Stock Market Data Analysis In Excel?

Below are the weekly closing prices for a stock market index. I'm looking to use conditional formatting to highlight in green "buy" signals and in red "sell" signals.
Buy Signal: If the index rises 4% above any previous low point.
Sell Signal: If the index falls 4% from any previous high point.

In the above example a Buy Signal is generated on 1/13/2014 because the market closes 4% above the low of 68.24 on 12/9/2013.

We are running Office 2010 part of Office Professional Plus 1010 (corporate install). We have added both the Analysis Toolpak and Analysis Toolpak - VBA to the add-Ins and have the button on the toolbar, however when we click on the button, we don't get the popup window allowing the user to pick the analysis tool they want to use. Have tried this on a number of PCs (we all run the same version) and it doesn't work on any of them.
What we have to do do make this toolpak work?

It is my general understanding that the change event system within Excel vba is fairly particular as to what will fit the mold of a qualifying change event.
For example, changes that the user imparts to the worksheet and other written code are legitament candidates for change events. However copying down data and cells changing their values indirectly rather than directly may not be considered in the Microsoft change event design.
I would like to know 2 things:
1) Does a cell updated by a market data feed mechanism qualify for a change event?
2) Any list of qualifying change event types. It seems that Microsoft does not have this information.

I need to plot various data on top of stock charts.
This data could be irregular in date: it could be weekly, or simply random.
To plot this data by itself requires a Scatter Chart.
From what I know so far, you CANNOT DO THIS.
However, I suspect this could be done if I build a Stock Chart from scratch using a Scatter Chart.
Error bars can be used to make the tails, however, I don't know how they built the body bar which has the characteristics of a bar (border, and interior.)
But since I don't really need those two characteristics, I just need a wider error bar line that is provided in the chart edit window. I'm guess through a macro, there are wider line widths assignable.

I have created a stock sheet on Sheet1, i have say 100 items and each item has a min and max stock order. Once the item hits a min low, the last cell (O) will display an order needs to be placed.
I was wondering if there way a way that on sheet2, it can calculate all the data on sheet1 and if there is stock that needs to be ordered, it will appear on sheet2?
This way i can just print sheet2 and send it to the supplier without having the entire 100 items displayed -if it does not need to be ordered?

I am fairly new to VBA / Excel programming. I have been trying to write a report out of excel from our company DB (SQL2005). The database is run by our frontend accounting application - so i cant mess with it at all, must only run queries.
I need to pull the last 24 months of stock sales data(by stock code or category) out of our DB into excel by counting transactions on Customer Invoices / credits. Into a table as follows..
Stock Code--Month1-Month2-Month3
ABC1----------43------33------19
ABC2-----------2------10------25
I have managed to make a script that fullfills this need but it takes about 15 minutes to run(Due to having to loop many times per item/ per month)....
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips / advice on different ways to do this..??? Ive had a quick look at Pivottables but havent gone very far in, maybe they are the answer, but this amateur does not know.

rows 1 and 2 are used for my parameters.
row 1 being used for descriptions: Ticker Symbol, Start Date, End Date, and pulling in the close price and volume for each ticker symbol with the selected date range. row 2 being used for entering the parameter info.
row 2 Would read (as an example)
MSFT, 1/1/2002, 1/1/2003, close price, volume.
For each ticker in column A, add a separate wksheet named the ticker symbol and pull in the corresponding info.
So the final result for MSFT, would be an added wksheet named MSFT, with the colums headers being the close and volume, and the rows being the date parameters set in row 2.
all using yahoo finance.

