Formatting Numbers In Textbox On Change Or After Update

A text box on a Userform inputs numbers to a cell in a worksheet. I want the number to appear in the text box formatted #,##0.00 However, if I include the line

csDepositTextBox.Value = Format(csDepositTextBox, "#,##0.00")

in either the csDepositTextBox_Change or _AfterUpdate events, it causes the number to be stored as text in the worksheet. Curiously I can put the code in the corresponding event for another textbox and it does not corrupt the formatting.

Formatting ActiveX Textbox For Phone Numbers And Dates

I have several text boxes on a 'picture' which is the format for a business review. The text boxes are linked to cells behind the picture which picks up company names, cities etc...

Two of the boxes have a phone# and date

The linked cells are formatted correctly but obviously the text boxes, pick up the 'values' not the formats.

is there any way for the textboxes to show the values with the proper format i.e.,

xxx-xxx-xxxx
mmm yyyy

Formatting TextBox And Check Which TextBox Is The Active TextBox In The Loop

I am attempting to format some TextBoxes from within a For/Next loop. I need a way to check which TextBox is the active TextBox in the loop. Using i as the variable, I came up with this code snippet: Me.Controls("TB" & i).Text = Format("TB" & i, "mm/dd/yy")

If i = 3, this gives me in TextBox3 (which is called TB3) the text 'TB3' and not the value of what is in TB3. It has got to bo something simple, I just can't see it!!!

Automatically Update Only With Numbers (ifnumber-update And Go To Next Cell)

Let's say that in column A I have numbers,"Yes" and "No". I want in column B to have only the numbers from column A, in the same order without any empty ranges, and everytime I add in column A a new number, column B to update automatically with that number. Let's have an example:

And if I want to add in column A:

So the column be will update automatically. I already tried =IFERROR(INDEX($A$1:$A$10,SMALL(IF(ISNUMBER($A$1:$A$10),ROW($A$1:$A$10)),ROWS(B$1:B1))-ROW($A$1)+1),") but using this many times get's my file very heavy and the excel is working slow.

I’m just starting to learn the VBA process with Excel, this problem is probably very basic so forgive me.

I have a cell in excel that is linked to a textbox, if you add text to the textbox it will update the cell. If you close and reopen the application you need to click the textbox to show the value previously added to the cell, can this be viewed automatically.

Set Focus Not Working On TextBox After After Update

I am creating an Add Contact form. There is a checkbox for Individual (if left unticked then contact is a business entity - not an individual).

If Individual = True and If the txtNameFirst control has no value in it Then after the end user tabs away from the txtNameLastRegistered, the form should SetFocus on the txtNameFirst textbox (entry for this field is mandatory only if the contact is an individual - otherwise this field is made invisible)

But it is not working. I tick chkIndividual, I enter a name in txtNameLastRegistered, I tab away, code is called from txtNameLastRegistered_AfterUpdate (which includes the SetFocus code) but the form appears without focus in any of the controls!

Update Textbox In Parent Frame

The code below works really great which Andy helped me with, but now I've put the textboxes that are changing in a frame. That is because I need to scroll the textboxes. That works in another form I've got, but for this form I've also got the textbox, TBSum601, which is updated from the sub UpdateTotal() (see below). BSum601 is placed on the form but not inside the frame. When I run the application it stops in Sub TxtGroup_Change() at the line: TxtGroup.Parent.UpdateTotal
I think it's because of that the textboxes for the TxtGroup now are in a frame instead of as before, on the form. don't know exactly what the "Parent" does, but I think it's something I have to do with the code there.

Update UserForm Textbox To New Active Cell?

I am working on a addin UserForm to quickly format cell text, especially only select characters in a cell. I have this functional in a modal setting working with the active cell when I activate the UserForm. What I would like to be able to do is to work in excel without having to close the Userform and have the textbox update with each new cell. I have changed the UserForm properties to ShowModal = false which gets the first half. However the textbox will only show the cell value I started with.

I have one source spreadsheet, where are columns NAME, DATE. I read these data by ADO to other spreadsheet, where I can change/delete data and then run macro for update data in source spreadsheet. Bank Statements - Formatting / Cell Formatting Won't Change?

I'm trying to analyse all of my bank statenments to see where all my money went!! I've got online banking so I thought it would be a relatively easy process of copying and pasting each month into excel.

Well, that in itself was easy, the problem is with the formatting of the financial numbers. Excel doesn't seem to recognise them as numbers, so at the moment I can't do any manipulation with the numbers. I have tried everything such as:

Format Cells > Number > Number and Currency
Copy and Paste Special > Values only
Copying into Notepad and back into Excel

Even if it appears to have changed the numbers to 'number' or 'currency' formatting by right justifying the numbers, if I try to add up the numbers using the SUM function, it doesn't want to know.

