Auto Fill Column B Based Contents Of Column A

Apr 19, 2007

I have a list that is streets and addresses. All contained in column A. Cell A1 is the street name and then Column A3 is the street number. This repeats down column A for almost 1000 street names. I need to fill column B3 with the street name, as well as B4, B5, B6, etc until the street name changes. I was trying to do this with an if..then but couldn't get it to work. I also tried to work on a do.. loop looking for the change from a string to number. But my programming is a little rusty. If anyone can help I was be forever grateful. I mean the alternative is to sit here and copy and paste all day.

Fill Table Based On An Drop-Down Choice In 1st Column

May 9, 2009

I'm working on making a spreadsheet that allows me to select an item type from a dropdown list (through validation) and then would copy in a range of values from another worksheet based on my dropdown selection.

The set-up: I am primarily concerned with two sheets in my workbook, BiS and Weights. I have a database of items and their associated values listed in Weights. I have already managed to get dropdown lists of my specific item types using named lists and have put that in the BiS worksheet.

What I would like to do is have the values in the Weights worksheet copied over in the same order and number of cells based on what item I select from the dropdown list.

Find All Row Values Selected In Multi Column ListBox & Fill Adjacent Cell

Apr 27, 2009

I have a listbox that has row and columns. The rows are combinations of options and the columns are Additives.

After selecting a row in Listbox1, (first column are names) i would like the value of the second column to goto a specific area.... find that value and in the cell to the right of it place a "Y". The "Y" would indicate that "yes" it was part of the selection row of the listbox. Same for third column, forth, fifth and sixth. The result from the listbox is a number of Y's and N's in the result page. Then making all that were not part of selected line and equal to "N" to hide row (height = to zero).

Listbox and expected result are in attached example worksheet.

The attached does show the need much better then I can explain it.

Fill Range Of Cells With Text When Listbox Option Selected - Clear When Not Selected

Jul 25, 2014

I am using this code to hide or unhide rows of text on another sheet:

VB:
Sub ProcessSheet1ChangeOnCellJ7(ByVal Target As Range)

Dim sAddress As String
Dim sValue As String

'Get the address of the cell that changed without '$' signs
sAddress = Target.Address(False, False)

[Code]....

When the "Not Pursuing" list box option is selected (in cell "J7" or "J8" in Sheet 1) I need to add (or over-write) "Not Pursuing" to the range of cells in column "B" (in the "Tasks" sheet), but only for that particular Goal, meaning a limited range of cells in column "B". If the "Pursuing - Show All Tasks" option is selected for a Goal then these same cells need to be blank so that the appropriate person can enter their name into the cell.

The purpose for adding "Not Pursuing" automatically to these yellow highlighted cells is that it will facilitate filtering of tasks by individual in the "Tasks" sheet..

Again I have tried several times to upload a sample file and am unable to, which I know makes it more difficult to solve. (Is there some common mistake people make? I know it's an allowed format and is very small in file size....)

Code solution can be entered directly beneath:

VB:
If Target.Value = "Not Pursuing" Then
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("29:29").EntireRow.Hidden = False
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("30:48").EntireRow.Hidden = True

Drop Down List Which Returns Values Based On What Has Been Selected In The Previous Drop Down List In The Adjacent Cell

Mar 19, 2009

I'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.

Merge The Contents Of Selected Cells

Feb 9, 2010

this is my first post in this great forum. let me start talking about what I need, I used to convert some statement from PDF to XLS format for my work purpose. sometimes I am facing a problem that some text in the statement will come in more than one row, actually I need it to come in one cell but it is coming in several rows that mean, if I want to sort or filter my data, I will lose some important data. What do I want???

I want a macro to merge the contents of selected cells and put it in the first cell of the selected cells then clear the other cells. I will use this macro for the following cases: Case 1- assume we have this data in any sheet.

B1=How
C1=are
D1=you? ( all without any space )

after selecting the said cells and applying this macro, the result will be:

B1=How are you? ( one space only between the content of the selected cells )
C1=D1=empty

Case 2- assume we have this data in any sheet.

B1=How.........

Cells With The Same Contents To Fill With The Same Color

Jan 13, 2009

I want cells containing the same contents to fill with the same color. But I want different colors for each matched set. I know I can match text to a color, but I may have 100 possible items and to create matches for all 100 would be time consuming and there are not enough colors. I just want random colors picked by excel to create some visual separation to similar cells.

VBA - Userform: Click In A Text Box, Contents Is Selected

Mar 20, 2007

I'm building a userform (for the first time), and I'm working with a textbox control. I'd like to make it so that when the user clicks in that textbox, the contents is selected, so that if they begin typing, it will type over what is already there.

My question, specifically, is whether or not there is a property I can set to make this the default behavior, and if not - what event do I tie to this action? Is it the "Enter" event?

What I have now, which will probably be unacceptable to my users, is code that looks like this:

Private Sub tbName_Enter()
ActiveControl.Value = ""
End Sub
This makes the contents disappear, but I'd rather they stay there and just become "selected".

Drop Down That Takes Me Where The Selected Item Is Found

Nov 21, 2006

I plan to place a drop down list (combo box) in a WS where I upon selection of one item from that list will move me to the place in the same WS where the item selected is to be found. Hyperlinks are a theory, but the WS is protected and will stay protected. A drop down is preferred.

I haven't worked with this topics for quite some time and might have forgotten some basics.

Drop-Down Lists: Can We Fill 2 Columns At The Same Time?

May 13, 2009

Is there a way to have a drop-down list fill two columns (actually, two adjacent cells) when a selection is made from the drop-down list? Maybe using an array in the source formula?

For instance, let's say I pick a doctor from the drop down list, I would like the doctor's practice to automatically fill the cell next it so that the two always go together correctly. In the lists example below, when I select Dr. Elmer in column A, then I want Internal Medecine Associates to go in column B.

MD Practice
Dr. BartholomewCentral Endocrine Specialists
Dr. Elmer Internal Medicine Associates
Dr. StamfordCardiology Associates

Auto Fill Based On Drop-down Choice

Dec 13, 2007

I'm working on a workbook that already exists and that contains multiple worksheets (A,B,C,D,...), each with specific info (each row consists of an item name (item 1, item 2, item3,...)and all characteristics of this item).

We now want to add a help page for each worksheet :
A => A help
B => B help
...

So for each item (=row) in sheet A, there should also be an according row with additional info in A help

First, I used static hyperlinks to switch from the item in A to the corresponding help in A help. However the item list can be extended in the future (meaning rows inserted) and this will cause these links to fail. Therefore I switched to dynamic hyperlinks by inserting names (in stead of the original cell names) for each item in both A and A help. This involves a lot of work since you have to give all the involved cells a unique name and you have to refer to this unique name when you set up the hyperlink.

Run Macro Procedure Based On Drop-Down Item Selected

May 27, 2009

I am trying to accomplish is to display a dropdown or combobox with a list of choices. I want the backcolor to be shaded light green to match instructional text that appears in the cell above. That I have working with the selections appearing. Once a choice is made I want a separate procedure to run that will somehow know which choice was made.

I can't put the code within the module for this particular sheet as it is dynamically recreated each time the data is refreshed and the code will disappear. This may seem to be an odd practice but this is how 25+ workbooks are coded within this system for my employer's customer and it is a required practice.
