Drop To The Next Row Each Time I Scan In Each File

i've created a spreadsheet that will take in scanned files (from a barcode), log into our system, update the files based on certain criteria, then take information from the file and place it in another worksheet for inventory purposes.

what i'm asking is... is there a way i can have excel drop to the next row each time i scan in each file?

i've noticed the output of the scanner is formatted like this: +000000

i've tried using the sendkeys method with the plus sign, but it always moves down THEN enters in the numbers. i'm not sure if there is a way with the Len function... or some variation of that.

i'm also thinking if i could maybe find the .dll for the scanner, maybe i could set up a reference to it, and have it do something like "afterbarcodescan.activecell.offset(1,0).activate".

Bar codes would contain a part number and a quantity.

1st question: I have scanned them into excel, but how does the next scan get into the next cell? It is currently putting multiple scans into the same cell.

2nd question: Can the data be broken up into separate columns? (e.g. Column A = "Part Number", column B = "QTY") I know about text to columns, but I think I have to get the format right?)

Drop-Down Lists: Can We Fill 2 Columns At The Same Time?

Is there a way to have a drop-down list fill two columns (actually, two adjacent cells) when a selection is made from the drop-down list? Maybe using an array in the source formula?

For instance, let's say I pick a doctor from the drop down list, I would like the doctor's practice to automatically fill the cell next it so that the two always go together correctly. In the lists example below, when I select Dr. Elmer in column A, then I want Internal Medecine Associates to go in column B.

Scan Through All Files And Subdirectories

I am trying to scan through all files within a directory and all subdirectories to find files where the name begins with certain characters. Below is code that will accomplish this for a certain directory, but I do not know how to look through the subdirectories within the specified directory. So, the issues are:

1. How do I loop through each subdirectory within a specified directory?

2. I am trying to return the file name, path name (separate from the file name), and modified date. I can return the name. I can return the path, but it includes the name. Is there a way to return just the path?

3. What is the code to return the modified date of the file?

Scan Through Multiple Files

I send out 300 or so spreadsheets. The spreadsheet contains lines of products that recipients have on hire. Column L allows to the user to put YES or NO on each line, to state whether it is correct or not. The user then sends this sheet back.

The difficult part for me is I have to open each spreadsheet, and deal with all the instances of NO in column L. It takes almost a day to go through every spreadsheet.

Is it at all possible to have some sort of macro, VBA sript or access front page, that allows me to search all instances of 'NO' in all the spreadsheets which are in 1 designated folder?

Hopefully I am making sense in what Im after.. ideally I'd need a button on a spreadsheet that I click to give me all rows that contain NO in column L.

All the file names will be constant each week. (so each file name will be 01 - Hire List.xls, 02-Hire List.xls, 03-Hire List.xls etc etc).

The issue is to find the address (like A1) to the cell that contain specific text string?

I import text from a web page and I want to calculate some numbers from this information. All the information is spread out in 10-15 columns and 20-25 rows, and the specific value I'm looking for is imported into different rows as the dynamic web page changes, but the column is always the same.

The cell next to the left side of my wanted cell always contain the same text, so I thought I could search or scan the area A1 to P25 for this text and then extract the value of the cell on its right hand.

Basically scan the rows and find the last remaining row. If there is no data after 20 rows then exit the loop.

I have some code that scans each worksheet in a workbook for sheetnames beginning with 'Model'... if the worksheet name matches, it prints only the used pages on that sheet (see code below).

found the following code which works for 1 workbook at a time. I am trying to save 7 workbooks at 1 time. Is it possible?

Drop-down Boxes Make File Size Too Large

I'm using Excel 2007. I have a cell with a dropdown box that has the values 1 thru 10. When I save the file (as an Excel 97-2003 compatible .xls file), it's 17kb which is normal. I want multiple dropdown boxes going down the same column, so that every time the user goes to the next row, another dropdown box will be displayed. I copied the cell with the dropdown box, selected the entire column, and pasted the dropdown box.

This time when I save the document, it's over 2MB in file size. I've seen other spreadsheets with several columns of dropdown boxes spanning thousands of rows and they stay under 30kb. I don't know what they did differently to keep their file size small. Why is my file size so large and how do I fix this? Do I need to use a 'paste special' function?

