I have the following sample data set and I'm trying to return the appropriate column header based on criteria (i.e. DDD) and a number value which will be somewhere within the range of the table. In example below, the value returned should be Header 2 because the value is greater than those in Header 1 column (range H9 to L26).
I know the column number (57) and want the formula to return the column name (BE) Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;not using vba that is! or if so , a custom function so macros dont have to be run.
I'm trying to write a code that calculates 2nd column based on 3rd column's number or vice versa based on the condition set on the 1st column. Below, there are two procedures. "SimpleCalc" and "SimpleCalc2". I first wrote SimpleCalc2, but it isn't working, so I worked around the error by writing SimpleCalc, which selects a cell and moves around by offset. I personally find it hard to read and error prone as I develop more logic around it.
I'm trying to develop more function based on this code, so I need to make it neat and flexible. what I'm doing wrong in SimpleCalc2? Or do you have any suggestion to improve the code "SimpleCalc"? I'm using Excel 2003.
Sub SimpleCalc()
Dim SimpleMethodRng, SimpleMethod As String, i As Integer
i have 2 sheets one called "IS" and the other called "AS" in cell a2 of "IS" is a number that i need to have excel look up in column a of "AS" once it find that number i need it to return the number thats in column e of that row to sheet "IS"column d. summary: a2 of "IS" looked up on sheet "AS" and returns the number in column e to cell d2 of "IS"
But the number of columns is dynamic, so I don't know which one is the end. So I have the column number but cannot figure out how to reference the column range by number. I have tried versions of the code below but they all give different errors. This one is Run-time error 1004 Application-defined or object-defined error.
I'm still confused regarding a complex formula - rather n00b. Using Office 2007 with XP. Can't figure out with help or previous questions.
The following is what I would like this formula to accomplish. Picture included below.
Take all the values of column of C and add them together if and only if the corresponding date value in column A is during the month of January (and February, March, and so forth).
I 'm trying to do one macros where the user has to choose the column where he wants to work, to avoid the user start counting the number of the letter that corresponds in the alphabet, I would like to make it easer, because working with column numbers when programming is easier, but in terms of user is easier to work with letters
I've been searching the forums for this problem but I can't seem to find any answers. Anyway, this is the problem. See screenshot.
I want to compare A1 for the values in column B, then return the corresponding cell (column C) in column D. e.g. D1 = 2, D2 = 1, D3 = 4, D4 = 5 and D5 = 3.
If possible could someone please help with changing the below code so that column "D" in the rngIn part of the code can be a variable. i.e so the user can select one, two, three or four columns (with visible data) to be copied. The "b3" part is a constant.
I want to create a user defined function to search a column of data for a part number.
If it exists I want to have a the UDf returna "fail" otherwise "pass"
Here is the code I was trying to use
Function firstpass(SN As String) As String ws = Worksheets("Defects") c = "" With ws.Range("a1:a9999") Set c = .Find(SN, LookIn:=xlValues, lookat:=xlWhole) End With If Not c Is Nothing Then firstpass = "Pass" Else firstpass = "Fail" End If
End Function
This function only returns a "#value" and I don't quite know how to troubleshoot it.
I have a column with zeros, positive numbers, and negative numbers. I need to find the last (bottom) positive number in the column.
Ex:
Column A has -
$50 $0 -$10 $22 $0 -$14
I want a formula or function in B1 that would return $22. However if I add a new row under the -$14 which contains $37, the formula should then return $37.
I have been googling all night, and I can't make this work.
I have a Range variable that points to a particular cell. If I wanted the address, I would do, cellName.Address. This returns, for example, "$F$3". If I wanted to have the column "F" as a number (column F would be the 6th column, so 6), how could I do that without storing some kind of array of letters and number equivilants. It would also have to work past the 26th column when the column addresses switch to, like, "AA", "AB" etc.
I have range like (3E:3K) in this range are only 2 different expressions. "Result and " forecast". I wanna look from left to right for the first cell with the string "forecast". And than I want to work with the column of this cell, only this column.
How do i do that?