I need to create some trend analysis for Vehicle sales. I have attached a file with sample data.
There are few problems i am facing like description has all the vehicle details which are not in any particular order, even if some how i manage to separate these then too many variables are not letting me come to any conclusion for example make, model, mileage, year of registration color of vehicle, auction sold, sale price, cap (bench mark for pricing).
what i need to produce is which auction sells certain vehicles best or which color of certain model sells best.

setting up a stock ordering system in Excel. I have been sent a spreadsheet with about 400 items I've ordered before and about 15 columns of descriptions which include the name, category of item, manufacturer, cost, number etc.
I would like to set up a simple Excel spreadsheet which staff can use when they want to order some stock, which will automatically fill in the adjacent cells with the product category and unit cost, once the name has been typed into the first cell. Once I add the SUM formula I can therefore have an immediate total of how much each staff member is spending on stock that week, without having to look at the invoice I get back from the supplier.
I know Excel has a predictive text style feature (autocomplete?) but I don't know how to get it to automatically fill several cells in a row with data that is linked to the first cell.

I have been using MSNStockQuotes on a few computers without any problems for months.
Now (in the last day or so) , when I press "update Quotes" on any of the computers, I get a "Failed to get requested Data" message. I can often "trick" it into getting the quotes by deleting a bunch of the quotes, then choosing Edit-Undo, which then fetches the quotes properly, but even that fails some of the time (same displayed message).
This happens even with older copies of my spreadsheet that used to work perfectly.
Are others having problems with MSNStockQuotes Excel Plugin?

I'm using Excel 2010 for Mac.
Here's my problem: I need to keep two values subject to two upper limits (i.e: value 1 < x, value 2 < y).
These two values are equations that are dependant on 3 variables. The relationship between these variables are not linear (i.e.: can't just plot a graph and mark where the lines cross).
Is there any computational method using Excel I can use that will give me the LOWEST value for the three variables in order for my target values to be under their upper limits?

I am using the the stock chart and I would like there to be a horizontal line across the chart with a y-axis of the opening price. In the end I want this to be in VBA but how to do this manually I should be able to put it in loop of data that will produce many charts with a horizontal line starting at the day opening.
I have tried to add a new series to the chart but I'm using the Candle stick stock chart and the new series comes out as a vertical not horizontal line. I read about using a secondary horizontal axis but all the tutorials I find are in Excel 2003 and they donlt line up well with Excel 2007.
I found this link on charts with horizontal lines but again they are in 2003 and I'm using a candle stick stock chart not a scatter chart. [URL]

Currently I am using MS office 2000 premium. I would like to implement real-time stock prices (i.e. ticker MSFT) from the Nasdaq website (NASDAQ Stock Market - Stock Quotes - Stock Exchange News - NASDAQ.com) into a single cell, so that this cell shows the current stock price only.
By a click on the hyperlink symbol in the excel sheet I entered the following information... Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Real-Time Stock Quote - NASDAQ.com and clicked the OK button.
Instead of receiving the real-time stock price information directly into the single cell, a new window opens with the Nasdaq website and all kinds of information that is not needed.

I am trying to do some analysis on montly bank account data. To do this I need to take the bank statement information for the month and put it into a table that shows every day of the month (see attached example).

Data Analysis . I have 7 tables gathered in one spreadsheet but in seperate sheets. Tables have the same columns but different data baceause they come from different locations. Now I would like to create pivot table to combine data from all 7 tables. I read a little and I got to know that relationships is needed between the tables but I can't create it because I don't have unique data in the table. Usually tables consist repeating names, locations, some numerical data.
For example every table consists worker's name. I create pivot table from one of 7th starting from worker's name in row field and put some data in value field. Then I add another workers from another table. I can do it but when I put in row field I have workers from second table under those from first one. And of course data are badly calculated. I would like to have all workers in row field with proper data. It means one column with all workers from all 7 tables an then some their data
I know I can copy all of them into one big table and then create pivot table but this is solution what I wanted avoid. I know it will work but these data can change from time to time and it will be very hard to maintain spreadsheet. When data will change I will have to copy manually .Is there any solution to create such a pivot table from multiple tables sources but with the same column structures?