Populate Data Among 3 Files Using Drop-Down Validation In One File

I would like to populate data from 1st File(Name:-Master Data) to the 2nd File(Name:-Calculator) using validation list in the 2nd file in such a way that once the Incentive Calculation is done for any store the same data should get populated to the 3rd File(Nameay Out) automatically without manual copying & pasting.

1)Master Data File(1st File):-Contains all the relevant raw data for incentive calculation.

2)Calculator File(2nd File):-Contains a drop-down validation in cell D4(in the sheet Named:-Hyper) and this drop-down contains the list of the stores starting from H001 to H032. I have got the Sumproduct formula to link Master Data File & Calculator File via this Drop-Down list which is yielding the Incentive Amount.

3)PayOut File(3rd File):-This is the where the storewise Incentive amount should finally be stored. I need help in keeping the respective storewise Incentive amount to respective locations even though different store is selected in the Drop Down Validation in the Calculator File.

I will share a small data pertaining to 2nd File(Name:-Calculator) & 3rd File(Nameay-Out) to further explain of what result is expected.

The following figure shows the results of H012 store(when selected via the Drop-Down validation):-

Is it possible to create a drop down menu where additional information can be added then tallied up in a separate table?

I would like to create a menu representing "tasks" where an amount of "time" can be designated per menu for my employees to select and fill. I would like this information to then be tallied elsewhere so I can keep track of our efficiency.

Scan Row For Text - Return Row And Column Header Info

I've been using a nice colorful spreadsheet to use to schedule rooms for an organization. Visually it has worked out well but now I need to automatically generate a 'report' using that data. So...

I want to scan each row of a table and create another table with that data transformed.
That is, scan each row and whenever I find any text in a cell I want to return that text (the room being used) as well as the row and column header information (who is starting to use that room and on what date). I've attached a jpeg to show the example.

Ideally, when I scan the row and find text to return the headers I'd like the row scan to also find when the fill color changes and return that column header, too as that that would be the date that the room stops being used.

I would like to use multiple scanners using a 8 port hub but I am having trouble with a scanner starting my macro and another scanner dumping data into my macro before the first one is finished. However, if I drop a new csv file in, and there are fewer rows, the old rows aren't deleted. For example, if my first set of data had 10 rows, and the new has 8, the extra two rows are still there.

Cannot Get (Last Save Time) From Other File

I have a workbook that retrieves data from a file from a URL address upon opening. Actually, I am saving the URL file to a local drive and then updating my workbook with this data. The problem is that the job that updates the URL file sometimes fails. I want to notify the user of my workbook that the data has not been update recently. I am trying to use the built in document properties (Last Save Time) but I cannot get it to work except for the workbook that has the macros in it. Is there a way to find the last save time of a workbook (from a URL address) seperate from the workbook that has the marco? Below is my current code that errors out at:

Time Limitations In File

We have an Excel file that is located on the network and is accessed by numerous individuals. Should someone need access when another user has the file open, we get a message that the file is currently in use and it also lists the user id of that person. The issue is that a particular user will open the file and keep it on their desktop for hours at a time. Is there a way to limit the amount of time that user can have the file open? Is there something within Excel that I can turn on that should the file not be modified for a particular amount of time that Excel saves the file and closes it down?

VBA Save File On Time Interval?

I have a file that sits open all the time, and performs some refresh functions every thirty minutes. I need the file to save a copy of the tab as a CSV file at a given time interval. The code below is almost there, just need to work with the time interval part. The way it should work is to open the csv, copy / paste the active sheet; then close the csv; leaving the original excel file open. I can run it, and it works, but the time interval is not triggering.

I can get the time interval to work by itself, and the save csv part to work by itself also; I need them to work together.

Play Sound File At Set Time Each Day

I'm trying to automate/keep records of my day by setting up a spreadsheet which : 1) Plays a wav music file at a schedule time as a reminder and 2) at the same time calls up a form where I can enter the results of the activity then 3) saves the results to a sheet where consecutive daily records can be recorded and graphed.

Example

At 5am each day I want a "Motivation.wav" music file to open and play and a form appear where I enter in the number of sit ups, push-ups I get done, which I enter in the form and it gets saved to a sheet where I can graph my progress based on the results recorded.
