Array Formula To Get Totals

I have two (very large) data tables, one with unit costing, and another with counts, similar to the following:

Table - Unit Costing

4..thingy...$3.....$5.........$7
5..dobop...$8.....$9........$10

Table - Counts:

9.....ITEM..PROD1..PROD2..PROD3
10..widget....0.........1.........3
11..thingy.....3........5.........1
12..dobop.....2.........0.........8

and this is what i'm looking to do with it...
result table:
..........A.......B........C........D
...............TYPE1..TYPE2..TYPE3
15..PROD1
16..PROD2
17..PROD3

so in cell B15 I put:
{=sum(vlookup(A10:A12,A1:D5,2,FALSE)*B10:B12)}

I'm expecting $25, but I'm getting 0

It looks to me like vlookup (specifically the lookup value array) can't be used like i'm trying to use it here...

Formula For Monthly Totals

I need to create a running monthly total formula for a worksheet. This is something i need in the data, so i can manipulate it without using a pivot table.

I think I would use the SUM, MONTH, and IF formulas, and maybe EOMONTH.

I guess where I'm stuck is figuring out how to make conditions for my SUM formula. So as the dates go down the page, I would like a running total in a column to the right, that will also restart with every new month.

Attached is my example.

I have cells that have added up totals on each sheet and I would like to have a "total of the totals" if that's at all possible?

It just becomes confusing when there's 15+ worksheets!!!!

Formula To Get Totals From List Of Dates

I am trying to write a formula for my account statement its got a list of dates of invoices descriptions then the value of invoice.

I want to check the dates of invoice to the date of statement if less the 1 day invoice total to go in a box called current, if between 2 and 30 days to invoice value to go into 1 to 30 days past due, if between 31 and 60 days invoice values to go into a box called 31 to 60 days past due, and then if dates are between 61 days or more then invoice totals go in to a over 61 days over due box.

I have to calculate the totals for every individual for the past three months. I have to do this for 200 people, is there a formula i could use to do this? Eg. if a person made 50 sales in Jan, 40 sales in Feb and 100 sales in March i need a formula that calculates the grand total, which will be 190.

MY data is an extract with names, individual dates (Ie, 01/05/08, 02/05/08, etc) and costs per day. What i want to do is show a total for the month using the start and end date of that month to add up all the costs within.

Formula That Averages Totals From Different Months Out Of The Year

I need is a formula that averages totals from different months out of the year. I already have a yearly average. That was easy. But what I need is a 3 & 6 month average.

I also need it to be most current, so when I am in September, it will take the 3 previous months and average them and same with the 6 month. Then when I move into October, it would take its 3 previous months, i.e. - July,August, September.

Converting 3x10 Array To A 1X30 Array To Run A Match Formula

Say I have 3 columns of data: A1:C10 and I want to run a Match() function on them all together to see if I get a match any one those cells, say the value of have in X1.

Since, Match only allows a One-Column lookup array.. is there a way to "concatenate" or "append" the 3 columns together within a formula so now I would be looking to Match in an array that is 1 column * 30 rows?

Basically want to convert =Match(X1,A1:C10,0) to =Match(X1,A1:A30,0) without moving around the raw data in the sheet.

And I want to avoid doing an AND or OR formula that uses 3 separate MATCH() for each column.

I have a hunch that the MMULT or MMULT/TRANSPOSE functions are involved, but can't seem to get it right.

Formula For Working Out And Populating Table Using Previous Month Totals?

I have an issue whereby I have thousands of lines of data. I need to bring back the "previous month" worth of data (along with some additional information) but not sure how to go about this.

The attached shows the example file. I need the following :
1. Take the data to populate the "Populate" tab
2. Using Column F (Invoice Date Created) to only bring back the "previous month data" - in this case it would be May 2014
3. The following formula is what I have currently for Column B of the "Populate" tab: =SUMPRODUCT(SUMIFS('Data'!$N:$N, 'Data'!$M:$M, "Invoice Payment Processed", 'Data'!$A:$A, A2))
4. The above formula brings back all the values - I only want the previous month.
5. I am then not sure how to calculate Column C - which is a count of the amount of invoices that make up the total

Copy And Paste (not Reading The Totals In Row 2 To Make The Formula Complete)

I am trying to get the formulas to work on Sheet 3, the rows formated to percentages correctly, but they are not reading the totals in row 2 to make the formula complete. I also want this to run more than one number, I would prefer a range for example value >= 1.29 so that Sheet 3 shows all items less than 1.29.

