The problem is that A1:C14 contains blank cells, and there is also an adjacent column D that I do not want to copy.
So, UsedRegion and CurrentRegion aren't doing it for me. (It selects Column D too.)
Obviously, this is an example...the real data set is an export and varies in size.

Jan 11, 2005I'm attempting to write a macro that will select all the rows which contain a value in a specific column. Say for example, all the instances of "test" in column C, I need to select the entire row with that value in the column.
I should also mention that by using an autofilter, only specific row numbers are selected. The source spreadsheet is dynamic and will not always display the same value in the same row, and thus I need something a little more adaptable.

May 15, 2012I have a worksheet which already has some built in formulas which take the data in columns V and W, and use them to build other coding in column P. The trick is that the coding created in column P will be six times as long as the source data in columns V and W.
I.e., a single row containing "Sample1" and "Sample 2" in columns V and W respectively create the six following rows in column P:
Row 1:
Row 2: TMUnknown
Row 3: tested1
Row 4: Sample1
Row 5: Sample2
Row 6:
I want to be able to select the accurate length of Column P, which should be 6x as long as columns V or W. Any dynamic way to do this? (Since the amount of data pasted into columns V and W will change each time I use this worksheet.) I know how to select set ranges, but not how to adjust them as multiples of the length of another column

Sep 11, 2013I want to select a range of rows 11, 14 and 23 to 24 in column j, plus the 2 rows to the right of column J and run a sum formula on the range. My procedure is selecting rows 11/14/23/24 and doing the sum for only column J. How do I make it so it runs the sum formula on all 3 columns. My code is copied below. I am fairly new to VBA.

Selecting Data By Values
Mar 19, 2014I have a worksheet with about 10,000 rows of data and from this raw data I need to create 60 or so separate spreadsheets for 60 different companies- so around 160 some row actually pertain to a given client. However, it's not fixed and from one month to the next the actual number of rows changes so I can't just use a simple range. There are two possible ways to mark that the data pertains to a new client. But it will be easier to just show a quick example:

So anytime it runs into "Total" in column 1 it should know to start another iteration or when the cell in column b does not equal the cell directly above it. Below is a truncated version of what I have so far:

Selecting Data Over A Date Range
Sep 12, 2009I have 2 worksheets where I need to transfer a certain amount of data from one to another depending on dates.
Sheet ‘A’, is the main data source. Col A holds all 365 dates from 1 Jan to 31 Dec(starting at A2), and the subsequent data for each day is held in cols B to P.
Sheet ‘B’ is the destination where the user will specify a key date in cell A3, then in A4 to A32, formulae populate the next 29 dates (ie so there is a continuous run of 30 days).
What I need to do, is to identify the same 30 day range from sheet B on sheet A, then to copy the data in Cols B to P for that range back onto sheet B (pasting in at D3)
VBA - Selecting The Last Cell In A Column With Data
Oct 6, 2008I am trying to write some VBA code to select a range in a column going down to the last item in the column.
So I want to write a macro that will copy cells B4 - B17 into cells A4 - A17 but am having trouble with the code that will select B4 - B17. When I use the usual code which is as follows:

it selects down to A75, and I know why this is but not how to fix it.
This is raw data extracted from a third-party system. It has an option to export to Excel, but where it appears to have blank cells Excel actually believes there is data in there.
So is a way to identify what data Excel thinks is in there and perhaps use this to be able to select the range I want?
Different extractions will need a different range moved over - however it will always start at B4 and go down to B-whatever.

Selecting Range When Autofilter Returns Only One Row Of Data
May 15, 2013I am using the following code to re-name filtered data in column 4 of my worksheet, but I am running into an issue when the Autofilter returns only one row of data. The End(xlDown) is selecting a range that extends to the last row of the worksheet (1,048,576).

How can I write the code so that in the event there is only one row of data, it selects just that row for the paste (and yes it would be redundant to paste over the same value) and then continues on? I would usually use a Cells(Rows.Count, x).End(xlUp).Row to find the last row of data, but I don't think that will work in Autofilter mode.

