select Selection.End(xlUp).Select Selection.End(xlDown).Select ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Range("A1:B1").Select Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select ActiveCell.Offset(0, -1).Range("A1:C24").Select Charts.Add ActiveChart.ChartType = xlLineMarkers ActiveChart.Location Where:=xlLocationAsObject, Name:="Charts" With ActiveChart .HasTitle = False .Axes(xlCategory, xlPrimary).HasTitle = False .Axes(xlValue, xlPrimary).HasTitle = False End With End Sub

Function To Mirroring Cell Relative To Function's Location
I have created a List in excel of various tasks. (See attached example.) Each row contains one cell with a function which equals the cell above it and to the right. So the function for cell C3 would be D2. The only importance is that the cell mirrored is always the cell one above and to the right. However, now I would like to be able to rearrange this List, but the “one up and to the right” function will now be all over the place. Is someone aware of a function which will target a relative location instead of an exact cell?

Using 'IF' With Conditional Format (change Cell Color Based On The 'P' Or 'F')

Samples of what I've tried: =IF(LEFT(L23,1)=P) =IF(MID(L23,1,1)=P) etc. I can 'FIND' the 'P' or 'F' but there may be a P or F else where in the cell so the color may come up incorrect. I'm trying to get it to just look at the first character in the cell. Can the 'IF' be used with CFs?

Pick Data From A Specific Row/column (eg 10/B) Related To Active Cell
I have a spreadsheet with my Periods along row 10. e.g. C10: "1", D10: "2", E10 "3", F10: "4", G10: "5" etc. (green on the attached sheet). I have my departments along column B, e.g. B11: "Baked" B12: "Fresh" B13: "Frozen" (yellow on the attached sheet) what I need and cannot work out is some VBA code that will populate two variables (lets call them Period & Department) when I click on one of the figures. For example if I click on cell: if I click E14: Period would have the contents of cell E10, and Department the contents of cell B14. if i click G14: Period would have the contents of G10, and Department the contents of cell B14 again. I know how to get the click on the cell to work properly etc, and I have code to slot these variables into that works very nicely, I just can't get this bit to work!!!!

How To Restrict The Cell Data To Letters 'a' Through 'e' AND 'A' Through 'E'
I am trying to come up with an excel shee which can track the progress of a student on practice exams. This exam only has multiple choice questions, with answer choices A,B,C,D or E. What I am looking for 1) I want to restrict the cell data to A,B,C,D or E (both cases). Note that I am not looking for a drop down/combo box. It would take the user to use one or two mouse clicks to drop down the list, and I am not in favor of that. 2) I would like this validation/formula to be applied to all the cells in a particular column. 3) Nice-to-have. If the user enters a lower case letter, then I would like to convert to upper case.

Return The Nearest Cell Above That Isn't 0
I have a list in column A that goes [Blue,0,0,0,Green,0,0,Orange,0,0,0,0,0, etc.] The number of 0s is not in any pattern. Based on column A, I would like column B to go [Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Green, Green, Green, Orange, Orange, Orange, Orange, Orange, Orange,etc.]. So, I would like column B to look at column A, and if it is a 0, return the nearest color above. I was thinking of maybe using a whole bunch of imbedded "if" functions that would keep going up and up if it was 0 and then return the cell when it's not 0, but sometimes it might be 30 0s, so I'm not sure that's the most efficient way to go about it (or maybe it is and I'm not thinking about it right). Does anyone know a nice neat little function that would work? I've attached a sample spreadsheet that illustrates what I'm trying to do. Column A is what I start with and Column C is where I'd like to be.

Return A Cell Formula's Parameters
i need to essentially find and replace udf's and the complication is rearranging the parameters in the udf's into a new formula structure. so my question, is there an easy way to extract a parameter (or all parameters) from a function? for example, if you had = SUM(A1,A2,A3:A6) you would return 'A1' as the first parameter, 'A2' as the second and 'A3:A6' as the third. Obviously it gets complicated when you nest functions such as =SUM(IF(A2=1,0,A1),A3) etc and the if() function would be parameter 1.
