Excel 2011 :: Pivot Table Filtering On Values In Specific Subcolumn
Jul 19, 2013
Is there is some way to filter based on the value in a specific subcolumn.
Using the example of a list of salespeople and their transactions over the year, who sell multiple products, the PT is Sales Person name for the Row Labels, and Type of Product for the columns. The resulting PT has 3 columns, for each of the products - e.g. table, chair couch, and the Values are the total number of that item sold. Is there any way I can filter, so that I will see only those sales people who have sold 3 tables or more lets say. (Thus enabling me to quickly see what other products those sales people have sold.)
(The actual situation is a lot more data heavy than that - it is actually a list of donations for a non-profit, coming in from hundreds of people, across a dozen different categories; I am trying to analyse the extent to which people who gave for a particular category (Direct Mail solicitation) also gave across other categories.
So far I've manipulated things by inserting a '% of row total' value into the PT and then using countif/sumif functions outside of the PT to figure out how many people donated solely to this category (= 100% of row total), and how many donated to other categories too (= more than 0% of row total, less than 100%), which gives me a decent summary of sole donations to this cause vs other categories too, but doesn't visualise what the actual other categories donated to were. I've also investigated making a PT of the existing PT, but I'm not sure if that's even possible...)
(I'm using Excel 2011 for Mac, but if there's some other version that would make this possible, I may be able to use another computer.)

I have a pivot table which has a report filter. The report filter can have anywhere from 20 to 350 values. The user will be able to select multiple values from the listing to produce the table as needed. I would like to be able to display what values were selected in the report filter so that the user can see this information once the pivot table is rendered. Is there any way to display this information either above below or along side of the table itself?
I am using Excel 2011 for Mac, but I also have access to Excel 2011 for Windows. Either way will work. I have been able to get quite a bit of what works on Windows to work with the Mac.

I'm on Mac using Excel 2011. This means I don't have "slicers", which is all my Googling kept turning up.
I have a pivot table with 4 different value columns, and I want to be able to filter it the same way you would a normal table - i.e. remove everything below a specific number in one column, and filter for only specific strings in another column, etc.

I am trying to create a Pivot Table that filters on a range of data.
I have a sheet with lots of data on it, and separate sheet where I have created my Pivot Table and my list I wish to use as the filter values.
I need to extract 630 specific Departments out of thousands and report the movements against those depts. The 630 will change as time goes on and I want to just have a range where I can update the values as and when changes occur. I initially tried using Filter on Department but realized this was going to be a very long winded process.

Named my data range using this formula:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$1,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$A:$A),COUNTA(Sheet1!$1:$1))
I was hoping that my pivot table would refresh with the new data that I added on sheet 1 but it is not working and yes I have refreshed my pivot table. The new data is not capturing.
Is this the correct formula for Mac Excel 2011?

I have looked and experimented on how to include multiple ranges on a pivot table in excel 2011, i have found how to to it with the wizard but i can not find the wizard.
How to separate the ranges in the selection box? They are going to be going across sheet is that makes any difference.

I am currently using the following code below in the macros for filtering out a certain set of activities in fields LVL to be "0"
VB:
Dim PI As PivotItem
With ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Lvl")
.PivotItems("0").Visible = True
[Code]....
I now wish to filter lvl activities with pivot items " 0" and "1" as well.

I have a pivot table in 2010- is there a way to filter the data using an external reference from the pivot table? I'd like to put the value in another cell and have the pivot update automatically when I type a new value in that cell.

Using Excel 2007 I have a pivot table that counts that number of incidents based on month and year. To get the month and year I group the date field as months and years.
My problem is if I want to filter specfic months in say year 2012 it also takes out the month in 2013. I though it used to give you the option of year and date in the filter but mines are 2 seperate filters.

I am using a pivot table in excel 2010. 15 columns (fixed) and plenty of dive downs for rows.
I am trying to 'hide' all of the rows containing values less than 10. If it is easier we can start with hiding values of zero and go from there.
It is key to hide the rows as within the dive downs the rows within the pivot are to many to sort through. If there is a way to do this using the grand total columns for each row that would work as well. Just to be clear I need to hide the entire row not just report the empty cells as zeros. If any further detail is needed feel free to ask.
For example: If value of column O "Grand Total" = 0 'hide rows with value 0' ELSE 'display rows with value greater than 0'

I have a Pivot Table (pivottable1) starting from cell A1 (lets asume that this cell is "Pick up date"). What I want to do is to filter by each "Pick up date" one by one - for example by first date 2014-05-30 than do some stuff (I have this part of code so no worries) and after that pass to next Pick up date do the same stuff pass to the third pick up date and etc. The problem is that the number of Pick up dates can be different - sometimes it could be 10 pick up dates and another time it could be 150 of pick up dates. I suppose it should be some kind of loop but I have no idea how to start this.

