SUM With Criteria - Getting Error Due To Division By 0
Jul 4, 2013
I am puzzled with the following formula (entered with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER) and it will not work. I get a error due to division by 0
{=SUM((MONTH(A$1:A$25)={1,2,3,11,12})*B$1:B$25)/SUM(MONTH(A$1:A$25)={1,2,3,11,12})}
My intention is to simply get an average of the values in column B if its respective row in column A is month # 1,2,3,11, or 12
A
B
1
01/15/2013
100
[Code] ......
Refer to the above table. Since A1, A2, A5, and A6 are having the months I seek, I then need Excel to use the values in B1,B2,B5, and B6 to offer me the average. In this case it should be (100+200+500+600)=1400 then divided by the number of occurrences column A had months that matched my criteria=4... so the final answer i would need is 1400/4 = 350

I have a column where I am dividing 2 values in 2 different cells in 2 other columns. Obviously, wherever there is a zero in the denominator, the result is '# div/0!'. How can I get these to just be zero in these cases?

I'm trying to get the % increase but when its goes from 0 to "xx value", I get the division by zero error.
For example:
2006 Sales: 0
2007 Sales: 10,000
It would show the correct % increase in sales.

In the attached file I am simply trying to get a percentage for a given group based on the column "annual starts". When I try and copy down the formula for the other cells it gives me an error because its using the wrong denominator (the errors show up in the excel sheet as #div/0).How can I make this consistent?

I have a forecast for a week, all days I type in, the real order, in the end of the week I got a difference between the forecast and the real orders. the difference can be positive or negative, in any case I want that difference to be added on the next cell on next week, plus the difference between the forecast and the real order from the day before, and so on.
I'm using this formula "E4*($L$3+1+IF(K4,ABS(K3/K4-1),0))" but if the real order is less than the forecast the formula add the difference increasing in a positive way, when what I want is decrease the value if the difference shows a negative tendency.
hope this make sense.
I attached a file with what I intend to do.

I work in a finance dept and we often need to divide our numbers into 12 months but I need to only work with whole numbers, not decimals. Is there a way for example of forcing either in a formula or with VBA code to get 10,000 to divide equally by 12 months? At the moment it comes out at 833.333333. What I want is something that randomly assigns 833 to any one of the 11 months of the year and for the other remaining month put in the difference which is 837 to get the total to add up to 10,000exactly.

1) I am trying to find a matching value in a table. I have a 5*252 table that starts in B2. So the table goes from B2 to F253. I am trying to match a value in column D (column 3 in the table and column 4 in the spreadsheet) with a value in Column F (column 5 in the table and column 6 in the spreadsheet). The original value is in cell 222 in the table and cell 224 in the spreadsheet.
I tried the LOOKUP, VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP functions, but they return nothing but N/A. I use a reference cell or just the value for the lookup value but it does not work. I do not know if I am using the wrong formulas or what, but I have tried various permutations. (question 3 in excel workbook )
2) I am trying to calculate the standard deviation of a column D (contains both numbers and text) divided by column B (first in table). Excel does not appear to have a custom division formula. It has a remainder and a quotient formula which does not apply here. The problem is that the STDEV function does not allow for a division sign (/) in the formula. the STDEV function does ignore texts.
Is there a way for me to divide a cell ( containing both letters and numbers) by another cell just containing numbers and then taking the standard deviation of those values all in one formula?

I need a slight mod to the below code which works perfectly otherwise. What it does is it divides whatever is in column K by 30 and puts in its relative cell in column M( There a bunch of mini tables below each other with blank rows in between).
The thing is sometimes there are characters in column K like "N/A" for instance and the macro crashes since its only designed to take into account numerical and blank cells in column K.

We make many graphs using XYscatter charts with lots of data points using Excel 2003 with the horizontal scale properly scaled as frequency. I have been asked to label that axis in some way as period (=1/frequency) without changing the scaling for the data plot. Is there a suitable way to do this? It would be OK to just change the axis numbers to 1/frequency computed from them automatically. Is Excel 2010 any easier for this?

I have the following two columns in A1:B4 (customer # followed by percentage)
1 0.5
2 0.9
3 0.8
4 #DIV/0!
In column D i have a list of the customer #s. In column E i try to identify if the customer in column D have a percentage >=.8.
I am using the below formula, but getting a #DIV/0! error due to the error in cell B4, which i am not allowed to change using an iferror formula.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A4=D2),--(B1:B4>=0.8))
Is there a way to get around this using sumproduct or any other method to determine if the customer in D has a percentage >= 80%?

