I am using Office 2007. I have a cell that is set to wrap the text. Only thing is when it goes over 273 characters or so it no longer wraps and all I see is ###########. Is there a text wrap limit? I don't recall there being a limit. I tried making the cell height larger but that didn't work.
View 3 RepliesI have some text in a cell, which is longer than the width that I am going to make that cell. When I don't wrap the text, it cuts it off at the end of the cell.
Since each column represents a day in a calendar, it would be incorrect to merge the two cells, but I don't want the text hidden, since I need to print the final product.
It is non-numeric text, and i've pasted --> values to remove formula issues.

I am preparing a very large spreadsheet of text. Once I reach a certain point (a few paragraphs?), the program stops wrapping the text. All of my text is visible in the box at the top of the spreadsheet when I click on the cell. I double checked to make sure it's set to wrap, which it is. I tried merging two cells, no change.

I changed the cell sizes by dragging the row and column margins, changed text-general format and a lot other things but it appears that excel does not even know I have text in the cell. I also entered ALT+Enter to add a line break. Nothing happens. The text remains the same way. Dragging the margins only feels like uncovering the hidden layer of text under it.

However it does not seem to work. It just cuts off the end.
Does wrap text work if it is a formula and not actual text?
if there is maximum number of characters in a cell, above which wrapping and the row height auto-fit functions will not work? I typed a paragraph into a cell and have the cell set to wrap and the row height to auto-fit but it does not display on print preview or on actual printing past a certain character in the cell. Even when I manually increase the row height, it still does not display.

My cells will not always increase in size with text wrapping.

I need understanding what is the maximum length of string data type. I read that is 63K characters... but, in my case... maximum value is 253. I don't know why happens this. here is some code from one of my buttons.

when watch for x, the value is maximum 253 characters. I get error Data Type Mismatch - Error 13 with this.
Iv found some code that will limit my textbox entry to numbers only, i dont quite understand how it works and i need to change it so it limits the textbox keypress entry to Text Values only.

How do I import the text file so that I end up with 3 columns in Excel and still have the entire 3rd string from each line?
I think it's an easy one but for the life of me I can't get around it. ccasionally while re-typing data in fields with the intention of saving-as a new file, an error message appears saying "no more than 20 characters" This happens even when the number of characters is LESS than 20! I have tried clearing cell contents, copying & pasting, re-setting conditions/parameters for columns/rows etc., and nothing seems to work with any consistency. Instead of looking for a work-around solution I'd like to find the actual corrective action.

I have set up the text box to automatically resize for the text, but the text stops at what I assume is 255 characters, even though cell B1 displays the entire memo.
How can I set it up so that this text box (or any other similar shape) displays the text and retains its resize/wrap property?

I have a workbook with many spreadsheet named Sheet1, Sheet2 and so on. Each sheet is filled completely upto 65536 rows. This data is being picked up from a CSV file. In this file there are sites with each site there is a assciated set of data. What happens is the data that extracts data does not differntiate between sites and when it reaches to the end of worksheet it splits the data into next sheet. So I am trying to create a macro to check each spreadsheet starting with the last sheet in the work book for example last sheet in the workbook is seven it should go to sheet6 and if there is a blank row after row 64000 it should cut all the rows and move them to sheet7. Then it should goto sheet5 and do the same and keep on doing it until it reaches sheet1.

I've tried =SUMPRODUCT(--($C7:$C16=$C$2),($D7:F16)) but got the #Value! error because of the D7:F16 range. If I changed it to become F7:F16, then it works. But...my original formula adds all values giving me a YTD result. If I changed the range to be only F7:F16, then all I get is just that column's data. I have January to December's data across the columns from D to F. Any ideas on keeping my D to F range? I've tried Transpose but it didn't work either.

If I insert the code into the actual log file (no button and no opening of files), it works fine. I searched this forum and others and used everything I learned to find a solution, but the error remains.
I've created a form and would like to use a macro to transfer the form information details (form) from an intermediate worksheet (database intermediate) to the main database worksheet (database).
So far I've only been able to record a simple macro that will do just that. However, when I click on my assigned macro again, the information is washed away and the new form details have replaced it. Been trying to use the x1down coding to make it such that each new data goes onto the subsequent line? But I can't seem to get it right without getting an error message.

I'm using Data Validation for various fields in a form and I'm trying to make it user friendly by adding Error Alert conditions and text explaining why the error has occurred. I also want the form to be translatable into other languages.
For some VBA message boxes that get displayed I can put the English text in some hidden cells and that can be translated easily by someone without access to the code. But I cannot figure out how to make the Data Validation Error Alert messages point to a cell so that they are also translatable without forcing the translator to open each Data Validation dialog.