I have a pivot table with a group # on the left, and team members on the right. There are multiple team members in each group, and each are on a separate line in the pivot table, like this:
Group #Team1chrisdawnsally2cassiechrisdawnkathysally3jimjoejohntomGrand Total
I need to find where "sally" is on the team (easy to do"), BUT I need to display the rest of the team members in the group with her, like this:
Group #Team1Sally, Chris, Dawn2Cassie, Kathy, Sally, Dawn, ChrisGrand Total
Using the concatanate function to put them all into one cell and then filtering for "contains" was all I could come up with, but there are 14,000 groups

I'm working on pivot tables using excel macro. Basically , I need to filter out the year submitted according to the current year . I did this to filter out my pivot :
For Each PivItem In _
PT.PivotFields("Year Submitted").PivotItems
PivItem.Visible = True
Next PivItem
For Each PivItem In _
PT.PivotFields("Year Submitted").PivotItems
Select Case PivItem.Name
Case "2012"
[code]....
But this can only filter out year 2012 . I need to use this workbook for the next couple of years and I dont want to keep modifying the codes .

right now, formula is simple as follows
Code:
Sheets("Shift Premium").Select
ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable3").PivotFields("DT_REPORT_DATE"). _
ClearAllFilters
ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable3").PivotFields("DT_REPORT_DATE"). _
CurrentPage = myDate
The idea is that the pivot table always displays yesterdays data.
However, there may not be any data for that day, so when i tell the macro to filter for it, I get an error.
My question is, how could I formulate some sort of iferror statement so that if yesterdays date isnt in the filter list, then it does nothing (by default leaving the filter on last populated date)?

In Excel 2007 is it possible to filter the "Values" in a Pivot Table?
I am tracking the Gross weight of shipping containers. My table sums the weight of all items in a container by container number. So my rows are 9 digit container numbers and my data values is a Sum of part weights. I want to be able to filter out containers above a certain weight.
for example:
Row Labels Sum of Gross Wt. - Lbs
10003150588929
10003153258700
10003155984958
1000315651530
10003156549761
I know I can simply copy and paste into a new tab and sort it there, but I'd like to be able to do it internal to the pivot table if that is possible.

I have a Pivot Table with pivot fields and data. I would like, through VBA, to get the list of values that can be chosen from a given pivot field.
For example, a list would be Product1 / Product2 / Product3 .... I would like to read that list and put it into a drop down list in a form.
GOAL: I have several Pivot tables on the same sheet with similar fields and I want through macro to allow the user to update them all with one click.

I have some nominal data that I'd like to get into a pivot table (Excel 2013). For simplicity let's say it's a one-question survey with 6 respondents:
Q1: Dogs are better than Cats
Strongly Agree
Agree
Neither Agree or Disagree
Disagree
Strongly Disagree
Responses:
Agree
Strongly Agree
Strongly Agree
Strongly Agree
Agree
Strongly Agree
I can create a pivot table with this data and get the following:
Row Labels
Count of Q1
Strongly Agree
4
Agree
2
Grand Total
6
This all works nicely, however I require that the other options ("Neither Agree or Disagree", "Disagree", and "Strongly Disagree") be present, even if their values are 0, like the following:
Row Labels
Count of Q1
Strongly Agree
4
Agree
2
Neither Agree or Disagree
0
Disagree
0
Strongly Disagree
0
Grand Total
6
What I tried doing was adding a new column and calling it something like Ratings with the following:
Ratings
Strongly Agree
Agree
Neither Agree or Disagree
Disagree
Strongly Disagree
Then I set the Ratings column in the "Rows" section of the pivot table and the Count of Q1 column in the Values section. This is what happened:
Row Labels
Count of Q1
Strongly Agree
1
Agree
1
Neither Agree or Disagree
1
Disagree
1
Strongly Disagree
1
Grand Total
6

What I need to get in a pivot table is: two columns or rows (Yes / No) and the unique count of the code.In this case is should show Yes: 2 and No: 3

I am trying to have duplicates and their corresponding data appear in my pivot table. Assume I have a list of over 1000 stores. Let's say store 101 appears twice in my data file.
When I create my pivot, the 101 only appears once and the data is consolidated. Is there a way to ungroup/display duplicates?

