Workbook Causing Intermittent Freeze & Not Responding

I recently added some command buttons to 6 excel files each with about 20 sheets. most of the sheets got 6 new buttons. After I added the buttons I would get memory errors when I treied to open other files. So I upgraded to Office 2003 and Excel 2003 because I read that it had increased memory available. It did not seem to help much, and now on average about evry say 10 minutes Excel hangs for about 1o seconds, sometimes saying "Not Responding" up the top. Then it starts working again. MY PC has Server 2003 and 1GHz and 512MB of Ram. Here is some info:
I have a set of userforms, two of which are big with 4 pages and many buttons, labels and textboxes that run or are involved in code being run from user input to the userform.
For some reason certain codes are cauing excel to fully crash, executing these codes will make excel crash each time and the only way to prevent it (that I have found) is to open the userform in VB editor and then close VB editor again, the code will then work perfectly for a while and then it will start crashing again (it is normally a few saves and open/closes later that this occurs).
Logically thinking, opening the userform in VB must reset something that gets corrupted or set incorrectly....
I have a workbook with many lookups, sumproducts, dynamic named ranges and cse formulas. How do I determine what is causing my workbook to be slow? Are there more efficient formula types that I can use?
I've had this workbook freeze during a perpetual dynamic web query for quite some time now and have mentioned in a few previous posts while trying to elimnate probable causes. Nothing suggests anymore it's codes or structre of the codes in Excel or even physical memory issues.
Symptoms as best as I can describe.
It only seems to happen when observing some extra internet activity due to the icons flashing on the task bar, in a split second.
For example, perhaps; auto-update checks, browser pop ups when logged in to a secure web site, or I even suspect maybe some sort of Ping, yet it's part of the overall standard operation of Wndows OS Ping.
From my intense observations it's always when the 2 TCP icons on the task bar flash an extra "beat".
Hope this makes sense in trying to describe a cause or symptom.
The nature of this glitch happens on all computers in both Office 2000 and now 2003 versions of Excel.
Fresh install of the entire OS has been done with standard Installation and a fresh re-insatll of Office,with or without security softwares etc.
It's always exactly the same, it will freeze at the precise moment the flashing icons is not the regualr sync. during the perpetual web query process.
It will freeze all worksheets, meaning I have to Close and Re-open the Workbook and it's ok till it happens again.
Where to now with this glitch, or would it have something to do with certain port settings?
I have a macro which I recorded, then modified. The first thing it does is to freeze the top row, then it goes looking for a particular row and inserts some formulae. Nothing complicated at all.
It WAS working perfectly, but I wanted some improvements in the insertion of the formulae. I got that working just fine, but now the panes freeze in the wrong place. No matter what I do, it freezes at cell I16. I want only the top row frozen.
It still freezes at I16. I have tried shutting down Excel, and even my computer, in case it is some weird bug where something is stuck in memory.
I tried recording another macro to format some cells and also freeze the top row. Same result.

Same result. I tried copying the contents of the worksheet to Notepad, then into a fresh workbook, just in case there's some weird hangup in formatting that I can't see.
There is NOTHING in the original code that references that cell, or even that row or column. NOTHING. How it got hung up on that one cell I cannot fathom.
The Freeze Panes command works normally if I apply it manually. Any cell, anywhere, it works as expected.
I am creating a report which lists gifts during a two week time period. Most donors have only one gift, listed in column C and D. Some donors have donated twice or three timies in the two week period. I would like these entries, which are intermittent in Cloumns H-I and K-L, to be automatically moved under the corresponding cells in columns C and D. This way an individuals two or three donations all end up in one column.
I have written a fairly large spread sheet, and I have consistently had excel crashes when the first form initialises at startup. However if I resave the workbook over itself or sometimes as another name it will then work. Once it works - it will always work while I dont restart my computer. The next day the same workbook will crash on form startup. Once this happens t always crashes on startup. If it works OK first up it always works. However if I edit it the process may happen all over again. I am 100% their is no error in the code as in certain stages it has worked for months. It seams like some bug in excel? Has anyone ever had this issue?
I am analysing market data to determine when trades should take place and when they should be closed. This works well. But I need to find the intermittent high value between the dates for purchase and the closing trades, and then insert these values in column S in the attached worksheet.
I don't know if a function can find these values or if a macro is needed (or if I should amend the existing macro that currently finds the closing trades).

