Excel user that has been manually computing a 6000 row spreadsheet. Here is sample data and what I need. Column A goes through the alphabet (A,B, C, etc.) and Column B is numbers from 1-65. I need Column C to count the number of rows for each alphabet/number pair. K, 28 has 3 rows; K, 33 has 1 row; L, 21 has 4 rows; etc.

I have two Columns C and E that have dollar amounts in them. I want to compare each row in those columns and then total the number in column C that are higher that column E.
So basically C6>E6, C7<E7, C8=E8,C9>E9 should return the result of 2. There are two instances where the price in C is higher than the price in E.
Here's what I have.. (on a much smaller scale)

I would like compare data using a certain column to key off of and compare whether data has changed.
I have 5,000 rows and 26 columns. Cell C1 is CALLED PMNUM, cell I1 is called CHANGEDATE
I want to find all of the same PMNUMs (C2-C5000), look at the last change date (I2) (sorted in descending order), compare it to the previous change date (I2) and if anything has been changed in columns D2 through G2 and J2 through Z2 compared to the last time the data was reported, list the changes in in AA2.

=AND($C$5=B7,$K$5=G5)
The problem is I would like to compare the entire colums (or array) and return the number of 'TRUE' statements in the array as a value.
=AND($C$5:$C$65536=B7,$K$5:$K$65536=G5)
however, this returns all values as 'FALSE'
example of arrgument:
IF C5:C65535=customer then count how many cells in K5:K65536=completed
I need a function to compare two ranges and return a match. For example
Range A: {A56, B43, C98, D44}
Range B: {A33, G89, D44, K123, OB55}
the function would return D44. Is it possible at all with functions or do I need a macro?
I have data exported as .txt from an external program in the following format:
Sample Name Marker Allele1 Allele 2 ....Allele n
AAA D8S1358 10 11 XX
AAA D16S539 16 19 XX
and so on.
Each "Sample Name" will have 16 different "Marker"s and upto 10 different "Allele" at each "Marker". There could be upwords of 200 Sample Names on each exported sheet. Is there a simple way to compare all of the data from each "Sample Name" to each other and possibly to another sample set that will always be static but of the sample general makup as this?
I have an attendance sheet that employees scan their badge number, and returns their name and time/date stamp using a simple VLOOKUP.
I want to create a report that compares the names in the attendance sheet against the all the names in the master sheet, and only returns the names that have not attended the training.
I have tried a few test formulas using COUNTIF function, but with no luck.

If I am working from cell (D16), I am looking for a formula to compare the value in 2 different cells (D8 and D12) to a value in a third cell (D14) and the one with the closest value without going over returns a seperate value from either (D7 or D11), But if both D8 and D12 are above the value of (D14) then the closest value would be the answer and return the answer from (D7 or D11).
Example: D7=Bob and D8=25
D11=John and D12= 40
D14= 45
D16 (answer cell) =John
OR:
D7=Bob and D8=46
D11=John and D12=48

I have two lists, one has 250 items, the other 4500, both contain a String
I need to compare any word within a cell in the short list, against any word within a cell in the long list.

Does this involve IF, MATCH or VLOOKUP formulas?
I am, and have been using several sum- and count-ifs formulas for a time, but when the new year rolled around, decided to improve some of the sheet.
That all being said, the issue started after this. A specific set of my count and sum if functions started returning error values.
I analysed them, they seemed fine, and then selected them and hit enter. Problem over in that cell, as suddenly the correct value is returned.
But that's just it, I know the formulas are correct and working, as, if I select and hit enter on them individually, they return the right value. However, every time I close the sheet and re-open, all the values are showing error again.
I am perplexed. Did I inadvertently change a setting somewhere when I rebuilt the worksheet that is preventing the formulas from resolving correctly? As, like I said before, the formulas are fine, the data they are resolving, is fine. Just does not seem to calculate when I open the sheet.
I have an excel spreadsheet which calculates the count and value of line items based on a report. I use the sumproduct function to calculate this as it involves multiple criteria. The formula is use is

I think the possible error is coming out of this criteria (LEFT('Report 50'!$S$2:$S$64992,14)="credit transfe")
Out of one particular field i am picking those line items in which the first 14 characters are "Credit Transfe", if i eliminate this criteria i dont get error.
But this is the main criteria for my calculation. Most of the time i dont get any error , but sometines i get the # Name Error? When i double click on the cell it goes to one column. I dont know what to do from there.
I just can't get this to work. I am sure it will be easy for you all...
Here is the scenario...
Column A : has usernames of people that have paid.
Column B : has ALL usernames of people.
How can I find the usernames that have not paid? Is there a formula that can do this? Somehow compare the two columns to weed out the usernames of the people that have not paid.

