I have a list of projects and a list of milestones and I want to extract every milestone for a project one by one. I have found a way to do this for one project but as there is not a fixed number of milestones, it's proving tricky to do it for multiple projects as I don't know how to tell the formula to stop looking at the Project 1 and move on to Project 3 for example.
This is a very very simplified version of my table (there are other columns inbetween and many more projects)
I have a spreadsheet where I am tracking several entries in a table that will keep growing. Three fields are Data Validation Drop Down Lists. The macro below works well to clear the two lists to the right when the first one is changed by the user.
I want this to affect the rows below it in the table as they are added.
I am trying to basically search for the last non zero entry in a column and then return a value in the same row as that last non zero entry.
My first column of the table is time, second column is submission/marking of coursework (denoted by +1 & -1) and the third column is the number of courseworks awaiting to be marked. My aim is to search the third column for the last non zero value then return the time (from first column) that last non zero value appears.
In my userform I have a list of check box's that can be selected. Currently if more than one is selected, they will appear in the spread sheet in the same line one after another with a space between them. How do I make it so they either appear with a comma appearing after each, so the next value appears on the next line below or most perferably the cell turning to a drop down list with the values?
VB: If CheckBox1.Value = True Then ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value & " " & CheckBox1.Caption If CheckBox2.Value = True Then ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value & " " & CheckBox2.Caption If CheckBox3.Value = True Then ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value & " " & CheckBox3.Caption If CheckBox4.Value = True Then ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value & " " & CheckBox4.Caption If CheckBox5.Value = True Then ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value & " " & CheckBox5.Caption If CheckBox6.Value = True Then ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = ws.Cells(iRow, 2).Value & " " & CheckBox6.Caption

I have a column of cells with Customer info and address in each row, that I need to move into multiple columns. ie Cust name, acct #,address, city, state, zip the problem is ALL of the info for each customer is in ONE cell.To be clear, cell B1 has complete name address etc for one customer, B2 has the info for another, B3... on and on. To complicate matters as in the example, there is not a pattern in the lines. the first example shows the info beginning on the 2nd line of the cell, but the 2nd example shows info in the first line. I have tried the text to column fixed width. Didn't work because names and addresses are of varying lengths. Then I tried delimited, but there isn't a common separation between different data. I am using excel 2007. FYI I did go through many many threads and found some that were close to my problem but not close enough to work.

I have a pivot table in Excel 2003 which summarises one field (subjective) then totals at the change of a second field (cost centre). I want to show the cost centre label on each line of subjective. In a standard pivot table it only shows the cost centre with the first subjective in each group.
Is it possible to show a table in a user form? For example I have a table that is 4 columns wide and 5 rows deep with lines seperating both. I have tried using a text box and list box to achieve the results I am looking for but can't figure out how to add lines to seperate data between rows and columns.
I have a table which is refreshed from a view on our SQL server. I use a part of this data further on and would like to automate the following: I would like to have a range set which I can use to loop through data. The range should hold the filtered data of table "PremiumTable", the columns "Grouping2", "Price", "Grower"
I have found a couple of posts giving the ability to create a range of visible cells and specific columns, but I wasn't able to combine this yet.
I want to create a certification only list on a separate tab of training that has been completed where a certification has been issued (as indicated by a "Y" in the "Certification?" column on the training tracking tab) and then populate from some of the fields vs. all of the fields.
What I have now, only pulls the first occurence, not all occurences. I saw that I could have identified the multiple columns that needed to be populated, but it didn't work either, so I'm fine putting a separate vlookup in each column.
I have a spreadsheet of prices (raw data), and I need to pull out both the most recent price for each item for a specific customer code for each item, as well as the second most recent price, (essentially the old price), for that customer code for each item.
I have columns for ITEM (code), PTC (Customer Code), PRICE, and EFF (Effective Date). For each item code, there are multiple prices for multiple customers, such as in the linked workbook.
I am currently using the formula, =INDEX(PRICE,MATCH(1,(F2=ITEM)*(G2=PTC),0)) to pull out the last price. This works because the last price is on top based on sorting. What I need is a formula that pulls out the next oldest price for that item/ptc combo. I tried using the SMALL function to no success.
I have a number of array formulas that refer back to the table in the top left. The array formulas are in Columns I and L, and cells N200, N203, and P203.
Normally when I add a new line to the top left table (usually by clicking on the empty box below the previous final line and typing the date), the table expands by one row and the array formulas all adjust to match, i.e. all the A180/C180s in the formulas become A181/C181s, etc.
However every once in a while (maybe once a month), the arrays simply refuse to update, and I can't figure out why. When they fail, they all fail, it's not hit or miss. You'll see in the attached sheet that though I've added a line to the table (A181) and data to that line, all the arrays still read through A180/C180.
Why this randomly fails to update, and if it's something I'm doing incorrectly?
And that leads to an associated question. In the past when this has failed in this manner, I've laboriously gone through and changed all the cell references manually, in every single individual cell. (After doing it once, the arrays usually magically start auto-expanding again.) I'm certain there is a way to make those formulas refer to a named range, instead of all being manual references, but after spending an hour on it, I keep getting #VALUE errors.
I've been using [URL] ..... and pages like it as a reference without success. Obviously, I would prefer that the formulas auto-update without issue per my first issue above, but in the event that they don't, it'd be really nice to just change the ranges in one location and have that propagate across the sheet.
Index across multiple sheets returning multiple values
I am building a payroll workbook and I need to build a sheet that will allow me to choose an employee name and the formula will return all the data related to this employee. I found this forumla to do this: =IF(ROWS(...)<=...;INDEX(INDIRECT(...);SMALL(IF(...=...;ROW(...)-ROW(...)+1);ROWS(...)));"")
But in my workbook, the data is on multiple sheets . How do I adapt this formula to look into 12 sheets?
that data would be returned in order of the date of the pay.
I am looking to return text based on the maximum value in a table.
Let's call the column with the animals over it "A" and the one with the numbers "B", and the rows are 1-5 to make explanations easier
I am looking to have a formula return the name of the animal with the highest three numbers (fish, cat, horse), but don't need the numbers. I am pretty confident this would be an index match formula, but I'm not too familiar with those functions.
I have a set of cells and i want it to return all of the distinct or unique values within that matrix. for example, lets say this table charts how many sales an employee makes in a week.
sun mon tues weds thurs fri sat john doe 1 0 3 2 3 0 0 jane doe 0 8 0 1 0 7 0 james doe 3 3 2 3 2 1 1
the desired output would be: 0,1,2,3,7,8
I don't want to be copying all of the cells or doing a lot of manipulation - i know i can copy, sort, and get unique values that way - i want a formula where as i plug in values, this field is updated to include all of the distinct or unique values.
I have a pretty large table,(153,000 rows) My lookup_value is a 7 digit number. If my lookup_value isn't in the lookup_vector, it should return "#N/A" (which it does most of the time) but I noticed it was returning a result when the lookup_value didn't exist...it didn't exist anywhere in the table.
i have a question with regards to the shading of a table in excel 2010.The grey/white shading of the sheet should adjust automatically when lines are inserted / deleted...what would be the most efficient way?
The code below (ran from Excel vba) deletes all data from an Access table, paste data from Excel into another table, and then run two Access Macro's and paste data from yet another table back into Excel.
My problem is that when I run the query from Excel, the data returned to Excel is always zero. When I step through the code, and check the Access database, all the steps are carried out properly. E.g, the delete query is deleting all the records in the correct table, the append query is copying the correct data into the correct table in Access. The two macros do run, but then when the resulting table is returned to Excel, it brings back zero's.
Doing all this manually in Access is returning the data correctly.
The two Access macros are running some queries, E.g. the "001 UpdateLatestData" is running two queries and the "002 CreateMonthlyResults" is running about 15 separte queries.