Some times the cell having formula, is not calculating , i need to click F2 then enter to get the real calculation. Why this is happening and how to avoid it?
I have a multipage userform with about 7 pages. When page 5 is activated, it caused excel to completely lock up. This does not happen everytime but randomly, and I can't seem to figure out what is causing this.

I searched the forum for an answer to my problem since I'm positive its a FAQ. Well I was right and many other users have asked a similiar question. My problem is this: I am looking to find the average of a set of numbers in column T that meets certain criteria. I was suggested by other user to use this function which finds me the total number. =SUMPRODUCT(--($E$1:$E$400="S"),--($H$1:$H$400=17),--($U$1:$U$400<>"BEBLT"),--($U$1:$U$400<>"NVLIV"),--($T$1:$T400 > 0),$T$1:$T$400)
I have tried inputing Count, Countif, Average in place of Sumproduct as well as Count enclosing the entire sumproduct function. Nothing seems to work for me. I have also tried using a SQL statement in my VBA to provide a count but it doesn't seem to produce the required result. The above function works like a charm for finding the sum, but I need to find the average of this number thus I am looking for the Count equivilant. I'm sure this is a simple problem and I'm still a rookie when it comes to functions in excel.
I have having alot of frustation with a big group of Macro's I have written, all the macros work and run fine most of the time but they crash Excel on occasion and the only way I have been able to fix it is to go into Visual Basic and opening the project up (it is password protected) but not making any changes, after doing this it seems to magically stop crashing, for a while, then doing it again.
I can't work out how or why that would make a difference, I dont expect you to try and work out a problem in the code or anything like that cause it is too big and would be unreasonable of me to ask,
What I would like to know is if anyone else is aware of this sort of issue, why it happens and if there is any good cure for it?
I am running excel 2003 if that also makes any difference.
I've created a price sheet that I distribute to customers that is very customer specific. I have to add spacing, logo's, borders and highlighting depending on the products being listed. Because of all of this specialization I'm controlling the page breaks and overflow. I have a counter to keep the current line number of the report and another to determine the row within the current page. I've designed my form to have 77 lines per page and I call a pagebreak/overflow routine when I hit line 72 of each page. Works perfectly when I test on my PC and works about 80% of the time when I send to customers, but I have about 20% who have problems with page size and overflow. In working with them I've found that it's not just the printed copy, but also when they print preview on screen. The first few lines of the second page print at the bottom of the first, so the top of page two is cut off. Then 4 lines from page three print at the bottom of two and so on...
I have created a chart with four data ranges. I have a check box for the four ranges. If a check box is TRUE the data is shown in the chart. When I check one of the check boxes, I want the CreateChart macro to run, but this is not happening with the code below?
I have a Word document that I'd like to print first, when I click Print on a specific worksheet (not on Print of other worksheets in the workbook, just the one). The worksheet contains customer information and is essentially a cover page for the Word document. the Word document already prints in reverse order, as does the worksheet, so I just need the Word doc to print prior to the worksheet/cover, to give me the total print package in the correct order. I've got a spreadsheet that lists employee hours worked by week, I'm trying to create a function that would give an automatic look-back of both 90 days and 6 months. I've found some useful answers in other threads, but they tend to hinge on a zero value cell signaling the latest week (not) worked; however, for this purpose, some employees may have zero value fields for some weeks but have worked others.
I'm looking for a formula that can be uniformly applied to all employees in the spreadsheet and average their weekly hours for the past 90 or 180 days without having to update the formula each week new hours are entered.

