Specific Criteria Filtering To New Worksheet
Apr 1, 2013
I am creating a workbook with multiple worksheets. When row H on the first worksheet matches certain criteria, I want the whole row that this specific cell is in to copy to a separate worksheet of the same workbook in excel so that a list of these rows automatically compiles. How do I do this?

All of the strings are in one column and are in General format. They contain a few different types of strings: some only numbers, some numbers separated by commas (which makes them NOT numbers according to ISNUMBER), some text only, some text and numbers (separated by comma), some are 3 numbers, each separated by comma, etc.
ldJBlt9.jpg
What I'm looking to do:I want each of these distinct types filtered out someway. I've already done ISNUMBER to filter out the values which are numbers only, no commas. Perfect.
For the next step, I'd like to filter out cells which have only numbers and commas. The comma itself makes them considered not numbers, so how do I add the condition that I'm looking for cells with digits and a comma? A wildcard?
Edit: I've found the following formula which can check if it contains a comma, but doesn't specify between digits or text. Just commas. =IF(ISNUMBER(FIND(",",A1)),"TRUE","FALSE")

I have a column that contains combined data of numbers and letters. I want to filter that column to exclude cells that contain the letter "d" or "f". I am trying to create a pivot table from the results of the filter to only display the ID #s that do not contain the letters "f" or "d".
The data inside the fields is not the same length and is not listed in a particular order. I have over 14,000 records I need to filter.
Data set example: The items in red are an example of the cells I would like to exclude from my worksheet. Is there a way to filter without deleting the data?

Column A
Row1 Orange-Apple-Pear
Row2 Orange-Grapes-Melon
Row3 Berry-Apple-Melon
Row4 Banana-Grapes-Melon
Row5 Orange-Grapes-Banana
Given the information above:
I want to find a macro that will auto filter on for example
"Banana" would filter to rows 4,5
"Orange" would filter to rows 1,2,5
"Apple" would filter to rows 1,3

I am trying to create a Pivot Table that filters on a range of data.
I have a sheet with lots of data on it, and separate sheet where I have created my Pivot Table and my list I wish to use as the filter values.
I need to extract 630 specific Departments out of thousands and report the movements against those depts. The 630 will change as time goes on and I want to just have a range where I can update the values as and when changes occur. I initially tried using Filter on Department but realized this was going to be a very long winded process.

I have a data set in Excel that starts with row 13 and has 26 columns. The headers are in row 12.
A pop-up user form requires the user to select from a drop down menu i.e Top50, Top100, Top200...
Once this is selected, the script below applies a filter to the header row & filters Column O based on the Topxxx chosen in the user form.
The script then selects the visible cells in selected columns from the data set and copies these to another sheet.
The only thing that changes is the filter criteria i.e the user-defined choice of Topxxx from the user form.
Obviously I would like to try and avoid having to copy copious lines of coding for each filter criteria i.e Top50, Top100 etc etc.
Code:
If UserForm1.ComboBox2 = "Top50" Then
Sheets("MD14").Activate
A9 = ActiveSheet.Range("A9").Value 'Counta
ActiveSheet.Range("A12:Z12").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
[Code] ........

I have a workbook that has the main user interface on sheet3 and the main database i'm trying to filter on sheet2. Sheet3 has the button that executes the code to open the worksheet with the database and filter based on certain criteria and will filter unique id if a numeric value is entered and surname if text is entered.
Originally this worked ok when i had the button and the' rcrit' cell reference on the same worksheet as the database i'm trying to filter, but i decided to move them to the interface page as it was interfering with other things i'm trying to do.
Ever since then i can't seem to edit it to make it work from the other page! I've tried changing the filter ranges to reflect the new set up, but it seems to no longer be able to recognise numeric/none numeric values.
here's the code I'm using.
VB:
Sub filter()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim rCrit1 As Range

There are 3 types of customers: A, B, and C. For different types of customers, there are different information needed to be filled in. For example, A customer need to fill in question 1,2,3 & 4 ; for B needs 1,2,3,4 &5; for C needs 1,2,3,4,5&6.
How can i:
1) create an advanced filter for selecting different types of customers
2) after selecting the customer type, the spreadsheet automatically generates the right questions?

One sheet will be where someone will be able to select the filtering criteria from a drop down box (ie. Industry, Company, Location, etc) then click an execute button.
Then the macro will go to the second sheet where all the data is, filter the data and create a new spreadsheet with the selected data.
I have been able to create a filtering macro on the data sheet but have not been able to place the macro on the first sheet and have the macro run correctly. I have attached the file.

I have a database with 10 properties of a certain kind of material #.
IE: Material 1206 is Black, SG is 1.2, Duro is 70, Cure, tensile, price, etc.
I want a user to select 5 criteria from a drop-down list and have the 6th drop-down box populate available materials that meet the previous 5 criteria. I am trying to do this automatically and avoid user trying to autofilter (have to make it easy). I've extended the database out to show either a "0" or "1" if the 5 criteria match, but I can not get them into a drop-down list with a formula due to a #REF! error. I am not sure where the circular reference is coming from or what I have to do to change it.

