Find The Loss/gain Difference Between An Initial Value

I am looking for a simple loss/gain formula for my students. They are trying to find the loss/gain difference between an initial value, and the current value. They are using a monetary value, not date/time.
I have a excel 2000 spreadsheet that has beginning and ending dates for certain services. I'm trying to tease out what our customer base has been doing over time in aggregate- i.e. how many customers subscribing to X in a given month/year.
The only way I've been able to do this in the past has been generating pivot charts of start dates (with 'start mo' and 'start year' busted out) as a positive count (+1), stop dates (with 'stop mo' and 'stop year' busted out) with a negative count (-1), then copying these tables into yet another page where I mash them together to get the 'flow' of our customer base over time and generating charts from there. Needless to say, it seems a whole lot more clunky than it should be, and I'm having a hard time searching the innarwebs for similar examples (even though I'm sure it's been done before). Example:
And I also 2 small Pictures ie picture1 and picture 2 which i insert in same excel sheet. I wanted to lookup C1 cell , if A1 is greater than B1 then Picture1 or vice versa.
I run a slimming club and would like to use Excel to keep records of members weights, losses, gains etc. What I would like to do is enter their starting weight into a cell then each week when they are weighed enter a loss or gain in an adjacent cell. I would then like Excel to calculate that loss or gain as a percentage of their original weight. Is this possible?
The aim is to find those combinations of variable values which generate highest total gain. I attached the spreadsheet which shows the variables (A through K) and a Gain column. I created 5 additional tabs which show all possible 2,3,4 and 5-member combinations of the variables. These tabs are like coordinates of which variable combinations should be examined. As an example I used the first combination from the second tab = A and B. If you look at these two columns on the EXAMPLE CALCULATION tab you will see 7,7 in the Number combination which is the first number pair for these two variables. The headings of the red and the yellow columns calculate the total count for this number pair and the total gain. These were recorded on a separate EXAMPLE RESULTS tab along with some other pairs which appear afterwards (these were recorded only from the first 39 rows of the AB data). I need a macro which will cycle through each variable pair (only using the combinations from the tab 2 for now, annd later from 3,4 and 5 tabs) collecting statistics for each unique number combination it encounters (printing to a separate sheet one after one), such as shown on the EXAMPLE RESULTS.
I have a listing with Middle Initials in column D. D also contains dates and Names. I want to remove the Middle Initials only. I need to do this without moving around cells. So a Find:="A", Replacement:="" type of situation. Right now I have 26 two line entries to take care of this, but I know it has to be easier and use less lines. (Trying to consolidate code for a better look).

I'm trying to find the difference two cells within a row to another row.
I'm using time values i.e 17:07 and 14:53 and in the third cell I'd like to get a result that shows me a plus/minus of the differences.
I know by looking what math to apply to that particular cell. Is there a way to do a formula to get the results no matter if they are plus or minus. without having to change the formula back and for on if i know it'll be increasing or decreasing?

I have a rather details and complicated procedure that in effect is designed to find a value (>=) than a text box value inputed.
There are 2 other list boxes (5 & 6) that are also designed to narrow down the search.
The values available in list box 5 are a customers name in column C. (Sample sheet highlighted value in Yellow)
The values available in list box6 are a product type. (Sample sheet highlighted in blue) When i select a value in list box5 and in listbox6, i enter a numerical value into text box111.
I then click on a command button, to populate listbox3 with all found values in column C that are greater than or equal to the value in the text box.
Now comes the part i cannot seem to be able to do.
I need to be able to click on a selected value in list box 3, and find the value that is between 2-22 rows above it in column A and place this value in text box 4. (List box 3 values are ONLY ever
I am trying to find the difference between two dates.
Column B consists of date (oldest to latest), Column C to Column P consists of data, I have entered formula in Column Q to get value if the conditions are met, else the cells will remain blank (but those cells contains formula)
For eg: =IF(C4395=1,J4395,"")
There are thousands of ROWS in the worksheet.
I need to find last value in the Column Q, corresponding date (assuming if the last value is in Q4395, I want it's corresponding date which is in Column B) and finding the difference between today and that found date. All these put together in one formula.
I managed to get last value in the column by using this formula, but I couldn't get it's corresponding date.
I know this is probably really easy to do but I am new with excel. I have a list of 8 numers in 8 cells and was able to find the lowest. But now I need to take the list and subtract the lowest number from the second lowest and have the difference dispay in the target cell.
I have two lists (List A and List B) of hundreds of items that reside in a single worksheet. Some items may or may not occur in both lists. Every item in both lists has a value on the range of 1-50. I am only interested in those items that occur in both lists. I need to find the difference of the values for each of these items (List A - List B), including negative values.
I have tried many variations of formulas using VLOOKUP with no luck. I cannot figure out how to accomplish this with a Pivot Table. I want to make a macro for this.
what is the formula to convert the date in MMYYYY into some numbers so that I can derive the difference between 2 dates?
For example: I have 2 dates 31-Jan-09 and 28-Nov-05 in Column A & Column B respectively. I would like to derive no. of months between the difference of the 2 dates which in this case is 38 months.
I was looking for how to calculate the value from on cell F11 from this excel table but my formula didn't work so I'm looking for other solutions? ur Cell F11 indicates $104 and cell F12 $320 and F13 $658

Reference the attached excel audit example. Column F highlighted in Yellow is finding the difference between "Authorized Post Allow" D9 "Post Allowance" B9 . The Column location of the two Columns changes on each audit. This means I have to manually fix the formula in Column F every time. Is there a formula that would find the difference between these two columns based on their names "Post Allowance" and "Authorized Post Allow" preventing me from manully fixing the formula.
This is probably easier than I'm making it on myself. I would like a formula that would find the value in D2 of the current sheet on a sheet named 6-19 in D:D, then take the value from L:L in that row and subtract it from L2 of the current sheet.

Hi all, first post here. I've been asked to do something in excel i can't seem to get my head around.
My client provides me with data in the form
1c, 1b, 1a, 2c, 2b, 2a, 3c etc... where 1a is the lowest.
I need to find a way of working out the difference between these, e.g. edit: 2a - 1c = 5
I've been working on it and have made some headway by splitting these with MID function and then using CODE to try and work out a unique ID for each, but i can't help feeling there's an easier way!

I have a list of Names that has numbers accumulated over months. I am looking for a formula to use in a search tool that uses a drop down list to identify the name I am looking for and then the formula will show me the increase that happened in certain months.
See the attachment the result is coming from Denominators tab, I want the answer displayed in the Display tab, you will see a drop down list at C3 in Display, I am trying to show the answer in cell D9-I9.
how many the denominator has increased in that month. so for D9 it will come from denominator tab column c minus b, E9 will be d minus c
"Run-time error '1004': "cmc4906.xls" File cannot be found. Check the spelling of the file name and verify that the file location is correct."
I am not trying to open a xls file. The path is clear and there are no file names with extensions in the path name (C:Weekly). I'm unclear of why the code thinks its looking for file cmc4906.xls and a xls file at that.
I've created a combobox. It is assigned a certain array of Long Values based on various criteria. I want to set the value of the ComboBox to empty before the criteria are assessed. What is the initial value of a ComboBox? zero, null, or ""