I have a column of letters a,b,c going down in one column (A1:A30)
In B1:30,C1:C30,D1:D30 etc (up to AZ1:AZ30) I have a random selection of a,b,c's
I need to compare all other columns against column A, and have excel tell me when any one of the columns does not match EXACTLY the order of the a,b,c's in column 1. So for instance cell AC:1 does not match cell A:1, AC:2 doesnt match A:2 etc all the way to AC:30. In other words, all the cells contain a,b,c's but in a different order to A1 and thats when I want excel to flag that coloumn up in the 31st cell in the corresponding column. I hope that makes sense. I have been looking for days and now my brain is fried.
I have a pair of digits in col B, that I would like to match with the digits in in col D, and display those matches in col E. If possible I would delete the duplicates in col E, and show results in col F.

I need Invoice # from column A to put in Column I by comparing Name in G and H with Name in D and E.
For Example
Compare Alfred Whitworth (Column G & H) in Column D & F would give Inv # 88530 ...this value will go in column I.
Compare Angela Owens and could not find in Column D and E so leave Column I Blank.
Compare Annabelle Deen would have Inv # 88740

I am trying to make code to randomly pair up players. I have found code which makes a button that randomly pairs up players in a list but I want to make it so that ? players are paired with ? other players instead of everyone at the same time so that a person dosn't get paired with more then one player at a time.
E.g. take the first 6 players in a last and pair them with the second 6.

I have two lists that represent pairs of electrical connectors. List_1 is Male Connectors, and List_2 is the mating Female Connectors. The lists are built so that when side-by-side, a mating pair line up next to each other.
I'm trying to build a User Interface that presents the connectors as pairs, but also aloow the user to select EITHER member of the pair.
My first thougt was to use a Listview or a Listbox with 2 columns. Either way, the user selects a full row, rather a single entry in a row.
I finally ended up building a userform with 2 Listboxes adjacent to each other, and a Vertical Scrollbar Control to the right of the pair. I added the following code to the form, to scroll both Listboxes simultaneously:

As far as that goes, it works fairly well. The user scrolls up and down using the Scrollbar control, and paired entries remain adjacent to each other. The user can select an entry from either Listbox, and I can easily harvest that choice through code.
I was hoping, however, that I could support people who use the keyboard for navigation.
Focus on one of the Listboxes, then navigate using the up and down arrow keys. When the user gets to the end of the list, the value of the Scrollbar control increments or decrements as required, thus re-populating the lists. I just can't get this to work in a way that is not cludgey. I have worked through about a half-dozen possible methods, and each one has some hitch that makes it either hokey or unworkable.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have used excel to create a list of matching pairs, which I want to link together. The problem is, all I have been able to create is a very long list of matching pairs, and no way to link all the pairs together. My sheet looks like this.

The first row shows that 100 goes with 200, and the other rows continue defining which blocks go together. What I need is a way to summarize all the blocks that link up, ie get 100-200-300-400-500 and 600-700-800 from this list of relationships. Can't do it with a lookup because some blocks link to multiple other blocks.

I'm am trying to take multiple column-groups and sort them by product ID number.
I am trying to put together a sales record for the past 26 months for around 2000 different items and sorting them manually would obviously be a nightmare.
I would like to sort them so that all the drugs with the same NDC (prod ID) have the correct data for each month displayed on the correct row for that NDC. Right now I have each set of data for that month sorted by product ID number but some months we used certain products and others we did not. Is there any sort of Macro that I could use? What I am trying to do I attached two files. The "before" and my desired "after".