I am using the following piece of code to 'link' a value from a cell in one workbook into another.
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 ="='[filepath]Front Sheet FIT'!r7c4"
However, i have come across a cell which displays the result of a reference to another cell (something simple like =b32). Normally I would just link to b32, however, the macro has to be applied to a large number of documents and in some cases text has been specifically entered, while in others the reference has been used. Is there any way of using VBA to display either the result of a formula (if there is one) or text if this is the case?

I am fairly new to macros and I am currently working on a project where I would like to create a 2 buttons which will filter by date and by owner. The spread sheet I have is fairly large and is added to weekly.
I have two objectives that I am trying to reach:
First I need to filter for all past due task items from the Thursday of the week I am working in back and for a specific person (owner) by the finish date
Second I need to filter for upcoming tasks one week out for a specific person (owner). The objective of this is so that on any given day a user can find any upcoming tasks that are due one week out.
If this is not an option. My thought was to create an input box where the user can input the date and the information on the spread sheet will pull all past due items or upcoming tasks. These two items need to pull seperatly not together.
I know I can create a macro by autofiltering by columns however I am trying to avoid having to go in and change the date each week.
Start date is column E
Finish date is column F
Owner is column L

Is there is some way to filter based on the value in a specific subcolumn.
Using the example of a list of salespeople and their transactions over the year, who sell multiple products, the PT is Sales Person name for the Row Labels, and Type of Product for the columns. The resulting PT has 3 columns, for each of the products - e.g. table, chair couch, and the Values are the total number of that item sold. Is there any way I can filter, so that I will see only those sales people who have sold 3 tables or more lets say. (Thus enabling me to quickly see what other products those sales people have sold.)
(The actual situation is a lot more data heavy than that - it is actually a list of donations for a non-profit, coming in from hundreds of people, across a dozen different categories; I am trying to analyse the extent to which people who gave for a particular category (Direct Mail solicitation) also gave across other categories.
So far I've manipulated things by inserting a '% of row total' value into the PT and then using countif/sumif functions outside of the PT to figure out how many people donated solely to this category (= 100% of row total), and how many donated to other categories too (= more than 0% of row total, less than 100%), which gives me a decent summary of sole donations to this cause vs other categories too, but doesn't visualise what the actual other categories donated to were. I've also investigated making a PT of the existing PT, but I'm not sure if that's even possible...)
(I'm using Excel 2011 for Mac, but if there's some other version that would make this possible, I may be able to use another computer.)

How to highlight, filter, or otherwise in someway mark all records on a spreadsheet that do not appear on another spreadsheet?
On Worksheet1, I have columns of data for First, Middle, Last, Clock Number, Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Zip Code and Employment Status. On Worksheets 1 and 2, the data and columns are 100% identical, except Worksheet1 has names I want excluded from a database import process I'll be running on the 2nd worksheet.
Is there an easy way or a quick VBA script that would allow me to highlight or filter out of Worksheet1 any rows that are not in 2?

I want to have a filter on a second worksheet wherein I can type the date and it will filter all amounts for that date.

Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("E7:E65536").AdvancedFilter _
Action:=xlFilterCopy, _
CopyToRange:=Worksheets("Sheet4").Range("B3"), _

I'm looking to use the value from a series of dropdowns (made via data validation lists).
Cell AM5 is a dropdown of named ranges made form a seperate sheet
Cell AO5 is a dropdown that uses '=INDIRECT(AM5) to lookup the values in the named range.
I need cell AO5's value to be used to filter rows in the current worksheet. The current problem is when i use the first dropdown in AM5 it still displays the last value, untill i use the dropdown to select a new one. This value typically will not be found and i do not want my code to execute in these cases.

how to find a certain criteria and delete the entire row that the criteria is in. I am more interested in finding certain criteria with vba, in my case any text/non numerical values and clear contents from that cell for the entire worksheet while retaining the rest of the cells that have numerical values in them. My data has --- in cells that represents missing data which would be easier if it was completely blank.

Background: I am HR manager for a construction company & keeper of the call-in list of personnel who are looking for work. I have a simple sheet that has columns:
Date Name Craft Experience ...more info...
If each call-in had only one craft, wouldn't have a problem. Those who are multicrafted ar listed e.g. "EL, MW, BM" In the column C. A caller two days later may be listed as "MW, BM, EL" We input the data as they say it since that is usually their order of expertise. (Yes, I know that it should have been set up with each craft having its own column, but I inherited the sheet & it has 4000+ entries)
I wrote a couple of small macros & assigned buttons on the sheet to allow the users to sort the sheet by date, or name, or craft. My customers (project managers) have requested to be able to sort by craft but have all the folks with any specific craft listed together.
Example (Excel 2003): ..

This is my question -- Can I put a button or some type of one touch command were I can take those autofilters off and return the worksheet backs to its original state before I autofiltered?
