Summing Hours Based On Matching Names

I have an excel sheet which displays the data in the following format:
(See image attachment). This is just an example of the way the master list is formatted. The master list has over 18,000 lines. Basically, there's a project name, resource name, and number of hours worked for the project within that work week. I've been trying to figure out a way to create a formula or macro to search all these names and add up the hours of the duplicates.

I need excel to search this list of names and total up all hours for each matching name and place each total value on another sheet. For example, Ken Craver has 8 occurances within the week of 1/21/2007 (from project 1 and 25) and his total hours = 31. So the value 31 should be calculated because all the hours associated with Ken Craver add up to 31. Then excel should scan another sheet which has a list of resource names and once it has found the matching name on the other sheet, it will place the value 31 in the column next to the name.

Filter And Sort Data Based On Names And Hours

I just want to filter and sort the data based on names and hours.

Here it goes:

1. Filter Column F.
2. Filter it by: UK & M UK
3. After that, filter Column E in "Ascending order"
4. Count the data that are:

-starts 1:01AM - 7:59AM and display the total count in Sheet2, if there are no data in other specific time, then display a value "0"

For example for UK and M UK:

In Sheet 2, ("F5") = 3 as there are 3 data, G5=1, H5=0 and so on and so forth..

Summing Values For Past 24 Hours

Several times per day, I have an excursion of a value over a specified limit. The excursions are measured in seconds. I am interested in a way to sum the number of seconds accumulated in a rolling 24 hour period. Is there an easy way to do this?

Example:

Time One 20 seconds
Time Two 35 seconds
Time Three 82 seconds
etc.

If time one and time two are within 24 hours of each other, the sum I would want is 55. This is in Excel 2007. a portion of the data is attached.

Matching Categories And Summing

The ones we need to focus on are Columns A,C, H, and AG. Daily this sheet ‘Raw’ will be filtered and data sent to sheets 100,200,300.

In the Raw sheet we have many rows of data, but when this is transferred to the other sheets we will only see one row of data in each sheet.

1. The Date from Cell(C2) should be copied to Cell ‘A3 or next empty cell on column A’ on all 3 sheets(100,200,300)

2.In Column A there are 3 accounts – 101,201,301
If Column A value = 101 then send the corresponding Column H (P&L) value to Sheet”100”, If Column A =201 then send to sheet ‘200’, If 301 then to sheet ‘300’

Now that’s not quite what I need, the Column H values in some cases have to be added up – by category. You can see this on sheets 100 – 300. Columns B to K on Sheet(100) have the different categories of products. What I want is a code that would go through Column AG in Sheet(Raw) match the category name to the category name in the Range(B2:K2) and copy the P&L figure (Column H value in ‘Raw’) there.

e.g. I need all the rows pertaining to account 101 with the same label ‘Interest Rate’ to have the P&L (Column H) added up. So I would get the value 188760 in Sheet ‘100’ Cell D3. (I just added H2,H3,H12,H13) ...

MATCHING Multiple Values And SUMMING?

We have a table that records payment dates and amounts ... and it categorizes how the payment was made. See attached file to understand the process.

Column A records the payment date. Two or more payments can be recorded for the same date!!!

Column B records the amount of payment.

Column C records the method of payment (OL or LB or CC or CK).

Here's what we need:

On a given date (cell J4), we need to match any dates in Col A ... and we need to SUM all payments that match that date .... and the SUM needs to be based upon the method of payment (OL or LB ...) and values stored respectively in E4,F4,G4,H4 (or left blank if no date match).

Count Hours Between 2 Times Based On Hours In Another Cell

A1 is 10 (10 hrs worked) , A2 is 10:30am (in time), A3 is 9:00pm (out time), A4 needs to be the total hours and minutes between A2 and A3 based on the hours listed in A-1. What i need is a formula that will calculate the hours and minutes between the 2 times based on hours entered in A1 but that will also compensate for a manadatory 30 minute lunch that needs to be deducted from the total hours if hrs listed in A1 are more than 6.

example: worked 10HRS, 10:30am to 9:00pm, Total hrs is 10hrs 30min, which should be just 10 since the lunch is a none work time and must be subtracted.