For my thesis I collected data of football players. I have the data in an excel file, but it is unstructured. Due to the nature of the dataset, I don't want to sort it out by hand. The result should be that the dataset is ready for statistical analysis. I have three categories, namely; Player_Performance, Player_Profile and Transfer_History. I will discuss them now.
Player Performance
In this excel file the performance data of the player is gathered. As you can see, the player ID and the player name are a row above the performance data in different competitions. This data should be on the same row. Player ID, Name and then the performance data. How can I achieve this?
Player Profile
The player profile file is the easiest. I want to delete the double information. Some players are 2 times in the file. I want to delete every row which doesn't start with a player id. I also want to remove player id's which arent followed by player information.
Transfer History
The transfer history is the same as player performance. In the first row you will find the player id and name, and beneath are the different transfers. I want to put every transfer in a row of their own. The row should start with player id, then name and then the transfer. So it is possible that one player id will be on more rows.
In the attachment I put the files as they are and three files of how it should look like.

I need to extract for each individual dive: Onset/start of dive (when the whale has completed its surface interval and begins its descent)
Rate of Descent (meters/second)
Onset/start of bottom phase (the whale has stopped descended and begins the "foraging" phase of the dive...not necessary the deepest point reached)
Number of lunges (you can see these if you plot the data. They are lunges at depth indicative of feeding behavior)
End of bottom phase (begins to ascend)
Rate of Ascent
End of Dive (surface intervals begins)
I've attached a brief sampling of the data in case you're curious.
Over the years I have identified these points through visual inspection of Excel charts. It's very easy, but extremely tedious and not at all efficient. I am interested in expediting this whole process and am more than willing to learn programming (i.e. visual basic or the like)...but only IF it is the best approach for this application.
I have attached two dives worth of data, so we can see what the data looks like. Each data set can contain from 1 to 8 hours worth of data.

I have student demographic data, then I have to track how each student did on each question, but each question also corresponds to a reading standard and I need to pull two pieces of info from that. How they scored on the assessment (# of answers correct), and if they missed a certain standard twice or more (There are 4 instances of StandardA in the test and they had wrong answers on 2 or more of them). I have the solution to the first part. I entered the results of each question as a 1 for correct and 2 for incorrect then did a countif and only counted the 1s. I am stumped on getting an analysis of how each student did on the indicators. Since the indicators can occur more than once, generating a pviot table doesn't work in this instance, it'll count of 1s and 2s for StandardA, StandardA2, StandardA3, etc. and not the counts of 1s and 2 for all instances of StandardA.

For student Bob - Number of times he answered incorrectly StandardA, StandardB, StandardC, StandardD, etc.............

the sheet is very long and monitors the sales activities of each individual every day extending vertically down the sheet until the present day.
my first priority was to get the information recorded but now i am wanting to use it.
how would an expert arrange this data to make analysis easier going forward?
ultimately i will be wanting to look at individuals, groups of individuals, certain types of activity etc within various time periods.

I'm working on getting company data from yahoo into excel. I can do this manually going to Data > From web etc using site: [URL] ... for example then just import from there.

This works fine. But i want to be able to manually select the stock code, start month, date and year and end month, date and year through excel (this is already setup easy) and have this update the URL that is pasted into here: [URL] ....
In cell A1 i have used this formula: [URL] ......
This spits out something like this: [URL] .....
That will automatically update the correct URL name to enter into the correct section of the macro. But here's where i hit a snag I've tried:

But it doesn't like the =Range("A1") bit. Once i solve how to get this URL into the connection web-search space then i can control what my macro searches for. What do i have to do to the

I have stock data values being updated on my sheet every 10 seconds in one Cell (E5).
I am looking to indicate a change in that cell value by changing cell color (or could be any easily programmable indicator). I want to change the cell color on first change of value but not subsequent refreshes. Stock data is numeric in string form. colors used not important as long as there is a visible change.
I Have tried playing with sheet change events but no progress as data is not manually entered.
