Search And Replace In First Part ONLY Of Cell

Jul 2, 2014

I have a work problem where my spreadsheets have the following structure due to faulty optical character recognition:

Ringholm 8 G R hem.ag Bavik Postl 115 O Amtervik
Rinman K H B dir Johannebergsg 34 Goteborg S
Risberg L kass Mitandersfors Bogen

In some cases the letters in the beginning of the cells have been misread as a number (above S as 8), so I want to search and replace those numbers with the correct letter without changing the correct numbers at the end of the cells to letters too. Is there any way to write a search-and-replace code in VBA that will only implement the search-and-replace in (for example) the first five letter-spaces of the cell?

Find And Replace Part Of Cell

May 20, 2009

As part of a macro i do a find and replace on a range cells that replaces "/1" with nothing (""). Therefore 2/1 becomes 2, what i don't want though is if the de-nominator includes a 1 but not only 1 to keep the whole of the de-nominator, say 8/11 does not want to become 8/1.

Find And Replace Part Of Another Formula With Value Of Cell

Jun 26, 2012

I have a formula in cell J2:

='H:Folder[CI10001G.xlsm]Sheet'!$C$5

I need a macro that will change the part of the formula that is "CI10001G" to the value of cell A2 which would basically be something along the lines of "CI10004D" so the formula would change to the following:

='H:Folder[CI10004D.xlsm]Sheet'!$C$5

And then this formula will then successfully look in the newly directly file path.

Find Part Of Text Within Cell And Replace From Another Cell

Nov 24, 2008

I need to find the "x" in range C2:C44 and replace it with a value (variable) specified in cell I2

The catch is that I then need to be ablt to change that character when I2 changes.

Coloum C
*VER
*T’x’STATUS
*ON
*OFF
*T’x’BANDS

EG

I2 - Variable = B
*T’x’STATUS will become *T’B’STATUS

I2 - Variable = A
*T’x’STATUS will become *T’A’STATUS

But " *OFF " should not change.

I can change *T’x’STATUS to *T’B’STATUS but then I can change *T’B’STATUS to *T’A’STATUS

Please see attached example file as it shows it better than I can explain it.

Search Certain Part Of Cell

Feb 3, 2010

i have a array table

all the rows of data get a unique file number , no duplicates.

the file number format is 1.01, or 241.00, or 5132.03,etc.

all numbers to the left of the period symbol are "file info" reference
all numbers to the right of the period symbol are "bills" found inside the file #.
there can be any amount of file #'s, always starting from 1 thru as many as there can be (apprx. thousands of files). and the bills can be from .00 thru .99

my search field ($r$9), need to search or find only the exact match to the left of the period.

NEED to search for file 1, i need the array table to kick back only the file numbers 1.01 and 1.65, not 241.00 not 3.01.

how can i search only the text before the period to the left and exactly what is entered into my search box?

Search & Replace - Preserve Cell Format

I'm using the code below to do a simple search & replace. The code is working fine.
My problem is after the search & replace is done, certain cells that contain numbers look weird with decimal points & plus signs similar to Format Cells - Scientific. How do I prevent these cells from looking 'weird' in my code?

I've attached a workbook with 2 sheets called Before & After. You can see the 'weird' cells in After.

Sub Macro1()
Cells.Replace What:=": ", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder _
:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False, ReplaceFormat:=False

Search Across Columns By Row & Replace Specific Cell Contents

May 2, 2008

I have created a desk planning spreadsheet in excel. Each week a mailmerge sends out an email to everyone in the office asking them to confirm when they will need a desk in the next week.

As the normal employee doesnt get involved in desk planning I want them simply to state whether they will be in the building or not by entering "GH" (our building) in a cell under each day in the email they get sent.

When the reply comes in we select the cells from the email and then paste them into the desk planning spreadsheet.
-----

WHAT I NEED TO DO:
Select some cells (must be in the same row - that we have just pasted in).
Press a button on the Worksheet labelled "Auto Assign Desk", which does this:-
For each cell that contains "GH", replace with the right-most cell to the left of the selection that starts "GH_"... (this is the start of a unique desk reference (GH_1_1, GH_1_2,etc.)
-----

This will assign the employee to the desk they were sat at last, when they are in the office next week.

Where last year = 2011

Yr=2012

Replace Part Of Longer Function

Mar 14, 2014

I am working with a lot of data and have been making a table of statistical analysis for several rock types. I have it worked out to where i can filter the data and with the use of a bunch of IF functions, below, and it keeps everything the way I want.

{=MAX(IF($H$2:$H$22="sedimentary rocks",$W$2:$W$22))}

The problem is I have to introduce new rock types, but if I just copy the formulas over i then have to go through hundreds of cells and switch sedimentary rocks to volcanic or whatever new class i have.

How this can be done faster. Maybe some way to say "find "text" within this range and replace" i can do it for actual values but when its embedded in a function im not sure.

Suppress Zeros In A Pivot Table (search Out Any Zeros And Replace With A Blank Cell)

Oct 12, 2009

with the data in the attached sheet, I create several different pivot tables that need show the count of the information in the columns M:DU. My issue is that the data is sent to me from a third party and the columns contain zeros that cause the counts to inflate.

What I would like to be able to do is run a macro that will search out any zeros in M:DU and replace them with a blank cell.

Unfortunately the number of rows increases with every monthly reporting cycle so the macro would need to be able to accommodate for that.

Search & Replace Date In Date And Time Cell

Aug 16, 2008

I have several hundred rows of date/times which I need to modify just the date (for example 08/23/2007 11:00 to 08/15/2008 11:00). Each row may have a different time so it is just the date I'm targeting for change.

If I manually use the replace dialog, replacing 08/23/2007 with 08/15/2008 works just fine. However, if in code I attempt to use the Cells.Replace function, it does not locate any data to change.

I have found that if I search for the string 8/23/2007, the dates are located and changed. Only when I attempt to find the fully formatted date 08/23/2007 does the function fail.