Edited I corrected the coordinates. I want to look in a specific column line (Nr.3) from there the first Cell with "Forecast" and from that String the row number.
They following 4 posts were based on wrong informations by me.
I'm looking to create a macro which displays a user entry box where the user can input a starting number and then input an ending number. The macro will then cycle through that range inputting each value into a specific cell and perform a print function. It will continue doing this until the last number in the range.
E.g. Min. Number inputted = 1 Max. Number inputted = 80 Macro will not cycle through that range: Input 1 into Sheet1 Range A1 Print Page Input 2 into Sheet1 Range A1 Print Page .....Continue doing this until it reaches 80
I have a Workbook that has 2 worksheets, one called CALL QUERY and one called CALL LOG. On the CALL QUERY sheet, cell D9 is a user inputted cell with the cell validation set to list. The user uses the dripdown list to pick an office identifier (3-Letter Code).
On the CALL LOG sheet, I have info about individual calls. Column E has the 3-letter office identifier for each call.
I am trying to find a way to automatically auto filter the list on the CALL LOG sheet with the user input in cell D9 on the CALL QUERY sheet.
I was given the following (N2 is a cell on the CALL LOG sheet that equals the user inputted cell D9 on the CALL QUERY sheet)
I am trying to see if there is a way using count or another option, of using one formula to look in a column and then spit out how many of each item are there:
i.e: lets say it says a, b, c, d etc...
Can a formula go through and say you have 3 of a, 5 of b and so on
I understand the basic of count sum iserror etc, just not sure if excel can do what I am wanting or if i should use access.
I have the following two rows that I'm looking to return a single column number that maxes two criteria. In the example, 70, 30 would return column 7. I'm not looking to create a dummy row the combines the two. Reason for using MATCH or HLOOKUP is that the two values may not be the values in the given table.
I was just recently forced to create my first UDF and after how well it worked I now am very interested in learning more. I am trying to create a function to sort a range by the values in a specific column and return the range. I know this should be really simple but for some reason my code dies whenever it gets to my inner-most loop. I need to use this in a larger function but for now this is my only question. I did find that Excel 2007 has built in Functions for this but my company still uses 2003.
My Public Function SortRange(rngToSort As Range, valCol As Integer) Dim Swapper As Variant Dim i As Integer, _ j As Integer, _ k As Integer
For i = 1 To rngToSort.Rows.Count For j = 1 To rngToSort.Rows.Count - i If rngToSort(j + 1, valCol) < rngToSort(j, valCol) Then For k = 1 To rngToSort.Columns.Count Swapper = rngToSort(j, k) rngToSort(j, k) = rngToSort(j + 1, k) rngToSort(j + 1, k) = Swapper Next k End If Next j Next i SortRange = rngToSort End Function
I need a formula that will return the minimum value from a column range that flexs without having to manually go in an change row references. There is a blank row between each section of data in order to separate info. As an example:....
Need to formula to flex to include rows 5 thru 7 in the first section but expand to include rows 9 thru 13 in the second section. =MIN(A5.A7) works but how do I get next section to flex to =MIN(A9.A13) without manually changing the cell references? There is always a blank row in between the sections to separate.
i have a combobox that uses a named range as the rowsource. does anyone know how I can limit the return list to only the third column of the range? My partial code below is to be used to pick the number of days associated with a particular project type. The range"Project_Durationlbx" has three columns in it. THe first is the Project type and the third is the number of days. can the rowsource of a combobox be written to hold a formula?
If Me.cbxProjType.Value "Non Sourcing Activity" Then Me.cbxNSAWorkDays.RowSource = "Project_Durationlbx"
I have seen a few entries where the rowsource is made dynamic but was unable to adapt the reasoning myself.
I have exported data that will possibly have duplicate row entries of any number. I sort the data ascending by 'Agent Name' and then by 'Login Time'. Since vlookup returns the very first occurence grabbing the first in time is easy, but I'm having trouble grabbing the last logout time.
This array formula was my latest attempt: =VLOOKUP(B9,INDEX(A2:A6,MAX(IF(A2:A6=B9,E2:E6)),0):$E$6,5,0)
