Search multiple cells for certain string and then replace the text of the entire cell with new text. For example the text may contain:
"A Chestnut Leather Satchel Binocular Case "They'll Fight Over When You're Dead" (Binocularcase-SL-CH)"
I want to search for SL-CH and once that is found I want to replace the contents of the entire cell with the following: Satchel Chestnut (SL-CH)
I want to replace all blank cells in column A with the word "BLANK" but my problem is that I need to tell Excel to stop searching for blank cells in column A once and only once column A is equal to the last data row in the column named "Product Number". I tried this macro but, naturally, it replaces all the empty cells in the WHOLE COLUMN.
I will always have a header column in row 1. The data is below that (data will always start at row 2).

I want to do is search for "&s_kwcid" or anything containing "&s_kwcid" and replace it with blank. So above would then read:
fdfs
sfsd
&dfsdaf&dsafdsf
fdsf&dasfsdf
I tried =IF(SUM(COUNTIF(E2,{"&s_kwcid*"}))=1,E2,"") but it didn't work. I tried auto filtering, and using contains &s_kwcid* but it didn't filter out results, but find &s_kwcid did find results for text anywhere in string, so I know the problem is there.
I have over 16000 cells with different information in them, each cell is unique. There are parts of these cells that have similar information.
I am looking to search part of the cell, and replace the whole cell with my new description, so I can run pivot tables on it.
I would like to create a macro to search all blank cells within a certain range in multiple worksheets to replace it with a certain blank cell. Essentially i would like to use a special values function to do this.

These are very simple instructions and in most cases repetitive throughout the document. There are a lot of instances where the instructions are the same except for a #. They are meant to be modified within the cell as the text that appears in the cell will be printed exactly as it appears.There are several instructions in the cell, it is basically a long continuous string in the cell. My idea is to create a macro that can search that range of cells for the instruction, replace it with the Spanish equivalent while leaving the original English instruction in the cell.

In some cases the letters in the beginning of the cells have been misread as a number (above S as 8), so I want to search and replace those numbers with the correct letter without changing the correct numbers at the end of the cells to letters too. Is there any way to write a search-and-replace code in VBA that will only implement the search-and-replace in (for example) the first five letter-spaces of the cell?

I would like it only to change the space between the words to a + sign.
I'm using the code below to do a simple search & replace. The code is working fine.
My problem is after the search & replace is done, certain cells that contain numbers look weird with decimal points & plus signs similar to Format Cells - Scientific. How do I prevent these cells from looking 'weird' in my code?

I have values in row A and I have values in row C. I want to create a loop to look up xxx and replace it with the values consecutively in row C. Look at example for a better Idea. I found a way to find and replace, but I not sure how to use it with qoutes. I was thinking maybe I dont even need row A and just supply a list and excel could have the chunk of data in the code itself.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a desk planning spreadsheet in excel. Each week a mailmerge sends out an email to everyone in the office asking them to confirm when they will need a desk in the next week.
As the normal employee doesnt get involved in desk planning I want them simply to state whether they will be in the building or not by entering "GH" (our building) in a cell under each day in the email they get sent.
When the reply comes in we select the cells from the email and then paste them into the desk planning spreadsheet.

WHAT I NEED TO DO:
Select some cells (must be in the same row - that we have just pasted in).
Press a button on the Worksheet labelled "Auto Assign Desk", which does this:-
For each cell that contains "GH", replace with the right-most cell to the left of the selection that starts "GH_"... (this is the start of a unique desk reference (GH_1_1, GH_1_2,etc.)

Structure:
I have a worksheet with the cells in one of the columns having html tags inside of each cell.
The tags vary by location within the cell and there are anywhere from 0-10 tags per cell.
Column A is the text string. Inside these cells are the tags. The tags are of form

I have a macro that searches and replaces dates (both text and date formats) in all files in a folder. It works if I initiate it from the VBA Editor, but not if I initiate it from the file.
It seems that the worksheet is not activating. Please take a look and let me know what I can try.
Things I have already tried: Window methods, such as minimizing the workbook that contains the macro, activate next, etc. Also putting the macro in Personal.xls and retrieving the values from the other file.
Where it hangs is right after the first workbook in the folder is opened. I tried to get it to select A1 in the active sheet but that cell is not selected in either the macro workbook or the newly opened workbook.
Also, if there is an easy way to exclude my macro file (name contains ZZZZ) from the FileSearch............
Is it possible to select specific cells and then have the Replace feature only apply to those cells, particularly if I use the Replace-All button?

I've written a very simple script to replace carriage return characters with <br> tags (so I can use the output in html pages) - however for some reason when I loop the script down the cells, it ignores certain cells and works perfectly on the rest.
The only 'variable' I can spot is that the ones it misses tend to be longer cells with more text (the one's that failed were 938 characters and 910 I think).
Can anyone tell me if there is a limit on how big a cell VBA can process and if so, how I can work around this? Is it possible to load and parse each character one by one in VBA or something?

with the data in the attached sheet, I create several different pivot tables that need show the count of the information in the columns M:DU. My issue is that the data is sent to me from a third party and the columns contain zeros that cause the counts to inflate.
What I would like to be able to do is run a macro that will search out any zeros in M:DU and replace them with a blank cell.
Unfortunately the number of rows increases with every monthly reporting cycle so the macro would need to be able to accommodate for that.
I need to create a macro to do the following:
Search the activecell for a text string (a), and then either paste in text string (b) at the end of the cell if (a) is found, or text string (c) if (a) is not found.
For example, if the activecell has "AA/" in it, I want the cell to become "AA/01" (pasting in "01" at the end), and if the cell has just "AA" in it, I want it to still become "AA/01" (pasting "/01" at the end). The macro will be linked to a commandbutton.

Trying to repeat a 550 or so character statement with a find/replace however I am getting type mismatch errors. When I use a smaller message in the "replace" it works.

Search a worksheet for a user defined text string, and have excell return the contents of a predetermined column in the same row in which the text string was found.
A prepopulated worksheet has the text "gold" entered in cell T278.
1. user searches for "yellow_metal"
2. Excell finds "yellow_metal" in row 278, say in cell A278.
3. Excell then goes to predetermined column (programed as part of macro or VB), say "T", and returns the text contents of the cell in that column, T278 in this example.
4. Excell returns "gold"
I have one sheet and i want to compare the first word in the column "D". If the first word of D2, is the same than the first word of D3, i want to copy to another sheet and after the copy, insert 2 blank rows... if it's different, i want to copy and insert 3 blank rows

I have several hundred rows of date/times which I need to modify just the date (for example 08/23/2007 11:00 to 08/15/2008 11:00). Each row may have a different time so it is just the date I'm targeting for change.
If I manually use the replace dialog, replacing 08/23/2007 with 08/15/2008 works just fine. However, if in code I attempt to use the Cells.Replace function, it does not locate any data to change.
I have found that if I search for the string 8/23/2007, the dates are located and changed. Only when I attempt to find the fully formatted date 08/23/2007 does the function fail.
I am looking for a syntax or function wherin i can replace all lines in different cells containing specific string or text in it. e.g. Few cells in sheet contains " This guy is for deployment", other few cells may contain "guy is for core deployment" and other cells may have " project is specific deployment". I want to search within cells A4:F25 for "B71 - Brown" and show the number that is in the cell below this text. If there is multiple cells with "B71 - Brown" I would like the cell to show the total.
So for example,If the formula was looking for "B71 - Brown" in the cell it would show 8136. (A13+A21+D25+E17). If i changed it to "Lavender" it would show 2380. (C5)
Also this data is linked from several other sheets and the values i search for will change and will need to update.