Generally works upon restart. Can load and unload the form numerous times. Seems loading the form after a few minutes results in the form failing to load generating the error. Found no consistent cause thus far.
Results in a hard crash: Restart Excel as only option.
The Form Code for Controls loads a modeless transaprent form. Has been working for months. Don't know if this error is new or has been there all along.

if column E is "Annuity", you can type a value in column J and it runs a formula to calculate a value for column K. If E is not "Annuity" it clears the contents of J (which should clear K). What's not working is when column J gets cleared or manually deleted, column K must be blank. The worksheet_change event is not working for deletion of column J.
Having another problem with the same macro that has been giving me trouble for a week now. Now, the macro will run, but after it finishes, excel stops responding. Is this because the macro continues to run indefinitely.
I have create excel VBA to put data from excel sheet to Server database through network. I create the VBA on the "Workbook_beforeprint" so every time the user print out the sheet, the code will run.
Problem occur when there is no network and excel application become not responding.
I want to make VBA code so that every time excel application become not responding because no network, this code will bypass the existing VBA and resume to print.
I have a genuine copy of office pro 2010. All works fine except excel!
It seems to be mainly on one workbook I have brought over from open office and on a mac! It wont save due to errors it won't tell you about? It then stops responding or crashes? Wont save as etc....
I have repaired, I have even deleted and downloaded a new office pro genuine and installed and doing the same so i guess it has to be the file?
BUT it seems to work on another laptop we have, same file, same excel????
The only thing i seem to be able to find is in the permissions it has an "unknown account"? Also under the file menu where it allows you to check the file it states something about conditional formatting i have used and not being compatible BUT i cant for the life of me find that in the menus to get rid?
I think I did something but I don't know What. I select a cell that has a 20 font Size I enter a number it show at the 20 Font. Now when I go some ware else in the work unselecting that cell the number went to font 10 and droped to the left bottom of the cell. When I select the cell again and select the the left middle and right to move the number it does not responed. It happens everyware in the worksheet.
I am working on a macro that runs when a combobox is clicked. The combobox is imbedded directly in the worksheet, not in a form.
Basically, the user clicks the down arrow on the combobox, selects one of the available choices, and the choice selected is written to the spreadsheet - each time the selection is made, it is written to a successive row in the spreadsheet - keeping track of every selection made.
The macro works, mostly. But problem is that if the user repeats a selection in the combobox (makes a choice, and then in the next cycle makes the same choice) the macro doesn't run - nothing happens.

My form controls (cmd buttons) and images don't appear or don't work. I was working on a macro to cut and paste a set of cells (protected sheet, I did unprotect it), and I noticed the cmd button tied to this disappeared. It then re-appeared but I couldn't engage it. This is part of a larger workbook that consists of a single page of cmd buttons that release specific worksheets (no activex). These buttons disappeared and re-appeared and don't work either. When I select the button I can see the cell underneath light up. It's like the image is there but nothing else?
The macros run fine from VBA editor. I was thinking the issue had something to do protections? There are more than 5 passwords (set on a worksheet) being used here, there is a fair amount of protecting and unprotecting going on, and I loop through the worksheets several times. Everything was working fine and now I'm stuck. I was getting a the-object-invoked-has-disconnected-from-its-client error related to an "insert cells" command on a co-workers computer, but not on my machine. This is actually what I was trying to solve when it crapped out. I would delete the buttons and create them all again, but I can't even select them to delete them.
I have a code where column K is not responding to a value being deleted out of column J. I've highlighted the portion of the code dealing with this. Deletion should trigger the worksheet_change event to clear out column K as it's supposed to. how to get deletion to take effect?
This is part of a macro in a worksheet_change event. When a cell in column J gets deleted by a user, the corresponding cell in column K should also clear. But it's not responding to the delete.
It DOES clear when the other 2 criteria are met (.cells(1,10) = 0 and .cells(i,5) <> "Annuity"). The worksheet_change event should pick up on the cell deletion, but it's not. And column J is already a trigger for the macro to run, so I'm not sure what's going on. Either the trigger is still wrong, the isempty(.cells(i,10)) is not correct syntax, or this event just doesn't respond to cell deletion.
