VBA Code For Deleting Rows Where Cell In Column A States

Mar 20, 2009

I'm trying to get a VBA macro put together that would delete all the rows, throughout every sheet, and shift up wherever the cell in column A = "Delete Row" in a workbook I've made. In the below copy of the workbook you can see that a lot of the information from all the tables is linked to the topmost table on the 'Mix Detail Sheet'.

If the the Cell in column A is blank on that first table, its corresponding cells in tables throughout the workbook displays the words "Delete Row". I need the macro to delete the rows and shift everything up where this occurs.

Ideally I'd also like the macro to then delete the rows in that first table where the column A cells are blank.

Code For Deleting Rows Verses Hiding Rows

May 25, 2013

The first code hides everything just fine based on the date in A1. When I change it to the second code to delete instead of hide it is leaving a bunch of rows that the 1st code hides. Both codes have the same search criteria.

Code:
For Each cell In Range("B8:B5000") If cell.Value Range("A1").Value Then cell.EntireRow.Hidden = True
Next cell

Code:
For Each cell In Range("B8:B5000") If cell.Value Range("A1").Value Then cell.EntireRow.Delete
Next cell

Filtering And Deleting Rows With VBA Code

Aug 19, 2008

I've got a row of data with a column showing some sales including amounts with 0. Any row with 0 I want gone, so I want the macro to filter the list, delete all the rows with 0 in that column, and then display what's left, all the rows with some number other than 0 in that column.

The code below should filter the 0 rows, delete those rows, and then display what's left. I don't want the heading row deleted, but everything below it that is filtered. What my code below is doing now is not deleting everything it should. How can I fix it.

Sub prepmetrics()
'
' prepmetrics Macro
' for use with monthly report - don't forget the new coversheet
'
Application.ScreenUpdating = False

Range("A7").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=14, Criteria1:="0"

' this is the challenge here. How do I tell Excel to select, relatively, whatever
' rows are now showing as a result of the filter?

Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
Selection.Delete Shift:=xlUp
ActiveSheet.ShowAllData

' there may be a number of different criteria in different columns, so
' we rinse and repeat as many times as necessary but, again, each filter/delete
' task should delete all rows filtered

Selection.AutoFilter Field:=16, Criteria1:=">7500"
Selection.Delete Shift:=xlUp
ActiveSheet.ShowAllData

Application.ScreenUpdating = True

End Sub

Getting #VALUE Error When Deleting Blank Rows With VBA Code

So on my computer it works... on a coworkers computer it converts every used cell in the usedrange to #VALUE...

Searching A Column For A Word And Deleting All Rows That Don't Contain It

Jun 21, 2007

I am trying to create a search function in a database I have made. I have a userform with drop down boxes that people can choose what they want to search for. Once they have chosen and clicked the search button I want it to search only in the relevant column, i.e. search for the word in the dropdown for "engine" only in the "engine" column of the database. Once it has found the appropriate cells with the answer, I want it to delete all other rows that don't include the answer.

Once it's done this it needs to do it again for the other fields, unless they are empty. I have used 'If engine_type <> "" Then' as the starting point so that it only searches chosen fields.

Code To Delete Rows Based On Status Code In Column

Jul 24, 2009

I'm trying to write a VBA script which will delete all rows in my Excel spreadsheet where Column I (which contains a status code) does not contain the word "Completed".

At the moment, I'm doing this the other way round: my script is able to search for entries in Column I which contain the status codes "Pending", "Awaiting Authorisation", "In Progress" etc and delete them. The idea is that when all those rows are deleted, I'll only be left with rows which have a status of "Completed". This works fine at the moment. However, the concern is that if a brand new status code is added to the data file, my script would be unable to pick it up and delete it. This is a small sample of the code I'm currently using (which deletes all the rows with statuses other than Completed):

International And United States Custom Cell Formatting?

I am trying to insert custom formatting into a cell so when I enter a set of 9 numbers for phone numbers in the U.S. and 14 numbers for international phone numbers, it will automatically display it in the correct format. Reason for the 0's on the international is because country codes often start with a 0, so I need to ensure it isn't removed from the number.

Deleting Rows Based On Cell Content

Oct 17, 2007

I wish to remove the page headers that were imported along with the raw data. Here's the code I've been using.