Can A Macro Write A Formula As An Array Formula

I'm trying to have a macro write down an array formula, but when I hit ctrl+shift+enter, the recorder says it can't record. If I write in the macro ...FormulaR1C1 = {=...} then I get the formula as a text. Is there a way to tell the macro that a formula should be entered as an array formula?

Using An Array Formula To Sum

I want to use an array formula to sum about 5 rows each of which has 5 columns, e.g.

1 2 3 4 5 15
2 3 4 5 9 23
5 4 3 2 5 19
9 8 7 6 5 35
7 6 4 2 1 20

The final column is the total for each row. Instead of using =sum(a1:a5) then dragging the formula down thus creating a new formula for each line, I want to use a single array formula to achieve the same result. I have tried =sum($a$1:$a$5:$e$1:$e$5), even though all my instincts said it did not look right. And I was right!

I'm sure it is easy, but I just cannot work out the syntax.

I have an formula for calculating the factor of a number this a fairly long array formula I decided to try to write this in vba to use as a user defined function. I first decided to record a macro of me writing the formula in excel to see what the code looked like, this I then adapted in another module copying the basic formula in a function procedure. my recorded macro works fine when I run it but my adapted function shows an error namely that the FormulaArray is not defined. I've tried all kinds of variations but with no success. how do I write an array formula in V.B.A.

I have a list in excel that contains the same sku more than once on a
workbook in no paticular order, however i want to bring back the last
time that this sku appeared on the workbook for example:

SKU 271562 date counted 11 september
SKU 275555 date counted 12 september
SKU 271562 date counted 12 september
sku 255212 date counted 13 september
& so on
SKU 271562 date counted 11 october

The date range is only applicable to the date counted therefore i
cannot search via a date

IF & MAX Formula With Array

The following formula works, but takes far too long for an efficient user to run (note the array):

{=(MAX(IF(($B$4:$B$50000=$B4)*($I$4:$I$50000=$X$1),1*$J$4:$J$50000)))}

B = Number Values (e.g. 3431003)
I = Simple Text Values (e.g. I, P)
J = Dates (e.g. 4/15/2009)

Is there a formula that would provide the same result in a quicker fashion?

Note: Unfortunatly, the data will get up to 50,000 rows.

Can Formula Be Placed In An Array I.e. { } ?

Seems not.

For example,

=SUMPRODUCT({1,0,1,0},F24:F27)

is ok. But

=SUMPRODUCT({if(F24=1,1,0),0,1,0},F24:F27)

is not.

Why is this so or is there a way to go aroung this?

I have a lengthy array formula that I try to enter using VBA. I get the common run-time error. I tried breaking it down, but that did not work. Maybe the syntax was wrong in the break down. Can some help out please?

Using A UDF In An Array Formula

I have a custom UDF (user defined function) that I have been using for about 2 years with success. I am now trying to use it in an array formula and getting a #Value! error.

The UDF looks like this...

=MyUDF(A1,B1)

...where A1 is a string to be evaluated and B1 is a number. Basically, the function returns another number depending on the relationship of the two inputs. I have not had any issues in the past using it as shown above.

Now, I would like to use this function on a range of cells and sum the results. Here is what I have now...

{=SUM(MyUDF(A1,B1:B100))}

Does anyone know why this returns a #Value! error?

Index Or Array Formula..?

I am trying a simple Index or Array formula and have been trying all day to get this work to no avail. The data is freight costs for shipping different size containers (20' and 40') to different ports (Lyndhurst, Port Coquitlam and Seattle).

I will have the port name plugged into one cell and the container size plugged into another cell and want to pull the corresponding freight cost out into another cell. The red text in the file are the data that I will plug in. The box below is where I would like the result.

I have a list of 187 countries and I would like to find a way to do this with an array and not by hand. Attached here is an excel with a sample; I would like to compute the standard deviation of the variable for the period 1980-2008 for each country separately. Is there a way to do this without me having to select by hand the range corresponding to each country in the st dev formula?