I have to the following lines in the header (left side). Canadian Mutual Fund Industry Gross Sales By Fund Company As at January 31, 2006 (FYTD Tier 1 Firms) (C$ 000's)
the date is Strored in strDatey. the problem I m having is that I don't know how to make muliple lines in the header through the code.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim strHeader As String Dim strDatey As String Sheets("FYTD Gross (Tier 1)").Select strDatey = "April 20" MsgBox (strDatey) strHeader = strHeader & "Canadian Mutual Fund Industry " & strDatey ' text strDatey
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.LeftHeader = strHeader End Sub
I am building a table that assigns three roles to chores: Accountable, Helper1, and Helper2. I have a "user interface" tab, where there is a dropdown list where particular chores can be selected. I am looking to have the people in each role for the selected chore returned into the cells. I have attached an example file to clarification. For example, I am looking to have the name (Mike, Shannon, Tom, Blake, Kelsey, Sam) from tab #2 populated into the related cells C3, D3, and E3 on tab#1. I think it's possible with a long imbedded IF function, but I am looking for a more simple solution if possible.
I have a list of car-dealers and licence plate numbers. f.e. data in tab 1 Supplier-Cars.jpg
In another tab (let's call this tab 2) I have to make drop-down lists, depending on the value in this drop-down the cell next to it must give the list of cars from this supplier. f.e. if I select in the first line Supplier 1, I get a drop-down list where I can select Car 1 if I select in the second line Supplier 4, I get a drop-down list where I can select Car 4, 6 or 7 etc. Because of the number of suppliers, I can not work with predefined lists where I put all the suppliers one next to the other...
have a drop-down in each line to go look for the cars depending on the supplier I selected ?
how to copy cells from different columns to another workbook and to do this for several lines? The macro stops at the blue line
For i = 8 To WS2.Cells(Rows.Count, 3).End(xlUp).Row If MySheet.Name = WS2.Cells(i, 3).Value Then WS2(i, 4).Copy Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False Destination = WB1.Worksheets(table(z)).Range("G10")
up to ten such entries may appear in each cell with an arbitrary number in each cell. They were entered using the ALT+Enter method. Is there an easy formula to extract each row (such as 44049,99820,'1') to use in a formula. If there are two entries I would like to write two separate rows like:
LINE 34567,43510,'1' LINE 44049,99820,'1'
If a macro would be required I understand and could use that also.
