View 13 RepliesI have an excel program that is supposed to count word instances in a word document. I can't seem to find the right declaration for a word document.
For example to declare a workbook in excel its
Dim wb As Work Book
I've tried
Dim doc As Word.Document
'or
Dim doc As Word.Application
as shown in some of the forum posts, but an error user-type not defined keeps displaying.
I have been looking for a forumla that will put an 'and' between the last two bits of information.
Joe Bloggs
Peter Smith
Matt Jones
I have list of names in individual cells like above. I have figured out a formula that will put them into a single line (Joe Bloggs, Peter Smith, Matt Jones). But what I need is a formula that will put it into single line and insert an 'and' ALWAYS between the last two people. So it should show like (Joe Bloggs, Peter Smith and Matt Jones) but if I remove Matt Jones it should now display as (Joe Bloggs and Peter Smith).
In column A i am using the following formula to output "Our Apple" when "Apple" is in column D and "Our Banana" when "Banana" is in column E:
[Code] .....
I would like the formula to also output "Big Apple" immediately underneath "Our Apple" when its present, and output "Big Banana" immediately below "Our Banana" when it is present.
The yellow column is how column A should look after the formula edit.

I am trying to make a word within a formula bold.
The word doesn't have to be bolded depending on the result. It will either appear or not based on the result of the formula. But obviously, if it appears, it [should] be bolded...
Obviously you can't format text on the formula bar. This is something I've wanted to do in Excel for YEARS!
I know you can make a random number generator pretty easily in excel...but is it possible to make a random word generator? I will give the words I want randomly generated.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to export Excel cell contents to Word fields in a protected Word document? For example...
What code would be needed to tell Excel to open up, copy and export the contents of A2 in the active sheet of a workbook to "Field 2" in a Word document named "Report 01" and then put the contents of B2 to "Field 2" etc?
Do both applications have to be opened up at the same time or is Excel able to open up Word on its own? Will the macro be able to....
1. Automatically open up the correct Word document?
2. Look ONLY in a certain folder for the "Report 01" Word document?
or
Bring up a "selection" box that allows you to select the document you wish Excel to export it's data to?
3. Close and save the Word Document without any user intervention?
I need to count how many times the word Test is in the range B4:H9 with
Range N2 = Test the formula below works if Test is only in the cell once.
=COUNTIF($B$4:$H$9,"*" & N2 & "*")
But I have data in cells like below, this is all in one cell, so how would I have it count all the times test is in the range when some cells have test 2 or more times in a single cell?
5
Test
8am-2pm
Test
5pm-10pm
I need my macros to search for the word "Cancel" or "Cancelled" in columns "T" and "U". Once found, I need the macros to make that entire row an opaque shading.
There will be other wording in these cells that contain "Cancel" or "Cancelled". Is it possible for the macros to search in the sentence and find the words "Cancel" or "Cancelled"
I started on the code below but am stuck.
How can i convert into upper case every word in a given cell. For instance:
I have the following in column A: books pen desk
i want it to be like this: Books Pen Desk
Have problems using find and the Dictionary
What Im trying to do is find a certain word in a string then return the number associated with that word
I am trying to automate the below process:
1. I have a excel file with Japanese words in column A and their English equivalents in column B.
2. I am trying to create a Macro and assign it to a button. On pressing the button Macro should be able to:
3. open a form where I can enter location of a word file.
4. Macro should open the word file specified in (3).
5. Macro will pick up first Japanese word from excel file (Sheet 1 - A1)
6. Search for that word in Word file
7. Replace the Japanese words in Word file with their English equivalent from excel (B1)
8. Then it should search for second word (A2) and replace with its equivalent (B2) and so on till it reaches last filled cell in excel file column A.
After a lot of search I could find a code from net (Below), made a few changes, but it is not working.

Private Sub OK_Click()
' Requires a reference to Microsoft Word xx.x Object Library
Dim sFile As String

how to accomplish more work quickly is proving difficult. I am making a word cloud of survey responses for my boss and he doesn't like to see similar words in the cloud (like Ease and Easy or even Fast and Quick). I have several hundred of these responses that are open ended answers that say one or many of these terms. Any way I can separate all the words and have them in one neat column? If I can get to that point, replacing those words will be simple enough.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to have a formula find a specific word in column L and return the sum from column E for the same fund from column C.
I tried using =SUMIF(L:L,"*annual*",E:E) but that gives me the sum of annual for the entire column. I need to be able to specify the fund.
word "annual" also appears in "semi annual" so I need to be able to separate the two.
I want to say if the word 'suitcase' is in column W (any row), place the word 'suitcase' in column Z, same row.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am in the middle of automating a process here at work, the program takes a word, "pencil" for example, from excel. It will then open up a word document with content already in it (premade template). The program will then find all instances of a string, "placepencilhere" for example, and will replace that instance with the string from excel.
Basically I want to be able to take a variable that has a stored string value from excel and use it to replace another variable in a word document.
I tried recording a replace (ctrl+f, replace tab) macro, copying the code, and inserting it into the excel vba code.. but I get a error message. Here is what I have:

