Nov 9, 2006i want to convert an excel spreadsheet into a text file, keeping the same format, but when i do so, excel puts " " around the characters, which i don't want. Example: please see the 2 attachments.
e.g. when i convert, i don't want the " " around the commas in the text file.

(because my efficiency dropped by half by searching the command i wanted in excel2007.) when i open them with excel2003 again, there are a lot of styles. i want to remove them. but it is a tedious job to remove them one by one for these spreadsheets.

I work every day with big amount of item numbers and lists in excel and I need some macro or code to automatically remove rows, containing unwanted text.

The above was imported to Excel from another software and somehow those unwanted rows with "0" were created.
Would like to delete those unwanted row and combine the reason on those rows into their respective rows above.
Please note: this is just a small part of the file. The file is big and row with "0" doesnt occur in a prodictable patten.

For everything that doesnt equal EM, LN, LW and TH in column A, everything should be deleted in column B.
For the remaining EM, LN, LW and TH, i would then like it to delete / (forward slash and all characters after this) so that this would make my life easier.

I would like the data in the workbook that is not "Tuesday" (column L) and is not "3" or "4" (column I) to be deleted. All rows that have "Tuesday" and either "3" or "4" should not be deleted. Each row that is not deleted must have Tuesday in column L. All other cells are blank intentionally. The workbook will remain the same titled WKBK1 (no need to put the output data in a separate workbook nor separate spreadsheet).
Do you know what the macro would be so I don't have to copy and paste a formula over a large number of cells?

May 15, 2012I'm using excel 2010. I'm working with columns of values where most of the values are numbers - which is fine, and there are some numbers that have a "p" at the start of them.
e.g. Column has 49, 52.2, p56.7, 34
OK, I want to preserve the 56.7 but I want to delete the "p". I'm thinking I've got a mental block as to how to delete the unwanted "p"s but I can't think of how to do it at the moment! My code goes as follows:

Reset Vertical Scroll And / Or Delete Unwanted Blank Rows At The Bottom?
Mar 18, 2014My spreadsheet has 600rows and the vertical scroll bar ends at row 459424. I have attempted to delete all of the extra rows by holding SHIFT and CTRL, striking the down arrow then right-clicking on the left margin of highlighted row numbers and choosing delete.
But the unwanted rows are still there and my vertical scroll bar is not correlated to the 600 rows.
Can't Delete Pages From Worksheet
Mar 3, 2014I was trying to print a workbook which was about perhaps 20-30 sheets of roughly one page of printed info each. However, I saw the print job and it said it was printing over 7,000 pages!!!
It turns out there were about 4-5 worksheets which were blank (and also didn't have gridlines even though gridlines were checked on in options).
When I switched the sheets to page break view, lo and behold each sheet contained a few thousands "pages". I simply can't seem to reduce it down to a relatively normal size.
I tried going right past the edges of page 1 and deleting all columns/rows to the right and bottom of it to no avail. I selected the whole worksheet and removed all borders and any cell content with no luck.
I saw other "solutions" on the internet about copy/pasting the other unaffected sheets to a new workbook and deleting, but this seems cumbersome.
Delete Row From Multiple Pages
Oct 20, 2011I have a command box that I type a number into, when you type this number and hit "OK" it searches that sheet in column B for that number, if it finds that number it deletes it, if not close. This works perfectly. I have 7 other sheets however, and I want it to search those sheets as well for the same number (still in column B) at the same time, if found delete the row, if not keep going. I have it working on Sheet2 (laser) but every time it fails on Sheet3 (punch). The thing that kills me is it's the same code. I have tried numerous things but have had no success.

Dec 15, 2013I have a workbook that has ben imported into excel and I need to extract the Cabinet sizes (red text) from ColumnC On Sheet2 leaving out the rest of the info. I have a button on the home sheet that has the code that I am running to generate this report it will do most of what I want but I am stuck at extracting the cabinet sizes.

I have a couple of places where a worksheet needs to be built from scratch. I thought I was being a good programmer by deleting the sheet and creating a fresh new one each time (Worksheet.Delete and Worksheets.Add). Not.
I just happened to run across a post that referred to "residue" that's left in the workbook when you delete a worksheet. Thanks, mikerickson. I noticed the workbook size increasing, and it seemed to be increasing too much for the code and controls that I was adding as I developed this thing, but then that's Microsoft for ya.
My workbook is now at 400KB and I don't even have much data in it yet. If it exceeds 500KB, I have to upgrade a free Web hosting account to a paid account (max file size is 500KB for the free account).
Therefore, in addition to wanting to be a good programmer, and wanting to save disk space, bandwidth, and download time, I also have a financial interest in removing all that "residue". Emptying my recycle bin, you might say, except that I can't recycle this particular trash. That's now #1 on my to-do list.
