Return Row# Of Max Value In A Column
I need (index? vlookup? if? match?). I did try this on my own and searched the board for help, but I couldn't seem to find something that applied. Sorry if this question is too simple or has been asked before.
In Excel 2003 I want to return the row # of the maximum value in a columnar range.

Return Max Value From Column Range
I have exported data that will possibly have duplicate row entries of any number. I sort the data ascending by 'Agent Name' and then by 'Login Time'. Since vlookup returns the very first occurence grabbing the first in time is easy, but I'm having trouble grabbing the last logout time. Match Text In Column Of Another Workbook & Return Nth Column Same Row
I have two excel files. File #1 is a varying length and has 4 columns with ID #s in Column A. File #2 is a two column file that contains a list of ID #s in column A AND modified ID#s in column B. I need to match the ID #s in column A from file# 1 to the list in column A of file#2 then replace ALL instances of the matching ID #s in column A of file#1, with the values found in column B of file #2. I've tried using the substitute function but I could only replace one found ID at a time.

Formula To Go Through Each Row And If The 2nd Column Is Yes Then Return The First Column
I have a collection of data like the following: Week1 | yes Week2 | no Week3 | no Week4 | yes Week5 | no ... Week28 | yes I need a formula to go through each row and if the 2nd column is yes then return the first column. I could then copy and paste this formula into a the next cell, add an argument saying the returned value cannot be the same as the previous ones, and so on. Essentially this is a series of nested IF statements. However, Excel prevents more than 7 statements from being nested, when I need all 28 to be searched. I cannot think of a way to get VLOOKUP, INDEX & MATCH, or defined names to make this work, because it needs to step through each row.

Lookup Value Then Return Value In Row 1 Of That Column
I have a list of values in column A (part numbers) In columns B to E I have lists of similar values (part numbers, with row 1 representing their location e.g warehouse, office, etc). In column F2 I would like to search for the value in A2 in the range B2:E100 and return the value in B1:E1 if the value appears... if it doesnt appear in any of the columns I would like 'not located' to appear in F2. I've been trying to do this for a while but am making no progress at all.

I would like to use a macro to find a number in a worksheet, other than the worksheet i'm using the macro in. The number - in this case a material code located in Column A - must be entered by the user in an inputbox, and then return (copy&paste?) the value of another cell (the price of the material - in Column D) in the same row. I recorded a macro envoking the find function, but then it only finds the number which I used during the recording. How do I change the code so that the user can input any number, or what code must I write?

I am wanting to allow the user to select a cell in a worksheet and return the cell address and information/value from the cell. For example, if "Dog" is in cell A1 and "Cat" is cell A2 and the user initiates the Macro I would like the macro to to pop up a message box and say something like "Select a cell in Column A". Trying to write a formula that looks for the first number in the same row, then returns the value in that column in a different row. In the example included, cell A-7 should contain the formula. Find Value In Table & Return Column / Row Header
I am having trouble with getting a value (which is the row and column value) from a set of numbers. I have attached an example table to try and make things clearer. What I have is a table with a set of Row Headers, and Columns Headers all numeric. e.g Columns headed 1, 2, 3, 4, Rows 30, 40, 50 etc. I want to find the 1st occurrence of a value e.g. 1.0 in the table (by 1st Up mean closest to top left), and then give me the value of the Row and Column Header that corresponds to that. So for the example attached, I want to get the row Value 200 and Column 6 from finding the 1st occurrence of the number 1. I have tried various combinations of index and Match etc. But I can't get my head around the fact that the position of the 1st no. 1.0 can change, therefore I can't use any releative positions etc.