I have a bunch of cells in column b that have products.
Column B
Dell 24" lcd
vaio sony laptop
8.0 mpxl kodak camera
photoepsonprinter
Basically in Column A I want a formula that'll say.
If the word "dell" is somewhere in cell b1, then put the word "Dell" in cell a1.
If the word "sony" is somewhere in cell b1, then put the word "sony" in cell a1.
And then so on and so forth down through column A. The brand names are potentially endless, so is there a easy way to on like a seperate sheet make a list of brand names and have it pull from there?
Originally I made a if function that said if the brand name was contained in the cell then output the brand name, but that caps at 7 for the amount of brands i can use....
01. I want to Type "Al Raha Pharmacy" in a cell
02. When I type "Al Raha" and I press space, then the word automatically changed to "Al Rahma"
03. I tried this in other cells also but the result is same.
I am trying to use a count if function for a specific word and a time range or number. so On Sheet 1 (called Raw Data) I want to check for the word annuity in Column H -
If it is present I want the formula to then check if the corresponding time in column C is within a specific hour.
HTML Code:
=COUNTIFS('Raw Data'!H:H,"Annuity",'Raw Data'!C:C, rng,">=19.00",'Raw Data'!C:C rng,"<20.00")
This is what I have so far.
I am having a formatting issue within a cell. I would like to accomplish a TAB space between to words so they always have the same space between, no matter how many characters the words or numbers have.
Example: I insert text and numbers from different cells in to one.
Formula: ........
It looks like this... so far so good.
25.02.2014 EUR 5'600.00 1.2177 CHF 6'819.12 Withrawal
But if i insert multiple lines with higher or lower amounts the formating goes wrong.
25.02.2014 EUR 5'600.00 1.2177 CHF 6'819.12 Withrawal
26.02.2014 EUR 10'000.00 1.2212 CHF 12'212.00 Deposit
The target would be to keep straight lines like with the TAB in Word.

I know there is no TAB whitin excel cells, but maybe there is a way to set a default charachter lenght that can be forced even if the amount or the text is shorter.
each cell contains one word say hello in a1 and Henry in b1. Is it possible to underline Henry after =concatenate(a1,b1) ?

For example, SUM all cells containing word PINK, even if there are other words in the cell also.
I cannot get the SUMIF function to pick words out of a cell, it will only SUM up if the whole text matches what is in the cell.
How can I put a VBA instruction to select the worksheet which its name contains the word "log" active? I played with some wild cards, but I guess I couldn't get the syntax right.
I have 22 CSV files. I want to search each of those files for a specific text string (ie: "profile" or "description"). When the macro finds the word in any one of the CSV files I want it to copy that complete csv worksheet and paste it into an excel xls file.
how I can go about doing this. Not also that while vlookup is possible, its very time consuming if i have to do this 50 times over and each time the csv files have different file names. that is why i want to search within a file (each file has its own unique identifying text string)
i have a username and password textbox and i want to know when i enter a correct username the textbox it is in turns green and when wrong it will turn red, here is the code i have so far im not very experienced but know bits and pieces.
Code for txtpassword.text
I'm from Bavaria, Germany. Right now, I am doing an internship for my studies. my problem: I need a search procedure which shows an Input Box where you can enter a word to search for. It should work like the original Excel search (Ctrl-F), but with a simpler design, like with my own Text "Enter your Query" and a Button "Submit Query" / "Quit search". Is there the possibility to Highlight the Search Target? The problem hereby is that this highlighting should not be permanent. That means the user sees the target for which he searched for, the cell highlighted in a different color, etc. But as soon as the user clicks onto another cell, etc., the highlighting vanishes. If there is no fitting match, there should be a MessageBox like "Sorry the Target xyz cannot be found"
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've imported a lot of data and it looks like this:
blahblahblahWord 1 Word 2 Word 3
First, I want to erase the "blahblahblah"
Second, I want Word 2 to be bumped over to the next column and Word 3 to the column after that.
Is there a formula to do this? There's so many rows of data that it will take a long time to do it manually.
I have the following line of code:
Code:
Range("D" & LastRow).Value = Area.Text + Level.Text
Area and Level are both comboboxes on a userform, I want them to both go to the same cell but with a space between them. Right now it looks like "AreaLevel" but I want it to look like "Area Level".
I assume that I can do this by making each value in the combobox have a space after it but I would like to know the proper way of doing it...