For some reason nothing seems to work - what am I missing?

For an example, I have attached a snippet of the spreadsheet with my starbucks transactions.

Cell Formatting Won't Update

My problem is the data and getting the formula's to read it. I copied and pasted the data from a pivot table and the columns are set to accounting two digits. But thats not what
shows in the cell. Each cell shows many digits. The formulas are working
now if I put the curser in the cell and select return. The values then
update to the accounting format it is supposed to be already and everything
works fine.

Conditional Formatting Does Not Update

Excel 2007 - Windows XP.

I have a file with a column with conditional formatting that works. I save the file and when I open it again some of the cells in that column do not respond to the conditional formatting. I have 5 "sheets" in the file with the same conditional formatting and none of them work properly.

I am using "Use a Formula to determine which cells to format" and I have the below formula.

=OR(EXACT(E3,$V$5:$V$18)) It applies to cells =$E$3:$E$79

The only way I can get it to update after opening the file is to "Edit" the rule then just hit OK twice.

Detect Numbers In A Cell Range And Then Change Cells Based On What Numbers Are Found?

I'm going to be using a spreadsheet to keep track of where different people are at. So if Person 1 is in Room 3, I will stick a 3 in the box next to their name and then can look at the spreadsheet whenever I need and see what room they are in. When I'm deciding what room to put a person in, though, I need to be able to quickly glance at a list of Room #'s and see what one's are still available. So I have a bank of Room #'s in the spreadsheet....1,2,3, etc.

What I'd like, is some way to set this up so that when I put, for example, "3" in the cell next to "Person 1" the spreadsheet automatically removes "3" from the bank of available Room #'s and when I delete the "3" because the person has left, it adds "3" back to the bank of available Rooms.

Could anyone offer advice on how I would go about accomplishing this task? I'm trying to format two textbox fields on my userform that when the user inputs data into it, it would automatically show the "symbols, dashes and/or spaces accordingling".

The first textbox field (TextBox9) I need to end up looking like this, with the numbers and/or letters changing by user input.
example: (MI) A000-000-000-000

The next textbox Field (TextBox10) I need to end up with this type of result:
example: (MI ID) A000-000-000-0

I was trying something like this but I'm not familiar enough with the formatting symbols to accomplish this task.

I'm a bit stuck with one of my userforms. I have a username textbox on my workbook logon screen. I have put a max length on the textbox to 7 characters. I have also added a bit of code which stops the user from entering anything less than 7 characters (once the commandbutton is clicked, a msgbox comes up), and the textbox will show text in upper case.

What I would like is a way to "format" the textbox. All of the usernames will be in the following format: BBAAA11. The first 2 characters will always be "BB". The 3rd, 4th and 5th characters will be any combination of letters (for example... "CAM", "EAL", "BEF"). Finally the last 2 characters will always be any combination of 2 digits (for example... "76" "24", "00").

If someone could provide me with some code which will not allow the textbox to type anything other than the specified format, or for a msgbox to appear once the commandbutton has been clicked to say that the incorrect format has been entered, I will be most grateful.

Live Conditional Formatting - Update Figure And Colour

I am tracking figures over four weeks with a target of 4 sales per week. I have formatted the cells to light up - Green for 4 sales or more, Amber for 3, Red for 2 or less. I have set a monthly column up at the end of the table and want it to update the figure and colour that each member of my team is currently on. I can get it to change colour for the full 4 weeks worth of figure but want the montly column to be live and not cumulative. For example after 2 weeks if the total sales a member had achieved was 9, I would want the cell to be green. If after 3 weeks they had still only achieved 9 I would want the cell to change to amber once the 3rd weeks '0' figure had been added.

Calculation Of The Cells Update But Very Many Of Them Do Not Change At All

I've created a bit of a monster Excel model taking in an enormous range of inputs and outputs. Most of the formulas are vlookups and sumif's. The workbook is now about 15meg. I've got autocalculate turned off because of the great deal of time it takes to recalculate. When I do try and re-calc some of the cells update but very many of them do not change at all. If I then go into these cells and edit them (F2 enter) the correct output is given! If I close the book and re-open it normally shows the correct outputs, after a while it goes back to the error above.

I`m trying to work out the best way to propogate a cell's format accross an entire range. What I ultimately want is for a user to only have to change the text colour of one cell, and for the entire row to immediately change to the same colour with it. Even if this means always having to update for example the cell in column A to change the text colour accross that row.