Feb 3, 2010I have a dropdown box to choose a category.
When the category is chosen it displays the relevant course names which corresponds to that category (this could be 1 course up to 10 different courses).
Along with that course name it gives the relevant course overview.
This works exactly how i want it to. (thanks to Zbor from a previous thread)
I now want to expand further and give the corresponding course objectives for each course that shows up in the results.
I have attached a workbook as its much easier to see the dropdown box working.
Sheet 2 is the working sheet and sheet 1 will contain all the source data.
I have highlighted the columns affected in Blue Blue column on sheet 1 will have the course objectives on the same line as the course they belong to Blue column on sheet 2 is where they will be displayed when the correct category selection is made.
The course objectives are unique to the course title and course overview.
Auto-Populate Column Data From Source Sheet After Selecting From Dropdown List
Jan 11, 2013I'm trying to make a spreadsheet that can be used to easily build a collective list of steps, for a user to read and follow line-by-line.
I want a source sheet of "steps" that I can change over time, and the resulting tabs that reference the source sheet get updated/populated automatically.
I've pieced together some VBA code from other sources, which kind of does what I want it to:

But there are some problems:
1) The data auto-populates into a row. It would read better if each step was in the same column, meaning rows would need to be automatically added upon selecting something from the drop-down list. The number of rows that need to be added vary based on the number of steps in the source sheet, for the selection made from the drop-down list.
2) If you make a change to the source sheet, my goal is to have the other sheets referencing the source sheet's lists of steps update automatically, so you only need to update the steps in one spot and everything you've built from them gets updated instantly. Currently, you must select a different choice from the drop-down list, and then change it back, before it populates the "new" steps from the source sheet.
This is my first time using VBA.

Oct 12, 2011I have a dropdown list in C24:C50 (=CategoryList) with data validation and a sub list in D24:D50 (=ItemList) with data validation. I am looking for a way to have code automatically run after selecting an item in the data validation dropdown list in column C.
Example; I click on C24 and make a selection. I what it to trigger code that would move me to D24 and open up the data validation list in D24. After the selection in D24 I would like it to move me back and down 1 row to C25. I have not found anything directly related to this but I have found that code can be run after a selection in a valadition list.

Jun 3, 2009Hi, I'm very new to writing Excel Macro's and wanted to know if I could do the following. Conceptually, I understand what I need done and think it should be fairly straightforward.
There's 2 main events in this loop (I hope that's the correct terminology):
Input 1) User defines the beginning cell to start the loop. In this case, A2.
Input 2) User defines the range of columns/rows to display. The formula for rows that I've thought of is 4r. So if a user wants 20 rows below cells A2, they simply input 5 for r. The number of columns is a constant 5. So if r=5, then I'd want the range to be A2:E22......
Named List: Data Validation To Restrict The User To Only Selecting Values In A List
Jun 15, 2007I'm trying to use data validation to restrict the user to only selecting values in a list which I create. Right now, the list is a named range. I'd like to get rid of the range and just use a named list. I create a name using the following as my list.
Insert > Name > Create
Name: Fruit
Refers to:
banana,apple,orange
When I try to use the name Fruit in my data validation, I get the message "The List Source must be a delimited list, or a reference to single row or column." I thought my name "fruit" was a delimited list.
Function To Sort A Range By The Values In A Specific Column And Return The Range
Mar 25, 2009I was just recently forced to create my first UDF and after how well it worked I now am very interested in learning more. I am trying to create a function to sort a range by the values in a specific column and return the range. I know this should be really simple but for some reason my code dies whenever it gets to my inner-most loop. I need to use this in a larger function but for now this is my only question. I did find that Excel 2007 has built in Functions for this but my company still uses 2003.

Selecting Data From A Date Range Based On The Current Date
Jun 20, 2013I created a basic excel weekly budget and would like to know how much money I have as of todays date. on the top row I have a date range from Sunday to Saturday, so it looks like this:
09-15 16-22 23-29
with the month manually put in above it.
then below I have income and expenses with a Overall below that, so basically what I want to is see the Overall value based on todays date, not sure how to do this with the weekly range and automatic current date(which is =TODAY() as far as I know) I have attached a photo as a reference.

Copy/Paste Range(s) Without Activating/selecting Range(s)
Oct 2, 2008To initialize some cells/ranges, I am copying a given range and pasting it to another given range using the. Copy and .PaseSpecial methods. However, it would seem that both methods actually select the range(s) for the operations, i.e. the given ranges(s) are activated/selected thus changing the focus on the spreadsheet. I would like to perform both operations without actually selecting the given ranges.

May 19, 2006In the attached file, details sheet contains multiple instances of project with associated costs for each of 2006, 2007 and 2008. What I need is a formula (preferably) or a VBA that select distinct project names and populate column B of summary sheet so I can do a sum if. The problem is the project names changes dynamically every week and they are practically in hundreds.