I am trying to define a dynamic range based upon error criteria. After the first error, all the subsequent cells are filled with the error and I would like to limit the named range to the rows with no errors (one column wide). I am thinking something similar to (realizing this is probably very wrong):
=OFFSET( 'Basin Routing'!$X$5,0,0, COUNTIF('Basin Routing'!$X:$X,AND(NOT(ISBLANK()),NOT(ISERROR()))),1)

Error Check Marco.xlsm
see attached example. I am trying to write an error detection routine that iterates through worksheets that have numeric values for names (ignore text names or alphanumeric). Macro checks range on each numeric worksheet E3:E33 and is supposed to report back on the SummarySheet if any value other than 1 or 0 is found in range E3:E33 on any numeric-name worksheet. Code as follows:
[Code] ....
Problem is that it just reports EVERY worksheet as having an error when clearly most don't (none do I think in the attached example).
Try changing some of ranges E3:E33 to values other than 1 or 0, it still reports all sheets. Why the macro does not evaluate the range E3:E33 properly and just reports every worksheet as having an error?

See the attached sheet. I am trying to add together two figs which are linked to calculations which have formula built in to stop error messages when there is a 0 / 0 = #value type error. However when these two cells are added, if the cells are blank I get an error message. And if only one cell has a value, I get "" with my existing formula. what I need to do to get a result of 7 if for example cell A4 = "" + B4 =7. At the moment my formula shows "" in the sum total of these cells

OK, so I have a userform with some text boxes that I have specially formatted to accept only date values in the form of mm/dd/yy. By default they are blank. I have a check in one of my codes that looks like this
Code:
If DateBox vbNullString And DateValue(DateBox) > checkdate Then
M1 = "NEOPRENE" & Chr(13)
Else
M1 = "" & Chr(13)
End If
Where DateBox is this specially formatted TextBox and checkdate is a future date being checked against.So if DateBox has a value in it AND that value is greater than the date being checked against the returend string is Neoprene, otherwise it is blank.
Well the problem I have is when the first condition returns FALSE, i.e. when DateBox is empty, the DateValue half still gets evaluated and returns a type missmatch error or something like that because DateValue("") returns an error. I have line of code 8 times, one for Neoprene, squeegee, etc. So the name of the text boxes are each unique and I am using M1, M2, M3, etc.
For other reasons, use of "On Error Resume Next" doesn't work for this situation because it causes a result opposite to what I want to happen.

the if stattement works perfectly and does exactly what i want except when it comes to the else part. if there is no error the statements are run perfectly but if there is an error (in this case the error is generated when a match cannot be found in the spreadsheet) the else statement doesnt kick in and post the msgbox.
the code just crashes. and returns an error 1004 on the line i have highlighted in yellow
res = WorksheetFunction.Match(invvar, Columns(1), 0)
If Not IsError(res) Then
Me.txtClientID.Value = ws13. Cells(res, 7)
Me.txtNumber.Value = ws13.Cells(res, 7)
Me.txtDate.Value = ws13.Cells(res, 8)

I have some code that, although works fine in Excel 2003, does not in Excel 1997. I receive this error when I try running it:
COMPILE ERROR:

Sub HPVAL()
Dim r As Range, myStr As String
myStr = "HP"
Set r = Cells. Find(What:=myStr, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt _

False, SearchFormat:=False)
If Not r Is Nothing Then
r = r.Value
While Not r Is Nothing
Set r = Cells.FindNext(r)
If Not r Is Nothing Then
r = r.Value
End If
Wend
End If
End Sub
It looks like Excel is getting hung up on the "SearchFormat:=" portion of the code.

So the issue I am having is that I have a worksheet with two long rows of value. If the user enters the incorrect value, the program gives a error case of 1004. If and when this error occurs I want the program to send a MessageBox to the user then end the program. The problem that I am running into is that whenever I write On Error Goto... It Goes to the label whenever any runtime error occurs. My belief is that there has to be a way to only check for a runtime error on a single line of code rather than the entire sub.

I am looking for a more efficient way to write a macro (a sample from the macro is below). This is just the first part of the macro. I need to repeat these same steps (seen for row 5 below) for rows 5 to 50. My script worked until I hit row 35 and then I got the "compile error.." message. whether I can handle errors in a way that tells me which object caused the error?
For example if a userform has two combobox's and one causes an error, can I return to a message box containing the name of the object (combobox1 or combobox2)?
I have tried returning err.source but I am either not using it correctly or it isn't intended to be used this way.