If a person worked more than 6hrs, they must take a lunch. if they worked less, than 6 then they don't have to. I need a calcuation to recognize the greater than, less than factor into the equasion also.

Matching Names From Different Columns

I have two columns listing about 400 and 500 names respectively.

First Column has names in alphabetical order and the second column is random.

One column has names in this format: Last name, First name and the other column lists the names as first name and then last name without the comma .

I am trying to see if the list of names in one column exists in the other.

Is there a way to see this without changing the format of the names in each column? If so do I have to erase the comma?

Matching Names In Different Formats

I have 2 reports that I want to merge which are exported from different applications. The problem is that the names appear in a different format and I can't work out how to match them up. The fact that not everyone appears on every report I have solved by using lookup as in the attached workbook. What I need to do is use a formula that will recognise the two different name formats and match them up. i.e. Campion, Ben P. and Ben Campion. See attachment.

Matching Names With Numbers (total)

In Cell A1 I have a name (John Doe). In cell A2 I want the formula which will be a number total. In Cells A4:A20 I have a list of names with John being in several of them. In Cells J4:J20 I have numbers. There is data in between the name and numbers that I don't need.

So, I want A2 to search A4:A20 and everytime it sees John Doe to add the numbers that are 9 cells over (J4:J20). This is basically to show how many mistakes John has made (total). I tried =Sumproduct((A4:A20=A1), (J4:J20,1,0)). I know I am missing something or not on the right track.

I have a worksheet that has a compilation of reports, each of which has multiple columns that aren't necessarily organized in an Excel-friendly way. However, the first column contains a list of "name" headings (titled "Name") and the second adjacent column always lists the actual name right beside it. Similarly, each person has a value heading in the first column (titled "The Value") and the actual value in the second column. What I would like to be able to do is have Excel search for the Name heading, paste the value in the adjacent column (the actual name) in a cell in a new worksheet, then search for "The Value" and do the same thing in the column adjacent to the one where the actual name was copied. The catch is I need Excel to do this and then search again for "Name", skip it, and start again with the first part of the procedure until all names and their associated values are matched. how to do something like this in VBA?

Matching Names Then Delivering Value In Another Cell

I'm working on a project that has 2 sheets. the 2nd sheet has the raw data and the first sheet will be the sorted data.

To deliver the raw data on sheet 2 to sheet 1, I need the different names on sheet 1 to match to its corrosponding name on sheet 2 then deliver the value in another cell. I don't need the zero values but on some occosions the zeros and numerical values will be switched so i will need a formula that will deliver the numerical value to sheet 1 after it checks which cell contains the numerical value between columns B and C. there will always be a zero and a numerical value in either column B or C for each.

It will look like this. (assume 3 rows A, B and C and each value and name is in its own cell).

Matching Names On Different Worksheets With Function To Add Abbreviations

writing a macro script. I want to find matching names on two diffferent worksheets. More specifically I need the ability to match if I apply a abbreviation(s) to worksheet one in order to get matches in worksheet two.

e.g Company = Co. or
Insurance = Ins

Please see my attached excel document for an example.

I have over 27000 lines so doing this manually will take forever!

Ideally I would like this to be a macro script that I can edit to add as many different abbreviations as required. The attached document will make my task a lot clear.

Unfortunately I don't have any starting code as I am not an excel/visual basic programmer, But i hope somebody will be able to help me out here.

The reason I need to do it this way is because I have been given a file from a partner company that uses different abbreviations to the ones we use in my company. I want to see if the companies in the list I have been given already exist in out company database, therefore we need a suitable matching procedure.

Making List Of Names Under Matching Day Of Week

I have a list that looks sort of like this:

Last Name | First Name | Date | Service Day

etc..

This list goes on down for like 50 cells. Anyway, I'd like to make a new list based on Service Day so that I can organize the names under the service day so it should look something like this:

Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | etc..
Smith, John..............................Jones, Alex
etc...