I am working on a pivot table just like the one on the picture here [URL] .......
Ideally I wanted the sums by date to be displayed horizontally and not vertically as shown in the picture, but was unable to do so. Anyways, I want to be able to filter those dates, so I can display data just from an specific date, and then change this date whenever I want and the new data will show up.
I tried doing by the checkbox that appears under the "data" dropdown on top of the column; However, when I uncheck a specific date, it dissapears and I have to add it again if I want to see it. Is there a way to keep the values on the dropdown even after I uncheck them? Or even another way to filter the information? Below is the pic of the dropdown I get when trying to sort the data, But as I said If I uncheck one of the values, it dissapears from the list.

On a worksheet, I created:
- a list of data
- a pivottable based on these data
When moving this worksheet this worksheet to another workbook, the pivot table can't refresh anymore. This throws an error message "Reference is not valid". To work around this problem I need to adapt the datasource. The same occurs if the list and the pivot table are on separate sheet, with the added strange behaviour that, when data an PT are split, it is not possible to move both sheet together.
This would not be a big issue if my problem had to be solved manually. The real problem is that I need to move the sheets from a C# program.

I am using Excel 2011 on a mac. I have a selection of data that lists a repeating code (say group 1, group 2, group 3 etc)and a value (-1,-2.3,3,6 etc) and need to find a quick way group together all the codes and next to that a value that counts how many values who share the same code hold a value greater than -1? I can do this myself in a pivot chat with count totals but my issue is how I can show the number of codes greater than -1.
Attached is an example of the data I want to sort.

is there any way to NOT Displaying Items with No Data when filtering data in my pivot table?
For instance, I have 2 report filters: Category and Subcategory, when I select a category in the first filter I want to see only the options of subcategories with data in the second filter, I mean display only the subcategories of the Category previously filter.
Same scenario I have with a report with Directors and Organizations, when I filter one Director it would be nice to see only the organizations of this director and not all options on the data.

vba in excel 2013 pivot table that updates from an online CRM rows are a to h and it can be any number of rows. What I am trying to do is track progress. In column f values indicate probability for success 10 25 45 90, which can go up or down. The pivot table is refreshed to get the latest values from CRM. the update is handled by a connection to the crm not in the vba.
So far I been researching methods to conditionally format values that went up, down or remained the same since the last refresh with up down and across arrows. I have managed to piece together what I think should work but alas it is not. So I have come to you internet.
My code first clears any formatting and goes down the column avoiding null or empty cells, comparing the values in column f to values in column j.
I have 3 conditions greater than, less than or equal to, and would like add an icon for each based on the result of the comparison.
Finally when it finishes the column the code copies the current values in the pivot table column f to column j outside the pivot table which i hope to be able to hide once the cf works. The code is below

My macro is designed to look at a summary source tab and create a new tab for each unique project number. It then creates a pivot table from five different source detail tabs and filters on the project number. If a tab already exists it selects the tab and moves on to the next project number. There are six pivot tables created for every project.
New data is added each month to the source tabs and I have a macro to delete all pivot tables and the macro will recreate the pivot tables when ran again.
Issue: Running out of resources At work I'm limited to the use of Excel 2010 (32bit) so I'm restricted on 2GB of memory. At home I ran the file successfully (64bit) and it was around 3GB of memory.
My macro creates a new pivot cache for every pivot table where as I'm trying to only use 6 pivot caches in my coding. I kill it half way through and it's around 100+ caches causing unnecessary usage of memory.
Fix / Solution:
Correctly code the vba to only create six caches and code the rest the pivot tables to use that cache. The only difference in the Pivot Tables is that it’s sorted on the Project Number.
Code:
Dim VBAPPPC As PivotCache
Dim VBAAPPC As PivotCache
Dim VBAPRPC As PivotCache
Dim VBAEXPC As PivotCache
Dim VBAMJPC As PivotCache
Dim VBAIVPC As PivotCache
Dim VBAPT As PivotTable
[code]...