Column_To_Check = 3
Start_Row = 1
End_Row = ActiveSheet. Cells(Start_Row, Column_To_Check).CurrentRegion.Rows.Count
MsgBox End_Row
Search_String = "."
For Row_Counter = Start_Row To End_Row
If ActiveSheet.Cells(Row_Counter, Column_To_Check).Value <> Search_String Then
ActiveSheet.Rows(Row_Counter).Delete
Row_Counter = Row_Counter - 1
End If
Next Row_Counter
End Sub

When I import the data from the text file, there are 3 dimensions separated by a period in the same field. I.E: ABC.DEF.GHI and I use the break points to seperate as such: ABC|.|DEF|.|GHI|. Therefore, all rows that contain data also contain a period in cell C, but headers don't.

The Problem

End_Row = ActiveSheet.Cells(Start_Row, Column_To_Check).CurrentRegion.Rows.Count

CurrentRegion only selects up to the first blank row. However, I need this to select the whole sheet, not just the current region.

Code Only Deleting One Empty Row Instead Of All Empty Rows

Jan 22, 2012

I am using the following block of code, which cycles through the data and first deletes any cell with "Legal:" in it, and then cycles through again and deletes any row where the cell is blank.

The problem is that within the data, there are some locations where there are two blank rows in a row. When the code runs through, it deletes the FIRST blank row only, not the second. I Need ALL blank rows within the data set to be deleted.

Code:
Sub ModifyNewData()
Dim r As Range, rAll As Range
Dim WS As Worksheet
Dim iLast As Integer

[Code] ........

Also, if there is a way to write looking for blank rows into the first block of code looking for "Legal:" that would be cool too.

If not, just deleting all the blank rows is good. Right now, I have to have the second block of code run twice to get rid of the remaining blank rows.

Deleting Duplicate Rows Based On Cell Values

Nov 28, 2013

Many rows have duplicate email addresses. I would like to remove all the duplicate rows, EXCEPT for the row with the most recent Update_timestamp.

And actually, if I could just "hide" all those rows, that would be even better, but I'd be happy just figuring out how to delete all the "old" rows, so I just have a list of unique email addresses, with their create/update timestamps and o_flag column. Seems like this is such a basic use case for "Remove Duplicates,",.

I have no problem with finding the last cell and adding data to that cell, but I'm having trouble with how to go about deleting the value of a single cell.

So as an example, If I've populated Cells A1:A10, and I want to delete the value that's in A6, how do I go about moving cells A7:A10 up one to fill in any empty spaces?

Filling Rows According To Cell Values And Deleting Rows With No Values

Jan 25, 2013

I have inherited a spreadsheet with over 800 rows (and daily expanding) and 14 columns of data. I've attached a sheet that looks similar, with only 200 rows for reference. Here are my questions:

1. How can I delete all rows that contain no values?
2. I want to fill an entire row of data yellow if the values in the final two cells (L&M) in the row are equal, and red if they aren't. How can I do that?
3. Column A contains only dates, from oldest to newest. I'd like an obvious visual clue for when the months change. Currently it's a long, merged, blue-filled cell that says "March 2011", for instance. It can't be color because all cells need to be filled based on certain criteria (see #2), and borders aren't obvious enough.
4. I want to click on the row number on the very right, but have it select only columns A-M, is that possible?

I'm also having trouble with autofill. It seems to only work on parts of the spreadsheet. I don't know what settings may have been changed, but I do have autocomplete turned on, and no clue what to do despite hours of googling.

Clear Rows Vs. Deleting Rows To Avoid #REF! Formula Error - Macro

Jun 9, 2009

I have a macro which is copying data from several worksheets into one consolidation worksheet. When determining where to paste the data into the consolidation sheet, the macro includes some logic to find the last row that has data in it (using e.Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row, where "e" is a variable holding the name of the consolidation worksheet).

Once all the data is on the consolidation worksheet, I have a second worksheet with formulas that link to the consolidation sheet. The issue I have is that the first step of my consolidation macro deletes all data on the consolidation sheet to ensure that no data is double-counted). I am deleting the data with logic that simply deletes all rows from 3 to 65536. Once these rows are deleted, Excel returns a #REF! error on my second worksheet which is linking back to this data.

Rather than deleting the rows on the consolidation sheet, I have tried using the Clear and/or ClearContents commands instead. This works (i.e., my formulas no longer error out), but results in the consolidation macro running very slowly (~15 minutes, compared to