I tried using the vlookup function but then it confused me when i also needed to match the names with their respective service days.

Matching Stock Portfolios With Differing Company Names

I'm trying to match stock portfolios of mutual funds with stock indexes to find out how much the portfolios deviates from the indexes (active share).

The deviation is simply calculated as the percentage of the portfolio holdings not included in the index.

The data I have is 10 years of monthly portfolio weightings for 30 mutual funds and 8 indexes, organized with company names in column A and the percentage weight for each company in each month in the adjacent rows (see simplified screenshot). I want to match all companies with all indexes.

Twofold:

1)The mutual fund data comes from one source and index data from another. This means company names are not spelled exactly the same.
2)Within the mutual fund datasets, a company might be listed more than once with different names. The different names refer to different periods in time, so what should be matched with the index is the sum of these columns.

The specific task that I need to accomplish is to match company name in the portfolio with the index and then return the absolute difference between weight in the portfolio and the weight in the index for each month. (see screenshot).

Hence the result I'm looking for is a matrix of company names (of each portfolio) in col A and the absolute difference between the portfolio and the index weight in the adjacent row.

The best solution I've come up with is to device a list of all the portfolio company names, including "doubles", and then for each index, add these company names and copy the row weightings. This I'm not particularly happy with because index weightings would no longer sum to 100 and it would be difficult to check for errors. Also, it would still take a lot of time.

Sort Matching Orders Into Groups And Add Product Names To Breaklines

How do I create a macro to sort rows into groups, add break rows in between & insert a product sourced from another excel workbook onto the break line?

I receive a spreadsheet each day with a series of requests, most of the information is the addresses & names etc with the important data in columns K,M & O. Data in each of these columns is a code that refers to a product and information sheet to be sent out to the person requesting it. They may want just one in which case data will only be in column K, if they want two there will also be data in M and if they require three there will be data in column O as well. The bit I do know is how to sort the important data into groups of the same by the country (column I) and the product sku's.

Whilst I can do the sort as a recorded macro I really need it to be part of a larger macro that does the following bit I can't get my head around. I need to insert a break row above each group then by cross referencing the data in the product sku columns to a separate workbook insert the appropriate item / letter combination onto the break line row, telling the volunteer which items to send out. This is a v look up?

I have attached an example of the files we work with, the first tab is with the data simply sorted and the second is what I need it to look like. I normally receive it as a CSV file, there are around 8000 possible combinations of product and instructions and the files are normally around 4000 records long. At present we insert the break lines and copy/paste the information manually, seriously slowing down the process.

Landscaping Company / Matching Units / Volume And Labor Hours To Hourly Labor Rate

For a landscaping company, who is looking to service gardens more effectively/efficiently, they are mirroring the below variables to the amount the client is willing to pay per hour. I also have a sample file.

I have, on Sheet1, 8 columns I'm working with:

R3:R132 is the currently hourly rate

L3:L132, M3:M132, N3:N132 are current units, volume, and labor hours respectively by location.

AD3:AD132, AE3:AE132, AF3:AF132 are new units, volume, and labor hours respectively by location.

AI3:AI132 is the suggested hourly rate by location. Note this is already calculated and filled in. I need to calculate new units, volume, and labor hours based on the suggested hourly rate.

On Sheet2, I have 4 columns I'm working with:

A2:A161, B2:B161, C2:C161, B2:B161 are hourly rates, units, volume, and labor hours respectively.

They are laid out in combination with one another to show possible combinations of these variables that make sense for the landscaping company.

My goal is to figure out what combination the company wants to go with for a given hourly rate on Sheet1 given the following logic to follow:

1) Attempt to reduce labor hours to get to suggested hourly rate - This is to calculate new labor hours on Sheet1 in cells AF3:AF132.

Separate Simple Hours / Holiday Hours And Night Hours

As you can see on the example i have TEST hours.xlsx, I have a file that calculate the money every doctor should take based on the working hours.

Nights, holidays and holiday night have different price/hour.