Find Data In Column Range & Return Cell Same Row But X Columns To Right
i have is 3 sheets in the same excel document. Sheet 1 is the mater sheet, which is a compilation of sheets 2 and 3, however the sheet layouts are different. The sheets consist of a list of names and details. Sheet 1 has all the names in the list, however sheet 2 and 3 only have partial lists that are in a different order from the original list. The details listed next to the names in sheets 2 and 3 are different and hence a straight forward row copy and paste will not work. What i need is to write a vba script that can take the name from the master list, search sheets 2 and 3 for the name and lookup the variables placed in next to the name, then update the master sheet accordingly, then continue to the next name on the master sheet and do the update again, and so on until all is updated. I have already thought about using lookup functions in excel however there is 1000 names on the list and around 60 details so it would be messy.

Trying To Find Max Date In 1 Column For Selected Text In Another Column
I have 2 columns: Locations (Column A) & Dates (Column B). I want to find the most recent date for a selected Location (stored in $G$1). currently I have in C2: =If($A2=$G$1,$B2,"") copied down the column to the end of data (currently C153). Then in C1: =Max(C$2:C$153). I also have in D2: =If($C2<$C$1,$C2,"") copied down to D153, and in D1: =Max(D$2:D$153) to find the 2nd most recent date. Is there some way to condense this into just 2 cells? See attached file for example (note the columns are currently sorted by date, but that is not always the case).

Get Name Associated With Max Number Of Row
I have a row of company names and the row below them is their offer price for a particular property. I need to pull the max price of each row into a summary page, which is easy, but how do I also pull the name associated with the max offer price? In the Total Sales worksheet, I have a a cell in S2 that I wish to show the max value from the "total sales" colum and then show the first and last name related to that particular row where the max value was. so, I only have =MAX(O2:O112), but I want to show the Name associated with the max and not just the $ amount. Column Max From VBA
I have an alphabetical employee listing. I need it to be in a specified, non-alphabetical order occasionally. I want to be able to double-click on a name and then have a number written to a column within the employee's row. The number would be the next-in-sequence, starting from 1. If no other numbers are within the column of data, the employee row would be marked as "1". The next record selected would be "2", etc. I know how to do the double-click stuff and the activeCell.offset to write the data into the desired location but can't figure out how to do the 1, 2, 3,etc stuff.

Max Among I's- Column-A Contains Either Of The Three Values - I, II, III
I have a two columns of data. Column-A contains either of the three values - I, II, III for all entries and corresponding to that in Column-B it can be any number from 001-300. It must be kept in mind that to enter 001 in any cell I'll have to convert it into text. So we have mixture of text and numbers. A B I 001 III 231 II 102 III 299 III 251 I 006 II 105 and the list continues forever. What I want to do is just to extract the maximum value of the last number allocated to anyone of the I's. Like in the above table max/last value of I = 006; II = 105 & III = 299. This will help me start from the next number when I re-start again.

Formula To Count MAX Of A Column With Condition
problem is in the same vain as my last thread "Formula to count MIN with condition". In the attached worksheet samples, Col B has competition dates, Col C is time/distance data, Col C (filled down) is the formula that recogises if the time/distance is a PB. Once a season there is an event "REGION" where I want the formula to ignore the data in Col C adjacent to "REGION". The date of REGION changes every year and could be anywhere in Col B. The first attachment is what the sheet currently looks like and the second is what I want it to record, specifically D11. Even though D10 is a better distance, it would be ignored as it is REGION.

Finding Max Column Width Without A Loop?
I have a range of cells which I wish to print to a .txt document. However, I would like these cells to stay aligned, one on top of the other. I am currently doing that by finding the cell with the widest piece of data for each column, and storing the width that each column needs to be to an array of integers. Then, when printing out the range, I simply add spaces to each piece of data its width is the same as the max column width. Min, Max, Median Conditioned On String In Column Next To
I am trying to calculate min, max, average and median of a range, where the range need to be defined by a string in the column next to the data. If a given row contain a string like "ABN" then the data in the row should be included in the range and the same goes for the next rows. And so on for other strings. So basicly, what I need to do is to run through all the rows in column A and check if the string in the cell match my criteria (Ex. "ABN") and if so, then include the data in column B in my range and continue to the next cell. And afterwards calculate min, max, average and median.
