Is there any easy way to disable the close (X) button at the top right of a form.
I've been trying...
Private Sub UserForm_Terminate()
UserForm1.Show
Unload UserForm2

but i get a problem when re-opening the userform2??
Sample code on disabling the close button in Excel workbook?
I tried the Tool -> Protect -> Check Windows method. But, it will disable the maximize and minimize buttons as well. Moreover, it will minimize the workbook.
I want to disable the three buttons (minimize, restore and close) excel.

I want to hide all toolbars and disable the red X upon opening of the spreadsheet, and to restore the main toolbars upon closing. That worked perfectly. (when I used the black code -see below)
I added in the red code as i wanted to disable the red X as well to ensure that users will always close the EXCEL worksheet via a Macro button.
The Macro will save the spreadsheet and close the worksheet and the Private sub should restore the toolbars.
I have a workbook that has a macro that needs to run before it is closed. I have a button on my sheet that runs that macro and then closes the sheet. Is there a way that I can disable the "X" at the top right hand of the workbook and force the user to close the workbook via my button?

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to disable autocomplete for a specific cell. There is only one cell (A11) that I don't want to use auto complete but I want every other cell to be able to still autocomplete. I think it may have something to do with matchentry being set to 2, but I'm not sure how to do this.
I don't know what sintax I need to use. I've tried this line of code but it doesn't work
A11.MatchEntry = fmMatchEntryNone
Is it possible to disable the close icon "X" in an userform.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently trying to keep the print feature disabled in excel untill any of three specific cells are filled out. So that any of the following possibilities would work:
A2 H2 P2
[x] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [x] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [x]
[x] [x] [ ]
[ ] [x] [x]
[x] [x] [x]
This is what I've got so far.
Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
If IsEmpty(Range("A2,H2,P2")) Then
Cancel = True
End If
End Sub
This code works for A2 but I can't get it to work for H2 or P2. i.e. print will be enabled if A2 has content and disabled if all three cells are blank, but if A2 is empty and H2 has content print will remain disabled.
I have a piece code that allows the user to pick a file from a folder on my C:. It then copies a range of data into the original workbook that the macro was run. I would like to close the other file down automatically which shouldn't be that hard but I can't work out how to do it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have got a spreadsheet which is being used as a database. I would like the spreadsheet to close automatically if the user has not "touched" it for a specific amount of time (say 1hr).
2 scenarios:
a/ The user is working in Excel but with another workbook.
b/ The user has the excel spreadsheet open but is working with another application, say Word
I experimented with Workbook_WindowDeactivate but I do not know how to stop the process if the Workbook is reactivated (Maybe a DO ...LOOP calling a function returning a True/False statement on the event Workbook_WindowActivate !!). My way of thinking is the following
Workbook is deactivated
Start a timer
If the workbook is not reactivated with 1hr, save and close (no user intervention wanted)
Else stop timer
Repeat process
I have a workbook of some 15 worksheets - however there is just one of the worksheets I want to disable the printing of it. So that when users select print whole document - all worksheets will print except for thus one worksheet
The worksheet tab is named "15.ADMIN WORKBOOK CONTROL ONLY"
I know I need to put some vba code into the code area of that worksheet
I tried this code but it didnt work
Private Sub Worksheet_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
Cancel = True
End Sub
I have buttons on each of my sheets, when one is clicked code is called in my module ("modAPI"), and from that code I wish to disable and enable certain buttons, and/or change the caption of those buttons. However when I try to do:
With ws
btnRefresh.Enabled = False
End With
I get Error 424, Object Required. I've tried recording a macro of what I wish to do, and it gives me ActiveSheet.Shapes("btnRefresh").Select, but this doesn't give me the option to enabled/disable or change the caption of the button.
Close worksheet with VBA. Can this be none?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet which has extra worksheets at the end that the user can move around, if they need them.
Then i found out that users were adding there own sheets, so i protected the workbook, but i found out that this stops the user from moving the sheet.
Whats the easiest way probably using code to disable the worksheet functions, ie the ones that appear if you click on the tab (insert,delete,rename,move+copy,select all sheets etc) but still allow the user to move the sheet within the workbook
I want to have a Checkbox (Form) that is in my Worksheet to disable/gray-out once it is selected. I don't want people to be able to uncheck it again. I want them to be forced to click another Checkbox to enable it again.
Example:
Two Checkboxes:
Check Box 1 = "Apply"
Check Box 2 = "Delete"
Once "Apply" is checked, gray it out. This will force a user to click "Delete" in order for the "Apply" button to be enabled again. I do not want a user to click "Apply" once selected as their way of 'deleting' the information.
Is there a way to either hide or disable the worksheet menu bar on ONE SHEET ONLY, so that a right-click customize doesn't even work on that sheet. I want the user to be able to do nothing but what my customized toolbar allows on that sheet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to disable the copy/paste functions on a particular worksheet within a workbook, or failign that, on a complete workbook?
I want to create a VBA that will close excel if there are no other worksheets open. if there are, then close only this worksheet.
I tried these 2 codes:
Sub CloseExcel()
Application.Quit
End Sub
This one works, but it wants to close other excel project opened (i do not want this!)
Sub CloseWorksheet()
ActiveWorkbook.Close
End Sub
Works too, but it close the worksheet leaving excel opened in background. (i do not want an empty exel in background!)
Is it possible to close a userform when you go to another worksheet?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to disable cut/copy/paste and maybe delete inside a worksheet. Reading earlier threads on this subject provided the code to put in the ThisWorkbook module, where it works great for all my worksheets. However, there is one worksheet where it is necessary to have copy/paste, either with control c or right click/copy. Here is part of that code provided by Tom Urtis:
Private Sub Workbook_Activate()
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Application.OnKey "^c", ""
Application.CellDragAndDrop = False
End Sub
What do I replace Application with to work on just the worksheet level?
Is there any method to disable notification / error message of password protected sheet when we try to edit restricted cells?
Note: In my scenario I've to allow user to select protected cell; that's why cell selection redirection is not useful for my.
Looking for a way to use VBA to get a list of the tab names from a closed workbook and put them in a column of the worksheet that has the macro. Is there a good way to do that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a batch script which runs the following line to open my excel sheet:
start m:exportad.xls
when this sheet opens it automatically refreshes from a csv file.
The problem is that I want this sheet to open, refresh and close. To close Excel I have been using the taskkill command in my batch script, but I have found that using this method doesn't update the sheet properly - the sheet only updates properly if I close Excel in the correct way, but this means manual input and I want this to be automatic.
I have a macro that runs and I want it to close excel when it is done. The best I can do is to get it to close the worksheet and workbook.
What is the code to make excel completely close?