The excel is working fine…but now I have to make a formula that separates automatically based on the beginning time and the end time of the doctor’s shift the day hours tha night hours, the holiday hours and the holiday nights hours.
In the excel I have fill the hours Manuscript, I need a formula to do that for me…

On the yellow cell I have try to find out the formula for the holiday hours but because the day is calculated due to a formula it is not working!!!

Simple Example: A doctor Is working from 21:00- 8:00 (next morning Sunday) he should have 1 simple hour (21:00-22:00) 9 night hours (22:00-6:00) and 2 holiday hours (6:00-8:00,)

Matching Cell Formats Based On Matching Cell Values

I have a cell (A1) that contains text.
That text will match a single value in a reference list (i.e. range of cells e.g. Z1:Z26).
When the match occurs (e.g. A1 = Z16), I want the format of the reference cell (fill color, text color) to apply to the cell of interest (A1).
The reference cells are manually formatted.

I know that I could create a long list of conditional format formulas instead of using the reference, but it seems that there must be some way to tell excel: if the cell value contents are equivalent, the formatting should be as well.

Partially Summing Row Based On A Value Another Row

I have a sheet with ascending week-ending dates in the row at the top.

Next row is the man-hours worked for each week.

Next row is the # of First Aids for each week.

Not every week has a first aid and I want to sum the number of hours worked since (not including) the week of the the last First Aid.

There is a summary sheet which pulls the data from any selected week via a HLOOKUP function. So, I'm thinking I'll add a hidden row with the new "Hours since last FA" under the # of FAs row and insert the magical formula into each cell in that row.

The dilemma is I can't come up with a formula/function to calculate the "hours since" data.

Summing Based On Criteria

I am currently trying to reconfigure a dataset into something more managable for our regression needs. The issue I am having is trying to automate as much of the data transfer as possible. The data set is set up as follows (for example):

Yr Tag Value
0 2 #
1 2 #
2 3 #
3 3 #

0 1 #
1 1 #
2 1 #
3 1 #

etc. where tag is a special code we have developed based on the number 1, 2, 3, and 4

What I would like to do is develop a summing formula so in year 0 I can sum all the values if the tag is equal to 1 and then I would do that for the numbers 1 through 4 in my "compilation" worksheet.

Summing Based On Dates

I'm looking for a way to have a formula that adds to a number based on whether or not it's past a certain date.

So the starting number is in cell D1. A1:B4 contains dates and numbers to add to D on a certain date. In column F I want the formula to look at the date in column E and then make any additions to the number in D1 based on the date and the numbers from in columns A and B.

So as an example, 03/02/15 would be 90, since since we're adding 20 from 01/15/15 and 02/15/15.

Is there a formula that can help me sum up a total value for the Variable amounts? IE. Variable, Fixed, Step in column A; Dollar amounts in column B

Is there a formula that can recognize the word "Variable" in column A and then pull the number from the adjacent cell in column b?

Want to avoid having to Ctrl+click the hundreds of cells that I would have to in order to do a simple calc =sum(b1, b4, b7, b10) etc. if you know what i mean.

I have been trying to search an array and cannot find the correct combination of functions to get the information I want. I might need a macro to do this but I will try anything. Here is an example:

1 A 1
1 B 2
2 A 3
2 B 4

3 B 6

I want to search for 3 and A and return the value in the 3rd column. I have tried several functions but cant figure out how to make sure I get the correct value in the 2nd column that corresponds to the value in the 1st column.

Summing 1 Or 2 Columns Based On Criteria?

I'm making a spreadsheet that tracks instances when something goes above or below a threshold. Anytime it goes below, a column populates with the number 1, and if it happens to go below a threshold on a Friday, a separate column populates with the number 2. If its doesnt go below, the column with 1 does not populate, however, every Friday populates with a two.

I need a column that adds the 1 and the 2 when the threshold is broken on a Friday, but only shows the 1 when the threshold is broken on a non friday and shows 0 when the threshold isn't broken, but happens to be a Friday.
